I woke up to the sun rising and to the chorus of birds outside. I slowly got up and walked to the window to see the mountains and ponyville in the distance. To those ponies, I never existed. Their savior during the time of madness. Their tyrant, Princess Celestia making me invisible to the world. My long black and green mane lightly touching the floor, a slight aura emanating from my mane and tail as i remembered the past. I heard the sound of hoofsteps as i walked to the entrance hall, Celestia pacing back and forth as a group of six ponies burst through the door. "We came as fast as we could." . said Twilight Sparkle. I identified the others as Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Applejack, Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie

"Good, we must go now. Follow me." Celestia said as the other ponies followed her. I walked with them and we entered the war room, filled with maps of equestria and the gryphon kingdom. "The gryphons have infiltrated and destroyed one of our bases. We need the Elements of Harmony and the friendship arsenal if we are to defeat them."

Twilight glanced a worried look at the others. "But princess...the elements are only used for peace, not war. And we have never...killed anypony before."

Celestia stared Twilight in the eyes, boiling with rage. "You my dear, are committing treason for disobeying your monarch." I sighed. I may have taken her insanity, but her heart remained black and crimson, for it was stained with the blood of her foes.

"Of course not, i would never disobey you, your highness." She bowed as the others did the same. She glanced at me, expecting me to bow, but i merely stood there and stared back.

"Rise. You are dismissed. I need time to think." The others did as they were told and walked out of the room. I proceeded to follow, but celestia stopped me "You aren't going anywhere demon. I may not be able to kill you but i can sure as Tartarus cause you pain." My eyes began to glow faintly, daring her to try. She scoffed and walked out of the room.

I slowly began to walk to Luna’s quarters, the mare in deep thought as I walked in. "Oh Shadowheart! I hadn't realized you had entered!"

Luna was much kinder than her older sister, us both being creatures of the night we had a lot in common. "You know I was wondering when I would see you again. I was worried Celestia had done something to you."

She nudged me and i smiled back, my pointed teeth reflecting the light from outside. "Do not worry Luna, she cannot harm me. She may have taken my magic but my combat skills will not wither."

Luna chuckled and sighed. "Even after all these years you haven’t changed." She walked to a couch in her room and I sat beside her.

"I've always wondered how you've fought on your back hooves, you know."

I chuckled and responded. "Luna you know i am not a pony, i am a demon born from darkness and insanity..."

Luna cut me off. "You also have kept my mind clear ever since that incident during the time of madness." A sorrowful look crossed her face as we remembered the past, how Celestia burned all the books about that time and made up a story on how it was always peaceful until Luna got jealous.

The real story was that one thousand years ago the kingdom was in chaos. Murder, rape, theft and necromancy filled the town and all were infected by insanity. I woke in the dark in the deepest part of the everfree forest as a filly. My mane and tail touched the ground where i stood, my senses going wild with the desire for the insanity that affected the people.

I traveled from town to town, absorbing the insanity from the people. My final destination was Canterlot. I looked up at the town and wondered how i would get there. I felt a sharp pain in my back as I collapsed and two large leathery wings protruded from my back. I spread them wide and easily flew up and landed on the edge. Everypony stared at me, for i was much larger than them. There wide eyes didn't affect me as i walked past. A unicorn stepped in front of me.

"Who are you? Wherever you came from stranger, this place is for upper class mares and gentlecolts, not some freak!" I looked into her eyes as I touched my horn to hers. My horn, eyes, mane and tail glowed as i absorbed the insanity she harbored. Everypony stared at me as i looked around.

"Tell me where the source of this insanity is." The ponies pointed to the castle and I spread my wings and took flight once more.

That is where i found poor Luna, having locked herself into her tower to stay away from her sister. "S-s-s-stay back!" I walked past her and through the entrance hall to the war room where the raving lunatic Celestia stood. "Control, control it all hehehehe all mine yes yes mine MINE HEHEHEHEHEHE!!!!"

She turned and stared at me and immediately lunged at me. I dodged and pinned her down. "NO NO MUST NOT LOSE MUST CONTROL ALL ALL MINE ALL MIIINNEE"

I then proceeded to absorb the darkness that clouded her mind. When i had finished, i got off her as she came to her senses "What happened..." she looked at me and angrily stood up. "YOU... WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE? DID YOU DO THIS? CAUSE THE COLLAPSE OF MY KINGDOM? ITS ALL YOUR FAULT!"

She galloped out of the room when i heard the screams of Luna. I teleported to her room to find that she had been infected by the insanity. I ran to her side to absorb the darkness in her mind, but was then knocked off of my hooves as celestia charged in. "Luna...Luna?"

She turned to me. "YOU DID THIS!" At that moment, Luna rose as a diffrent mare. She flew out of the tower, Celestia chasing her. They both landed in a castle in the everfree forest. I arrived in time to see that Celestia had used the Elements of Harmony to banish Luna to the moon, the castle slowly collapsing because of the surge of power inside it. I was too late to save Luna, but when i went to stop the elements, Celestia turned to me.

"Looks like you're next!" She used the elements on me, but I wasn't banished. Instead, I became invisible to the world. No one could hear me, see me, feel me, smell me or taste me. Only an alicorn, a strong wielder of magic or one with the gift of magic sight could know of my existence and it has continued on till this very day,

"Shadow...Hey Shadow what's wrong?" Luna nudged me a bit as I snapped out of my trance and turned to her.

"Sorry, I was thinking about the past." Luna smiled and leaned on my side.

"Don't think about that. It was a horrible time and its over now...i've been wondering...how did you ever get to that size?"

If i was compared to Celestia, i was a bit taller and much more muscular than she was. "You see Luna...in the first four days of my birth, i grew depending on how much insanity i absorbed.Because of all the people infected i grew quite quickly." Luna smiled, me and her had a special connection. For after the time of madness, I had looked throught every book i could to bring her back.

After a while i found a powerful potion that could open a temporary portal to far away destinations, I brought her back to a place in the everfree forest where she would be away form Celestia's prying eyes.

When she woke, i realized she was still infected as she flew off to forever make it night. I followed her and arrived after the six used the elements to remove Luna’s power and her begging at her sister’s hooves to not kill her. Celestia accepted her apology as they returned to the castle where they've been living along with me.

My room was in the darkest part of the castle where nopony dared to go, excluding Luna. All the years we've been together has made her fall in love with me and now she treats me like a stallion, despite my form being that of a mare. But she didn't care. I don't care if shes a mare either, she was still special to me and we both shared a hatred of her sister.

"Oh shadow, I need to raise the moon...It was nice talking to you." We smiled to each other and she flew off into the night while I returned to my room to rest.
