A Haunted Nursery
Chapter 1: Back To Diapers
Load Full StoryNext ChapterScootaloo rushed out of her home, eager to meet with her friends. She had recently found a perfect place for her and her friends to check out, a haunted house of sorts. She just needed to take a friend with her, no way she'd go to one of those places alone (not that she would admit such a fact aloud).
However, before the filly could get far she was stopped by her mother who checked Scootaloo very thoroughly. "Do you have everything, Scootaloo?" The loving mother asked.
"Yes, Mom, I’ve got everything. You don’t have to worry about me. I’m not a baby, you know,'' Scootaloo groaned and started to walk away only for her mother to again stop her. "Hey, what gives?"
"Give your mom a kiss on the cheek before you leave.'' Dizzy Twister cooed, not seeming to care it'd embarrass her daughter a little bit.
"Ew, but fine…" Scootaloo sighed and did as she was told. It was a little weird but it was what moms were for: To embarrass you.
After obliging her mom’s request, Scootalooo continued to gallop to school. When she got close, she broke into a run which caused her to trip. She quickly got back up, brushed off the dust and found her friends in they're usual spot. She then greeted. "Hey girls, got any plans tonight?"
"Uh, yeah, we were goin’ to go out on Nightmare Night. You know, like everyone else." Apple Bloom declared and scratched her head.
"Really? Well, what if I told you I have a better idea?” The pegasus proposed. “I found a haunted house we can go to tonight. I heard it's got some scary spirits in there, and tonight is the perfect time to visit it!" Scootaloo declared, jumping in excitement and briefly hovering above the ground as she buzzed her tiny wings.
"A haunted house? Sweetie Belle asked, "Rarity has told me not to ever go to those. But what does she know? She’s been in spooky, dangerous places and been just fine,” So she continued. "Alright, Scoots, I'm in!!"
“What about you, Apple Bloom? You in, or are you scared of ghosts? Scootaloo asked and made some ghost noises while waving her hooves in the air.
"Scared?! I ain't scared! Besides, ghosts don't exist, Applejack says so. It's just somethin’ a bunch of really young foals believe,” Apple Bloom rolled her eyes in reply. “I can't even believe both of you think ghosts are real." She declared and walked into the school house.
"‘Something only really young foals believe’? Oh, I'll prove to her they exist! Then we’ll see who's really a young foal!" Scootaloo thought, confident that she was right on this matter. She’d heard about the house and the spirits from somepony very trustworthy, at least in her mind.
Sweetie simply smiled at Scootaloo. "Don't worry, Scootaloo, I believe you. Of course ghosts are real!" She then galloped into the schoolhouse ready to start whatever lessons Miss. Cheerilee had planned for the day.
After a few hours of boring math and other things the three fillies exited the schoolhouse. Apple Bloom decided to go home, leaving the other two fillies alone. They were gonna go to the haunted house, but first they would need to get a few supplies from their clubhouse. One thing Scootaloo definitely knew she needed was a camera, and a can of ghost spray as well to keep the nasty spirits at bay.
Scootaloo arrived back home later, and when she did her mother noticed the large saddlebag. "That's a pretty big bag, Scootaloo. What exactly do you think you're going to be doing tonight? Please tell me you aren't going to tp houses all over town. I really don't want to deal with a bunch of angry ponies like last year." Dizzy Twister commented, unamused by that memory.
"Nope, I’m not doing that again," Scootaloo declared before admitting. "Sweetie and I are going to this haunted house that’s apparently a haunted nursery. I saw it a while back, I mean it can't be as bad as ponies say it is. What's the worst that could happen? She asked and began carrying her saddlebag upstairs.
Dizzy Twister thought for a moment, she'd never heard of a “haunted nursery” before. "Oh those foals, always coming up with new places to go and new things to do. I remember when I was Scootaloo’s age." She thought and giggled at the memories.
Scootaloo put her bag on the floor next to her scooter, she then decided to take a quick nap before leaving. It was only six, a nap should help refill her since she would need all the energy for tonight. In no time at all, she drifted off to sleep and was off to dreamland to fly to her heart's desire.
A few hours went by and Scootaloo woke to a night sky lit up with stars. She quickly got out of bed, grabbed her supplies (and a few lanterns) for the journey. Then she left the house and shouted! "Bye, Mom! See you whenever!" Then she closed the door behind her, and saw Sweetie Belle sitting down, waiting for her.
The two met up and began walking to the house that contained the nursery which was close to the Everfree Forest. The journey passed uneventfully, and they soon saw the house with a sign close to it. "Sunny Nurser: All foals are welcome.” The sign read in large letters.
Upon entering the building lots of dust and spider webs surrounded the fillies and the two coughed. "Yeesh, this place is so dirty!" Sweetie Belle complained as Scootaloo got her lanterns out.
Then, without warning, the door behind the two started to shut slowly indicating someone else might be present! Seconds later it slammed and locked tightly!
The two jumped in surprise! "Heh, i-it was probably just the wind or s-something. Let's look more in this place, shall we?" Scootaloo nervously laughed in suggestion.
Reluctantly, Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle pressed onward. To their surprise, they eventually stumbled across a supply room full of diapers and other things one would need to take care of a foal. And that was not all.
A spirit could be seen in the room, and it seemed to be fully aware of the fillies entering the nursery. It seemed to be a ghostly green in color and was transparent, floating above the floor even though it was an earth pony. "Oh my gosh, you're so cute! The spirit declared. But upon.looking at them, she realized they weren't wearing anything to prevent their accidents from messing up the floor, or anything that would protect them. "Did their parents forget to put diapers on before they left?" She thought.
Scootaloo tried to reach into her saddlebag to grab the ghost spray. “G-get away from us!” She warned while shaking like a leaf!
But the spirit just crept closer. "No foals will be without diapers in my nursery. I'll be sure to watch over you until your parents can pick you up,” She cooed, and flew past the wall as she followed them into the next room when they fled. Without either filly noticing, she put a gate over the door that only she could take down. "Okay little ones. Let's get you into some fresh, clean diapers.'' She declared, slowly walking towards them and smiling happily while finally showing herself to them in all her ghostly glory.
