The Mare of His Dreams
A Dragon’s Love
Load Full StorySpike sat on a bench, looking down at the item he held in his claws. It was a photo of Rarity, the love of his life. She looked so happy in the picture; she was smiling as bright as Celestia’s sun. He sighed as he gently ran a claw over the photo. Ever since the moment he first laid eyes on her, Spike had developed a huge crush on Rarity. He loved her style, beauty, and fabulousness, but what he loved most about her… was her sense of charming generosity.
“I wish I could tell Rarity how much I love her,” he said to himself before dropping the photo on the ground. “She’s so beautiful…”
“Spike! What are you doing?”
Spike looked up to see Twilight walking towards him, a bright smile on her face. Spike bent down and picked up the photo of Rarity before looking up and greeting the purple unicorn with a polite smile. “Hey, Twilight,” he said before letting out a sigh. “Nothing much. Just thinking about Rarity.”
Twilight chuckled and sat down next to her number one assistant, using her magic to take the photo of Rarity out of his claws. “You think about her a lot,” she said. “Do you have something important to say to her?”
“Yeah,” Spike replied, shrugging his shoulders. “I want to tell her that I love her, but I’m afraid that she won’t feel the same way as I do.”
“Oh… I see,” Twilight said, nodding her head in understanding. “It’s okay to be nervous, Spike. Almost all males are like that whenever they want to confess their true love.”
“I know,” he said, nodding. “But Rarity has been the gem of my eye ever since I first laid eyes on her.”
Twilight put a hoof on her assistant’s back. “You know, Spike,” she began, smiling a bit as an idea came to her smart unicorn brain. “I think I know how you can confess your true feelings for Rarity.”
“Really?” Spike asked, his eyes widening in surprise.
“Of course,” Twilight replied. “All you need is a quiet and peaceful location and some lovely decor to go with it! That should make it extra special.”
Spike smiled. He liked that idea, and he never thought of telling Rarity his true feelings in a special and romantic way. For once, Twilight had an excellent idea.
“You’re right, Twilight,” he said, grinning at her. “I’ll go to the flower shop and get Rarity some flowers!”
“Great!” Twilight said, smiling brightly. “And I’ll go get some lovely decor and maybe get the rest of our friends to help.”
“Except Rarity,” Spike said. “I want it to be a surprise.”
Twilight nodded. “So… everypony besides Rarity,” she said. “Got it! You go get the flowers, and we’ll help you set up. See you later!”
Spike waved to Twilight as she trotted off. Once she had left, Spike picked up the photo of Rarity and ran a claw over it, smiling confidently as he thought about just how well his confession to Rarity would go.
“See you tonight, Rarity,” he said before kissing the photo. “I love you with all my heart.”
Later that night, Spike stood behind Rarity’s Carousel Boutique while holding a bouquet of flowers in his claw. He smiled brightly as he waited for her to arrive. He hoped that she would like the setup, since most of his friends helped decorate the outside of her boutique for this special occasion.
Spike held the bouquet of flowers close to his chest, wondering where Rarity was. Suddenly, he remembered that Rarity had gone to the spa, and she almost spent all day there every time she went. He leaned against the wall of her boutique and let out a sigh, hoping that she would be here soon.
Fortunately, he didn’t have to wait anymore because he finally saw her. Rarity was walking towards him with a bright smile on her face. She looked very happy to see him, much to Spike’s surprise… and delight.
“Hello, Spike!” she greeted the dragon with a charming grin.
“Hi, Rarity,” he said. “Beautiful night we’re having, huh?”
Rarity giggled and used her magic to take the bouquet of flowers out of Spike’s grip. “Are these for me, Spikey-Wikey?” she asked.
“Yup!” he replied. “I got you your favorite flowers. They were on sale, so…”
“Oh, thank you!” Rarity wrapped her forelegs around him, hugging him tightly. “You didn’t have to, Spike…” she said. “This is so generous of you!”
“N-No problem, Rarity,” he said, laughing nervously. “Anything for you.”
“Oh, my! Spike, whatever are you wearing?”
Spike looked down at himself and blushed, remembering that he actually dressed up for the night. “It’s a tuxedo,” he replied, looking up at her. “I wanted to look… nice for this special occasion.”
“My goodness!” Rarity exclaimed, unable to keep the smile off her face. “You look so handsome! That outfit is a dazzler! Although, I think I made that…”
“Sorry,” Spike said, looking down. “I had no idea…”
“Why should you be sorry, darling?” Rarity asked.
“Because I took one of your outfits without asking.”
“Spikey-Wikey, you can take any of my outfits whenever you like.” Rarity smiled at him. “I won’t ever get mad,” she said. “I promise.”
“So… you’re not mad?” he asked, glancing up at her.
“Of course not!” she replied. “Now, if you don’t mind me asking, what’s all this? A special occasion, I presume?”
“Uh, yeah!” Spike took her hoof and led her towards the front of her boutique. “Rarity… there’s, uh, something I need to tell you,” he said, looking down.
“What is it, Spike?” she asked, one eyebrow raised.
“It would help if you, uh… saw the setup,” he replied before letting out a nervous chuckle.
Rarity gasped at what she saw. The outside of her boutique was decorated with all sorts of flowers, banners, candles, and flags. She smiled and felt happy tears well up in her eyes. The dragon had really outdone himself…
“Spike,” she began. “This is beautiful!”
“Not as beautiful as you, but I did try,” he said, smiling at the unicorn. “Now… here I go.”
Spike took a deep breath before speaking. “Rarity,” he began. “Ever since the moment I first laid eyes on you, I fell in love with the most beautiful and generous pony I ever met. You are the gem of my eye, and I hope you know how much I love you.”
Rarity was speechless after hearing what she just heard. A single tear fell from her eye, but she quickly wiped it away, instead smiling at the brave dragon and wrapping him up in her forelegs. “Oh, Spike… I know how you feel,” she said. “And I do feel the same way.”
“You do?” he asked, his eyes welling up with happy tears.
“Of course,” she replied, pulling away. “I love you too, Spikey-Wikey.”
“Oh, Rarity…”
Spike happily sighed as the love of his life finally embraced him. He closed his eyes and allowed his tears to fall down his cheeks. Rarity wiped them away and let go of him, staring deep into his eyes.
Then, in a split second, their lips met in a sweet, romantic kiss.
He did it. He finally did it.
After such a long time, Spike finally confessed his true love for Rarity, and he was glad that she felt the same way as him.
He had found his true love.
The mare of his dreams.
