Author's Note
I wrote this story as a way of explaining what I feel the end of the world would be like.
This story may pull on your heartstrings and you may need a box of tissues.
An angel and two alicorns walk into a bar...
This was it.
Everything was about to end.
The universe was about to completely collapse in on itself, destroying everything.
The beginning of the end. The end of everything that existed.
Princess Celestia looked up at the sky, or what was left of it. Ponies and other creatures screaming in terror as they tried to flee the unstoppable event.
Celestia felt tears leave her eyes as she shook. She didn't want to go out like this. No being did.
It was inevitable. They would all die like this and no being could stop it from happening.
Luna walked up to her sister, afraid for what would happen next.
"Sister? I'm scared. I don't want to die. Not like this. Why do we have to go out this way and not peacefully as two old mares who have lived far too long?" Luna questioned, tears of fear and sadness in her eyes.
Celestia sighed, holding her own tears back. She hoped she'd never, ever, have to answer a question like what her sister had just asked her.
"I'm afraid I don't know why it is happening now of all times, Luna. There is nothing not even I, you or Discord could do to prevent it." Celestia answered bluntly. She didn't want to die, either. Their fate was to die at the end of the world.
The ground around them caught alight, burning and crackling as the smell of ash had begun to fill the air around them. The darkness they called the night soon filled with meteors of different sizes. Each one impacting Equus, destroying it slowly.
"Why, mother? Why did you leave us like this? Why do we have to go out like this?" Luna screamed at the skies. Their mother had left them a very long time ago.
Celestia draped a wing over her sister's back in comfort. The reassurance wouldnt last long.
The two alicorns sat on a hil above Ponyville as the residents screamed and wailed in fear. Celestia knew she couldn't comort them. It wouldn't work this time.
Suddenly, another pair of wings were heard behind them. Both Celestia and Luna turned around and looked up towards the sound of the wings.
What they saw astonished them.
The creature was bipedal with black hair, dark brown eyes and white skin. The creature seemed to have an athletic body akin to that of a minotaur's. The creature also had a pair of majestic and glowing white wings which fluttered slowly as it flew.
What Celestia noticed next caused her to feel a lump in her throat.
The creature had it's limbs wrapped around Twilight, tightly holding her in case of any nearby explosions caused by the meteors.
The creature dropped Twilight gently, placing her next to Celestia before it landed.
"Greetings, my name is Lucifer Morningstar. I am an angel. It seems like your world is ending. You have my deepest condolences. Sadly, I do not have the power to prevent the end of the world. Only my father God does." Lucifer sighed as he took in the screams and wails of the terrified citizens below him.
"W-Why is it happening now?" Celestia asked, looking at Lucifer fearfully.
The fallen angel didn't know what to say. He never thought that his father would actually cause the end of the world.
"I don't know. Dad would never go so far as to actually cause the end of the world. I mean, he wiped out hundreds of creations made by him called Humans. He caused a flood and wiped out nearly almost all of his Humans. " Lucifer replied.
Celestia and Luna were slack-jawed. Why would somepony so powerful do such a thing?
"So your dad is 'God'?" Luna asked Lucifer confusedly. However, he simply chuckled.
"Yes. He and mother created everything in the universe. God and Goddess." Lucifer remembered when hundreds of souls were sent to Hell right after the flood.
"W-What happened after the flood?" Celestia asked him nervously.
"Afterwards he created a rainbow which was him telling them that he would never do something so extreme again. Albeit that the Humans wrote it in the Old Testament hence why we angels called it the Old Testament Wrath. Noah was a truly good man and so was Moses." Lucifer answered. He'd met Moses when his twin brother, Michael, was down on Earth.
"Who was Noah and Moses?" Twilight asked curiously, her eyes widened in shock.
"Moses was able to part one of the seas on a planet called Earth which was created by my father, God. Noah was tasked by Dad to build a boat and get animals on it, then take it and all the animals on board to Urartu which is now called Turkey."
The three princesses were astonished at the events told by the angel.
Curious, Twilight spoke up.
"Erm, Mister Lucifer, if I may ask. How old are you?" She was curious and wanted to know how old he was.
"Seventeen point three billion years old. I was born around the start of the universe, or, The Big Bang as Humanity dubs it."
All three princesses were shocked at the age of the angel. No one they knew had ever lived to that age. Only Celestia and Luna knew someone who was eternal. Their mother, Faust.
"Before the flood, before Humanity, there were two humans named Adam and Eve. Humans believed I tempted Eve by getting her to eat an apple, which wasn't true. It was a pomegranate and I tempted her the old fashioned way. I tempted her by getting her into my bed, so to speak." Lucifer chuckled, he'd done a lot of good and bad in his life. No being was perfect. Not even his parents or angels. Despite what Humanity believed.
"Why do we have to die here and now?" Twilight asked sadly, she wouldn't get to live a full and long life.
"I don't know. By the way I never asked, what's your name?" Lucifer asked, inquisitive.
"Twilight. Twilight Sparkle." She answerd as she smiled.
Lucifer's expression turned somber as more of Equus started to break and explode.
The screams and wails of the doomed ponies soon ceased.
"I'm so sorry, Twilight." Lucifer choked out, tears in his eyes. Not even the death of the dinosaurs had made him this upset. Innocent lives taken by his father for whatever reason he had.
Lucifer had wrapped his wings around Twilight and the other two ponies next to her, shielding them from incoming meteors and blasts.
But it was already too late.
Their world's atmosphere had been destroyed and they had died, however Lucifer was unaffected by it as he didn't need to breathe in space due to being created by his father.
The ponies he held had been reduced to nothing but ash in the vacuum of space.
He lowered his head and let himself be absorbed into the vacuum of space as he too died. The universe soon exploded around him as he was absorbed by it.
Nothing has been left except the empty blackness of space. Nothing. No stars, black holes, planets, moons, suns, dwarf suns and galaxies.
Absolutely nothing.
