Chapters Rainbow Dash and The Diamond Dog Crown
Rainbow Dash opened her eyes,only to shut them quickly in pain.She opened her eyes a peep and found she was staring at an alabaster white ceiling.She opened her eyes fully and blinked repeatedly to get the spots out of her vision.She raised her head and looked around her,seeing a monitor with a line running across it,spiking every few seconds or so.Raising up on her left fore hoof,she became aware of an explosion of pain in her left wing and fell back down on the bed with a sharp breath.
Why am i in a..Hospital? She figured that was where she was lying at present and turned gently on her fore hoof to look around,taking care not to graze her wing.She was lying in a bed with white cotton sheets and a feather pillow in a wide blue tiled room.She looked at the unoccupied bed to her left and wondered what had happened to her wing.
Just then,a unicorn with a white lab coat came trotting in to her room.His face lit up as he saw that she was awake at last after her sustained injury.She studied him as he walked closer.He was a light shade of brown,wearing a pair of glasses and a stethoscope.
"Good morning miss..." A look of confusion came over his face as he tried to remember the mare's name.
Rainbow Dash took a breath to set him straight,then realized her mind had drawn a blank as well.What was her name?
She looked at the still smiling doctor as panic started to overtake her.Who was she?Where was she?She tried to hobble of the bed and bolt away,but the doctor set her back down again.
"What is the problem?"He asked,suddenly concerned about her well being.He saw the look of fear and panic in her eyes and became worried about her state of mind."is everything okay?"
"how long have i been here doc..."She said,her mind reeling with questions,dreading the answers to come.She hoped only an hour or two,but who knew?
"Well miss!Let me just check your chart.."He walked around to the end of the bed and picked up the chart."Well miss Dash,"he said smiling that he knew her name now,"You've been here..."He looked at her strangely.
"Four days!"

Rainbow Dash kicked at a loose pebble on the ground as she walked down the path to the library,looking like she didn't have a care in the world,but her mind had other ideas.She had overheard a pegasus while visiting a friend in Cloudsdale that the latest Daring Do book had come out a few days prior.She was dying to borrow it from Twilight and begin her Daring Do-athon with popcorn and soda and a flashlight under her blanket to knock this book out of the park.
She arrived at the library,taking in the giant tree it was built into,with its towering branches and windows from Twilight's bedroom.She pushed the door open with a forehoof and stepped inside.It never ceased to amaze her how many books could fit in this room.
Egg-heads can't get enough of books to satisfy themselves ,She thought as she looked around for the lavender mare.
"Twi?"She called loudly.No answer.
"Um,i was just wondering if uh,i could borrow the..latest Daring Do book that just came out?"She said with a little falter in her voice,for she still didn't like to admit to some ponies that she liked to read.I mean,come on!A world class athlete who like READING?
Just then she heard a plop ,then SMASH .She jumped at the sound of glass shattering on the floor,running up the stairs at a full gallop.She burst in to find Twilight frustrated and cleaning up a broken ink pot and quills scattered on the floor.
"Uh,hey Twi."She said as she remembered she hadn't knocked and who knows what she could have walked in on?She shuddered at the thought and backed out into the hall in front of her door politely.
"Hello Rainbow!" she said as her eyes brightened at the sight of her close friend."How's it going?"
"I just came to borrow the latest Daring Do book."
"Oh! I was just about to shelve it,but it works all the same if i lend it to you!"She handed her the book and returned to dabbing the ink sinking into her carpet with a wet rag encased in a purple aura.Twilight showed off her skill without even knowing that she was showing off!She used her magic almost all the time,probably a habit more than a show off.
"Thanks Twi!"She smiled as she turned around to clomp down the wooden staircase.Standing in the door way with a black-grey mane and her trade mark hard hat stood Daring Do looking up at her with a smile.
"Name's Daring Do,miss! Is this the information center?"

Rainbow Dash's jaw went slack,mouth hanging open.Her brain was trying to process what she was seeing.It failed to compute.Standing in front of her was her idol,her saviour from boring nights at home with nothing to do but read about her adventures.
"Hmm,seems like your a bit confu-"She stopped as she noticed the book sticking out of Rainbow's saddle bag.Rainbow Dash blushed for an unknown reason.
"now i know why your more than a bit shocked to see me as i am.And before you say anything,im looking for a Daring assistant to help me on an adventure."She smiled at her own joke and looked expectantly at Rainbow,as if she would point out the path to someone who was up for it.
"Um,uh..um,I.."She could only stutter as her reality sank in. Daring Do was standing in front of her. And wanting an assisstant! She instantly took an offensive stance and put on her tough mare face.She stood up tall and started her tough-guy speech.
"Well then miss Do!You have a treat waiting for you at the end of the rainbow."She flicked her rainbow-hewed tail and laughed at her own joke and continued.
"I am the best,BEST athlete in Equestria!No offense,but if your looking for an assistant you've come to the right place!"She flexed her wings to prove her point and hovered off the ground a few feet.
Do looked at her strangely as if something was nagging at the back of her mind about this brave pegasus,who reminded her much of herself.She looked the pegasus over and found that she had the much needed bravery and courage she had as a young filly.
"you've got the style and the strength,ill give you that,but so you have what it takes to survive in the desert for weeks on end with little to no water and food?"
Dash couldn't believe that the opportunity just presented itself to her to join her idol in her adventures and become an adventuring legend.She reached out and placed a forehoof on Daring's hat to make sure she was actually here and she was not hallucinating.How could she say no?
"Well,"She said as if she didn't have a choice."i guess i might be able to come with you,if my schedule is clear."Her mind was bursting at the seams at the choice she was making.
"My name is Rainbow Dash,by the way!"
She stuck her hoof out for a hoofshake which rainbow took gladly.
"Welcome aboard Rainbow Dash!"

Rainbow Dash was flying along a path in Ponyville with Do when she heard it.A high-pitched scream coming from up ahead and off to the right.
Do's and Dash's eyebrows raised in unison as they both spoke silently to each other.Time to investigate. They took off through the air towards the sound,dogding screaming pegasi as they flew towards the noise.When at last they came upon the place where the scream originated they flinched back,shielding their eyes as a giant horde of cockatrice ran amuck in the streets,turning random ponies into stone statues as they ran wild through Ponyville.
"Dash!"Rainbow assumed it was Do but appeared to be Twilight,teleporting behind random cockatrice and shooting them back into the forrest with a loud zing! Dash saw that Pinkie and Fluttershy had been frozen in stone,and that made her tremble in fear,then with rage.

What happened during the cockatrice outbreak can't be described in words except these.I saw Dash bullet into the sky,like she was afraid of the cockatrice.It looked like i was all alone as i slipped off my hat and fired into the crowd of them,bouncing off of them like a pinball machine.I retrieved my hat and aimed another shot,but before i could fire it off once again,a blur shot straight down from the sky and smashed into the group of animals with a giant explosion of a...rainbow?There was a giant ring of rainbow colored light as the blur broke the sound barrier.A slightly dazed Rainbow Dash stood with a broken wing in a midst of cockatrice carcasses and shattered stone pony statues returned to their former selves. Dash looked at me and gave me a broad smile.This girl had guts.Then she became aware of the pain in her wing and promptly passed out.
