Go Away Neighbor

Pinkie was busy working away at Sugar Cube Corner, Twilight's coronation had come and gone and she was still adjusting to the fact that Twilight wasn't going to be visiting as often as she use to. Pinkie had decided, as had most of her friends, to bury herself in her work for a while until she could really get used to the idea of not seeing Twilight.

It was the middle of the workday, and so far it had been fairly typical, same old faces, same old orders, She had some orders done before they were even ordered at times.

Then without warning, everything changed as the bell rang to indicate someone had entered the establishment, and along with it came a sudden chill, Pinkie shivered as the temperature in the restaurant dropped so low she could suddenly see her own breath. Pinkie turned to the door and froze when she saw a light blue Unicorn mare walking in. Her mane and tail were long and white, Her Cutie mark was a cracked heart with a snowflake in its center that was surrounded by a white swirl. Her eyes were a shade of blue that was so light they almost looked white. She walked to the Counter, looking absolutely livid as she approached the counter, she looked at Pinkie and set three bits on the counter without even looking at the menu.

"I want an eclair," She said simply, her tone sounding irritated, as though Pinkie had somehow offended her for existing.

"Well hello!" Pinkie said merrily, The Mare flinched, as though Pinkie's happy tone had physically hurt her. "I've never seen you before," Pinkie sunk under the counter and popped back up next to the mare, and began shaking her hoof, The Mare instantly slunk out of Pinkie's iron-clad grasp and stepped away from her. This did nothing to deter Pinkie in the slightest.

"My name is Pinkie Pie, Who are you," The Mare was shaking the hoof Pinkie had grabbed as though it was wet.

"My name is Icy Winds, and I'd like my eclair so I can leave," Without hesitation, Pinkie pulled her hoof up and gave Icy her eclair, She lit her horn and her food disappeared from sight.

"So," Pinkie said as Icy turned around and walked to the door "You visiting, passing through, New resident?" Icy chose the fourth option and ignored Pinkie. Pinkie continued asking Questions and Icy seemed content to ignore Pinkie until Pinkie followed her outside.

"Could you not?" Icy asked.

"Not what?" Pinkie asked merrily.

"Follow me," Icy clarified as she continued walking.

"Don't be silly, how can I become your best friend in the world if I don't get to know you?" Icy looked back at Pinkie, who gave her a wide smile, Icy irritated face somehow looked even sourer than it has before.

"Yeah, no," Icy decided as she lit her horn and in a flash, she was gone, as soon as she disappeared the cold feeling in the air also disappeared with her. Pinkie stopped and squinted.

"Touché Icy winds, Touché," Pinkie frowned and she stood proudly "But here this and know, I will find you, I will talk to you, and I shall befriend you!" Pinkie stared seriously at the sky before smiling, "But first I have to finish my shift," Pinkie bounded back to work with a happy skip.

It was late in the day when Pinkie left her workplace and began her hunt for Icy Winds, she began her search by asking the local shopkeepers if they had seen anypony matching her description when that failed she moved to more specific stores, then to general locations, then random ponies on the street before finishing with Sweet Apple Acres.

"Sorry Sugarcube," Applejack said as she waved Pinkie farewell "You could ask Big Mac, he's in town running the apple cart today,"

"I already tried that," Pinkie said as she bounded back up the path toward Ponyville, "Where else could I look?" Pinkie scratched her chin but then slowly came to a stop when she noticed something was slightly off about Ponyville, the shape of the town's skyline was burned into Pinkie's memory, and she instantly noticed one shape that had not previously been a part of it.

"Hey," She realized with a smile "They finished that construction project, that thing's been going on since before Twilight moved to Ponyville!" Pinkie rushed to inspect Ponyville's newest edition and came to a halt, hoping the distraction would help calm her down before continuing her search mission.

It was a fair ways away from the rest of the town, with no roads or even a walkway leading up to it, it was a massive mansion of a home, and the longer Pinkie looked at it, the more wonderful it became, It was massive maybe ten floor or more, the fifth story gave it an odd look being made of what looked to be single room tower-like structures, it had a Chimney that was billowing out smoke sticking out of the 4th floor, which was connected to the 3rd floors by what looked to be a minecart rollercoaster of some kind, the 2nd and first floors looked to be mostly normal, the entire thing was painted a light gray and the roofing was a dark gray.

Pinkie skipped towards the house but stopped in her tracks when she came within 50 paces of it. As soon as she got that close the air went cold and she could see her breath. Pinkie gasped as she realized what she had just found and rushed to the mailbox, written neatly on the side was the name of the homeowner, Icy Winds.

"Oh Yeah!" Pinkie cheered as she did a little celebration dance "I found you!"

Icy Winds was sitting in her new home, it was extremely large and she had already packed it full of her belongings. She was in her living room, using magic to unpack multiple boxes of books and stuffing them without rhyme or reason into her shelves. Some looked to have never been opened, with some even wrapped in a plastic sheet, while others had been read to the point of being more akin to a pile of papers stapled together than a book, some were burnt, and others seemed to be in a perpetual state of dampness. As she did this she stared blandly at the fire she had started in her chimney and put her hooves near it, after a moment water began dripping off of her and she let out a sigh of relief as she blew on her hoof, making it cold again before putting it back near the fire and warming it up again. Suddenly without warning a loud sound made her jump and a few books dropped to the floor.

"I found you!" Pinkie cried out, making Icy's ears go flat.

"Oh sweet Father Christmas no," She groaned when she heard the echoing bang of a hoof hitting her door and lay on the floor covering her head with her hoofs.

"Oh Icy Winds, I'm here to visit," Pinkie called out happily, Icy lay on her stomach, hoping the Pink pony would just leave, after about 5 minutes she got to her hooves and walked to the door, before slamming it open and screaming at her.

"What!" She demanded, when she yelled Pinkie felt like she was being buffeted by a harshly cold wind, Pinkie blinked for a moment before smiling.

"I'm here to visit my new best friend!" Pinkie replied happily as she attempted to invite herself in, Icy shoved her hoof into Pinkie's nose and pushed her away from the inside.

"I don't do friends, and I don't like Social Calls, also everything about you makes my skin crawl, so beat it," Icy slammed the door and turned to find Pinkie standing behind her.

"Aw, but everypony wants to have friends, even just a tiny bit," Pinkie smiled happily at Icy whose gaze was as cold as ever.

"I don't," Icy replied as she lit her horn and opened the door before tossing Pinkie haphazardly outside, She managed to get to the hallway before finding Pinkie staring through one of her windows.

"There's no place to hide Icy, I know where you live now, might as well become my new bestest friend and let me love you," Icy stared blankly at Pinkie before once again lighting her horn and this time teleporting her to Sugar Cuber corner.

After taking a second to fully comprehend what had just happened Pinkie smiled "Alright, so we have a Cranky Doodle do we?" she pondered "Well I found a way to make Cranky my friend, and by Jove, I'll do the same with you Icy Winds, there is no pony I can't befriend!" Pinkie rolled her hoof, "Except for villains I guess, but that's the only loophole!" Pinkie lightly smacked her face to pump herself up before making her way back inside Sugar Cube Corner to begin planning how to befriend Icy Winds.
