Kaffein

When cornered, does an animal accept its fate or does it fight back? The choices it picks throughout life are of its own accord. All the sins and virtues it carries are its responsibility. It has none to blame for its predicament other than itself. It reaps what it sows.

Kaff is a man who has all and his future to lose. Though over, the Seven Years War is still fresh on his mind as he finds himself in the Americas, standing under another empire's banner. As his Prussian origins are nought but memories, he clings to what little he has left. He struck a dead-end back home, but maybe this time he'll find something different.

A big thank you to my editor jonboss86 for making this story possible. Also special thanks to Stinium_Ruide for extra help in proofreading and general criticism.

This story is a rewrite of Coffee and Gunpowder with substantial differences. I chose to make a different story so that the previous work could still be read freely. I will do my best to follow update schedules, but I make no guarantees. Image by Carl Röchling.
