Delta Spark is not your average Pegasus.
Born with his cutie mark, and the only Pegasus in the past 1500 years to be able to use magic, Delta tries to live his life as a normal pony.
But if you believe in normality when you're the center of a forgotten prophecy written by Starswirl the Bearded himself, fortelling an ancient evil's return, and old friends with the Elements of Harmony? You must be new around here.

AN: This is the first story to my series 'The Spark of Logic', and all my works will be featured around this character and his adventures. Not all will be long like this, and I will be revising chapters, so tell me what's good and whats not.

Prologue

If I could summarize my life in a few words, words like ‘simple’ or ‘ordinary,’ would not be included.

‘Unique’ comes to mind. ’Adventurous.’ ‘Thrilling.’ ‘Powerful.’ ‘Unusual.’ ‘Surprising.’

‘Dangerous.’

‘Deadly.’

Ever since the day I was born, my fate has been laid out before me, by powers above and older than Celestia herself.

But the final choice has always been mine.

To use the post powerful of the Elements to strike down an ancient evil, or to use it with him, against the very ponies I’ve sought so hard to protect?

Or do I turn my back on them all, to leave the world to fend for itself?

Everypony has a dark side.

This is the story of mine.

But before I can tell you that story, I have to tell you the story of the horrors I’d have to face, and the friends I’d have to make to help me on my journey.

My story of adventure and friendship. Of times of joy, and of tragedy.

Of the experiences I’d have to endure, all to help me become the colt I was destined to be.

My name is Delta Spark. I’m the last hope for Equestria in its darkest hour.

And this is my story.

A Very Special Colt

It all started on June 17, in the 981st year of Celestia’s reign. The day of my birth.

My parents often told me of the feelings they possessed on that incredible day, as my mom laid on the hospital bed, moaning in pain. My dad stood next to her, watching the doctors and nurses rush around the baby blue walled hospital room (the color was supposed to calm the soon-to-be-mother down. Mom said that it doesn’t do shit when you’re “pushing a melon out from between your hind legs), while my mother crushed his hoof between hers.

My father, Thunder Spark, a strong, gray Pegasus with a black spiked mane, described it as a mix between happiness, anxiety, panic, excitement, and a little gas (don’t ask, I never did)

My mother, Cloud Splitter, an attractive, black Pegasus with a flowing red mane, simply described it as severe pain followed by great joy once she saw me. She would then describe how ‘perfect’ I looked.

“Just like an angel,” she would say.

A small Pegasus with a white coat, and a shaggy red mane and tail, both of which had a bold, black stripe going down the middle.

On closer inspection of my head and face, she noticed that my snout was shorter than most colts, resembling more that of a mare (a trait I proudly get from her). She would describe my eyes as “two crystal orbs, each as red as fire rubies.”

My wings were perfectly shaped. Even though they were still small and needed development through flight, she could tell that I would be a powerful flyer once I learned. The feathers closest to by body were the same pale-white as my coat, while the outer feathers, adopted the same color as my blood-red mane.

But while going to examine my tail, my mom found something she didn’t expect. A very distinct mark on my flank.

“Thunder?” mom called for my dad who was talking to the doctor.

“Thunder,” she repeated, this time with more intensity.

Dad turned his head. “Look at this,” she continued beckoning towards my flank. My father leaned in closer, trying to get a better look.

On my flank was a cutie mark. It was a Greek letter Delta, the same red as my mane ant tail. It rested on top of two parallel, diagonal black lines, the upper parts of which pointed toward my head.

Dad moved his head back, confusion clearly written on his face.

“What does it mean?” Mom sounded as confused as dad looked.

“Well,” he struggled for a bit, the pointed to the red symbol on my flank. “That’s Greek, the letter Delta I believe, but the two lines…”He shrugs his shoulders.

“I don’t know,” he finally admits. “I guess this just means that our little colt is more special than we thought,” he answers with a chuckle.

“Yes,” Mom responds forcing a smile, though confusion still decorates her face. “I guess it does.”

There is silence between the two of them for a minute, the only sounds being those of the busy hospital, and my soft cooing.

“So what do we name him?” The new mother asks, breaking the silence.

The recently made father scratches his chin before answering.

“Well… I think that it only makes sense that we name him Delta,” he answers, gesturing to my flank.

The smile returns to Mom’s face. “That’s a perfect name,” she responds, before returning her attention to me. “A perfect name for very special colt,” she says playfully while lightly tickling my tummy, which makes me giggle.

Soon after I fall asleep in my mother’s arms, and she leans up against the hospital bed’s pillows.

“My little Delta,” she coos, before falling asleep herself.

Little did either of my parents know how special I really was.

For as soon as that cutie mark appeared, the first part of a prophecy that has been long since forgotten was fulfilled.

And from here? The surprises that filled me would just keep coming.
