Rainbow Foal

Rainbow awoke with a steady throbbing in her skull like somepony was bucking her in the side of the head repeatedly. Each pulse sent a wave of pain into her eyes which felt comparable to somepony squeezing them between bare hooves. Oh how I love mornings.

Even without opening her eyes, she knew something was off; she wasn't in her soft, warm, familiar  cloud bed, instead, all that cushioned her head was a wooden table. She opened her eyes and surveyed the area around her: Instead of the harsh sunlight she expected to be pouring though her window, blinding her, she saw the soft glow of some light fixtures, which were still too bright for her taste right now.

She sat at a bar, neck twisted in an uncomfortable manner as her head rested upon the surface of the table, arms hanging freely and unbalanced flank almost plastered onto a bar stool. Without warning,a flood of hazy memories came back from the night before: Getting tickets to the Wonderblots, meeting them after the show, getting invited to the after party, partying, flirting with. . . . The name and face escaped her. Frustrated at this, she concentrated harder. She remembered every time somepony left. . . all who were left were Spitfire, Soarin, and Rapid Fire. It couldn't have been Spitfire. . . unless I was really drunk. But that was some good cider. . .

"Hey Dash?" a sleepy voice called, interrupting her thoughts.

Rainbow instantly jumped at the sound of the similar voice, thinking she was the only one in the bar. "Huh?" Rainbow slurred, still in a daze from the events of last night. She painfully lifted her head up and turned it towards the source of the voice as she quickly wiped the drool from her face away. Spitfire.

"Where are we?" She asked trying to prop herself up from the uncomfortable position she was lying in on a nearby couch.

The rainbow mare replied with a deep mumble that even she couldn't understand very well.

"Huh?"

"Somewhere. . ."  Dash yawned, stretching her back and wings with a satisfying cracking noise.

"Ohh. . . I gotta get home. . ."

Spitfire stretched out her wings with a yawn and gave them a couple test flaps before starting to hover towards the door.

"See ya next race Dash." Spitfire put before leaving.

"Huh-wha?" Dash spun her head in the direction of the door only to see Spitfire departing thought the double doors. Next race. . . ? I'm invited to the next race?! The mare quickly sprang upwards at the idea of getting in free to the next race. And maybe another after party! Although she mentally would have to remind herself about her alcohol intake at the next party, she kind of wanted to remember it next time- "SHOOT! I have weather duty today!"

Rainbow, almost fully awake now due to the race invitation and the fact she was late for work, jolted out of the bar and started to zoom her way back to Ponyville.

"Hey Rainbow you don't look so good today." A wall eyed co-worker said to Rainbow.

Derpy was the pony she least expected to say that to her, considering she has a hard time observing certain things. If Derpy had noticed, then she probably really didn't look well. That's what I get for spending the night drinking cider and flying from Cloudsdale all the way to Ponyville But Rainbow wasn't about to admit defeat, even with the mother of all hangovers. "I'm fine." she lied.

The gray pegasus flew closer to Dash and squinted , "Your eyes are all red Rainbow Dash, did'ya get any sleep last night?" Rainbow turned her head away and pressed her hooves to her temples. "Uh. . . not really.".

Derpy's motherly instincts kicked in, "Rainbow Dash it's not safe to work when your tired, now you go home and get some rest, I'll cover your shift. Now go on."

To be honest Rainbow was surprised that Derpy could be this demanding of her but mentally thanked Celestia for this opportunity to go home and nap. "I. . Thanks Derps." she smiled and flew away as Derpy rearranged some clouds. " That Rainbow Dash and her parties." she whispered to herself with a content smile.
