//-------------------------------------------------------// The Show Must Go On ~ ! -by Zulukittens- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// So The Tale Begins //-------------------------------------------------------// So The Tale Begins So The Tale Begins The little foal rushed into the hospital room of 185 giggling insanely and in more than just a happy mood to see the mare laying down on the hospital bed before her. She had brought a huge bouquet of bright red tulips to the mare, her favorite. She tried to speak with the bouquet in her mouth but it only came out as indistinguishable nonsense. "Showscape darling calm down I cant understand you with that bouquet of tulips in your mouth." She laughed as her daughter struggled to find a base in the room that did not already contain flowers, she was in a hurry to spit out what she had wanted to say. "Here darling just give them to me."  The mare had extended a hoof from where she had been resting them comfortably in her lap waiting patiently for the filly to bring them to her. She brought them over to her mother in such a rush that she  had almost tripped over her own front hooves in the 4 feet it took to get to the bed her mother rested on. The mare let out another giggle and took the flowers from the anxious filly's mouth which she had gladly given up. "Now showscape, what were you trying to tell me?" The mare raised an eyebrow at the excitement on her filly's face. Showscape's voice burst "Mother you will never guess what happened today! They had sign ups for the upcoming talent show and i'm going to enter so that you can watch me on stage! Wont that be great mother?! The doctor even said that you would be okay if you came! Will you will you will you?! Oh please oh please oh pleasssseeeeeee?" Showscape was jumping up and down as fast as her body would allow. The mare looked a bit saddened but she began to smile again sweetly. "Showscape, I dont know if I will be able to make your show, But I will be darned if I dont try my absolute best darling. Just don't get to upset if I cant make it, Okay love?" The mare reached down to pick up the finicky filly off the ground and set her in the middle of her lap. Showscape looked up at her mother with a disappointed look on her face, She soon remembered that her mother was very sick and it was not her fault if she could not be there to watch her preform on stage. "Its okay mother, I know that you are sick and that you cant always come." She had a huge smile on her face even though she was still a bit disappointed on the inside, But the talent show was still 3 weeks away so it was not for sure that her mother could not come. Showscape smiled hugely at this idea and began to brainstorm with her about what things she could do for the talent show. She had really wanted her cutie mark and had thought that entering the talent show could maybe get her the mark she so badly wanted. She hoped for song notes or anything related to singing so that she could be just like her mother. She wanted to sing songs as beautifully as her mother had around the house, Why her mother just let her talent go to waste rather than going to the record company and becoming huge showscape would never know. She asked her mother on many separate occasions and always got the same answer as the first time she had asked. A stallion had walked into the room with a warm welcoming smile for the both of them. "Daddy!" Showscape had risen her voice far louder than needed for the small space they were currently occupying. The mare looked up from her filly to return the warm smile given by the stallion. "Hello there dear, So I hear that our little showscape will be in the upcoming talent show." Her voice gave off a proud tone, "Reminds me of when I was just a small filly like you" She rustled Showscape's hair with her hoof. Showscape looked up at her mother "And I bet you were the best pony there! You had to have been, I bet you won didn't you?" Her mother simply closed here eyes and shook her head slightly. "Showscape winning does not matter, Its having fun that matters. And no, I did not win the talent contest." She looked supprised at her mother. "You mean you didn't win the talent show, but your voice is so beautiful. Didn't you sing?" "Excuse me sir, mam" The doctor walked in and smiled at showscape. "Ms. showscape"  he bowed his head a bit. The filly just giggled and bowed her head a bit too, "Mr. Alex" She let out another giggle before snuggling up to her mother. "I'm sorry to interrupt but Floral needs her rest." The stallion smiled at Dr. Alex "Of course doctor, Come on showscape its time to go home." The filly refused to get up, "But fatherrrrrr, we just got here its not fair!" Showscape pouted at her father and looked up at her mother with pleading eyes. "I'm sorry darling but I promise you will get to see me soon okay?" She kissed her filly on the head, picked her up and set her on the ground. "Now you be a good little filly for your father okay Showscape? I cannot wait to see your talent show, I will try my best to rest up enough so I will be able to go." The two walked out the door leaving only the doctor and Floral in the room. Showscape looked up at her father, "Mother will come to my performance wont she?" The filly asked with hopeful eyes. Her father looked straight ahead and after a while of walking answered his filly's question. "I'm not sure honey, It depends on how she is in 3 weeks time." Showscape accepted the answer as the best she would get and happily trotted on home with her father knowing that hot cocoa would soon be in her hooves and belly. //-------------------------------------------------------// A Friends Kindness //-------------------------------------------------------// A Friends Kindness A Friends Kindness It was early in the morning that Showscape awoke to the sunshine penetrating through her curtains and onto her pillow where she rested her head. She could tell it was going to be a bright beautiful day with plenty of sun to play in with her best friends. She lazely dragged herself out of bed and into the bathroom to brush her teeth, she made sure to keep herself clean so as to be polite to everypony she would encounter later that day. Showscape's mind raced with fun ideas her friends and her could do, Maybe the park. She could pack a picnic, although I cant cook she thought as she sighed and took a gulp of water to slosh around in her mouth before spitting out the mixture of toothpaste and saliva into the sink and down the drain. What could I do, i'm no good at sports, I cant draw and I definitely cannot cook anything without it being burnt to a crisp. The filly recalled the last time she had tried to make apple porridge, this little feat of hers did not go over that well. She was half way down the stairs before she tripped on her own hooves and her own force quickly propelled her down the stairs and onto the floor with a satisfying bang. The filly was use to this kind of thing happening to her, its as if she was a walking bad luck magnet, Even her friends knew not to stand to close in case of an accident occurring. Anywhere within a radius of 2 feet was considered a hazard zone, As to why she was so clumsy, This trait was passed down from her grandfather on her fathers side of the family tree. Conveniently it just so happened to skip her father and head straight for her. An athletic cutie mark was out of the question, showscape didn't mind though, she knew what kind of cutie mark she wanted. "Showscape, breakfast is ready!" Boke had called up to his daughter but was surprised to find her hobbling her way into the kitchen at a turtles running pace. The stallion looked down upon the filly in the door way with a look that said 'I'm trying so hard not to laugh right now' but he soon had this under control and went over to see if she was okay. "You hurt anywhere dear?" He had started to pickup each of her legs and inspect them for any injuries. "No father, just a few bruises, gravity decided that it wanted to strike early this morning while I was still half asleep on my way down the stairs." Showscape let her father finish looking at her then walked over to the table and waited for her food. The flowers in the base looked as if the winter frost had gotten to them and drained the color from their very essence. "Father shouldn't we get new flowers for the base? These ones look dead" She pointed to the colorless flowers occupying the center of the table. Her father simply glanced over to them for a brief moment and went back to dishing up there strawberry and cabbage porridge, He placed a steaming bowl in front of the filly who returned the smile he gave her with a disgusted cringe. "Showscape, you know that if you do not eat your breakfast that there will be no friends today right young lady? Besides its good for you, this will give you plenty of energy for the whole afternoon." The filly was not buying what he was saying for one instance, how could something so good look so terrible and un-edible, not to mention the smell that it gave off. Yet she swallowed the instincts of avoiding such things her father would cook and tried to devour it as quickly as possible as to not taste as much of it. Lets face it, her father made the weirdest foods ever, pineapple and carrot pancakes, hay fries with a strawberry and lime dipping sauce. If only grandpa hadn't taught father how to cook, these odd recipes could have been avoided. Downing the last of her strawberry and cabbage porridge showscape almost gagged her self to death on the way out the door. "Hey, be back before 5 okay?" Boke called through the frame of the door in the direction of his daughter. Shook his head and continued with his daily routines. Showscape ran as fast as her legs would take a filly her size across the small town she lived in. Rivington was a small and peaceful country side town, as the name suggests the town was located near a large river used for trade routes of produce or almost anything you needed really. The filly was on her way to the river side market to meet up with her friend migumi. Migumi had promised to help her write a song when she had told her that she would be partaking in the talent show. The excitement almost filled the air all around her as the market and the river came into view, even from so far away she could see her friends long curly orange mane tied up into huge poofy pig tails on each side of her head. The most distinguishable feature besides the ungodly amount of hair on her head was her pure white coat with the blue bubbly markings she had on her ears and her hooves. She was such a strange little filly, the thing that made even less sense was the fact that her parents and grandparents had not been white or any color near white for a long time. Trying to make logic out of a unicorns coat and mane were harder than it looked, magic was a strange thing so it was better not to argue and just go with it. "Showscape!" Migumi yelled and started to sprint towards her best friend. They collided with one another after showscape had decided to pounce on her poor friend. They rolled quite a ways until migumi was ontop of showscape, when migumi could open her eyes after the huge dizzy spell that lasted for nearly 3 minutes after how far they had rolled, ontop of her overly prone ways of getting dizzy the rolling didn't help. She had looked down at her best friend she had been resting ontop of and blushed heavily as soon as she realised her position from the view point of passer byes looking at them. Luckily showscape was too dull to realise that her friend might have been sweet on her for some time, and that this was the reason for her insane amount of blushing rather than the embarrassment. Migumi still blushing proceeded on getting off of her friend. Showscape picked herself off the ground and was jumping up and down due to her normal bubbly attitude she always seemed to have around her friends. "Migumi are you ready to help me with my song lyrics? I need a realllllllly good song so that I can win the talent show! My mom might be able to go so I want this song to be realllllly special!" the filly could not seem to keep her self still, the excitement was pouring from her like buckets of water being scooped out of a sinking boat in the middle of the ocean. Migumi smiled and giggled a bit before answering her friends over enthusiastic request. "Of course, what are friends for lets get started right away!" with this they ran straight to the park and took residence under the oldest oak tree in town, migumi knew how much her friend loved oak tree's, especially this one in particular. With the cool shade to hide them from the harsh afternoon sun, they wrote and wrote and wrote until the sun almost touched the top of the far side of the bakery, but with little to no success on either of their parts. The two friends were a bit discouraged and disheartened by their lack of creativity. "I'm sorry showscape, I tried my best but coming up with lyrics that are suppose to be special is really hard when you cant see what the other person has seen about the person your writing about." Showscape bumped up against her friend and laughed. "Oh migumi its okay cause its not your fault, besides i'm sure I will think of something when I get home or later tonight." She gave her filly friend a huge warm smile. Migumi blushed and looked up at the sky with a huge smile on her face as well. "Well I wish you the best of luck, but you have to promise that as soon as your done with it I will be the first person to hear you sing it, got it?" Migumi closed her eyes and smiled at showscape. "You got a deal migumi" the two split up at the cross roads and walked home separately. The sun set just below the tree line by the time showscape finally entered her house and closed the door. //-------------------------------------------------------// A Song From The Heart //-------------------------------------------------------// A Song From The Heart A Song From The Heart "Oh mother dear you never leave me quite, a, lone ~ Your constant hugs, your little smiles, bring me home ~ Oh mother dear you do your best, thats all i want ~ Oh mother dear I do agree, I do agree with you, That little things that worry your mind, Can be the end of you ~ But mother dear do you agree, do you agree with me? ~ That silly things that make you smile, let you live longer in the end ~" "Oh Showscape that was amazing!, Did you really write that all by yourself?" Migumi hugged her friend tight. Showscape's laughs came out raspy because of Migumis strangle hold on her neck. "Yes Migumi I did, you need to loosen your grip its killing me." The filly let go of Showscape and they both giggled and smiled at each other, sharing in the happyness of that moment. "Hey to celebrate how about you meet me by that one bakery your mother loves so much, what was it called again?" Her friend looked puzzled as she searched her mind to remember the name of the bakery. Showscape giggled at her friends ignorance, they had walked past Leo'n d coffe' more times than she could remember. "Do you mean Leo'n d coffe'? How can you forget a name that you walk by almost everyday on your way to my house" she let out a fit of laughter as her friend gave her an angry pout like glare. "Stop laughing at me!" Migumi lifted her front hoof and collided it with the ground which produced a loud clack against a large stone in front of her. The filly let out a pained squeal as she withdrew her hoof from the ground and bounced around and eventually lost balance and made contact with the earth. Showscape fell over laughing half feeling bad for her friend but the act she had just displayed in front of her was just too funny. She forced herself off the ground still laughing slightly to walk over and help her friend up, she reached out a hoof in front of migumi as the filly reluctantly rolled over to ignore the offer, still cradling her hoof from the small throbs of pain every now and then. Showscape sighed and layed down next to her friend. She rubbed her face against her friends neck, "Migumi i'm sorry I was laughing at you, please don't be upset with me. Its just that the face you made was just so cute and when you hit that rock with your hoof and fell over, the way you did that was hilarious." The filly turned her head a bit to look at showscape, with a slight blush in place upon her cheeks. A few strands of her beautiful orange hair were covering her face ever so slightly. Showscape reached over and nuzzled her filly friends cheek, "I honestly am sorry migumi". Her friend flopped around to her other side so she was faceing the blond haired filly and extended her good hoof and placed it on showscapes shoulder. "Its okay, I forgive you" she looked up at her friends smiling face then back at the ground. Showscape had gotten up and extended a hoof for migumi  to prop herself up as well. She gratefully grabbed onto showscape's hoof and got up from the ground, she proceeded to brush the dirt off of herself. "Hey migumi." She had looked up to see what her friend had wanted, only to be surprised as showscape grabbed the hoof she had hurt and planted a small tender kiss on it. "There, now its all better." showscape smiled warmly at her. She only gazed into showscapes light green eyes, she felt her face grow hot, yet she had no desire to look away so soon despite herself telling her to. The fact that showscape had eyes for a foal in her class made her feel bittersweet, though she would enjoy the moment as long as she could. Her friend let go of her hoof, migumi looked at the ground embarrassed. Showscape was the first to break the small silence. "Come on how about we head over to Leo'n d coffe' im hungry." she started to trot off waving her hoof to signal her friend to follow her. Migumi just smiled and trotted off, following her friend. The front door to her house flew open as an excited and proud filly announced that she was home. She trotted up the stairs and into her room to grab the paper she had been working on almost all last night. Boke walked into the living room to sit down, he was exhausted after a long day of working to clear the skies for tomorrow. The town had few pegasi and the few that did live in the town were urged to have their job, or at least one of their jobs as a weather team pony. They were payed well but it was tiring work for only a handful of pegasi to get the jobs done. He would have closed his eyes to rest if a certain excited blond haired filly had not of jumped full speed into his lap knocking the wind out of him. "Daddy guess what I wrote?" showscape let go of the paper she had in her mouth and let it fall into her fathers lap. Her father picked up the paper after he got his breath back and began to scan over the sheet. "Oh showscape did you and migumi write this yesterday? Its very good" He patted his daughter on the head. Showscape puffed out her chest slightly and smiled, "No, I wrote it last night all by my self!" Boke drew her in for a huge bear hug and kissed her on the forehead. "I'm so proud of you, how about we go and show this to your mother tomorrow?" showscape bounced up onto her feet as fast as a cheetah "NO, she can only hear it at the talent show or else it wont be a surprise!" She frowned at her father. He let out a small sigh, "Of course honey, but remember what I told you about your mothers condition and that-" showscape interrupted her father mid sentence. "Yes I know I know, she might not be able to come to my performance" She layed down and curled her long curly blond tail around her and frowned. Showscape was upset as she remembered that her mother might not be able to watch her on stage. If she got her cutie mark her mother would not be there to witness it. Boke looked down and wrapped his arms around his filly and bent down to nuzzle her neck. "Im sure she would be proud of you even if she could not be there, besides you can always sing it for her afterward when she comes home." Showscapes ears perked up, "Wait mother might be coming home soon?" she sounded excited. Her father chuckled as showscape smiled hugely and snuggled into her fathers chest. She was tuckered out after a long day of school and fun with her friend. "I love you, you silly little filly" He stroked her hair a few times and rested his head against his chair sinking into it and getting comfortable. They were both soon fast asleep as the sunset beams fell on the walls of the room, coating everything in warm liquidy colors.
