Equestria Ninja Scoob: The Return Of Ho Chan
Prologue
Load Full StoryNext ChapterIt was midnight at the Chinatown museum and all was quiet. A lone security guard was on patrol, shining a flashlight around a room, when he got a strange feeling and whipped around, beaming the flashlight on two jade lion statues.
"This place gives me the creeps," he muttered to himself before he left the room.
But as soon as he was gone, three kids peeked out from behind the lion statues. One was a girl and the other two were boys.
The girl was Chinese American with shoulder length black hair. She wore a black t-shirt with white trimmings, jeans, and grayish green sneakers. The first boy was African American. He wore a gray hoodie with dull red sleeves, tan pants, and light gray running shoes. The second boy had stuck up blonde hair and blue eyes. He wore a blue and white long sleeved shirt with an alien logo, gray jeans, and black van sneakers.

"Man that was close," the girl sighed in relief.
"You're telling me," the second boy agreed as the trio crept out.
"I can't believe you talked us into sneaking in here with you," the first boy said to the girl, as they began walking through the museum.
"I can't believe you had a key to this place," the second added.
"It helps when you're dad's the curator and keeps spare keys laying around the house, Max," the girl smirked, twirling a ring of keys around her finger.
"So why'd we sneak in here again, Hana?" The first boy inquired.
"For this, Pervis," the girl, Hana, answered, stopping in front of a display. Inside a glass case was an ancient Chinese dagger.
"A rusty old knife?" Max raised a brow. "That's what you brought us here for?"
"Wait," Pervis interjected and took a closer look. "Isn't that the dagger that was stolen by the Purple Dragons a year ago?"
"Yep," Hana nodded. "Until one day some scuba divers found it at the bottom of the New York bay and returned it to the museum. Dad was super stoked to have it back."
"So what's so special about some stupid dagger?" Max asked, uninterested.
Hana elbowed him in annoyance, "This 'stupid dagger' was said to have an evil spirit sealed away inside it," she explained. "The spirit of Ho Chan!"
"A spirit? You mean like a ghost?" Pervis asked worriedly.
"Pretty much," Hana nodded.
"Wait, so there's a ghost in that dagger? Awesome!" Max changed his tune, before asking, "Who's Ho Chan?"
"My grandfather told me about him when I was helping him in his shop the other day," Hana said. "Ho Chan was an evil master of qi from the Shang Dynasty, who tried to conquer the world and the universe, until he was defeated and imprisoned inside that dagger."
"Is that story even true?" Pervis questioned.
"Grampa says it is," Hana answered.
"Uh, no offense Hana, but your grampa's an antisocial hermit with major trust issues," Pervis stated.
"And he wacks me with his cane every time I try to peek under that covered cage in his shop," Max added.
"Please, he didn't hit you that hard," Hana rolled her eyes and turned to Pervis. "And since when are you the skeptic?"
"I'm not," he insisted.
"Well I know it's true," Hana stated confidently. "Cause Grampa showed me a picture of Ho Chan and I swore he was one of those ghosts that invaded New York that one time."
Pervis shuttered at the memory, "Just the thought of those ghosts roaming around gives me goosebumps."
"Personally, It was pretty wicked in my book," Max grinned. "Would've been intense for the next Halloween party."
Hana turned back towards the display, "So after figuring that, I just HAD to see the dagger now. And I figured you two tagging along would help give you material for that comic you guys are making."
"Nice!" Max smirked.
"That's great an all, Hana," Pervis said, looking around. "But now maybe we should get out of here before we get..."
"Hey!" At that moment, a light shone on the kids, making them flinch. They all turned around to find the security guard standing behind them.
" ...Caught," Pervis frowned.
Hana gave a nervous smile. "Hey there, Frank," she greeted, sheepishly. "Wonderful night isn't it?"
"Hana," Frank deadpanned, as if expecting this. "Nobody is allowed in the museum during closing time! Especially you and yer trouble makin' friends in my opinion!"
"I know I know," Hana pleaded. "I just remembered that I forgot my backpack in here!"
"Like how you forgotten your jacket last time?" Frank glared.
"Um... yes..." Hana replied awkwardly.
"We need it for our school project," Pervis added while Frank didn't buy it.
"We do?" Max asked and Hana nudged him. "Oh, right right, totally! If we don't turn it in tomorrow, we get an F-"
"Cut the crud!" Frank angrily cut him off. "Now you listen and listen good, you little tramps! I'm still on probation after the last time the three ya snunk in here! Not to mention my job's been on the line ever since those two stupid swords went missing!"
"Their called the Cursed Blades of Vengeance," Hana informed.
"Shut up!" Frank snapped. "Boss said if another artifact goes missing on my watch, then I'm fired. And I ain't letting you brats causing that to happen! So scram!"
"But-" Hana began.
"OUTTA HERE!" Frank yelled and the trio ran away, scared out of their wits. "And if I ever see any of you here again, I'll taser your butts off!" Frank turned with a huff. "I hate those kids!" He grumbled and went back to patrolling.
But he hadn't gotten very far, when suddenly, he heard the sound of glass breaking and rushed back into the room. A tall figure had smashed the display case and was taking out the dagger.
"Freeze!" Frank yelled, getting the figure's attention.
The figure was a Chinese man with a long black beard and long bony hands. He wore an ancient Chinese robe and a tall hat. But what really stuck out, was the fact that he was glowing.
"Drop the dagger, freak!" Frank ordered, pulling out his taser.
The man smirked. "If you insist..." then he threw the dagger, knocking the taser out of Frank's hand.
"What the?!" Before Frank could react, the man flew up and struck him in pressure points before he shot a lightning bolt from his hand, blasting the security guard across the room.
The man chuckled as he walked up and grabbed Frank by the throat, holding him off the ground.
“Now I will be taking my leave now and I will be talking my dagger with me,” The man smirked. “Any objections?”
Frank could only respond with the sounds of choking.
“I didn’t think so,” The Man then threw the security guard to the floor.
"Who are you? What are you?!" Frank asked in fear.
The man gave a sinister smile. "I am... Ho Chan!" Then with a loud grunt, Ho Chan struck Frank in the face, knocking him out cold.
Lightning flashed as Ho Chan's wicked laugh echoed throughout the building.

Trivia
- If your wondering why I put down the actor names at the end of this chapter, it was because in the Scooby Doo direct-to-dvd movie openings, it showed the actors names as opening credits, something that was present in the openings of the Equestria Girls specials as well. So I did the same here.
The song used is from the musical, Scooby Doo and the Lost City of Gold. * The two boys, Max and Pervis, are from the TMNT Mirage Comics. * The girl, Hana, is also from the Mirage Comics. * Max and Pervis making a comic was an idea thought up by Red Tagg.
