Facts
The changeling hive looked beautiful, now being covered with greenery, the hive looked amazing, and Twilight Sparkle was currently in it.
She was right now meeting with Thorax, and the two were talking about the biology of changelings. They had just started together, and Twilight had her notebook out.
“Alright Thorax,” said Twilight, “let’s begin.”
The first question Twilight had was a pretty easy one.
“Why were the changelings black before? Why did they have holes in their horns and legs” she asked.
“That was because it was a previous stage, before our metamorphosis and we became super bright and colorful,” Thorax explained, “We had holes in our legs because we were starving. Didn’t you see how the holes in my body got a lot smaller after a few months living in the Crystal Empire?”
“Huh, yeah, I did notice that,” Twilight said, “Alright that’s all I need to know, next question!”
This question should’ve been as easy as the last.
“So, how do changelings change into other creatures?” Twilight asked.
“Oh, well it’s quite simple,” said Thorax, “You know Thaumic energy, right?”
“Yeah, I do,” said Twilight, “Actually, I even planned to write a paper on it before I became the Princess of Friendship. I scrapped the Idea later.”
“Well we use Thaumic Energy to change the very atoms of our body,” explained Thorax.
“That’s just like the standard shapeshifting spell I know about,” said Twilight, “The Thaumic Energy keeps your brain and it sends your brain signals, right?”
“Yep,” replied Thorax, “We can use our Thaumic reserves to keep our disguise on, and let me tell you, our reserves are MASSIVE, compared to ponies’ reserves.”
“Really? How large are they?” asked Twilight.
“The regular changeling can store 5000 Thaums, in our reserves,” replied Thorax.
“What!? The average pony can store 2000!” Twilight exclaimed.
“Yeah, we have such massive reserves to keep our disguise up,” said Thorax, “Chrysalis had even larger reserves because she was a Queen, and I also have larger reserves because I’m a King.”
“How large were her reserves?” asked Twilight.
“Noling knows how large they were,” replied Thorax, “Some Changelings think she could hold seventy-five thousand Thaums.”
“That’s nearly as large as Celestia’s reserves, which are 100,000.” Said Twilight, “But, they had to have been larger for her to beat her.”
“Yeah,” Thorax replied.
“Now… Let’s see,” Twilight said. Twilight then realized there was something she wanted to know about changelings.
“Thorax, how in Tartarus do changelings ‘eat’ love?” asked Twilight.
Thorax appeared startled at the question.
“Wh- What?” he asked.
“How do changelings eat love?” asked Twilight once again.
“Oh,” said Thorax, “Ok, that’s pretty easy to explain.”
“So, how do you do it?” asked Twilight.
“Well for starters, we don’t just eat love, we can also eat other emotions,” Thorax explained.
“Ah,” said Twilight,” I thought of that.”
“And also, we absorb love, we don’t eat it, that’s just a term we use,” continued Thorax.
“Huh, alright, thanks for that,” said Twilight, as she was scribbling down notes.
“We also don’t even absorb the emotions themselves,” said Thorax.
“Then, what DO you absorb?” asked Twilight.
“We absorb the thaumic energy generated by emotions,” answered Thorax.
“ETE (Emotional, Thaumic Energy)?” asked Twilight.
“Yep,” said Thorax.
“So, are emotions the only way you get nutrition?” Twilight asked.
“Eh, no, we can survive on normal food for some time, but eventually we do need Emotional Energy, that’s why we invaded Canterlot, due to the lack of food,” replied Thorax.
“Oh,” said Twilight, “I didn’t know that.”
“Don’t worry, it was also because Chrysalis wanted to invade Equestria and show her power,” Thorax said, “She, was pretty arrogant.”
“Yeah, I know that from the two times I’ve met her,” replied Twilight.
“Okay, is there anything else you want to ask?” Thorax questioned.
“Yeah, Thorax,” Twilight said, “Can you tell me why your eyes have no pupils in your eyes?”
“Oh, that?” asked Thorax, “That’s for our eyesight, it’s really good, but we can’t see in the dark.”
“Alright, how strong is your chitin?” Twilight asked.
“It’s really strong, it managed to keep us protected from that blast of magic Cadance and Shining Armor gave us during the Invasion of Canterlot. A normal pony would’ve been killed from a blast like that directed to them.” Answered Thorax.
“Thank Celestia,” said Twilight, “Now, what were the fangs that you had for?”
“Oh, we-” Thorax was interrupted by Pharynx, who walked in and saw Twilight with him.
“Hey guys, what are you two doing?” asked Pharynx.
“Oh, we’re just talking about changeling biology,” said Twilight.
“Y-yeah Pharynx,” Thorax said.
Pharynx’s eyes narrowed, and then he smirked, “Better not be cheating on Ember, Thorax,”
“Pharynx!” Thorax yelled as he tried to get Pharynx, but Pharynx managed to get away, laughing his chitin off.
“Sometimes, I want to stuff cotton in his mouth,” Thorax told Twilight when he came back to her, “Nowadays, after his metamorphosis, he plays pranks on everyling.”
“Huh,” said Twilight, “Well at least it’s better than him trying to make the hive go back to what it was.”
“Yeah,” replied Thorax,
“Are you and Ember dating?” asked Twilight.
“What!? No!” exclaimed Thorax, “We’re just friends, Pharynx likes to joke about it and I have to explain to others that we aren’t.”
“Alright, can you continue from where you left off?
“Yeah, sure, the fangs we used to have? Those were used to put our victims to sleep, and after, we would put them in cocoons and suck their love out.” Said Thorax
“OK, that sounds dark,” replied Twilight while looking over the notes she had written so far, “Now, tell me how made that sticky substance that stuck us in place.”
“Oh, that?” asked Thorax, “We had special hidden mandibles that produced it, we used it in building the hive and for capturing other creatures, we can still do it, here, watch!”
Thorax produced his mandibles from his mouth which honestly looked more terrifying than the Headless Horsemare. The green substance came out of the ends of the mandibles and dripped right onto the ground which disgusted Twilight.
“See,” Thorax said after retracting his mandibles, “We also use it to bite things, but we don’t do that anymore, didn’t it look cool?”
Thorax was oblivious to the face of disgustTwilight was giving as he smiled at her.
“Is something wrong?” he asked.
“Okay, I think we don here,” said Twilight, “Bye now!”
Twilight teleported away to most likely try to calm her stomach, leaving Thorax to just stand there, staring at the spot where Twilight was standing.
“Okay, I sure am glad that we had that conversation,” Thorax said to himself.
“Starting to fall for her little bro?” asked Pharynx while coming out of his hiding spot.
“PHARYNX! JUST STOP!” Thorax yelled.
“AHAHAHAHAHAHA!” cackled Pharynx.
Thorax gave chase to Pharynx, with Pharynx laughing during the entirety of it.
