Love in Bridlewood
Getting to Know One Another
Previous ChapterNext ChapterOnce Izzy had gave me a friendship bracelet, considered us besties and then had me join her on her loveseat so we could get to know one another, I was feeling a bit light headed but in a good way. Izzy, on the same day we met, was already considering me her bestie. I couldn't help but wonder how such a beautiful mare, one with such a positive personality, could already think of me in that way. I knew for sure that I was definitely growing fond of her. Was she perhaps growing fond of me too?
Once we got sat down, we were pressed close together but I wasn't about to complain about that, especially once Izzy put her arm around me to provide herself with more room. When she did that, I got a case of the shivers which was something that she noticed. "What's wrong Stormchaser? Why'd you get a case of the shivers?" Izzy asked.
I had a slight blush on my face, "Well it is just that nopony has ever put their arm around me like that before" my blush deepened as I continued, "and it feels good."
Izzy gave me a smile, "Well besties are close like that." She paused momentarily before asking, "How about you tell me a bit about yourself."
I wasn't sure exactly how to go about this. I had a feeling that if I was to tell Izzy my full story that she'd think I was nuts because what pony is actually going to believe a story like mine? Yes Izzy reminded me of the type that would be more likely to believe something that others may view as outlandish but still, mine is something that nopony would ever expect.
I asked, "Izzy, I'm going to share something about myself but do you promise you won't laugh because it is something that nopony would ever expect." Izzy nodded, "Well I'm not originally from Equestria, I originally came from the world of humans. I won a contest to come to Equestria......"
Izzy became excited, "Really, you won a trip here?" She then gave me a tight embrace before continuing, "You aren't the first one I've met! There was this one mare a while back who came here." She then became a bit sad, "She was really nice and I gave her a friendship bracelet but then she said she was going back to her world."
I felt a bit bad for Izzy because it was obvious that she befriended ponies rather quickly and I could tell that friend departing saddened her. With the way my life was on earth, I had no plans on going back and I was going to let her know that.
"Izzy, I'm sorry your friend did that but I have no such plans. If I can, I'd love to be able to move here to Bridlewood since I'm a unicorn and well" I blushed again, "because we are besties."
Those beautiful magenta eyes of hers grew wide and her smile grew huge, "Really, you want to move to Bridlewood" she then put a lot of emphasis on "because of me?"
I replied, "Well yeah, you are really nice....."
She again embraced me and exclaimed, "Wow, you're staying for me! I'm soooo happy!"
I tightened the embrace before continuing, "Now to tell you more about me." She grabbed my hand which caused me to blush again before continuing, "Well in my world I grew up in a decent house. My family did care for one another but it wasn't that long ago that I lost my mom. My dad and I do get along but he is much closer with my sister."
Izzy gave me a sympathetic look, "I'm sorry about you losing your mom, that had to be hard."
"It was Izzy, it was. The day I had to bury her was the hardest day of my life. Luckily I did have friends there to help me get through it. Enough of this negative talk though, now more about me so you'll know me better."
"So, what did you do for a living?" she asked.
I replied, "Well I worked as a personal banker so I was never hurting for money and I always took my vacation in the spring because I would go storm chasing during tornado season."
Izzy asked, "What is storm chasing?"
I replied, "I along with a few other people would have scientific equipment with us and we'd try to get devices in place to where they'd get sucked up into tornadoes and provide us with all sorts of data so we'd know more about the severe weather threats."
She asked, "I have a question, what are tornadoes?"
I replied, "A tornado is a violently rotating column of air that is in contact with both the surface of the Earth and a cumulonimbus cloud. Sometimes the winds are so strong that they'll destroy people's homes and lead to fatalities."
Izzy looked a bit shocked over my statement, "Wow, just wow! You must be realllly brave!"
I replied, "I am. Between working at a bank and the storm chasing I was kept occupied but I always thought life could be better. That is why when I went to that pony convention and I bought so many raffle tickets when I learned the grand prize was a trip to Equestria. I figured that maybe I could start fresh here in Equestria and now I have that chance, hopefully in Bridlewood."
She again embraced me and exclaimed, "Well I'm sure you can! I will tooootally help you start over!"
I gave her a smile, "Bridlewood doesn't happen to have any banks does it?" She nodded as I continued, "Given that I worked in a bank back in my world, I'm kind of hoping I could work at one here assuming there is one."
She gave me a big smile, "Of course there's a bank here silly and I'm betting you could get a job there with no problems."
This did make me happy naturally but there was one problem, where would I live. I didn't know if Bridlewood even had apartments and I would need somewhere to live given I had decided to not go back to my world and live among the unicorns. I asked, "That's great Izzy but where am I going to live?"
Izzy gave me another embrace, "Well you can live with me! We are besties after all."
I wasn't sure exactly how big her place was but at least from what I remember, the tree she lived in was good sized but I wasn't sure if it was large enough for her to have a guest room. I asked, "So do you have a guest room or will I be sleeping on the floor or what?"
Izzy gave me what looked like a seductive smile, "Oh don't worry about that, my bed is big enough for both of us!"
I wasn't entirely sure what to make of the situation. I was happy that she wasn't going to make me sleep on the floor but still, we had just met earlier that day. Certainly she wasn't being serious about us sharing the same bed, was she? This was something I needed to find out, "Izzy, certainly you're not being serious here. The two of us just met today and while I've shared my past with you, I don't know anything about you."
Izzy gave me a smile, "I truly mean it when I say that but if you want me to share my past with you, I will."
I replied, "I would love to hear about your past, after all besties share everything, right?"
Izzy nodded and began, "Well my early foalhood was ok but when I was probably three, my parents started going out of town on these long trips. They would always leave me with Alphabittle, a family friend." She became more glum as she continued, "I remember one time hearing them talking about going to some forest off to the south and that if they didn't return, they asked him if he'd raise me and he said he would."
She had tears running down her face at this point so I embraced her and asked, "And I take it they never returned?"
She began to cry loudly, "They didn't. I always wondered why they would run off like that! A filly should always have her parents there for her, always! Why did they have to do that, why? Why weren't they there for me?"
I tightened my embrace and replied, "I really wish I knew Izzy. I'm sorry they did that to you and it must take a lot for you to have a sparkle shining so bright all the time despite what they did to you."
This caused Izzy to give me a look of shock. She asked, "Really, you say sparkle too?"
I replied, "Well most of the time your luminescence is shining so bright. I wasn't fully aware of what I was truly seeing until you brought up your parents and it went so dim and I can understand why."
Izzy suddenly became excited, "Wow, just wow! We both toootally have the same abilities and you're originally a human! I can't believe it, this is sooooo amazing!"
I gave her a smile, "It is pretty cool, isn't it?"
Izzy let out a yawn, "It is but I'm getting tired."
I too let out a yawn, "As am I. I could really use some shut eye."
Izzy suggested, "How about we get some sleep." She grabbed my hand and began to lead me towards her bedroom. She saw the uncertain look on my face and giggled, "C'mon Stormchaser, just because we're sharing the same bed doesn't mean we're gonna do anything friends shouldn't! You're just like the mare I let stay with me!"
I replied, "Alright, I know nothing is going to happen."
She then turned off the light and the two of us crawled into bed. Her bed was indeed big enough for the two of us to lay there and have plenty of room. I never once imagined that this is how I would finish my day when I came into Bridlewood. I never once imagined that the happy-go-lucky unicorn I met when I first came into town was not only willing to let me live with her but also probably help me get a job. I did know one thing though, no way was I ever going to return to my world. I was staying in Bridlewood and with Izzy being my bestie, I knew things would be just fine.
Right before we fell asleep I said, "Good night Izzy, sleep tight."
She replied, "Goodnight Stormchaser, sweet dreams."
Whenever my parents would say "sweet dreams" to me when I was growing up, it irked me. Even at an early age I knew we didn't control our dreams and that made it sound like you could control them. Here in Equestria, next to Izzy, it seemed so different and I wondered why. I thought to myself, "Is it because I've fallen for Izzy? Is it because she has captured my heart." Then immediately before I fell asleep I mouthed, "She has, in this short amount of time, I've fallen in love with her."
