The Eye Burner
Spike had the biggest smile ever on his adorable face. Because his amazing mare friend brought him a new pony x three hundred sixty as a gift, he put its box on their bed. It was slightly sunken into the blanket due to its weight. He used his claws to cut the tape and other materials preventing him from opening his new gaming console box. After a few swift seconds later, Spike opened it without any resistance. He saw his console with all of its accessories and necessary wires were into neatly sorted sections.
Spike grabbed his pony x three hundred sixty and put it into one of their television stand empty slots. Then he hooked up all of its wire into it and their massive flat screen. After turning the TV and console on, he grabbed the controller and sat down in his bean bag. The television screen turned black instead of blue. Then the pony x three hundred sixty signature booting up animated logo. It was a silver pony shaped that eventually had a glowing green x from the collision by a magic aura.
“Babe, what is our Wi-Fi password?” Spike inquired after his system, asked for a Wi-Fi connection to download the latest software update.
“My cute little drake without any spaces, and it is all caps,” She replied in her reading room.
“Thanks, babe.” He acquired a growing red blush on his face while selecting their Wi-Fi network and entering its password. After an unknown amount of time and restarts later, it finally finished updating its software. He sat up in his chair and automatically did the setup like a robot. Within ten minutes of selecting his time zone, language, other things to create an account or sign in, menus appeared on the screen.
Spike selected to create an account button and set up his account; This process took a few short moments to complete. He was so proud of coming up with his awesome username. It was SPIKETHEHERO112011. He finished creating his account and got a free one-month trial of pony x live. He only needed to do the last step before it let him go to his console home screen. It was to create an avatar that would symbolize him. Unfortunately, there were no dragon options due to pony x three hundred sixty developers. So, he decided on a cutiemarkless light purple earth pony with emerald eyes, spiky mane, and tail.
Spike finally made it to the home screen and was disgusted by its background due to it being a shameless marketing deployment. It was a wall of new game posters without any price on them. He quickly changed it to a cute picture of his mare friend, and he passionately kissed each other before customizing him to his preferences. After a few moments of smiling at his new background, Spike went to the digital store’s free games section. Within a few seconds of browsing the selection, there was one unique puzzle game named Shaper HD.
“Interesting...” Spike thought curiously as he selected the Shaper HD icon to get more of its info. After he read its summary and saw its icon art, he decided to download and play it. With the speed of their internet, this game was downloaded in a few seconds. A pop-up noticed that his new game was downloaded by repeatedly appearing at the bottom of the screen. After going to the home screen, he pressed on the Shaper HD icon with the a button on his controller. The television screen was black for a couple of seconds before the game producers' logos appeared.
All of their logos showed and disappeared; the start menu materialized on the screen. Spike immediately noticed the game was blurred around it. It was a simple up-down style menu. Shaper HD’s three-game modes were at the top. Meanwhile, exit the game, achievements, options, and other game stuff were at the bottom. He carelessly picked the first game mode, which was the marathon.
“This game mode is a test of how long you can survive; good luck!’ Spike read its description before going to what was the difficulty that you like to play screen. After selecting the easy option, the how-to-play explanation screen appeared. He closely read its text and looked at its pictures.
“This game will be easy to beat it and get all the achievements for it,” Spike exclaimed in his mind as he started to play Shaper HD. After a few minutes of playing the game, he regrettably discovered its flaws and wished he did not download it on his console.
First, its cheerful soundtrack was annoying as a buck. Second, the puzzle pieces’ colors were too bright and bothered his eyes like acid. Lastly, the game was boring and rigged to its players. After a couple of minutes of matching the same pieces together to make the shape that symbolized their profile, Spike called it quits as he shut down his console and television with their remotes. Then he got up from his seat and left the room.
He slowly walked to Twilight's reading room without thinking about the painful and tired feeling that he was experiencing right now. He went to his mare friend and started to cuddle her side.
“I thought you’re going to play your new game console until we go to sleep for the night,” She exclaimed with a sweet smile after bookmarking the spot that she stopped at her book.
“I was going to. However, my head and eyes are hurting from the badly designed game. I only want to sleep now to relieve myself from pain.” He replied with his muzzle deep in her fur. She felt horrible for him while his breath softly tickled her.
“Okay, sweetie,” Twilight said as she got up from her spot and used her magic to put Spike on her back. In response to this, Spike slowly wrapped his arms around her neck as he cuddled her. This action caused her to smile warmly. Before Twilight left her reading room, she blew out the candle that gave this room light. She entered their bedroom by moonlight’s guidance. Then she put her sweetie in their bed before joining him.
After they got comfortable rearranging their bodies into a spooning position, they happily went to sleep in each other’s embrace.
