Confronting Chaos in Grieving
Discord sat on a ledge situated on the outer edges of the smoky mountains. He felt tears attempting to get out as he just stared, watching the sun slowly sink under the water of the North Luna Ocean. This feeling, sadness as his gut told him, hurt? It hurt more then being stabbed by a million daggers. More then his power being stripped from his veins which hurt a lot. And that wasn't the worst part. The worst part was that his best friend, Fluttershy, couldn't be there to assist him in the aching pain... she was dead. It had surprised Discord when it happened, it went so fast, he could only hope she felt no pain.
"Discord." Said a voice he instantly recognized. It was Twilight Sparkle, he could hear her approaching.
"Twilight Sparkle." Discord replied, still focusing on the sun that was getting ever so closer to being submerged in the ocean. He looked down at the pony who was half his size as she sat down next to him, also looking at the sun. Her horn twinkled as she slowly controlled the sun that constantly inched closer to being down for the night.
"I have noticed that you are still in the mourning process of Fluttershy's death. Even after everypony else has already moved on." Twilight pinned her ears, looking up at Discord who flinched when she said 'Fluttershy'. And yet he said nothing. "Discord!" She shouted, "This is serious! You have been messing with town, killing crops, and not even been performing you're duties as Equestria's protector!" She stomped her hoof on the ground. The draconequus looked down at her, sorrow in his eyes as his ears pinned. Twilight was shocked, taken aback at the look on the creatures face. He instantly looked away.
"Give me a break, Twilight." He grunted, his ears pinning harder to his head. How could this pony be so ignorant? Did she not realize the cost of immortality? Watching as all of you're friends and family died as you stood there? Untouched by time? "I am bored, and its a good way to take out my sadness of this tragedy." Discord's tail twitched as he lifted his head up from the slouching position he was in before.
Twilight shook her head. "Get over it." She said bluntly, then Discord's eyes widened as his pupils narrowed at the statement.
"Get. over. it?" He repeated. Slowly turning his head to look at Twilight as she realized something, she made a huge mistake.
She sighed, "Discord, you know that isn't what I mean." Looking down, as she felt the draconequus stare down at her with anger.
"Oh? Then what did you mean?" He threatened, his tail swaying side to side in annoyance by the princess's antics.
Sighing once more, she let out her answer, "Discord, Fluttershy died many years ago, its unnatural for this grieving process to take so long. I understand she was you're first friend, but still it should have finished already." Twilight glanced up from the side of her eye to see that Discord had stood up on his 4 mitched matched paw, claws, and hoof. His wings spread as he was about to take off. "Discord! We aren't finished talking about this!" She exclaimed as she quickly stood up. But she was too late, the draconequus had taken off.
Author's Note
Hello! This is the first chapter of this book, I don't know how long exactly its gonna be but if you like it I already have chapter 2 out if you would like to read it!
As soon as Discord was out of sight of princess Twilight he teleported to the middle of the Everfree Forest trying to keep away from Twilight Sparkle. But he could hear her teleport right behind him, he pinned his ears. His tail flicks in annoyance. This pony is getting really annoying. Discord growled, "what do you want, Twilight."
"Discord, you're taking far to long with you're grieving." Twilight grunted. "Why are you-" She was cut off again.
"She was my first friend, Twilight." He snarled, clenching his teeth. "Don't tell me how long I should take with getting over this!" Discord stood up once again, instead with more anger and tensity then expected.
"I didn't mean too anger you, Discord..." Twilight looked at the ground as she felt the hard gaze of the mitch matched creature staring down at her.
"Back off, Twilight Sparkle." He snapped, approaching her, his lions paw's claws were unsheathed. In all ways Discord was more powerful then Twilight except their planning. Twilight thought through many possible outcomes of situations, but Discord just sat on one ending putting that as his head goal. But through all of this thinking of possible outcomes had she ever thought Discord would be this aggressive. Twilight quickly sat up, backing up.
"Discord- think of what you're doing right now!" Her horn began to power up with a powerful blast of magic. She shifted her hooves backwards to get away from the creature who was approaching quickly and aggressively. He raised his griffins claw, about to strike down. Twilight shot the magic right in the middle of the draconequus's claw, she opened her eyes to see that Discord had backed down after being shot with the blast. It had hit him past his scales, past his first layer of skin, and even past the second. He roared in pain as he looked down to see some of his scales had fallen on the ground, hints of blood?
Discord's eyes narrowed at the red liquid that had formed on the scales and in a little puddle. He sat down, panting as he examined his now heavily bleeding claw. He snapped his lion's paw and the the wound covered itself up with... cheese?
"What was that for!?" He exclaimed, standing back up, his tail swaying behind him. He limped forward looking down at the mare, ears pinned, he stared down, the mare below him cowered before she stood up tall on her 4 hooves.
"Discord, you need to listen!" She exclaimed, feeling small in her skin. "At least do something helpful, and not cause chaos!"
"Not cause chaos?" He said slowly, he sounded amused. This princess is dumber then I thought. "Did you forget I am the spirit of chaos and disharmony. Do you expect me not to be chaotic?"
Twilight looked at the ground thinking of a response. "M-maybe?" She said questioning her previous statement.
"Maybe?" He questioned once again, he palmed his face. "Okay listen here little princess," He growled. "I am not in the mood to do this, I just want to get back to my home in my pocket dimension and get some rest. So leave me alone."
"Not until you answer my question." Twilight replied, her voice not even quavering. "Why is this grieving process taking so long for you?"
Here we go. "Listen here Twilight. I am not gonna answer you. I don't need to and guess what? I also don't want to." Discord looked up at the now dark sky. Discord stood up, and snapped his griffins claw, and he was gone.
Twilight looked at where Discord had disappeared. Confused at his last statement. She sat there in the dark, being slightly illuminated by the moon and the fireflies that flickered around her. She sighed, standing up as she walked into the woods back to ponyville and her castle.
