The Story of Rainy Dashington
It's was an ordinary day for both Rainbow Dash and Twilight. They both decided to hang out together at Twilight's house since her house was a comfortable place to forget about life outside.
Well....it was a library after all.
"So Twilight what are we doing today?"
"Well I was going to do the entrance assignment for AWW!"
"I don't know any places around here that's called AWW!"
"No Rainbow Dash!! AWW stands for the Accelerate with Wings school."
"What a horrible name! If I was in charge of that school I would name it, Awesomeness will Win!"
"IT'S NOT A HORRIBLE NAME!! In fact the name you made up is even worse!!"
"Ok how about I name it, Twilight is such an egg head corporation?!!"
Twilight felt kind offended and annoyed at Rainbow Dash's nickname that she always given her, but she sighed and laughed a little since she had to admit it was a but funny.
"Well anyways, I have to ace this assessment or else I won't be accepted to the school."
"Oh ok well is there anything I could do that wouldn't bore me to death while you work on your.......thing?"
"Well I do still have my Daring Do books that are in the top left shelf over there!"
"Ok if you need me I'll be reading some Daring Do books on your bed, sounds good?"
"Absolutely-WAIT WHAT?!"
Before Twilight could protest, Rainbow Dash was already gone in a flash. Twilight sighed and started working on her entrance assignment.
Rainbow Dash was reading Daring Do fighting Caberlleron over the amulet of cumilacan when all of a sudden she her a blood curtailing scream coming from downstairs.
She rushed downstairs to only find Twilight surrounded by a bunch of crumbled up books.
"Hey Twilight is something wrong? I heard screaming coming from down here!"
"SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY WRONG ALRIGHT!!!!"
"What is it?! Did Chrysalis came back? Is there a zombie apocalypse? OH I KNOW, ARE HUNGRY VAMPIRES TAKING OVER EQUESTRIA?!!!"
"NO!"
"Then what's the problem here?!"
"I can't figure out question twenty three!!"
Rainbow Dash stared at Twilight deadpan before facepalming.
"Look, it may not be an attack on Equestria, but it's still a huge problem since I need to pass this assessment!"
"Ok, but I'm pretty sure missing a few problems still gets you like an A- or a B+ which is still passing you know!"
"THAT'S NOT THE POINT!! I'M CELESTIA'S STAR PUPIL, IT'S IMPERATIVE THAT I GET 100S ON ALL ASSIGNMENTS, UNDERSTAND?!!"
Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes and nodded at the erratic Twilight.
"Ok let me see this question, I think I could help!"
"Well I must warn you it's a very confusing and tedious question!"
"Whatever, just show it to me."
"Okay!"
Twilight levitated the assessment towards Rainbow Dash.
"Uhhh......I don't see question 21 Twilight."
"Oh, my bad I forgot to flip the paper!"
Once Twilight flipped the paper, Rainbow Dash could see question 21 in the middle. The question was, What makes the bones in the wings flap?
"Ok, so what answer did you put down for this question?"
"Well that's just the thing, I didn't put an answer down for that question."
"Wait why?"
"Because the answer I was going to put down was magic since each creature has magic in them, but that's not one of the answer choices which is very strange!"
"Hmmm......"
Rainbow Dash thought about the question for a few minutes before finally coming up with a conclusion.
"Is brain waves one of the answer choices?"
"Let me check!"
Twilight flipped the paper to her direction. After a few minutes of scanning the paper,her jaw dropped in shock.
"Y-Yes....it is! B-But how?! Magic is the energy that activates the body!!"
"That's actually not true. See while we do have magic in our bodies it isn't the thing that activates the parts of our body. The brain sends waves down to the wings which in turn activates the magic to flap out wings."
"That still doesn't make sense, how can magic be activated by the brain?"
"Ok let me give you an example, your horn doesn't turn on magic passively, you have to activate it right?"
"Yes!"
"So the magic in your body isn't passive, it's something you have to activate with your brain waves. It's like the time when you we're trying to turn that apple into an orange but you turned the frog into an orange instead. The magic doesn't automatically turn it into an orange, you have to vision the orange in your head for it to turn into an orange. The brain is the key to everything!!"
Twilight sat there speechless at what just happened. It took a while for her to finally wake up into reality.
"R-Rainbow Dash.....I can't believe you figured out this question so easily, it took me a good 2 hours!!"
"I can understand why it would take you a few hours to understand. In studies it's shown that 100 out of 1,000 ponies get that question right."
"Well if only 100 out of 1,000 ponies got that question right, then how did you out of all ponies figured it out?" No offense......"
"Oh none taken, it probably was a lucky guess!"
Rainbow Dash started chuckling for a little bit, but after awhile realized that Twilight was looking at her very seriously.
"Rainbow Dash......it's highly unlikely that you could've guessed that answer. You said that 100 out of 1,000 ponies get that right. That's a very low percentage of ponies and for someone like you to just randomly guess the right answer, it just doesn't add up!"
Twilight then noticed that Rainbow Dash was sweating a lot than usual.
"Wait a minute........you're not telling the whole truth, are you?!"
"NO NO! I'm definitely telling the truth, it was just a lucky guess!"
Rainbow Dash tried reassuring Twilight by giving her a fake smile, but all it led to was intense glaring from Twilight that made her sweat even more.
"Rainbow, I know you're lying, so just tell me the truth already!!"
After a few more minutes of Twilight savage glare, Rainbow Dash finally broke down in defeat.
"ALRIGHT ALRIGHT!! YOU WANT TO KNOW MY SECRET?!! I WAS A EGGHEAD JUST LIKE YOU!!!"
Twilight frozed for a few minutes before busting out laughing.
"N-Nice joke Rainbow!"
Rainbow Dash then got up and walked towards Twilight until she was muzzle to muzzle with her.
"I AM NOT JOKING!!!"
"Oh..........I'm sorry I didn't know!"
"OF COURSE YOU DON'T, YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ME!!"
Realizing that tears were about to form Twilight's eye, Rainbow Dash gave her a hug.
"I-I'm sorry.......I shouldn't have snapped at you like that. I had a lot of stuff bottled up inside me, you know?"
"Y-Yeah...I understand."
"There's something I need to tell you......."
"What is it?"
Rainbow Dash took a deep breath before releasing her arms around Twilight.
"You see Dash isn't really my real last name. My last name is Dashington."
"As in Rainy Dashington?"
"Correct. You see way back before I met you AJ, Pinkie, and the rest of you guys, I was an egghead just like you."
"Really? What did you study?"
"I studied the body parts and how everything worked inside. I was really interested in all that nerd stuff you know! Which eventually made me come up with the idea to make metal horns and wings that could be used by earth ponies."
"Wow Rainbow Dash!! That's a genius idea, what made you quit?"
This question made Rainbow Dash uneasy to tell the story even further, but she needed to get it off her chest. Rainbow Dash sighed and kept going with her story.
"It started at the school I was going to in cloudsdale. The school I went to was a regular school. I don't like to brag or anything but I was an A's straight student."
"That's really great Rainbow Dash, I'm proud of you!"
"Thanks Twilight, but you want to know what wasn't great? Tisha and her gang of crackheads!"
"Tisha?"
"Yeah Tisha! She and her gang would always pick on me the first chance she got!" It was horrible!! She would have her gang surround me so I would be late for school, steal my lunch money, and shove me in the locker for the rest of the day until someone found me and let me out."
"Geez Rainbow, I knew you got bullied for your flying, but I didn't know it happened at school too!"
"At first it was basic bullying tactics, but then Tisha did something so traumatic, I'll never forget it..........."
........
"Okay everyone please take your seats, we have a lot of stuff we need to talk about!"
"Probably stuff that's not important......"
"I heard that Tisha, this stuff is very imperative since you'll have a science fair that'll be a test grade!"
Everyone in the class was upset from this news, well everyone except Rainy Dashington.
"A science fair would be the perfect place to try out my robotic wings and horns!"
"Of course it would for a egghead like you!"
"I rather be an egghead than a dumb grape colored moron!!"
Everyone cheered for the very accurate and honest roast that Rainy gave to Tisha. Well at least until the teacher came and quiet them down.
"I would appreciate it if you would withhold your comments until after school, Rainy and Tisha."
"I'm sorry sir it won't happen again."
"Good and Tisha?"
"Whatever!"
"Thank you!"
When Rainy turned around she could see Tisha mouth the words, "You're going to pay for this!!" This frightened Rainy for a little bit, but decided to ignore her and focus on what the teacher had to say.
"As I said before we'll be having a science fair that'll be counted as a test grade, but that's not all! If you get a 100 for the science fair you'll have a chance to be accepted in the Accelerate with Wings association!"
......
"Waiiit a minute.....isn't that the same school you said had a terrible name?...."
Twilight saw Rainbow Dash blushing and smirked.
"Yeah yeah, it was the same school that you're signing up for. The only thing though was back then there was not entrance assignment, you had to get a 100 for the project you turned into for the science fair."
"Hmmm....that's interesting! Well why did you say that the school had a bad name and it was boring?"
"Because whenever I look at that school it always gave me that same horrific memory that I'm telling you now."
"Oh okay............well you can continue!"
"Oh right, so the teacher talked all about the science fair and everything, then around lunch time a of fillies we're talking about what project they were going to do. I was eating my salad as usual when Tisha walked towards me.........."
"Yo Rainy I need to talk to you!!"
"Ok Rainy, just ignore and keep eating. Just think of Tisha as an annoying bee, just stay frozen and she'll leave you alone!"
"HEY, I'M SAID I'M TALKING TO YOU, I KNOW YOU COULD HERE ME!!"
But Rainy didn't flinched she kept eating her salad like nothing had happened. Then in anger Tisha grabbed Rainy's salad and threw it across the cafeteria. Rainy sighed and looked towards Tisha.
"What do you want Tisha?!! My lunch money?!!"
"NO!! I......wanted to apologize to you....."
"Yeah ask someone else for some-WAIT WHAT?!!"
"DON'T ACT STUPID RAINY!!! I SAID I WANTED TO APOLOGIZE TO YOU!!!"
Tisha quickly realized that all she was doing was confusing Rainy even more, so she calmed down and tried again.
"I wanted to apologize............for how badly I've been treating you. I know this may seem like this came out of nowhere.......but you were always better than me! The reason why I do the things that I do is because.........I'm jealous that I could never be like you! Are you ok Rainy?"
Tisha realized there were tears coming under Rainy's eyes.
"O-Oh yeah I'm ok! It's just that nopony has complimented me like the way you did. Well my parent does, but it feels more special when it's someone that's not related to you, you know?"
"Yeah I totally get that!"
"Soo......did you mean every word you said?"
"Every word Rainy, don't worry!"
"Ok then I forgive you!"
"R-Really? Even for all the things I've done to you?!"
"Of course that's what friends do!"
Tisha blushed and sat next to Rainy. She then practiced the words that she was going to say next in her mind before releasing them out of her mouth.
"Hey Rainy, I was wondering if it would be alright if I come with you after school and help you with the project you're going to do for the science fair next week?" I mean you don't have to say yes I was just wondering-"
Rainy used her hoof to close Tisha's mouth softly.
"It's ok Tisha, I'd love for you to come over after school!"
Tisha smiled and hugged Rainbow Dash. The bell afterwards rung which made both of them leave each other to go to their separate classes.
"See you after school, Tisha!!"
"See ya Rainy!!"
But unbenosed to Rainy, Tisha left with a huge evil grin on her face.
.......
"Well it seems that Tisha finally changed her ways after all!!"
"I really wish that was true, but it turned out to all be a setup!"
"Geez this pony doesn't give you a break does she?"
"Nope, not at all! After school and everything we started walking to where we were going to work at for the whole week......."
........
"Woah......are you sure this is the place we're going to be working at?"
"Yep it sure is! I call it my secret labatory!"
"Wow, you have one badass lab here, Rainy!!"
"Thanks I made it myself!"
Both of them headed inside Rainy's secret lab. It was packed with a surge amount of inventions. Rainy enjoyed seeing Tisha's reactions to all of the inventions that they walked past by.
"What does this thing do?"
"Oh that? I call it the Instinct Pack! It's suppose to generate lots of speed for the brain, so that it can so much brain signals to your wings that it makes your wings move without thinking!"
"How did you get the material to make this?"
"Well my dad is an engineer, so I just borrow some if the metal that he brings back to make stuff like this."
"So badass!"
"Let's keep moving, we still haven't reached the room where we'll be working at!"
"Alright!"
The two mares kept walking into the various rooms of inventions until they reached into a room that was big, but had nothing in it at all.
"Hey Rainy this is a nice room and everything, but there's nothing in here that gives it that pizzazz like the other rooms we've been to."
"Well that's on purpose Tisha. See we need a room like this, so we'll have space to use the materials to make the metal wings and horns. This project in particular requires lots of material, so I think that this room will be able to carry all those materials."
"Oh ok that makes sense. Alright are you ready to start working on this thing?",
"You bet I am!"
"Great, let's get to work!"
Rainy received a hoof bump from Tisha and then got started on working on the metal wings and horns. In the following days the progress of the metal wings and horns showed. Until finally they made the first version of the metal wings and horns.
"Hey Rainy this looks really good don't you think?"
"Yeah it's looks pretty amazing so far!"
"Neato! Now I'm going to take this to the teacher and-"
"WAIT!! You can't give it to him yet it's only prototypes!"
"Prototypes?!! What's wrong with it, looks fine to me!!"
"Well first off we haven't tried it yet to make sure it actually works, second we didn't all the material in it, and lastly we haven't painted or anything to make it stand out!"
"Seriously I did all this work and now I have to work even harder than I did before?! No way!! I'm taking this in right now!!"
"No don't!! We can't turn something in that's not fully completed and also WE worked on this not just you!!"
"Whatever!!!"
Tisha dropped the 2 prototypes on the floor before heading towards the door.
"I'm going to take a cigarette break!! You can work on your prototypes by yourself!!"
Rainy sighed and picked up the slightly cracked prototypes.
"Hopefully when she comes back, she'd have cooled off and be ready to work again. I hope she doesn't take it the wrong way, but unless I get a 100 on the project I won't be able to get a chance to go to Accelerate with Wings association. I really want to get into that school so I can continue my research and inventions!"
Rainy worked the next 2 days on making the prototypes the real thing. Unfortunately she had to do this by herself since Tisha didn't show up at all. Eventually she was able to polish it and even tested it out. It worked perfectly well.
"Now that everything is working and all I have to do is paint it and I should be good to go-"
Before Rainy felt something hard hit her head, making her would go black. She heard something bang at the wall.
"W-What happened...........?"
Rainy tried to move but she noticed that she was tied to a chair. She tried to break the rope, but it was no use.
"It was about time you woke up!"
The voice that Rainy heard was horrifically familiar and she couldn't believe it at first.
"No no!! It can't be her, she's not like how she was before! She's changed!"
"I just wanted to say thanks for letting me take your little science project! It'll definitely help me ace the science fair!!"
Unfortunately the voice was undoubtedly so familiar that she had to accept who was standing in front of her.
"T-TISHA?! WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?!! I THOUGHT WE WERE FRIENDS!!!"
"Friends?!! FRIENDS?!!"
Tisha hit Rainy with the crowbar she was using to practice on the walls. Blood was flowing from Rainy's face.
"I would never be friends with you!! I just pretended to be your friend so that I could use you to make my science project!!! I TOLD YOU BEFORE YOU WERE GOING TO PAY!!!"
Bloody tears came flowing out of Rainy's eyes at the realization.
"I-I............t-thought we were friends................"
Tisha swung the crowbar at Rainy again and again until there was a cracking sound on her skull which made her scream out in pain.
"LIKE I SAID BEFORE, WE ARE NOT FRIENDS!!! HOW MANY TIMES MUST I HIT YOU WITH THIS CROWBAR FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND?!!"
The almost unconscious blue Pegasus looked up at her and said one last thing.......
"I.........................t-t-thought.......we........were friends.........."
Tisha threw the crowbar on the floor. She then started punching and punching Rainy which made one of her tooth got knocked out of her teeth. After 30 minutes of Tisha constant torture, Rainy was left with a big smulging black eye on her face. The last thing Rainy saw before going unconscious was Tisha taking her metal wings and horns and hear her tell her clique to burn everything on fire.
.........
"W-When I woke up......I was in the hospital with my mom and dad and there was a doctor........."
Rainbow Dash tried to hold back the sniffing, but failed at doing so.
"T-The doctor told me......that I've been in a coma for 3 years.....which means 3 years was taken away from my life because of that sick bastard!!!"
"Dear Celestia.........."
"A-AND NOT ONLY THAT TWILIGHT, BUT SHE BURNED ALL MY INVENTIONS THAT I WORKED SO HARD FOR AND NOW SHE PROBABLY GOT ACCEPTED AT THAT DAMN SCHOOL!!!"
Rainbow Dash broke out crying on Twilight's lap. Twilight comforted Rainbow Dash all the way. She needed a crying shoulder to lay in and Twilight was going to be that crying shoulder-or lap.
"It's going to be ok Rainbow, it's going to be ok."
......
Rainbow Dash was laying in her bed the next morning with Tank when she heard a knock at the door. When she opened the door, she saw Twilight standing outside.
"Oh hey Twilight what do you need?"
"Oh nothing, I just wanted to show you something that I made for you!"
"Really? Well it's not my birthday yet."
"Well.....I felt it was the most appropriate time to give you the gift now."
"Okay, I'm coming!"
After Rainbow Dash got ready for the day, both her and Twilight flew to Twilight's house to see what was the, surprise.
"Ok Rainbow Dash, follow me downstairs!"
"Alright!"
Rainbow Dash followed Twilight down the long stairs. After they finally reached the bottom, Twilight used her horn to lit up the room.
"What in Celestia........?"
"It's my secret lab that I would use to not only do spells, but to also do inventions too. I'm going to give this lab to you!"
"W-What me?!"
"Yes!"
"No no Twilight!! I can't accept something like this!! This is your lab!!! You made this on your own!!!"
"No Rainbow I insist. You've proven that you need this lab far more than me. Your ideas are some of the best ideas in Equestria and I feel like these ideas should be implemented and what better way than using a lab?"
Rainbow Dasy smiled and embraced Twilight with a hug.
"Thank you so much Twilight!"
"No problem Rainbow!"
"You know, I changed my name from Rainy Dashington to Rainbow Dash, so that nopony could ever recognize who I was and what happened to me, but I feel like if I'm going to do this again it's more appropriate. So call me Rainy!"
"Okay Rainy! You're ready to get to work?!"
"You bet!!!"
