Getting Hitched
Pop the question
Load Full StoryThe three tribes of ponies have been reunited at last. And it was all thanks to the courage and kindness of the most beautiful Earth pony or should I say alicorn that Sheriff Hitch Trailblazer had known since they were young.
“I have to do it”, Hitch said in serious tone but quietly so nopony else could hear. He reached into his belt and pulled out a diamond ring in a velvet box.
Hitch told Izzy Pipp and Zip on what he’d planned to do that day. Izzy was so excited that her horn caused crazy magic all throughout Maritime Bay.
Sprout made himself very clear that he wanted no part of this plan. He was still pretty mad that he got fired after his tyrannical rage and got grounded by his mother after all.
So Zip got the ring Pipp made the picnic and Izzy chose the most romantic spot under the big tree with flowers.
They also did their best to keep it a surprise from Sunny. Although Izzy nearly spilled the beans. Twice in fact.
Sunny was unaware of it nonetheless. She was still getting used to her horn and wings. But she knew that if her father were here he would have been proud of her.
“We’re finally reunited Dad.”, Sunny said at the picture of her father. “And now look at me. I’m an alicorn.” Sunny wiped a tear from her eye.
Hitch had to make sure that the mare of his dreams didn’t suspect a thing about his proposal to her until his picnic with her at sunset.
But he knew no matter what happens good or bad he had to do it. And yet he still wondered what her answer would be. Yes or no.
As the day came to a close he went to the lighthouse to pick her up.
He knocked on the door. Sunny came out looking more beautiful then he’d ever seen her.
“Hey Hitch. Ready to go?” asked Sunny smiling wide.
“Uh… yeah sure”, replied Hitch smiling nervously.
“Hitch? Are you alright?” Sunny asked suspiciously.
“I’m fine. Really”, Hitch said really quickly doing his best to stay calm.
“Why are you nervous? Is there something you want to tell me?” insisted Sunny.
“Come with me. I have to show you something.”, Hitch said after a sigh.
Hitch and Sunny walked to the field where the tree stood. They looked and saw a picnic made for two.
“What a surprise”, Sunny said with a smile. Hitch nodded in silence trying to hide his nerves. They sat down and ate. The sun slowly started to set. Sunny looked at the sky peacefully. She looked at Hitch.
“Hitch? What is it?” asked Sunny with concern.
“Nothing”, Hitch replied.
“Hitch you’ve been acting weird all day”, Sunny said. “And I’m tired of it.”
“I… um…”, Hitch paused trying not crack. “I better do this now.”
“Do what now?” wondered Sunny. “What’s going on?”
Hitch looked at Sunny with a serious face. He took a deep breath.
“I’ll tell you what’s going on”, he said. He went down on one leg. Sunny was surprised.
“Sunny you and I have been best friends for a long time”, Hitch remarked. “After you’ve shown me the truth of the other ponies I realize that I’m in love with you.”
“What?” Sunny said surprised.
“I just want to say that, Sunny Starscout, I want to spend the rest of my life with you”, said Hitch giving her the diamond ring. Sunny gasped.
“Will you marry me?” Hitch asked.
Sunny felt tears in her eyes. But they were tears of joy.
“Yes I will marry you Hitch Trailblazer!” Sunny shouted enthusiastically.
Hitch slipped the ring on her left front hoof and Hitch and Sunny embraced and kissed just as the sun set completely making way for the moon.
Pipp was live-streaming the whole thing.
After Hitch and Sunny were engaged Izzy immediately volunteered as wedding planner and took the couple to multiple possible wedding locations.
They eventually chose near the meadow. Pipp took Sunny to a bridal shop in Zephyr Heights to pick out a wedding dress. She chose a wedding dress with white lace and gold trim.
Months passed and Hitch and Sunny were having their bachelor and bachelorette parties.
At Sunny’s party Izzy set up an arts and crafts booth while Pipp and Zip set up a photo booth for all the ponies to take selfies. Hitch’s party was almost a disaster when Sprout nearly made a riot.
A month later it was the wedding day. Hitch looked nervous. His hooves nearly got cold at the alter.
Sunny came in the most beautiful wedding dress with her mane all the way down.
“She’s an angel”, Hitch said with a smile. Sunny walked down the aisle while all the ponies said their congratulations.
“Dearly beloved,” said the preacher. “Earth ponies Pegasus ponies and unicorns. We are gathered here today to celebrate the marriage of Hitch Trailblazer and Sunny Starscout. We have seen them grow from childhood friends to bride and groom.”
“Sunny I never knew that someday I would marry you. We have been friends forever. Your kindness has shown me the love that I didn’t see in others”, said Hitch tears streaming down his face.
“Hitch we have been through so much together. We had good times and bad times and yet we manage to stay best friends. And now that we’re about to be married I just know that I’ll always have your back”, Sunny replied tears also streaming down her face. They exchanged rings.
“Do you Sunny, take this stallion to be your lawfully wedded husband in good times in bad through sickness and health as long as you both shall live?” the preacher asked.
“I do,” said Sunny.
“And do you Hitch take this mare to be your lawfully wedded wife in good times in bad in sickness and in health as long as you both shall live?” repeated the preacher.
“I do”, Hitch said with confidence.
“Then by the power invested me of Maritime Bay I now pronounce you husband and wife,” said the preacher. “You may kiss the bride.”
Hitch and Sunny kissed as the crowd cheered Izzy crying.
The happy couple were off to their honeymoon. All the ponies were blessed at the marriage of Hitch and Sunny Trailblazer.
