The New War has ended in a decisive victory for the Tenno, along with the return of their leader, the Lotus. The puppet-state of Narmer has collapsed. Their Orokin leader, Ballas, defeated. Now, the Origin System must begin to heal from the deep-running scars of the war against the Sentients.

This task leads a squad of five Tenno to ask...what awaits them in the Tau System, now that Origin has been saved? What could lie there that holds so much power? What did Ballas hope to claim there?

The answer is far more complicated, as the Tenno discover the planet Equis, and its fantastical myriad of inhabitants. Their ways of peace, friendship, and harmony have served them well for centuries...but with the arrival of the Tenno...that changes.

For something slumbers deep below Equestria...and it is about to wake up. And when it does...only the Tenno can hope to stand against it.
