Chapter 1

The Beginning to a New Life

It was early Saturday morning. I sat on my laptop, looking at random photos that I found on the internet, a normal Saturday morning for me.
I was completely bored out of my mind, being as how I had just finished school a couple weeks ago.

Well, my parents saw this as an opportunity.

"Honey, can you come down here for a minute? We'd like to speak to you."

"Yeah mom" I yelled downstairs as I struggled to get out of bed. I slowly made my way downstairs to see my parents in the livingroom with a rather serious look on their face.

"Uh... is everything okay?" I asked them.

"Well, Sun, um..." My mother started.

"Sun, there's a time in everypony's life when they leave home and start their own life..." My father said, finishing my mother's thought.

I interrupted. "I know where you're going with this dad... no need to continue." I sighed.

"Well... I guess it's time then." He replied.

I went upstairs to pack my things, returning after not too long. My mother had a very sad look on her face, meanwhile my father trying to hide his emotion, as he usually does.

I hugged both of them, and gave my mother a kiss.

"Good luck, son. Have fun." My father told me.

"Make sure to call us!" My mother said.

"Yeah mom, I know." I said, chuckling a bit.

A last look was given, and I walked out the door into Cloudsdale, having absolutely no idea what to do next.

*******

Cloudsdale. I had never really liked the place to begin with, despite living there my entire life. I walked around town a little bit, just wandering around. Eventually, I saw a familiar face. It was Cloudchaser.

"Hey Sun. What's going on?" She asked, approaching me.

"Oh, nothing much. Parents just kicked me out of the house, so I'm trying to find a way to get out of this place and start something of a life for myself..." I told her.

"Hmm... well, there's always the lands below the clouds." She suggested.

"Come to think of it, I've never been down there before." I said.

"Here. Follow me." She said, motioning me to follow.

We walked for a little bit, reaching the end of the clouds. It was a long drop below.

"Right down there." She told me, pointing toward the ground, far, far below.

"Well... Seems alright..." I said, hesitating.

"I guess this is goodbye. Come back and visit some time?" She asked.

"Of course." I replied.

She surprisingly gave me a tight hug, seeming as if she didn't want to let go.

"Goodbye Sun."

"Bye."

I gave her one last smile before she flew off, leaving just me and the edge of the cloud. I looked down with hesitation. I had been a pretty good flyer before, but I wasn't sure if I could pull this off. I placed one hoof off the cloud, taking a large dive.

I fell at great speeds, flapping my wings in an attempt to gain some kind of control. I finally managed to slow myself down to a comfortable pace, slowly gliding toward the ground, which was getting ever so closer.

I finally came to a stop in a large wheat field. I wasn't sure where I was, but it looked like there was some type of city not too far away. I began trotting in its direction, not sure what to expect.

I finally arrived to the town. It was a rather nice town, I would say. There were ponies all about, running errands and doing their usual work. I wandered around the town, looking to see if I could find anything.

I was greeted by a hyper, cotton-candy maned pink pony.

"Hi! I'm Pinkie Pie! Nice to meet you!" She said, full of energy.

"Hi. I'm Sun." I said.

"Oh my gosh, you're going to have the bestest time ever here!!!!" She said.

Someone's a little hyper...

"Okay... well, I need to be on my way. Seeya 'round."

"Bye-bye!!!" She said, frolicking away.

Phew.. finally...

Next came an orange pony wearing a little cowboy hat.

"Well hi, Ah'm Applejack, nice to meet ya." She said, shaking my hand furiously.

"Hi. My name's Sun." I responded, my hoof shaking up and down vigorously.

"Well, Ah'ma be off now, more applebuckin' to do!" She said, ending the handshake.

"Alright. Seeya." I said, advancing through the town.

Suddenly, a purple unicorn came up to me.

"Hi there. My name is Twilight Sparkle. You must be new to town, right?" She asked.

"Yeah.. my name is Sun. I just moved here, so now I'm looking for a place to stay for the night until I can go find a decent house with the money my parents gave me." I told her.

"Hmm... well, I guess you could stay at the library for the night..." She said.

"Oh, that's fine, you don't have to do that." I told her, being polite.

"No no, I insist." She said.

"Okay then. Let's go." I decided.

Well, that was awfully nice of a pony who I've known for 5 minutes.

It was starting to get a little dark when we finally arrived. She opened the door to the main room. She then walked up some stairs, in which I followed. She opened another door, into a bedroom.

"You can stay in here." She said.

It was a small bedroom, with a bed pushed up against the wall.

"Okay.. thanks." I said.

"No problem. Goodnight!" She said, disapearing around the corner.

"Night!" I shouted, before closing the door and plopping down onto the bed.

Well, this day was just full of surprises...

I closed my eyes and began to doze off, my thoughts slowly drifting away...
