Author's Note:

This little Sparity one-shot reads as a back-and forth between the pair. The four-line verses are divided into pairs for this reason, with the first verse in the set being spoken by Spike and the second verse spoken by Rarity. I hope it's not too confusing, and I may be changing the layout of it if I end up getting too dissatisfied with the way it looks.

It leaves the earth renewed once more, the soil bare and clean.

And though the velvet snow is gone,

Your perfect coat still gleams."

In dazzling displays of rainbow life, in every single hue.

Yet I would pass up every one,

To sit and be with you."

"Do you remember years long passed, in our younger days?

They seem so perfect, so far gone, lost in time's gold haze.

I still remember the first cool snows,

And how I was amazed."

The days we spent with friends we loved, the hours spent in song.

"I can see it now, the freedom then, of being young and well

I remember running round, with hope that never quelled

I remember wanting you,

Still too afraid to tell."

“Did you see it then, when we were free, young and strong and right

While you vied for my affections, with an ardor that equaled might

Would stay within my sight.”

“I was foolish and presumptuous back in those heady days

I had foolish notions, and headstrong crazy ways

I did not deserve you yet,

Yet still I craved your gaze.”

“I was arrogant and blinded, by youth and love back then

I was arrogant and careless, when it all began

Yet still I kept you penned.”

“I had raised you up so high on a pedestal

Nothing could dissuade me, you would never fall

The shadows got the best of me and tore the town apart

To see you warped and changed, without knowing the cause

Feeling worried sick for you,

“You brought me home from greed that had blotted out the world

I couldn’t see for savagery until I heard a girl

Your voice brought me back from there,

My most precious pearl.”

“I called out to you desperately, hoping against hope

I stumbled into darkness, blindly reached and groped

I brought you back from there with love,

But with love I couldn’t cope.”

“I don’t think there’s very much from then that I remember

But I can still see clear as clear ice on a white December

The kiss we shared that fateful day,

Just like I’d pretended.”

“I still can’t say what it was that came over me

I forgot my fears and worries, you were all that I could see

I took a risk, a single kiss,

The kiss that set me free.”

It was as if I saw the end of a terrible maze

“Over the years we learned to put our differences aside

We learned the priceless value of the heart that beats inside

Our friends and kin are dear to us,

And as dramatic as this sounds,

“Maybe it’s the seasons changing, but I feel so old
