Three years after her niece was crowned to rule the Crystal Empire, Twilight met with Neighsay to discuss upgrading Equestria to modern technology. Neighsay agreed and he passed the torch to a new leader of the EEA before gathering a group to design the new technology. They were successful after much trial and error, but nopony anticipated what would happen after trying to create Artificial Intelligence. The world is now at war with its own creations. Twenty years have passed and the machines are holding victory so far. Is there any hope for those that remain, or is Equestria doomed?
