Chapter One: Sombra’s Unexpected Visit
King Sombra; (the human world version of him), is currently watching television while lounging on the couch. Why? Well because a: he’s got all his work done, and felt like relaxing. B: because he’s feeling a little stressed because of his day going a little rough due to his students being in a bad mood for some reason… . And c: he couldn’t figure it out, but he felt like that his day was gonna go from bad, to worse… . He just couldn’t figure it out… .
“Are we sure that this is the right place?” Cadence asked while looking up Sombra’s home on the maps app on her phone.
“I’m sure honey.. don’t worry.” Shining replied, trying his best to keep his eyes on the road.
“No… . No baba… .” Flurry Heart babbled quietly in her sleep while strapped to her car seat.
The parents were glad that their daughter was cooperative this time… . Usually Flurry Heart wouldn’t be so nice to them; on account of her terrible twos. But if anybody had to guess; the parents were probably thinking that she had a bad day too at daycare: as it was evident of the many countless plushies that were destroyed in her playroom with the other kids.
“Let’s just call him… . I’m sure that he will understand… .” Cadence said while readying her phone to call Sombra.
Shining Armor sighs, and then says; “I don’t know… . You sure that he can handle our daughter when she’s like this?”
Cadence nods, and says; “he’s babysat before… so I’m sure he can handle her. And besides… what’s the worst that can happen?”
Few minutes later … .
“This… ! This can happen!” Shining Armor said while having baby scratches and bite marks all over him while Flurry is wailing and flailing while being carried by her dad.

Chapter Two: The Terrible Twos Toddler
Sombra is currently trying his best to calm Flurry Heart, but with no luck. And as for the parents; they were hurt due to their daughter scratching them, hitting and kicking them, and biting them. Least Flurry Heart wasn’t too strong, and also that her nails weren’t too sharp or long. Plus that her teeth weren’t sharp as well. Her teeth are too small to do any real damage of course, and that there weren’t that many teeth to begin with… ; otherwise it’ll hurt a lot.
“S-Sombra?” Cadence said through a wincing face since she’s still hurt from all the scratches. “C-can you watch over Flurry Heart for a while… ? P-please… ?”
Sombra sighs, and then says; “I don’t think I can… . It’s my day off… and I don’t think I can handle it. Besides…” Sombra trailed off as he’s setting Flurry Heart on his shoulder. “I had a bad day too, and I really need to cool off. Do you understand… ?”
Flurry Heart began to whimper; no longer crying anymore, but might again soon. She looks up to Sombra and said: “m-me had bad day twoo.”
Sombra sighs, and then says; “look kid; it’s not like I don’t wanna watch over you; I still do… . But… you really gotta understand that I’m having a bad day too. Can you do that?”
Flurry Heart sighs too and nodded with her head. “Owkay” she says, right before laying her head against Sombra’s chest and falling asleep; since it’s past her nap time, and also that she’s being cradled. That’s all.
Both parents sigh, and then Cadence said; “we’ll leave it up to you for now… . If there’s any trouble, then don’t be afraid to call. Understand?”
Sombra nodded, then said; “will do m’am”, while trying to look determined.
Cadence chuckles, then says; “alright then… “ and turns to Shining Armor before saying; “let’s go honey”, and leaves the two behind. But before they actually left, Cadence turned to Sombra, and then said; “oh.. and one more thing. She might have… .” But before she could go any further; Flurry Heart then proceeded to projectile barf onto the floor; luckily missing everything and everyone; aside from a part of the floor in the living room where it landed.
“Got it. I’ll be sure to watch out for her sickness.” Sombra said as he can now hear Flurry Heart moaning from her feeling after she barfed.
Feeling bad, Flurry Heart then babbled; “me feew sickie…” and then falls back asleep.
Nodding, Cadence then waved the two farewell, and left with her husband. Meanwhile, Sombra is carefully cradling Flurry Heart, and then thinks to himself; “oh how I should’ve known…” before going to the kitchen to clean up the leftover barf over Flurry Heart’s mouth.

Chapter Three: Storm Brewing
After having cleaned up the barf from the floor, King Sombra is still carrying Flurry Heart, but with a towel to lay her head down on his shoulder for just in case. Sombra is just sitting on the couch patting Flurry’s back as a means to calm her down, and hopefully quell any bad feelings that she’s gonna have when she feels sick. Meaning that Sombra’s making sure that Flurry Heart doesn’t puke again; hence why the towel on his shoulder.
“You feeling okay?” Sombra asked while Flurry Heart is lying her head down on one of his shoulders. Flurry Heart nodded her head slowly, as it’s her own way of making sure she doesn’t barf again, and then starts sucking on her thumb. Seeing this, he chuckles slightly, and then says; “so… , since you’re sick and all… , what do you wanna do?” Flurry Heart responded with a yawn and starts rubbing one of her eyes; thankfully without her drool covered thumb getting in the way. Sombra smiles, and then says; “I guess we could nap. I was having a rough day too. Would you like that?” Flurry Heart nodded again, smiles, and starts to relax and close her eyes while falling asleep. Feeling Flurry Heart relaxing, Sombra smiles again, whispers; “goodnight little princess”, and then starts laying his head down on one of the couch’s armrests so he could fall asleep too.
Cadence and Shining Armor are at home, passed out on the couch, and making sure that they’re not crushing each other while sharing the couch with each other for a nap.
After a while Cadence starts to get up, and then asks; “I’m starting to miss Flurry Heart already… . Are you?” Shining Armor; too tired to really say anything, mumbles something in his sleep, and then begins to drift off back to sleep. Sighing; knowing that she’s just being silly for missing her daughter after a few hours have passed, and then says; “maybe you’re right… . It’s nothing… .” and then falls back asleep with her husband.
Yet however though, she just couldn’t shake this one feeling that something bad is gonna happen to her daughter. She knows that it’s nothing, but she just couldn’t help it. Only time will tell if she’s correct… . Only time… , will tell… .
Flurry Heart and Sombra are still asleep on the couch; unaware of what’s gonna happen next. Eventually they will… .
“Rolling storms are currently heading in this direction.” the tv weatherman is pointing on the green screen weather chart before him. “So if you’re in this area, and have children, then good luck… . Cuz you’re gonna need it.”
Knowing of the irony, and the fact that their senses about something wrong was correct, both Cadence and Shining Armor turned to look at each other, and said; “uh oh…” in unison.
Heavy rain clouds hang over the home of Sombra, slowly rumbling as they’re approaching. Flurry Heart began to whimper, but eventually thought nothing of it and went back to sleep; thinking that it was Sombra’s stomach making that noise since she’s laying on it. Ohh how she couldn’t have been more wrong… .
Five minutes have passed, and nothing yet. Until… Boom!
Flurry Heart awoke with a jolt, and then started crying, causing Sombra to wake up as well. After regaining his bearings, Sombra looked around to see what the problem is, but eventually figured it out as he could hear rain pelting the living room windows, and also hearing a crack of thunder.
Seeing that Flurry Heart is still crying, Sombra sighs, picks up Flurry Heart, and then says; “you’ll be fine pal… . Relax… . It’ll be okay… .” Hearing thunder rumbling, Flurry Heart yelped softly, and then hugged Sombra tightly while also covering her face on his shoulder so she won’t see anything scary.
Now that Flurry Heart is scared, and no longer crying, Sombra slowly uncovers her face, and says; “you wanna sing a song together? That usually makes me feel better when I’m frightened as a kid. Would you like that?” Thunder rumbled again, prompting Flurry Heart to nod with haste. With a smile, Sombra then sits Flurry down on his lap so that way she won’t hold on to him tightly, pets her belly, and then clears his throat. “Ready?” Flurry nodded, and leaned against him with a smile. With that, Sombra counted to three with his fingers, and then he and Flurry Heart sang; “you are my sunshine… my only sunshine… . You make me happy, when skies are gray.” Thunder rumbled, and then both Flurry and Sombra continued; “you’ll never know dear, how much I love you… . So please… don’t take.. my sunshine away… .” With one last rumble, the storm clouds are then seen rolling away from the windows.
Looking back at each other, Flurry Heart smiled, and then began to hug Sombra tightly for supposedly making the scary storms go away. Chuckling, Sombra replied; “no problem Flurry. Anything for a friend.” while also petting Flurry’s back. With a yawn, Flurry Heart fell fast asleep; knowing that she’ll be safe from now on. Smiling also, Sombra then replied; “goodnight little princess… . See you in the morning… .” Sombra yawned after that, and then laid down on the couch and fell fast asleep as well; knowing that it’s night time, and that it’s getting late.
With both of them asleep, Sombra and Flurry Heart slowly drifted off to dreamland; happy that their day was going good for once! For now at least… .

Flurry Heart’s Terrible Twos
Chapter Four: A not so Great Start of the Day
Flurry Heart is patting Sombra’s head, trying to get his attention without making him angry. Unfortunately that didn’t work out, and with no other choice… , Flurry Heart then whined; “me hungwy… .”
Sombra mumbles in his sleep, and then says; “just a few more minutes… okay… ? That storm really made me miss so much sleep.” Realizing that she slept through another scary storm, Flurry Heart was both frightened, and impressed with herself. Yet, like any other toddler, she soon grew fearful that there’s another storm approaching… . And because she’s afraid of storms, Flurry Heart then whimpered, and hugged King Sombra tightly; thinking that maybe that’ll make her feel better somehow… . However, because of the tight hug, this made Sombra get up, rub the sleep from his eyes, and lastly to pick her up whilst saying; “soooo… . Since you’re clearly not gonna have me sleep no more… , what do you wanna eat?” Flurry Heart knew what she wanted to eat… , but yet she couldn’t. So with that, she shrugged.
Not wanting to have to wait any longer, King Sombra sighed, slid his palm over his face, and then asks; “you wanna see what there is to eat then? Since you can’t decide?” Flurry Heart nodded, and began sucking on one of her thumbs while holding onto him with her other hand. Smiling, yet still feeling tired, Sombra then replied; “I guess that’s settled…. . Let’s go.” Sombra then held onto Flurry Heart, got up from the couch, and then walked with her to the kitchen fridge to see what available options there are inside.
Meanwhile, in the home of Shining Armor and Cadence… .
“Whew… . What a night.” Shining Armor said while stretching out his arms. “I cannot believe that I slept through that storm… .” “I couldn’t… .” Cadence replied back; looking a little worse for wear. Noticing that she’s not looking so good, Shining Armor made a hissing noise; as if to signify his response to seeing his wife like this, and then says; “you didn’t sleep at all Cady? What happened?” Cadence then replied; “I just couldn’t sleep because of our daughter: Flurry Heart.” Shining Armor nods, and then says; “hey, tell you what… ? One more day, and then we’ll see what happens… . Okay? What do you say… ?” Cadence whimpered, knowing that she’ll probably regret the decision sooner or later, and then replied; “for now… . But if I can’t take it anymore, then we’re going to get our daughter back. I mean… ,” she trailed off. “I miss our little baby… .” Cadence then began to cry a little, feeling bad for being away from her daughter for such a long time… ; despite it being only just a few days. Shining Armor then sat next to his wife, and then replied; “tell you what. We’ll get lunch, wait a few hours… . And if you don’t miss her by then, then we’ll get her tomorrow… . Okay? What do you say?” Liking the compromise, Cadence smiled, then replied; “deal,” and hugged her husband. Shining Armor hugged her back, and then says; “only a few hours Cady. We got this… .”
Back to Sombra’s home… .
“I don’t think this is going anywhere… .” Sombra said as he’s covered in green colored baby food. Flurry Heart giggled, and then threw some more mashed peas at him. “Oh why did they suggest that to be her favorite food… ?” Sombra thought to himself. “I mean honestly; if I could think of one good choice of baby food to be her favorite, then I’d say that it’d be mashed apples… I think… . I don’t know… .” Flurry Heart then threw some more mashed peas everywhere, before whimpering and clutching her belly; knowing that she’s still hungry. Realizing just now what she did, Flurry Heart looked sad, then said to Sombra; “sowwy… ,” while rubbing her growling belly. Sighing, Sombra replied; “it’s not your fault,” and then sat down on the floor in utter defeat. Still feeling bad, Flurry Heart asked; “me have baba… ? Pwease… ? Me be good dis time.” Sombra sighs, then says; “I hope so kid… . Cuz I have no honest clue as to how your parents even manage to handle you without getting exhausted all the time… . Well… , most of the time anyways… .” Flurry Heart then looked down all sad, whined, and then said; “me bad… .” Sombra sighs again, chuckles, then says; “you may be… . But so what right? You’re only going through a phase is all. Right?” “Goo?” is all Flurry Heart could respond with while looking confused at Sombra. Chuckling, Sombra says; “I’ll explain later… ,” and gets up from the floor. “So,” he clapped. “You wanted a bottle?” Flurry Heart nodded, but then looked everywhere on the floor. Realizing this, Sombra replied; “I’ll clean you and everything up later, okay? One thing at a time.” Knowing what that meant, Flurry Heart nodded, then made grabby hands so she can be carried. Smiling, Sombra replied with; “you sure are trouble… ,” and picked up Flurry Heart from the counter. Giggling, Flurry Heart replied back; “me bad ba, hahaha… .” Sombra snickers, then returned with; “indeed you are,” and tickles Flurry Heart’s chest causing her to giggle. He would’ve tickled Flurry’s tummy, but didn’t wanna make her feel bad due to an empty tummy. So he chose the latter. And with that, they’re off… .

Chapter Five: Broken Promises
It’s not even pickup time for Flurry Heart from Sombra’s home, and Cadence looks like that she’s about to lose it; which I’m sure first time parents will know the feeling of… . But for now, here’s the chapter… .
Cadence is trying her best to calm down by taking in deep breaths. Unfortunately, due to her being stressed and all, she’s doing so like as if she’s hyperventilating… . Oh wait, she is!
“I, can’t, take it, any, longer!” Cadence said through hyperventilating breaths. “Take it easy,” Shining Armor began. “One more hour, okay? One, more, hour… . You can do this! I believe in you!” Shining continued, trying to sound determined and motivating. Realizing that her husband’s got a point, Cadence gave a determined look, and shouts; “you’re right!” and gets up since she was kneeling down when she was hyperventilating. Shining Armor said; “that’s the spirit!” and then picks up his wife to spin her around; causing Cadence to cheer for herself, and laugh at the same time.
Meanwhile, in the bathroom of Sombra’s home… .
“I give up…”, Sombra says while sitting down on a soaked and suds covered bathroom floor. “You’re just too much Flurry Heart… . I need a break. Phew … .” Sombra then passed out. Flurry Heart just laughed and clapped her hands together, causing the water that’s still in her hands to splash everywhere. She then tried to walk, but stopped because there’s bath water everywhere. Whimpering; afraid that she might slip, Flurry Heart then got on all fours, and crawled to Sombra without touching any suds or water so that way she’ll be safe. Unfortunately, she slipped. Luckily for her, she hit her chin on the towel; which cushioned her fall. Bad news? She’s still felt hurt because she hit her tummy. The water that’s on the floor where she slipped partially cushioned her fall, but she still whimpered because she felt wet because of it. And not to mention that it was emphasize on the “partially” part.
“Me huwrt…”, Flurry Heart whimpered while crawling onto the towel that Sombra laid out for her. Well technically she was wrapped in the towel, but escaped and ran away; trying to avoid being dried up, and of course; getting water and suds everywhere onto the bathroom floor. That’s all.
Sombra sighs, wraps her in the laid out towel, and then says to Flurry Heart; “aand this is why we dry ourselves after we shower, or bathe. Understand?” Flurry Heart nodded, and then gave out a sad face; indicating that she was sorry. Chuckling, Sombra replied; “I’m sure you’re fine”, and pets the back of Flurry’s head; causing her to smile. Sombra then asked; “ready to go?” Flurry nodded, and then smiled again. Sombra then got up, and left. But not before Flurry tugged on his shirt and pointed to the still wet and messy bathroom. Sombra sighs, looks to Flurry Heart, and then says; “I’ll clean it up tomorrow. Besides… , what’s the worst that can happen?” And as if on cue, the entire bathroom broke apart and collapsed on the inside. Realizing that his bathroom’s busted due to water damage; (quote unquote), Sombra then said; “aw shucks… ,” and then sat down on the ground in disbelief.
Thinking that it’s her fault the bathroom is broken, Flurry Heart started to cry. But not before having a pacifier to her mouth, and then looking up at King Sombra whom told her; “I wouldn’t worry about it. Stuff happens, hehe.” Flurry Heart laughed too, but then groans in pain because her tummy’s hurting from the slip. Sighing, Sombra then said; “I can fix that”, and walked with Flurry Heart to get her some tummy rub medicine to help her tummy feel better. Flurry Heart winced cuz of the smell, but also felt glad because she can feel her pain going away. Knowing that she’s feeling better, Flurry Heart then tried to lean in for a hug, but was stopped afterwards, and was told by King Sombra; “maybe wait till the medicine wears off. Okay bub?” Flurry Heart nodded; “owkay”, and then began sucking on her thumb. Sombra then asked; “so, what do you wanna do now?” Flurry Heart was about to answer, but then started to whimper and look down as she doesn’t like feeling clothes less. With that, Sombra said; “let’s get you dressed”, and then picked up Flurry Heart once more to get her dressed.
Few minutes till pickup time… .
“Oohoo I can’t wait!” Cadence said while riding with Shining Armor to King Sombra’s house. “I can’t wait to see our daughter again! I miss her so much!” Shining chuckled; thinking it was funny to see his wife so excited, turns to her and says; “I think that Flurry will be glad to see you too honey… . Just take it easy.” Cadence did as she was told, and began to take deep breaths to calm herself down. After that, Cadence then said; “okay honey, I’m calm… .”
Back at the house… .
“Alright, you ready?” Sombra said as he’s finishing fixing Flurry’s skirt so that way it wouldn’t be wrinkled. “Yes baba”, Flurry said while looking at her outfit.
*ding dong*
“Aand they’re here”, Sombra said, as if expecting it. Flurry Heart followed Sombra afterward to greet her parents, but then stopped and knelt down. Seeing this, Sombra asked; “what’s wrong?” and knelt down to Flurry Heart’s level. Feeling bad, Flurry Heart looked up, and said; “poopy… .” Realizing this, Sombra said; “wait, now? You have to go now?!” Flurry Heart nodded, and whimpered, trying to hold it in. Sombra hyperventilated a little bit, but then said; “let’s get this taken care of… .” and then rushed Flurry Heart to the restroom, or what’s left of it.
Cadence and Shining Armor are outside, when Cadence asked; “what’s taking them so long? I’m anxious… !” And as if on cue again, there was a crash noise. Fearing the worst, the couple bursted into the house, and went to where the noise was. Seeing that Sombra and their daughter were alright, they were both about to ask questions, when suddenly they saw what caused the commotion. Chuckling nervously, Sombra said; “welcome back… , hehehe… .” and then a bathroom ceiling tile dropped down and broke on contact on the bathroom floor.

Prologue: The Never Ending Pile of Paper
Cadence and Shining Armor are currently trying their hardest to do their jobs as quick as they could so that way they can pick up their daughter from daycare, and maybe hopefully drop her off at King Sombra’s house. Reason is because a: Flurry Heart is currently in her terrible twos phase, and that if Flurry Heart were to get angry somehow, then her anger will get a lot more worse before it could pass. And as for b: they really wanted to spend some time with their daughter after their work is finished; that way they can hopefully rest easy for when they’re at home finally… . However; it’s not going so well… . And here’s why… .
“Shining?” Cadence yelled from afar. “Did you do that paperwork that I assigned to you?”
Shining Armor yelled back from afar as well; “not yet! The printer is busted!”
“What?!” shouted Cadence in disbelief.
The reason as to why they’re yelling at each other like this is simple; they’re in different rooms, and that the hallway is long and far… . Meaning that the rooms that both of them are in are far apart from each other because hallways are notoriously long… . Maybe even long enough to be considered a tunnel of sorts.
“Grrrr! Just forget it! I’ll do it tomorrow! Grr!” Cadence is currently frustrated at her lack of progress; due to the fact that her paperwork is a little tough to do since there’s so many of them to work on… . And as for Shining Armor’s paperwork; he didn’t even get started because he had to print something for reference first.
So due to that; Shining Armor said; “forget it!” and then promptly threw his entire work in the trashcan before deciding to just pick up the slack tomorrow too.
After the two took their frustrations out on their work, both calmed down and decided to meet each other in the faculty lounge to discuss on what they’re gonna do for when they pick up Flurry Heart and get home; since after all their daughter is two years old still, and surprisingly hasn’t had a major outburst like that for when she first turned that age. But since she’s almost three, and or that Flurry Heart is two and a half years old now, she’s starting to get cranky, and even more despondent because of it. I mean after all; growing up is literally hard to do, no matter how old you are.
After some light chatter, and some coffee to keep themselves straight, Shining Armor and Cadence met each other at the front door, and braced themselves on what’s to come.
“Ready?” Cadence asked while looking towards her husband.
“Let’s do this…” Shining Armor said before both turned to open the front door: bracing themselves for the sheer scale of a terrible day that they’re gonna have once they arrive at the daycare to pick up their daughter… . Only time will tell if it’ll get better… .
