"Truth is... the game was rigged from the start,"
One year ago I was a human that woke up on that clinic bed in Goodsprings after Victor dug me out of that shallow grave from Benny leaving me to die.
Even though I saw it coming... it hurts just the same from taking two hot pieces of lead straight to the cranium.
Though that would be the only time I would cheat death.
Well if you want technical it was actually the second time after being sent into the Mojave as Courier Six.
If you are like me and read manga/watch anime you know what happened to me.
Isekai or in English 'sent to another world'.
Though unlike the OMG powerhouses in that common trope I had to work hard for what I am today and unlike those 'Chads' I only had the vegas crew as my champions.
Boone the former NCR first recon sniper who had some form of peace now...
Arcade the wasteland doctor with a past to a group that wanted to 'purify' the wasteland...
Daisy the nightkin who had her family, body, even her ever sanity taken from her...
Raul the pre-war ghoul who was a hero with a tragic past like all heroes...
Veronica the scribe from a dying Brotherhood of steel chapter that refused to change...
Cass the former caravaner who had her family taken from her by greed...
Rex the cyber dog who was slowly dying from his brain rotting from the inside out...
ED-E the eye bot who had a history with Arcade and the same group...
They were my party and the closest thing I had to a family in this radiation-cursed-monster-filled-blood-stained-wasteland desert.
It hurt when I had to leave without saying goodbye but I knew they would find peace in the wasteland without me.
I thought long and hard about what side to choose with since I only had one shot at this, just like in real life.
What I did would have consequences.
Robert House was my first thought because of his connections and power of vegas along with his knowledge of pre-war along with a robot army that would never rebel and remain loyal to the people of Vegas.
Never was a leader myself and I knew little to nothing when it came to governing let alone rule a city-state, plus knowing how bloody it would be if I were to take over I decided against it.
Legion? Fuck no...
The New California Republic was the ideal choice, again not my first choice nor one I liked knowing the bed of lies they sat on and associating themselves to greedy murders such as the crimson caravan company. Along with the fact they were too big for their own good how were they going to hold hoover damn let alone take it, they need a hail mary pass and I was the one to throw the ball.
Basically had to hold their hands through it all.
From having the minor factions of the Mojave either not assisting the legion to join the NCR at the second battle of Hoover damn.
To going out and stopping the white legs at Zion and stopping Ulysses from nuking the long 15.
Along with keeping Father Elijah from unleashing the cloud and setting out his army of ghosts and holograms upon the NCR. Next to keeping the mad brains of the big empty at bay with technology that made the stuff that the BOS had looked like wind-up toys.
Fuck man... I was having second thoughts about letting the NCR take control of New Vegas.
But the video game sugar coated a lot of what I saw.
There had to be at least some form of order even if it was from the NCR.
Just wish I had a better choice.
Was glad it was over at least, but I had to ask.
What happens afterward.
Though after all this nothing would surprise me knowing how wild this wasteland can be.

"I'm sorry... what?" Six asked standing in the forbidden dome where the semi-insane brain turned towards the red-eyed gasmask wearing 'human'.
"So it all started when I went to take my mentats break but then I realized that I WAS OUT OF MENTATS! How am I support to take my mentats break if I don't have any mentats?! But before I could go get another fresh box from the mentats room I found a box of mentats on your desk and I know that you don't like me messing with your stuff but it was right there and all I needed was one little pill,"
Mobius explained to the courier.
"I took one but almost right away unlike my normal mentats I felt this rush right away like a WOOOSH! and one thing led to another before I knew it the box was empty and I had created this machine!"
Sure enough, made right behind Mobius was this strange device hooked up to like ten radios with a terminal, and the whole thing was mostly made of sceuritron parts and other robot junk.
"At first I couldn't recall what it did but after remembering you telling me to record my ideas with those holotapes you gave me to recall my mentats break ideas. Sure enough, I had a new holotape and then I remember that this device was to read any other frequencies that your transportalponder could use to allow you this 'fast travel' idea you have," Mobius spoke.
"To my surprised, I found a frequency that wasn't like the others... because it was being USED! Duh duh Duuuuuuuuh!"
"A teleporter frequency that is being used? How is that possible?" Six asked.
"I'm still figuring that one out myself. Might figure that out with more of those mentats that you had on your desk," Mobius stated.
Six shook his head.
"You're not getting any more party time mentats Mobius I'm just glad you didn't blow up the big empty," Six spoke going to the machine's terminal and sure enough on the screen held data that if Six was still normal he wouldn't even understand but after nearly a year in the Mojave, it was like reading a children's picture book. "Wait... this is coming from the... East cost?"
Six blood froze when he looked at the coordinates that the frequency was giving off.
Boston Massachusetts...
CIT university...
That meant one thing.
'Fuck me...'
"Hmmm, what do you think it is Six?" Mobius asked.
"Most likely nothing," Six told the custom brain jarred Mr. handy with TV screens. "I doubt it will be a- what the... this is strange,"
Six tapped on the screen seeing the frequency jolt around as if it was freaking out.
"Huh... weird,"
"What is it?" Mobius asked.
"Nothing to be worried about but... hmmm," Six held his chin wondering if this should be happening, then again weirder things happened like the aliens along with finding 'not-Indiana-jones-body-in-a-fridge' among other things.
Yet the video game never had him kinda well... cheat slightly due to his free will in this game allowing him to do more than the programming in the old classic fallout title would allow. None the less Six held his chin wondering what he should do though he was honestly debating if he should or not.
He knew the original courier vanished right after fallout new vegas along with that fallout 4 didn't have any connection to new vegas so...
Maybe he could sneak in and get out if things got heated.
What's the harm?
"Hey, Mobius... how do I tap into this frequency?"
*BLAM!*
Six groaned as his body re-materialized in the physical plain.
He pushed himself up from the ground groaning from the beating pain in his skull that felt worse when the headache he had when he first woke up in Goodsprings. In moments the pain quickly faded when he awoke, while his cybernetic eyes began to adjust to the light around him the courier got to his knee while holding his gasmask.
'The fuck happened?'
Resting his arm on his leg the courier closed his head while tilting his head.
'Damn got to love these implants though,'
Pushing himself up courier six watched as his surroundings adjusted to the light level around him only cause him to freeze in place upon seeing the sea of green grassy hills in front of him.
"THE FUCK!"
This wasn't the institute not by a long shot, a matter of fact the very surroundings seemed impossible for the wasteland from normal-looking trees to healthy green grass that covered the small valley before him. Normally one would be amazed by this but the courier wasn't normal for what in front of him scared the ever-living shit out of him.
The last time he has seen this much green almost everything wanted to kill him.
He had Vault 22 and the big empty to thank for that.
Confused the courier looked to his pip-boy to see if he could get a layout of the land and luckily he had some map before him which was good.
'Thank god Robco's GSP still works out here where ever I am... wait... the hell!?'
One look at the date on his pip-boy the courier flinched.
He was just at the big empty moments ago!
Then how come did his pip-boy read two months had passed!
How was that even possible?!
It didn't make any sense!
Along with that some of his ammo and supplies had been used as well telling him that he had been away for quite some time but why can't he remember any of it?
Then he saw something under his weapons.
'An institute pistol?'
Summoning the weapon to his hand in an amber flash the courier looked at the weapon seeing the fallout 4 weapon in his hand. Confused the courier began to inspect the pistol studying it, unlike the fourth fallout game this one used energy cells and not microfusion cells.
Looked used and even seemed that had been tinkering around with it.
Which didn't make sense because this was the first time he has seen the damn weapon.
Six then looked at his pip-boy again this time going through his inventory and upon taking a closer look seeing that he had a set of synth-heavy armor and some gen 1 and 2 synth parts and gen 3 samples. Along with a huge amount of technical data that people would kill over mostly the brotherhood well... the west coast chapters at least.
"Ugggghhh,"
The sound of someone groaning grabbed his attention causing him to turn pistol still in hand and turned to see...
'What the fuck?'
Six looked down his eyes behind a red-eyed visor while the institute jumpsuit wearing 'mutant' opened her blue eyes to look up at the duster wearing messager.
"Six? Is that you?" The woman spoke with a stronger Russian accent.
The courier couldn't believe his cybernetic eyes thinking his eye implants were glitching but they weren't and he knew it.
It was kinda hard to believe when seeing something completely impossible.
Then again he was reborn as the courier but this?
This had to take the cake.
"Um... Six you alright?"
Not saying a word the courier fell backward onto the grassy hill causing the woman to panic seeing her friend drop backward without saying a word.
"SIX!" Grabbing him into her arms the 'mutant' looked down at the courier whose slightly cybernetic brain was still trying to process what he saw.
Six would commonly joke with his brain whenever the two were separated about making a special 'mutant' or making a special breed of deathclaw that was slightly 'human'.
Only that, just jokes, nothing more nothing less!
He knew what happens when someone played god and knew it never ended well! But did he actually do it?
Did he do something he promised he knew would do?
DID HE PLAY GOD!?
Just to make an actual furry?!
"Six, talk to me!" The woman shook him. "Are you hurt!? Did you get hit!? Six say something!!!"
Reaching for his mask she pulled off the gasmask as the slight red tint around him vanished while his eyes look upon the female 'mutant'.
"Please say something..." Worry filled her voice while the courier turned his head towards her.
"Is this real?"
Not getting what he meant the mutant looked around and like the courier was baffled by what she saw around her.
"I... I think so... I've never seen this much green before," She looked down at the courier who was still staring at her. "Six are you alright?"
"Are you real?" Six asked.
The lady looked at him confused.
"Six are you alright? Your acting strange," She spoke as if she knew him personally. "Six don't you recognize me?"
Six did recognize her... he just... processing how this was possible for the two to meet along with her seemly knowing of him but he had no memory of ever meeting her in the flesh.
"Six it's me... Nikolya... Your partner,"
(???)
"High council I have come before you to speak about the present threat to our very way of life," Spoke the unicorn under the light.
"Speak Brother,"
"I have come to the conclusion that our enemies are plotting to corrupt the future generations of pony kind and steal the very power of friendship from us," The pony stated hold out his hand. "I have been ever-watchful to pony youth and I fear that I must come before you, not as a member of the EEA but a member of the council that our future is under threat,"
"What is threatening us, brother?" Asked one of the blank white-masked ponies.
"The non-ponies threaten to seep into our lively hood and will one day come to whip us all out once they obtain the power that rightly belongs to ponies only," Spoke the dark-robed pony. "Our newest princess has let our guard down and allowed our true enemy right into our very homes allowing them to easily kill our children if they are ever given the chance,"
All eyes looked upon the white-coated unicorn while he spoke lowering his gloved hand.
"It's not just Princess Twilight but all four of them for they allowed the storm king to invade our capital within a few short hours and allow the literal god of chaos to walk among us unchecked!" Spoke the unicorn under the spotlight. "I aim to believe that the princesses are no longer suited for the well-being for ponykind and must be... removed,"
Many of the masked ponies murmured amount themselves before a hand was raised as the murmuring stopped by a pony dressed in royal clothes with a mask that was decorated, unlike the many blank white-masked. Wearing a hood over his head along with more clothing over the rest of the body to hide his identity along with a spell enchantment in his mask to conceal his voice.
"Chancellor Neighsay the council has heard your statement and we have been debating this among ourselves for some time and we agree with your calms for it is time we began our plans to retake what is rightful ours," The masked pony stated. "For we must be the iron fist that needs the velvet glove that the princesses are,"
Neighsay bowed his head with his hand over his chest.
"I full heartily agree elder," Neighsay rose up. "Order must be maintained through control... we must do what needs to be done,"
The elder then spoke in his altered voice.
"All those who agree with proceeding with our plans?"
"Aye,"
"Those against?"
The room was ever quiet.
"Then we shall begin," The elder rose up pointing at Neighsay. "Brother Neighsay you will continue being apart of the EEA for the time being and when the time comes the council will call upon you,"
Neighsay bowed.
"Of course Elder I will await my call,"
Author's Note
The third time's the charm right guys?
Hopefully, I got this right this time...
Did things a little different made it as the MC had actual time in the wasteland and had some form of experience rather than memory implantation like normal displace/isekai.
Along with me adding in a can of call back to my enclave/institute sorry I did a while back that never got off the ground.
And me removing the tale of two wastelands from the book making the MC solely the courier as much as I like the lone waunder it's just the courier is the second powerful character of fallout.
(The first being the chosen one from fallout 2 who is quote: "a god among men")
Just wanted to set the foundation to this story and yes the courier is still somewhat human. As for his newfound 'partner' and why she's you know... different from a common 'mutant'.
Let's just say Wild wasteland is a fun trait in an already wacky wasteland that is the original fallout we all love.
Hell doctor who exists in Fallout 1:

And even in fallout new vegas without wild wasteland:

Along with the hyper advance tech that the fallout-verse has kinda made it that anything can really happen.
Till then lads and lasses...
Peace.
