Dusk was created by Celestia as a means to defeat Nightmare Moon as her inevitable return drew closer. However, Dusk was simply a pegasus, and against her better judgement, Celestia still let him grow. However, she eventually came to terms with understanding that he would not be able to defeat Nightmare Moon without magic. Celestia set to destroy Dusk to erase any trace of his creation, but in the moment he was to be destroyed, he activated his special talent: the ability to draw upon UD, a substance left behind on a magic user's horn after activating magic, and allow himself to cast magic. Unbeknownst to Celestia that he had been teleported to the outskirts of Canterlot, he meets two orphans as he begins his journey to find new purpose, a journey that would lead him to travel to faraway lands, meet many species and characters, and eventually, find his connection to a certain pony in a town called Ponyville.
