Sunset Shimmer “Aww come on. Don’t worry I’ll be back on Christmas to celebrate it with you guys too.” I was embraced in a large group hug after I spoke. Right now I was just about to leave back to Equestria to visit, since we are off on our Christmas Holdiays. “You better be back on the 25th or I’m coming for you.” Pinkie was giving me a spine chilling glare, before switching back to her normal attitude. “But I know you won’t.” “Alright, alright everyone. Let’s let Sunset go have a good time over in Equestria. It is her home place after all.” Apple Jack, my saviour. I hate trying to say goodbyes, even if they aren’t forever. “Thanks Apple Jack. But I’m gonna go over now, Princess Twilight should be waiting for me on the other side.” I went to grab my suitcase and left through the portal saying one last, “Bye.” Followed by 6 other ones. I smiled and waved as I phased through the glass as if it wasn’t even there. I really disliked the feeling when going through the portal. The feeling of my body changing to fit a whole other one. It didn’t hurt, it was just severely uncomfortable. After about a few seconds, which actually felt like minutes. I arrived in the castle, I’d been flung forward and was now laying in a stack of books, upside down. Just perfect, this was surely the best way ever to come through the portal. I let out a groan as I fixed myself around the right way. “Oh hey Sunset. Your finally here.” I recognised that voice. How could I not. It belonged to none other than Twilight Sparkle, one of my greatest friends. “Twilight!” I rushed forward wrapping my hooves around her in a tight embrace which she eagerly returned. “Oh Celestia it’s been a while since actually seeing you in person. Er uh, in pony.” She giggled at me mixing up the word pony with person. Guess I was just so used to the other world. “It’s great to see you too Sunset. Just a quick heads up, I might be a little busy with setting up for Hearth’s Warming. So you may have to find conversation with other ponies around Here for a little.” Huh? “Oh, umm. I was never that great at making any pony friends when I was living here. I just never saw the reasoning for it back then.” She gave me a pondering look for a moment, “Well I’ll just introduce you to some ponies and you could take it from there right?” I paused for a moment before nodding, “I’d hope so atleast. Thanks.” Twilight gave me a warm smile before we heard the door opening. In walked a large white unicorn, a stallion with a blue mane with both dark and light shades accompanied by nice bright blue eyes. “Hey Twily, they sent me to tell you they need you to go make some final decisions for them. I don’t think they really got your original request.” The stallion glanced at me, “Oh who’s this?” “This is Sunset, she’s the friend from across the portal I’ve told you about, you remember her right?” The stallion nodded, “Ahh of course. I’ve heard great things about you.” He smiled at me. “Well I should get going to help the decorators get everything in order, why don’t you two try and be friends for a bit while I’m gone?” Before any of us could speak a word she’d already ran off. The room remained silent, an awkward silence to say the least. The room stayed in the uncomfortable deafness until he turned around to face me, “So, you probably don’t know but my name’s Shining Armor. I’m Twily’s older brother.” Oh yeah, how did I not see it. Twilight had told me loads about him through our occasional little chats in our matching journals. “Oh now I see, Twilight’s told me plenty about you.” He snickered a bit, “All good things I hope.” I let my own giggle escape my throat, “Of course don’t worry. Nothing bad.” “Well what’s it like beyond the portal? Do they still have griffons and manticores over there?” Oh, this will be a real fun one to explain. “Maybe we should go grab a drink or something, this is going to be quite the story.” Sunset Shimmer “Wait, wait, wait. So your telling me just by going through that portal, we are no longer ponies but things called humans. With whatever hands are and only walking on our hind legs?” The shock in his voice was very clear. “Yep, not to mention everyone you’ll find from that world that belongs there, has a pony counterpart here that’s exactly similar to them.” He paused to think about the situation for a moment. “Interesting. Have you ever seen my human counterpart?” “Oh yeah totally, I’ve seen him around Twilight sometimes. I think he’s a policeman, not too sure though.” We began to approach the place we’d planned to go get drinks from. “You have to take me there someday. I need to see that place.” Damn he really sounds dedicated to finding some way to go there. We finally got inside and into line, there surprisingly weren’t that many people around. We approached the counter as I prepared my order. “Hello and what would you like today?” I scanned the menu one last time quickly. “Just a hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream for me please.” I handed over some bits to pay for it. “Oh make that 2 please.” Shining did the same as I had before as she took the bits up and put them in the register. “You May take a seat your drinks should be ready soon.“ “Thank you.” We both let out at the same time leaving for a table by the window. “You know you aren’t that bad Sunset.” My gaze met his, “You aren’t so bad yourself Shining.” We both laughed together as our drinks were brought over. ‘Should be ready soon’? More like in a few seconds, Celestia they were fast. “So are we friends or something now?” I asked taking a sip of my hot chocolate. “I guess so huh?” We exchanged warm smiles and began to drink our hot chocolates. Author's Note This was my first time participating in Jinglemas, it was decently fun. Also sorry if this isn’t what you exactly planned for jqnexx (https://www.fimfiction.net/user/23431/jqnexx). There was no exact phrasing for how the story should be, just Sunset and Shining Armor. So I kept it in the platonic route just to be safe.
