It was a beautiful day in Canterlot, birds were singing, the city was bustling, and everypony was happy, except for one certain blue alicorn. Luna was in her tower, in her room, with a grumpy look on her face. She was not in the mood to deal with the day and just stayed in her room, she was just about to go back to bed and not deal with today at all, until a knock at her balcony door caught her attention. She turned around to see who dared to bother her and immediately softened her expression when she saw a familiar black feline sitting there. She walked over to her balcony and opened the door to see what he wanted.
"Nightfury, what are you doing here?"
Luna said with a confused look
"Hey Luna, I know you're in a bad mood, but I couldn't head back to Ponyville and see you with a frown."
Nightfury replied with a caring voice
"Look I know I look bad but I'm just in a bad mood, I- Wait, you knew already?"
"Yep, I saw you fly overhead with a frown on your face, so I had to do something."
Luna took a second to process what her friend decided to do, placing a strained smile upon her face once she came to a verdict.
"That's nice of you, I could use the company anyway, Come in."
She said, inviting her friend inside and closing the door. Nightfury sat down on the floor and patted an open space next to him for Luna to join him. She gladly did and they began to talk about what was bothering her.
"Ok, so what's got you in a bad spot?"
"Well, I've just been feeling the guilt of my evil crusade a Nightmare Moon a long time ago. It's been debilitating trying to get over what I did all those years before."
Luna said with a frown, Nightfury understood why she was guilty of what she did, she was in a bad mental and emotional state back then when she fell victim to the jealousy and grief of being the younger and "Less popular" sister of the two rulers. But he had an idea that would have Luna feeling better in no time.
"Well, if that's the case, then I have just the thing to help you."
Fury said, prepping his plan
"Well, what do you have in min-."
Luna's train of thought was cut off upon seeing the funny face Nightfury had. He had his eyes crossed, moving his ears up and down as if they were wings, and had his tongue out, making funny noises.
"BLELauglELELellel!"
He babbled
"What are you doing?"
"Trying to make you laugh."
"Well, it isn't working"
Luna said with a deadpan face, Fury realized that it had no effect and frowned that he wasn't making a dent in Luna's problem.
"Darn, it isn't working. I need to step up my game if I want to help her."
Fury thought, wanting to help her friend, he then got another idea to help Luna with her problem.
"Well... There's more where that came from."
He said with more of a nervous tone, worrying that he may not have the stuff to make his best friend laugh. He decided to add some cuteness to the mix and see if that would work by transforming into a bunny and started to dance.
"Hey Luna, check this out!"
Fury said confidently as he started breakdancing, he pulled every move he could, spinning on his back, spinning on the tips of his big ears, and even holding cute poses between his moves. But yet, all he got out of Luna was a smirk.
"Well, that WAS cute, but I still feel sad."
Luna said still frowning, Fury stopped dancing and transformed back, his ears drooping as he felt bad that his friend still wasn't feeling better. He was about to give up when he remembered the one thing that always made Luna laugh. It seemed a bit drastic, but he was desperate to help his friend.
"Ok, I have one more trick that just might work."
He said, grabbing hold of Luna and pulling her in for what looked like a hug to Luna, but that wasn't Fury's plan. He started to tickle her dark blue wings and Luna started to giggle.
"hehehehe, what are you dohohohoing?"
Luna said still giggling
"Pulling the jack of all trades when it comes to making somepony laugh."
Fury said continuing the attack, Luna flopped on her back and Fury started tickling her belly, eliciting more laughter from the dark blue alicorn.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA NOHOHOHO PLEASE STOHOHOP!"
She yelped, thrashing around as the feline attacking her kept going.
"But why would I do such a thing, I'm trying to help you."
Fury said, spidering his paws up and down her from chest to her flanks.
"DAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Luna was crying laughing at this point, quickly running out of breath from laughing.
"FURYHEHEHEHEHE I CAN'T BREHEHEHEHEATH!"
Luna called, trying to make him stop, but he was determined to keep going, until one word came out of Luna's mouth.
"Blueberry!"
Luna screeched with the little amount of air and concentration she had, Nightfury immediately stopped as the safeword that they made for each other reached his ears. He removed his paws from her body and looked at her to check on her.
"Are you ok, did I go too far?"
Fury said as Luna collected herself, wiping the tears from her eyes.
"No, I'm fine, I just needed to get some air in after that."
Luna giggled
"Well, I'm glad you're ok. Are you feeling better?"
Fury asked
"Oh I'm feeling so much better, and as a matter of fact, I see why I didn't try to overpower the Nightmare in the first place."
"And why is that?"
Fury asked curiously
"I got to get revenge on anypony who dared get in my way, AND I got to gobble them up as a result."
Luna said with a cheeky grin creeping across her face, Fury looked confused for a second until he got what she was getting at with that cheeky grin.
"No nonononono don't!"
He said trying to get away
"Oh no you don't, get back here"
Luna said, grabbing hold of his tail and pulling him towards her, she then proceeded to playfully growl as she "gobbled" Nightfury up.
"Grrrrraur!"
"Noooooo, I'm getting gobbled uhuhuhup!"
Fury giggled as Luna proceeded to blow a raspberry into his belly
"NONONOHAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH, WHY MEHEHEHEH! OH THE CRUELTYEHEHEHEHE!"
Thinking she had her fun, Luna stopped her revenge and let Nightfury go, letting the giggling feline collect himself.
"You... are one evil mare, I can see why you were called NIGHTMARE moon, because you're a nightmare to deal with."
Fury said as Luna nuzzled him
"Well, I have my ways."
Luna chuckled
"You were growling like me, so I wouldn't put it behind me even if I tried."
Fury said with a smile, the two both giggled for a moment as they both enjoyed the silliness that occurred. Silence soon filled the room for a moment until a familiar noise broke it…
*Grrrrrrrowlll*
…Luna's ears perked up and she looked over to the now blushing feline with a cheeky smile
"Sounds like something else is growling at you"
Luna said with a chuckle, poking at Nightfury's tummy
"hehe yeah, I guess all that silliness made me hungry."
Fury said with an embarrassed smile, his cheeks burning bright red. Luna smiled at how they were getting along and opened her door with her magic.
"Well, let's go get something to eat. I'm starting to feel a little peckish myself."
Luna said patting her stomach as she stood at the door to her room
"Sounds good, I'm in."
Fury said as he walked out to the hall and the door closed behind him
"But, there is one more thing."
"What's that"
Luna asked
"Race Ya!"
Fury said, taking off like a missile down the hall
"Hey, no fair!"
Luna said, chasing after him towards the dining hall.
