The Party Doesn't Stop
The alarm clock wakes me up telling me that 7:30 has rolled around and it's time to get out of bed. I never did trust that thing to know when it was time to stop sleeping so I hit the snooze button, or the off button; I don't know which is which, but either will make it stop for a while. It's quiet in my room again.
I can hear my roommate, Octavia, busy doing things downstairs; I don't know how she does it. I come home almost every night as loudly as I can for the sole purpose of messing with her, but she manages to get good sleep, and is up at the same time every day. I always apologize about it the morning and proceed to make it up to her by buying breakfast or something.
The alarm woke me up, I know better than to think I'm getting any more sleep; that doesn't mean I have to get out of bed, but I do anyways. Slowly I make my way over to my vanity stand and look myself over. My mane is set at weird angles; a result of the sweat from last night's rave. My coat is in similar condition. I blink rapidly several times when I see the azure orbs staring back at me; after so many years I sometimes don't recognize my own eyes, but they are mine. The pictures stuck around the edges of the mirror would argue differently. Pictures from last year said "red." Pictures all the way from my fourteenth birthday, where I was my own dj, say the same thing. I don't care that I go out every night wearing a lie; it's a small lie, and nobody questions it. I go over the items on my stand one by one in my head checking to make sure I'm all set for tonight. I stop midway through because my goggles are on the table, but not the list. I levitate them up and hang them off my horn with a smirk. I'd even go to sleep with them, but my roommate thinks they'll choke me somehow; so I take them off at night just for her. Next on the list is the syringe, which is exactly where I left it yesterday. The sight of it used to make me a little anxious, but I'm almost bored by it now. It's so routine now, like brushing my teeth; I just do it before I leave for the night.
I use drugs, one drug actually, and I have for many years. It's only before I go out to perform, but since I'm booked for shows back to back most of the year, that's every night. It's been so long since I started, I don't even remember what it does. What I do remember about it is that the use won't show for another ten years or so. It makes me sweat, I do remember that. I don't party hard enough to justify how much I sweat, it makes me feel hot all over, but I'm not. I still break out in a cold sweat every night, but it doesn't bother me.
A knock on my door hurls me out of my reverie.
"Are you home? I didn't hear you come in last night." It's my roommate, and I must've been pretty quiet if she didn't hear me at all.
I laugh, once, to let her know I'm awake.
"Breakfast?" She asks.
"Pass." I say turning back to the mirror once more. "My eyes are blue." I assert to myself, I almost smile at the thought.
"What's for breakfast?" I call after my roommate; I could smell, she'd already started it.

I think breakfast was Octavia's way of thanking me for being quiet last night. I was just glad I didn't have to do anything before getting ready for the rest of the day; it was 10 A.M. now, I was slow but the day was going by fast.
I picked up the pace to ensure time for set up before the show tonight. It was the second local gig in a row, keeping me in Ponyville. It was funny to think that almost none of the ponies one might see during the day were at my shows. There was an entire other population in this town, and it liked to party. I bring out the nightlife here, which I believe makes me the Ponyville party queen. I command them to go wild, the music is my voice; they obey without question.
Suddenly I realize I've been staring into the mirror for Celestia knows how long. I don't think I'm an egomaniac, but it feels nice to know at least a few ponies care what I have to say. My black hairbrush is caught in my mane, I've already been through the shower; the taste of mint tells me my teeth have been brushed. The morning is slipping away from me and I don't mind that one bit.
My morning routine needs only the finishing touches and I can head out for the day. The top most drawer opens and out floats a tiny black, plastic container; it's like a milk jug without a handle. The syringe pokes through the foil covering the top and draws out a translucent viscous substance with a slight pink tint. Getting this far into the act used to make my heart beat faster; now it makes me slightly impatient that it takes so long to do it right. I lift my mane and push the needle into my neck, it slides in with ease; the pain is nonexistent anymore, making the injection all the less memorable. I watch in the mirror as my irises turn a dark purple before slowly brightening. At first my body feels heavy as the drug moves through my body, but soon enough I'm grinning like I always do. My party face is on and I'm ready to go; my goggles slide down my face and hide a secret many forget they know of. With the goggles I am merely what causes them to dance, without them I am a pony they all know.
The container, now empty, joins the other used ones in the second draw down, it's almost full. I've been at this for years, and used a few hundred of these; I'll have to empty it eventually, but for now I treat it as a shrine to every party I've been to. I may someday actually turn them into an art project.
As I head out the door and retrieve my equipment from the shed, all these thoughts leave my mind, the party begins soon.

The venue was just outside of Ponyville; once I arrived the set up was easy. Years of routine work had led up to this day, and it was safe to say things hadn't changed one bit.
I must've fallen asleep at some point because I don't remember connecting my mixing table to my subwoofers; nor do I remember taking off my goggles so I could see the underside of the table. I certainly didn't remember dunking my head in a bucket of ice water. Yet it was all done as I went around to check. I'd set up everything I needed for the night, and had somehow acquired both ice water and a bucket. I walked over to retrieve my goggles that lay discarded by the bucket. I caught my reflection in the water broken up, as it was, by the floating ice cubes.
Red. That was the only thing I noticed about myself; maybe the only thing other ponies noticed too.
Goggles back on, bucket of water behind my station, I waited for the party to show up. It already had.
Í took my goggles up to look out over the small gathering of ponies. I didn't know how long they'd been there or if I'd talked to any of them yet. Only once I sat behind my mixing table was I even aware of their existence.
I pull my goggles back down once more, they go a long way in hiding my surprise from the world, but my jaw hanging open would be a dead giveaway.
They've set up snack tables and thrown down blankets and cushions around what I have to assume is the designated dance area. It's pretty big; they must be expecting a huge turnout. I couldn't remember who'd asked me to do this; it's been set up months in advance. Whoever they were, they'd had enough bits to buy out somepony else's time slot. The ponies that were here already didn't look like they would know a pony like that. These were the ponies that you didn't see during the day, not because they had a day job, but because they had nothing to do with their lives. First to the party and last to leave, because they had nowhere else to be. They were fun to watch.
More ponies arrive. Some pass by my station and I wave; the most they do is nod in my direction. I don't think they know there's a pony here. At sunset they will, they all will.
Another hour and a half passes and the sun is nearing the horizon. I discovered in that time that, much to my surprise, the ice cubes in the bucket were not frozen water. Somepony had gone to the trouble of freezing alcohol and then proceeded to dump the ice into a bucket of water so I could cool my face. I'd drunk alcohol before, but I was against it whenever I was the dj at a party; that being the case at every party in the past decade I hadn't had a drink in a while. I needed to stay sober to protect my equipment.
Ponies were arriving in groups of two or three now. Enough food was brought to the point that the four long tables were completely covered by snacks.
I was going to start the show in a few minutes, then everypony would know I was here. At five o'clock it was dark enough to begin. My horn lit up, beneath the notice of everypony; the loud, low pulse that followed caught the attention of all.
Bright, multicolored lights came to life around me some focused on the dancing area some fell on me.
Alright everypony, take a seat..." I yelled, grinning widely. The crowd went silent and I got a few strange looks. "And throw it away, you aren't gunna have time to sit down tonight!"
Immediately after I finished speaking I hit a button and my records started spinning. The lights went out for a half a second and came back as a few dozen pulsing laser beams. I started with a steady beat to get the ponies moving, and they did just the way I wanted them to. Cheers and shouts went up as ponies rushed to the dance area. Some of the more riled up ponies bumped into each other, which only further increased their excitement. Luckily they knew better than to start a mosh pit on the first song. With this crowd, things were probably going to get semi violent later on.
I set out the request list like I usually did. It was of course mostly for display; nopony ever made requests. They all trusted me to take care of their musical needs. The only thing on it was The Pony Pokey three times from three different shows. There was one pony who'd been to three of my performances and they were the sneakiest damn pony I'd never met. Of course I'd played the song all three times, it was a classic crowd pleaser.
Only a few minutes after putting out the request list the most amazingly pink pony I'd ever seen approached my stand. She picked up a pencil with her mouth and scrawled something down on the list; she then trotted away happily to join the dancing mass.
I was curious to say the least, but I maintained a look of slight disinterest as I levitated the clipboard up to see what she'd written. I stopped once I realized I was doing it on purpose, and scanned down the list to satisfy my genuine interest. The Pony Pokey for the forth time in a row. How I'd missed that pink mare, with her poofy mane, was beyond me, but I'd found her at last. I knew who to look for now and tried to follow her in the crowd as I queued up her request. More than once I lost track of her, and when I spotted her again she always seemed to be on the opposite side of the crowd. She'd stop for a moment to chat up a group and always get a few laughs before she was off to yet another group. Every single pony she talked to had a smile when she left, she brought an energy to the party that I'd never seen before. As The Pony Pokey started my hooves began to move of their own accord, carrying me to the dance floor. I cast a simple illusion of myself to make everything look normal, just being next to my equipment was usually more than enough to keep others from messing with it. I pushed through the crowd for a while before being reminded that I'm not the biggest pony in the world; I am in fact smaller than some. My size coupled with the fact that this crowd wasn't in the mood to be looking out for others, halted my progress rather quickly. I no longer had the advantage of being slightly elevated behind my station, so I couldn't follow the pink mare's movements throughout the crowd; this'd been a bad idea, but I wasn't going to make it back. Ponies began to get into circular groups as they caught on to the fact that The Pony Pokey was playing. With nowhere else go to I joined a group and participated, however awkwardly, in the classic dance.
The final "... That's what it's all about!" Went up, and the crowd cheered. Some ponies went to get refreshments thinning out the packed dance floor; among those by the snack tables was the pink mare I'd set out to find. Nothing got in my way as I made a b-line straight to her, sometimes ducking under taller ponies who I may or may not have accidentally poked with my horn; I didn't stop to apologize because I wasn't sure any poking actually occurred. I was, however, sure that I needed to talk to her.
A few ponies away, the pink mare's left ear twitched and she turned in place twice; following that she looked right at me, smiled and wave. before I was near enough to say anything she'd popped to cherry topped cupcakes into her mouth.
"Hiya!"She chirped before I had the chance to speak.
"You knew I was coming?" I asked with a raspy voice. It occurred to me that I rarely talked at parties, my mouth was dry like a desert; I wasn't entirely convinced it was related to how little I'd drank so far.
"Yep! My Pinkie senes told me somepony reeeealy needed to talk to me."
I had been about to confess it was probably me, but she went on.
"There's a difference between a need and a want and you needed me for something so it must be important."
"Yeah, well-" I tried to speak again, what was I thinking?
"Oh my gosh I never introduced myself to you, that's what it is isn't it?"
I nodded dumbly, but that wasn't it, or maybe it was; I couldn't tell. The fact that I was standing closer to her made me feel like I was at least on the right path.
"My name is Pinkie Pie, what's yours?"
"Vnyl Scrtch." I'd forgotten to open my mouth, I was forgetting how to talk!
"Oh yeah you're the dj!" Pinkie said excitedly, hopping in place twice.
"Yeah..." No point in denying that.
"You're so cool, not as cool as Rainbow Dash, then again who is- You're still cool! Thank for playing the Pony Pokey."
I gave her a nod and a smile, then- I smiled? It wasn't my mostly-content grin, but an honest to goodness smile. I couldn't remember the last time I smiled. It was Pinkie Pie's fault obviously, that smile of hers was an infectious disease; probably the best one to catch too.
It had taken me till now, but I finally understood what was going on when, while she kept talking, I simply watched her lips moving and tuned out all else. I had a schoolfilly crush on her.
To my rational mind this was stupid and slightly pathetic, but being near her actually affected me in a tangible way. I was embarrassed and nervous; face hot, mouth dry and beads of sweat forming on my brow. I found it odd that it was taking me so long to sweat properly given what the drug usually did to me, but it was clear my rational mind wouldn't be winning any battles tonight. I wanted this pink mare; or maybe she was right, and I actually needed her.
I thought about how well she moved through the party, greeting everypony with a smile and something to make them laugh.
I continued to watch those pink lips for a while before I realized I was leaning in closer; I'd also been asked a question.
"Huh?" I maned to mumbled, refocusing on the conversation.
"You're turning really red, are you feeling alright?"
I was turning red? Was I feeling alright? The first I could only take her word for, but no I wasn't feeling "alright." My stomach was tying itself into nervous knots the longer I stayed near her.
"Uhhh..." I did my best to put into words how I felt, that was as close as I got.
"Was it something I said?" It wasn't something she said, it was everything she said; everything she did that had every inch of my body working in opposite directions.
"I'm alright." I lied, breathlessly; why I was out of breath I didn't know, what I did know was that I leaned in closer as I spoke. My eyes closed, lips puckered, and what ever she was about to say was replaced by a squeak as I pressed my lips against hers. She didn't kiss me back, she also didn't pull away. I ran my tongue over her lips to get a taste; she tasted like sugary sweets with a hint of something sour; I couldn't exactly place the sour taste, but I had to guess the pastries she'd been devouring was what left her lips so perfectly sweet. I found myself desperately wishing she'd open her mouth so I could get a better taste; while ignoring the fact that I was effectively mouth raping her as it was.
The sound of cheers and whistles reminded me of where I was, and forced me to take a second look at what I was really doing. It didn't feel like me, didn't feel like I could possibly be doing this, but it was and I was. A few stallions caught on to the two mares kissing and'd proceeded to notify half the party. I'd just messed up bad.
I pulled away to look over the damage I'd just done. Pinkie Pie worked her oh so delicious lips soundlessly and looked at me in disbelief.
"Wow." She said at length, I think she did; I was half way back to my mixing station before she said anything.
Ducking behind my station I dispelled my illusory double, it was getting to the point that at least a few of the more attention ponies would've caught on. I switched the track from classic party music to a more modern beat that matched the rabbiting of my own heart; I didn't feel like being the only pony whose heart was about to explode.
More cheers went up at the welcome change in music; I'd forgotten my job in favor of forcing myself on some mare I didn't know. The whole experience left me feeling wound up in the worst way I possibly could be in public, and it was all for nothing. My solution to this rising problem involved a bucket of frigid water.
I went in for one more refreshing head dunk in what was no just water; when I came back up I was acutely aware of another pony standing in my work area. Thinking maybe a drunk pony'd wandered up behind me I turned to quickly tell them off before any wrong ideas were had.
Pinkie Pie found my hiding place. Of course she did; where else would a dj go? I reflexively jumped backwards and fell into the bucket like I'd been planning to anyways; albeit in a much wetter and more uncomfortable way. She was smiling at me; not her exuberant "hello everypony let's be friends" smiles, but a softer, kind smile.
"I'm sorry." I mumbled, looking down in shame. The water revealed to me that my face was turning red again. I had no idea until now what I looked like when I was blushing, I look stupid.
"You coulda warned me." Pinkie said, followed by something like a sneeze.
"I don't know what came over me." I began, "One second I was just- Just something." I had zero explanations for myself and certainly couldn't have been expected to give her one either.
"Are you done with the bucket of shame?" She asked, giving a name to the position I was in; seemed appropriate. Once again when she finished speaking a partially covered sneeze followed. A snicker.
I raised my gaze just enough to see her face without making eye contact completely forgetting for the moment that I was wearing my goggles. She had a wide, goofy smile plastered across her muzzle; one foreleg trying to hide her smile the other around her shaking chest. She was laughing at me as I sat in my bucket of shame.
"Aren't you mad at me? I just tried to kiss you in front of a bunch of ponies and I don't even know you!" I said rather loudly, it wasn't above the music though. Unless I'd left the mic on, of course.
"Naw, you aren't the first pony to try something like that a party; you're probably the cutest in a long time though." Pinkie giggled lightly.
"But I-" I stuttered.
"It wasn't really a kiss though, it felt more like you were trying to eat my face."
"I haven't had much practice lately." I accidentally confessed with a long sigh. It took me a moment to realize what I'd just let slip.
I facehoofed while she rolled on her back laughing. Sad as it seemed to me, it was sad in a strangely funny way so I couldn't really blame her for laughing; what caught me off guard is that I cracked a smile and started laughing with her.
"You're pretty funny, but I wasn't actually complaining." She said, coming down from her laughing fit.
"Why didn't you kiss me back?" I thought it was a legitimate question; it just made her giggle more, which I loved.
Ï was super surprised; like so surprised that I forgot how to talk for a bit. Twilight is always saying there's nothing in Equestria that could get me to stop talking; Rainbow Dash, and my other friends think so too, but don't say it as much; although I don't know what Fluttershy thinks...
"Had I known her better I would've known to cut her off before the halfway point of her story. Instead I listened to her talk about all her friends while trying to air dry my rear, and occasionally changing tracks. The sounds of partying were put in the background of our mostly one sided conversation, eventually becoming a dull hum compared to everything Pinkie Pie said.
After concluding her story about the time her quietest friend made a dragon relocate to another cave with just her words, she fell silent. As it turned out, you didn't mess with any of her friends; friends I also learned were the elements of harmony.
"I got off topic, huh?"She asked cocking her head cutely to one side in thought.
"No biggie," I said, walking past her to take over my turn tables properly. "Sounds like you have some pretty awesome friends though; it wasn't like we really had a topic to begin with."
"They sure are!" She chirped, swishing a hoof in the bucket of shame.
"Thanks Pinkie."
"You're welcome." She said around the wet hoof in her mouth, "What'd I do?"
"You reminded me of the other side of a party; I'd sort of forgotten there were ponies out there." As many times as I told myself that I controlled them and made them dance, it was true that they were actually ponies; each with a different story, but with a common desire to come and dance. It was because of her that I was smiling again; like I hadn't in a long time. My heart hadn't slowed since I'd kissed her, and that was fine; I felt alive and happy. I found the motivation to put on a show, a performance that nopony here would forget; she was to blame for my renewed desire to make other ponies happy with my music.
"Alright everypony!" Killing the music, I shouted forgoing the mic in favor of magical amplification. "This is your only warning: We're going to crank this party up a couple notches, so if you aren't ready to party till you drop you should leave now!"
Blank stares.
"You know I'm just kidd-" Pinkie Pie put her hooves on the sides of my face and pulled me into a kiss, with every single pony at the party watching.
The audience started chanting, "Go, go, go..."
She had me cornered more or less, and with the crowd cheering our kiss on I wasn't about to back down. Her tongue passed over my lips once, twice, just as I'd done; on the third pass I opened my mouth and launched a tongue based counter attack, that quickly put both our tongues in her mouth. She giggled in surprised, but was soon moaning her approval; I joined her as I got the stronger taste of her sweetness that I'd so craved earlier. Her lips had been sweet enough to kill a diabetic, but the inside of her mouth was like the most perfect birthday cake.
We continued to make out unabashed, while dozens of ponies watched. It felt as though countless years passed as I explored every inch of her mouth; I refused to pull away until my tongue's journey was complete. Hooves started drifting downwards pressing into cutie marks stroking bellies and nothing more. As much desire there was between us, there was a definite limit cheering would push us to. It was something we both silently understood.
Eventually Pinkie Pie started patting my shoulder and mumbling "Nncl! Nncl!" Into my mouth.
I pulled away and wiped the spittle off my chin, "What was that?" I asked, already having a good idea of what she'd tried to say.
"Uncle." She said breathlessly.
"Mind saying that again?" I asked with a grin, bringing the mic closer to her.
"She wins!" Pinkie cheered, throwing her hooves into the air.
That's right, I won; I out lasted the most long winded pony I'd ever met. It was a victory, however perverted it might be; I was still proud of myself.
"Isn't she something?" I asked the crowd, with a light chuckle. My heart was still racing and beads of sweat had formed on my brow; but it felt natural and I had a reason for both. I was going to make the rest of this night special if it was the last thing I did.
I went for my fog machines extra speakers everything I usually didn't unpack. Up until today I didn't expect ponies to even appreciate the effort I went to setting up all the extras. Now I was more than happy to do it, for my self as much as for the ponies who'd gathered to dance.
Pinkie Pie now stood side by side with me eyeing each knob, dial and switch on my mixing board with the intense curiosity of a foal.
"As I was saying, before I was so wonderfully interrupted; we're going to close tonight with a few original mixes." I cut the current track and the lights, a dead silence poured over the audience. I could hear confused whispers as I adjusted everything and hooked up the additional equipment by light of my horn. A few unicorns followed my example, causing ponies near them to gather closer in order to see.
"Whatcha doin'?" Pinkie Pie whispered loudly into my ear.
"Putting on a show, a real show." I said matching her stage whisper.
When I'd finished I looked up at her; that warm smile she beamed at me must've had a light of its own since I could see it so perfectly in the dark. She failed to mention she was also best friends with Ponyville's orthodontist.
"Press that button if you want to get this party started right." I said, bumping flanks with her as I illuminated my favorite, if underused Big Red Button
I'd never seen a pony look so excited, given that I'd been to well over 100 parties full of excited ponies in my life, that was saying something.
"Three, two, one." Turning on the mic I counted down for both our benefits as well as for the crowd.
One press of a button two mechanical clicks and a series of low pops later the air turned light purple. The fog machines filled the air around the party with an opaque cloud with bright colorful lights shining through them. The world began to strobe alll sorts of neon colors and a prerecorded voice said, "Let's burn it down!" The voice caused the air to vibrate with every syllable and the crowd began to give up shouts of excitement, slowly growing in volume along with a steady beat fading in.
A steady beat and spinning records, I started to fall into my old self; smiling and enjoying the party for what it was. It was fun, it was about the music and dancing and whatever anyone brought with them; it wasn't about me and the control I had over others. Pinkie started dancing next to my equipment forcing me to split my attention between my mixing and keeping myself in between her and my livelihood; in the end I was simply dancing with her while managing to keep the music alive and changing.
Were I to look at this moment from any other point in my life I could only say that I had fun, and there wasn't a single thing wrong with fun.
I opened the door allowing my bubbly pink guest to in first. She made it a few steps inside before I was on her back, quickly knocking her down and pinning her underneath me. She let out a delighted squeal as I started planting kisses all over her face.
We'd made out in front of a large crowd; easily the wildest thing I'd done in years. At that time we'd had to restrain ourselves to kissing and nothing more. Now that we were alone I didn't have to pretend my nethers weren't aching to be touched I was currently straddling. By the way her pink body wiggled and squirmed I could tell she was as ready to move on as I was. I reached back and drew a hoof down her body while simultaneously rocking my hips back and forth on her chest. I began to moan as the heated swelling started up in my nethers; when my hoof started down her inner thigh she let out a moan of her own to match mine perfectly. The instant I touched the top of her slit a loud yelp followed by a series of barely stifled, elated giggles escaped; I'm almost sure some of them were mine.
Quick hoofsteps from the floor above reminded me that I had a roommate. Before I could tell Pinkie to keep it down, Octavia appeared at the doorway to the living room. Even in the dark it was clear I had another pony under me.
Entering the room, Octavia looked worried; perhaps the high pitched squealing made her think I'd been hurt. When she saw me with a goofy smile, rubbing myself against another mare with an equally goofy smile her concern gave way to shock, embarrassment, and a little of something else; was it jealousy?
Whatever it had been was gone just as quickly as she was, before I could get out my half serious invitation to join us. I figured since she was up anyways she might as well, but she heard none of it. Rarely had I seen a pony move so fast.
Pinkie Pie was all for getting Octavia and formally inviting her to join us, but it was a bad idea and I told her so. She dropped the subject pretty quickly, instead initiating a long passionate kiss.
"Maybe we should head to my room." It was a suggestion, but I was already heading to the stairs. It was more for Octavia's sake than anything else; it was a struggle to pull myself off of her hot body, but my room was soundproofed. It'd been one of the first things I'd done when we'd bought the house. The only way you would hear noise from my room was if you were standing directly in front of the door, and it would be faint even then.
"Okey dokey." She said in a sing song voice as she rolled over and bounced past me into the kitchen. I knew she'd figure it out eventually so I just made for the stairs. She suddenly powered up the stairs ahead of me after a few clattering noises from the kitchen; she had an amazing looking sandwich balanced on her head. I was so going to eat half of that. I chased up the stairs after her and got a mouthful of sandwich before I could react.
Pinkie sat in the hall by my door enjoying the other half of the sandwich. She pointed at the door and raised an eyebrow, I nodded and she went in. Tonight I've met a mare who can turn bread and vegetables into a weapon, and I let her into my house; it really was a great night.
"Thanks for the sandwich." I said coming into my room. I froze when I spotted her next to my vanity, one hoof rolling my syringe around the other seeing how deep the drawer full of emptied containers went. I saw her face darken visibly when she touched the bottom.
I wanted to be a lot of things at that moment. I wanted to be mad at her for going through my things, but I could only shrink back from the concern in her eyes. She unburied her hoof and took a few steps for me; at that I wanted to also be invisible, or otherwise anywhere else in the universe. As excited as I'd been only moments ago, I only felt shame at having been found out for something that hadn't bothered me in years; it was as if I'd taken away her faith in me by not warning her. Maybe I had.
