Ash woke up the next morning feeling a headache coming on, he groaned and tried soothing the pain by rubbing at his temple. He hopped out of bed and went to his bathroom to take a good long shower, because what doesn’t feel better then a nice, hot, long shower.

As he was about to step into the shower, there was a knocking at his door. He groaned and opened the door to see Gold Streak and Steel Wind with excited faces. Ash stared at them questioningly “What’s got you guys so excited?”

Both of them shouted excited “Today’s Nightmare Night!”

Ash looked at them with a weird expression “The heck is that?”

Steel looked like he just went through a whole bag of sugar, by himself. “Wait, no that’s Pinkie Pie.”

“It’s a night wear you dress and get free candy.” Now, that description sounded real familiar.

Ash snapped his fingers “Oh! So it’s like Halloween.” Now they looked at me like I was the weird one. He waved off their expressions “Anyways, what about it?”

Steel Wind flew up and wrapped an arm around Ash “Well, Princess Luna is heading down to Ponyville for tonight and she wants you to join her, and for you she said you could bring two friends.”

Ash stared at both of them “So, you want me to take you two? I don’t know, maybe I should bring Cookie Dough and Cosmo Wave with me, they might enjoy coming with me.”

Gold Steak pouted “You’re mean dude.”

Ash laughed “I can be evil if I want to be. But sure you two can come with me but you’d have to tell the Captain about it first.” Both of them nodded and were started running down the hall to the captain’s office. Ash shook his head with a smile and closed his door, he then realized he left the shower on, “Shit!”

Ash wanted to go their early, to Lina’s understanding, to see Twilight and their friends. It’s been awhile since he’s seen them. Ash saw Twilight walking with Spike and Rarity, so he called out to them “Twilight!” She turned around to see who called her name and lit up when she it was Ash.

“Ash!” She ran towards him and gave him a huge hug “It’s been awhile hasn’t it?” Ash smiled nodded.

“How are the others doing?”

Rarity and Spike caught up with Twilight and both gave him the same exact greeting.

“And who are these two young stallions?” I turned to see my friends she was gesturing to.

“Oh, those are some of my friends I’ve made when I was in the guard. This is Gold Streak and Steel Wind”, when their names were called they raised their hands. The three of them greeted them and introduced themselves. “Oh and perfect that we ran into Rarity, you see we need costumes for Nightmare Night.” She gasped in excitement, grabbed Ash’s hand and began to drag him to her boutique. Their friends not to far behind them.

Ash was currently on a posing stand with only his boxers on because Rarity was taking his measurements. She would make a comment every now and then upsetting Spike for a reason Ash didn’t know of. Ash then decided to call him out on it “You okay Spike, did you have a bad day today?” Spike’s eyes widened and he shook his head. Twilight had a smirk on her face and was laughing lightly.

About five minutes later Rarity yelled ‘done!’ She turned to Ash “Do you have any preferences?” Ash decided to make it easy on the the both of them.

“Just a vampire”, she turned to Gold Streak and Steel Wind, telling them they’re next. Steel Wind went first and during his measurements Ash turned to see Spike with the same maybe even deeper scowl, “Spike, you sure you’re okay?” Spiked faced him and only nodded and turned back to watch the measurements. Ash looked at Rarity and Gold Streak, then to Spike. The motion continued for about six minutes before Ash blurted out “*Gasp* You like-!” Spike slapped his claws on Ash’s mouth with a massive blush. The others stared wide eyed at his outburst.

”Wow, how surprising, a boy figured out about a crush.”

”Boys aren’t hat bad when it comes to-“ Kira quickly cut him off.

”Oh, trust me, they are. Ever heard of a kid named Adrien Agreste?”

The two continued to squabble until Steel Wind was done with his measurements.

They all said good bye to Rarity as she began working on the costumes. And good bye to Twilight and Spike as they still had to continue some chores. Steel Wind turned to him “So, what was that outburst about?”

Ash turned his head and looked back at Spike. “Oh, it was nothing, I thought I felt a spider on me, but I guess I was just imagining things.” Steel seemed content with the answer and didn’t press on it any further, Ash then remembered something “But Gold Streak,” the unicorn in question turned his head “What was with you and Twilight?”

Gold Streak blushed “It, was nothing, all we were doing was talking. That’s all.”

Steel Wind elbowed him “But it sounded like there was a bit of teasing added into the mix, soon Gold Streak and Twilight are gonna be dating.” Gold Streak slapped a hand on his head telling Steel to shut up.

Ash then asked with mischievous smirk “Is that why you wanted to come with me? So you could see Twilight?” Gold Streak turned away with puffed out cheeks. “Twilight is the reason you wanted to come.” Ash saw he was getting too embarrassed “Hey, dude, look at me.” Gold Streak turned to him and Ash knelt down on one knee “It’s great that you like her, and don’t let our teasing change your mind. There’s nothing to be embarrassed about being in love. It’s a natural thing, just, don’t make it weird, got it?” Gold happily smiled and gave him a thanks.

Steel Wind looked at Ash with a slightly opened mouth “Wow, where did that insight come from?”

Ash shook his head “Too many romance novels and movies from my sister and mom. And some of my sister’s boyfriends poems I accidentally came across. I still wish me and my brother could give him an overprotective brother beat down about it.” They all shared a laugh at the memory.

As they were heading down a dirt road Ash hurt the sound of girls fighting. He turned his head to see little girls fighting and three fillies being the ones ridiculed. He turned and made his way towards them. Ash could hear the pink filly saying something about a blank flank.

Ash stopped to the side of them “What’s going on here?” The ponies turn their attention to him and two of them cower at the height of him.

A grey pony spoke with a shakey voice “W-W are y-you?”

Ash answered simply “My name’s Ash and I heard the sound of bullying over hear. So, what seems to be the problem?”

A small yellow pony with red hair in a ponytail stepped up “Them two were makin fun of us cause mah friends and I don’t have our cutiemarks yet.”

Ash knelt down and spoke in a fatherly tone and turned to the two ponies “Now, just because someone is different doesn’t mean you have to make fun of them.”

The grey filly with white hair spoke in a mocking voice “They’re talentless, so why shouldn’t we make fun of them.”

“Well, there’s probably plenty of fillies and colts that don’t have a cutiemark and that doesn’t make you two any different. Both of you didn’t have a cutiemark once.”

The pink pony scoffed and walked away saying ‘whatever’ with her friend behind her.

When the two ponies were away the other three gave a Ash a group hug. “Thank you mister, you didn’t have to do that.”

Ash shook his head “No, one should be bullied just for different from the rest. So, what are y’all’s names?”

The yellow pony let go of the hug “Mah name is Appleboom!”

“I’m Scootaloo,” said an orange pegasus with purple hair.

“And my name is Sweetiebelle!”

Ash greeted them and introduced himself, Applebloom then asked “Aren’t you that one pony my sister was talkin’ about?”

Ash nods and corrects her, saying he’s a human, not a pony. Though, now that Ash has taken a closer look he asks “Are you Applejack’s sister?” She hums in confirmation and turns to Sweetiebelle “And you’re Rarity’s?” Sweetiebelle nods. Ash then asks how they doing to which they say busy but great.

Gold Streak and Steel Wind run up to him. “Dude, you were walking next to us and then you were gone, where’d you go?” Gold Streak huffed out of breath. Ash gestured to the fillies and told them what happened.

Steel Wind wrapped his arm around Ash’s shoulders “How, many times are you gonna defend people? First he princess and now three kids. What’s next? A whole village?”

The girls gasped “You know the princess?”

Steel laughed “Yeah, dude’s close friends with them and he’s in the guard. And word gets around that the Captain has a soft spot for you for someone reason.” Ash only shoved him away.

Applebloom cut in “Anyways, thank you but we have to get back home.” Ash nodded and yelled at them to stay safe as they ran back home.

Gold Streak laughed “Great with kids and you’re compassionate and honest. Dude, how have you’ve not gotten a marefriend yet?”

Nightmare Night has finally begun and ponies were going from door to door asking for candy. Spike was dressed up as a dragon, Pinkie was dressed up as a chicken and Twilight was dressed up as some wizard. Steel Wind dressed up as a werewolf and Gold Streak was dressed up as a normal guard, just with different armor. Not very creative if you ask Ash but hey whatever floats his boat.

Ash was just walking around and having fun with his friends when a large carriage was coming down from the sky. The pony figure was wearing a dark cloak which was soon taken off to reveal Luna. When the cloak was taken off ponies were on the ground shaking with fear. I didn’t mind them and ran over to Luna “Luna, hey!” Luna lightened up when she saw me and gave me a hug.

“Ash, it’s great to see you again! How are you?”

Gold Streak stepped up “Well, in the span of when he walked away from me and Steel for like ten minutes, he’s already ending fights.” Luna asked what happened, to which Ash told them about what happened between the fillies. Luna congratulated him in approval of going about the situation.

Ash wondered why it was so quiet so he turned around to see everyone ran off. This sight saddened Luna. She wished ponies would like her as much as her sister.

Ash snapped his fingers coming up with an idea. And luckily Twilight didn’t run away like the others. Ash talked to Twilight about how they could try and get the ponies to be less afraid of Luna. The others gladly agreed to help.

Snip and Snails were walking through the Everfree Forest with determination and fear. Snip turned to Snails “Are you sure this is a good idea?”

Snails turned to his friend “Think about it, this can make Nightmare Night more exciting, think about the fun things with this plan!”

Snip thought for a second “We can use it as part of our costume to get a lot of candy!” Snails and Snips shared a high five.

So far, their plan was working and more ponies were approaching the princess much to her delight. Ash had his index finger and thumb on his chin in thought, he then turned to Luna “Hey Lulu, have you ever heard of the Northern Lights?”

As Luna’s horn started to glow Ash yelled to get everyone’s attention.

They turned their heads to him and he pointed his finger to the sky to a show a beautiful aurora borealis in the sky leaving everyone awestruck. Ash walked over to Luna and whispered “Would you look at that.” Luna felt a great amount of glee fill up in her chest, she turned and tackled Ash in a Bear hug.

“Thank you Ash.”

Ash rubbed her back “It wasn’t just me, the others helped too.”

They both stayed in that embrace, but they both broke apart when they heard an earth shattering roar, and two colts running through the town. Ash ran up to the two “What’s going on?”

Both of them were shaking “It’s an Ursa Major!” They both then ran off with shrieks and screams.

Ash then muttered while turning around “The fuck is an Ursa- Holy Shit what is that?!” Ash turned around fully to see a cosmic Bear that was as tall as the town hall tower. “That’s an Ursa Major?! And those kids brought it here?! Why!”

”It’s time to put those powers to good use kid! This is what you trained for.”

Ash took action and yelled for everyone to stay as far away from it as possible, he then turned to Twilight “Write a message to Celestia and tell her we’ll need backup!” She nodded and headed to go write it down while also going to search for Spike.

Ash then turned and ran to the town hall tower. Gold Streak looked at him like he was insane but soon followed after him. Steel Wind doing the same. Luna flew off to make sure everypony was out of harms way. While Ash was climbing up the stairs to get to the top Steel Wind flew next to him “Alright so what’s the plan? You got to have some plan right?”

Ash answered without batting him an eye “We fight the thing off and try and keep it away from everyone.”

All three of them made it to the top and saw the giant cosmic Bear tearing off a straw roof.

Ash stored up energy from within and shot it out from his right palm, out came a bolt of lightning that hit the major square on the back making it give a roar of pain. Steel Wind looked at him with surprise “You have magic!?”

Ash shot another bolt of lightning but this time on the bear’s shoulder blade “Fight now talk later! Gold you think you can freeze it’s movements somehow?” Gold Streak nodded and lit up his horn, it worked but it took up a lot of his energy.

Steel Wind saw that Gold had a sword sheath and took out the sword inside to see it be a real sword “You brought a real sword to Nightmare Night?” Huh, I guess the costume isn’t completely weird.

Steel took the opportunity and took a swing at the bear, he landed a hit on its forearm leaving a large cut, but the cut soon healed itself.

Ash only sighed, ”Great, it’s one of those monsters, meaning we need to go for magical attacks.” Ash then yelled to Steel Wind “Steel, get back over here!” Right as heard me finish the Ursa Major landed a hit on him, sending him flying into a building wall. “STEEL!!”

Celestia was currently signing papers when a scroll appeared in front of her:

Dear Princess Celestia,

Ponyville is currently being attacked by an Ursa Major. Ash asked of me to send this letter to you so you may send help. Ash and his friends are currently fighting the Ursa Major to keep it at bay. Please come as quick as you can.

The news made her freeze in fear. Ash is fighting an Ursa Major?! He’ll get himself killed!

Celestia quickly got up from her seat and ran to Captain Shining Armor at rapid speed. The guards and maids were curious and worried to know what had their calm and collected Princess so hasty.

Ash summoned a fireball and directed at its head. The Bear swatted it away but still burned itself in the process. Ash was charging up another electrical attack but the monster took the opening and crashed its claws into Ash leaving a huge gash on his chest as well as crashing him into a wall. Gold Streak ran up to him with worry and horror “Ash!” Gold Streak stumbled when he saw the gash “Sweet Celestia!”

Ash gripped his chest in grave pain, but stood up anyway. Gold Streak grabbed his should halting him to a stop “Ash, stop, you have to have that healed, you can’t go back out there. If you do it’s suicide!”

Ash grunted “I have to protect these ponies from harm.”

Gold Streak shook his head “But that doesn’t mean killing yourself!”

Ash snapped his fingers and the would was covered with bandages and jokingly said “Tell my story Gold.” And ran off back to fight it.

Gold yelled in outrage “Ash! This isn’t funny, come back!’ Ash was already sending fireballs at the monster and thunderbolts.

Ash coursed up more energy but this time shot ice down at the bears lower feet freezing them on the spot. Ash backed up and coursed power through his whole being and shot a massive beam at the bears chest leaving a giant hole in its wake. The Bear collapsed and grabbed its chest in pain. At that moment Ash slumped down to his knees in exhaustion and pain.

Gold Streak ran over to him while Steel Wind lousily flew to him with Luna who had a great amount of concern on her face. “The other ponies are safe except one, and that one is laying right in front of me. If I can remember, you said humans didn’t have any magic.” Ash only groaned and grunted.

As Luna was carrying Ash away there was a large thumping coming from behind them. They turned around and saw an even larger Ursa Major, Ash had enough energy to say “What is that? An Ursa Colossal?”

Luna shook her head “That’s an Ursa Major.”

The creature walked to the smaller one and sniffed it.

Ash shook his head “Don’t tell me that…?” The real Ursa Major let out a loud and enraged roar. The Bear went to land a killing blow on the group but Luna quickly teleported them away just in time.

Gold Streak looked to Luna “What do we do now Princess?”

“The smart thing to do is wait for-“

Ash interrupted her “We go for the star on its forehead, when I was fighting the smaller one, it would always look more affected when the Star would get hit.”

Luna turned to face Ash “We need to wait for Tia! We’ll be better with numbers!”

“That thing could seriously hurt someone or worse, it needs to be dealt with now!”

The two continued to argue until Steel Wind yelled “Now, isn’t the time to fight with each other!!”

Ash nodded “I agree, so I’m going to stop it from hurting anyone while you guys can stay here and wait.”

He ran off before they could retort, the only thing Ash could hear were the fading shouts as he ran farther and farther away.

Luna huffed “That is the second most stubborn creature I’ve ever met.”

Ash continued to dodge each of the creatures attacks and landed a few of his own. He was welling up more energy for an ice attack when he didn’t see a surprise attack coming to hit him. But before he could feel the pain of the blow he felt himself being shoved out of the way. He turned to see it was Celestia who took his place. And for Ash, time slowed.

Celestia was hit instead.

Ash ran over and quickly picked up Celestia and carried her somewhere safe. He gently set her down on the ground and he tried thinking of something else other than Celestia’s blood dripping and falling to the ground. She was gasping for air and Ash knew he quickly had to do something.

There was a new feeling he felt and it warmed and burned him. He leaned closer to her and placed his forehead on hers, being mindful of her horn, and let the energy flow through him to her. As the warmth continued her breathing became much more even. The warmth seeped into her wound, healing them.

“Celestia, are you okay?” Ash asked with worry radiating off of him.

Celestia groaned “I’ve *Grunt* been better.” Ash told her to stay where she was but she quickly grabbed his hand “Ash don’t.”

Ash was filled with a sincere feeling he couldn’t quite place. “That creature hurt you, I can’t just sit around and do nothing about it.” He set her hand back down, “But I’ll be back Sunshine.”

Ash ran out of the alley with newfound rage “Hey Bitch! Turn your fat ass around!”

The creature looked behind her and had a face of rage. The Bear let out a roar and raised its paw to strike at him, as the paw grew closer to him he didn’t move an inch. He could hear Celestia yell out to him “Ash!”

And when the paw crashed onto him, he put up his hands to stops its motion. The paw continued to push down but remembering what the creature did to Celestia, his eyes burned with fury and that emotion went to his hands. Because the fury was so strong the simple flame felt like boiling lava, burning the bears paw tremendously.

The Bear backed away from him because of the heat, but Ash took that as his opening. He formed up a large ice shard in the shape of a spear. He directed the spear at the Ursa Major’s forehead and threw it, landing a bullseye.

The Bear yelled out in agony and stumbled back, it’s energy was draining as fast as it’s life was fading.

Then, the Ursa Major dropped onto its knees and began falling forward, directly towards Ash. Ash quickly teleported to him and grabbed him before teleporting away right as the Bear finally hit the ground.

The royal guards started to take away the bears and were thankful they didn’t cause to much damage to the town, they really didn’t want to have to clean up a huge mess this late at night.

A yellow glow can be seen from the same alleyway Ash came out from. Celestia and Ash were teleported into a rather… compromising position. Celestia had her back against the wall and Ash was leaning against her with his hands before her head, making it look like he was pinning her to the wall. The both of them looked each other in the eyes with mad blushes on their faces. Celestia could feel his hot breathes hitting her face and the sweat from the battles he fought was not helping her at all. And she only just realized that she loved him, no matter how wrong it was. But she didn’t even know if he felt the same way.

Even if she wanted to stay in this position, she had to push him away so no one else would come and find them like this. She awkwardly coughed making him come back to reality. He shook his head and backed away “Sorry, I wasn’t expecting that so…”

Celestia looked at the ground “Thank you.” Ash looked at her curiously, she answered his question “For healing me, and I thought you said humans couldn’t do magic?”

Ash chuckled “You know Kori and Kira, so they’ve been teaching me how to use magic.” Celestia nodded for now but was going to ask about it later.

Luna then came into the alley and tackled Celestia “Tia! You’re okay!” Celestia hugged her sister and back smiled at Ash. Luna turned around and banged Ash on the top of his head “Damnit Ash!”, but then she embraced him in a strong hug, the hug became too strong and he was repeatedly saying ‘ow’ over and over again. Luna let go and apologized and removed his shirt, Celestia saw the bandages and slowly walked up to him and touched his chest.

“What happened?” Luna told her how he was fighting the Ursa Minor, and how it landed a strong hit on him. And Celestia gasped when she saw the claw marks. Luna lit up her horn and slowly began to heal the marks, but when she was done though she healed the wounds it still left a scar.

Captain Shining ran up to them and told them the Ursas have been disposed of. They both nodded and rounded up the royal guard.

Ash was taken back to his room and as he was lying on his bed, there was a knock on the door. “Come in.”

Celestia entered the room and Ash sat up on the bed. Celestia closed the door behind and sat down on the edge of the bed “I came to talk to you about the magic thing.”

Ash nodded “What do you want to know?”

“Well, you mentioned how you were trained to use your magic.”

Ash understood “When I came here, I met Kira and Kori in my sleep and they told me they were going to train me on how to use my powers and teach me how to summon them. But they also said I would be going through some changes. Heh, looks like I’m gonna go through magical puberty”, this got a laugh out of Celestia.

Celestia stopped laughing after a bit and asked “What kind of changes?”

“Well, my emotions and feelings would be going haywire and they said I would start to grow wings at some point. To make it easier for battle when using my powers but I don’t know how I feel about growing a completely new body part.”

Celestia moved closer “Well, no matter what changes me and Luna are going to love you all the same.”

Ash gave a soft a smile, then a small chuckle “Thanks Sunshine.” Celestia blushed at the nickname.

The both of them talked for a little while longer before Celestia wished him good a night and left. As Ash was sleeping Kira and Kori were having another private conversation.

”It’s already happening. And I have a feeling she’s going to be the key to fully unlock it.”

Kori nodded in agreement.
