Alerting all of its residents, they knew the time had come and everyone began to leave their homes. As the sun rises, a yak raises its head to the call. An earth pony, a pegasus and a unicorn have also raised their heads at the call. A swarm of parasprites looked out to the horizon. A lone griffin flies up the hill and lands as he looks out to the horizon as well. A trio of hippogriffs looked to the horizon as one took to the air and flew. The hippogriffs and many other flying animals began to take to the air and passed a giant waterfall on their way to their destination. On dry land, a herd of earth ponies and unicorns headed to the same spot as the sunlight lit up the mountain they passed by and a flock of small white birds flew in the air above them. A huge flock of pegasi was flying over a river. And a herd of deer rode through the prairies as they headed for their destination. A lone earth pony mother and her calf were walking out of their cave until they both looked to the horizon and saw a large group of Equestrian creatures heading in the same direction. Both Earth ponies hurried to join them. A colony of Breezies ran through the trees. One of them stopped and looked down to see a pack of Kirins moving below them. A group of bunnies quickly moved out of the way as three dragons were walking towards them when one dragon nearly crushed one underfoot. The sun shone with its reflection on the river before a herd of earth ponies crossed it along with some deer, yaks, bison and a few hippogriffs. As they crossed the river, a hippogriff and a griffin were riding on the back of a dragon and the birds perched on its horns. Though the dragon didn't seem to care. Finally, all the equestrian creatures reached their destination: a huge and magnificent castle with snow-white walls and towers, the tops of the towers and their roofs were purple with golden edges and details. In front of its doors were two statues of alicorns. This was Canterlot Castle, home to the royal family. Standing on the balcony overlooking the beautiful city was a magnificent alicorn mare with lavender-purple eyes, a snow-white coat, a pale rainbow-colored mane with pale glimmers of light shimmering, with a matching tail that fluttered in a non-existent breeze. It bore a mark of a scorching sun on its sides. She wore a golden tiara encrusted with a diamond-shaped amethyst, with a matching ornate necklace and horseshoes, signifying royal status. She was Celestia, the Queen of all Equestria. Approaching her was a dazzling unicorn with deep blue eyes lined with black mascara and blue eyeshadow, pristine white fur, a flawlessly dark purple mane and tail, along with a trio of blue diamonds marking both flanks. She was Rarity, the royal handmaiden and the most generous pony in all of Equestria. Gracefully, Rarity bowed with respect and smiled as she looked at Celestia. Celestia nodded and smiled back at him. At that moment, Celestia smiled when she saw a familiar face approaching from the crowd: a zebra with blue eyes and a spiral sun marking, wearing gold jewelry. It was Zecora, the wisest zebra in all of Equestria and a great friend to the royal family. Zecora nodded and smiled as she walked through the crowd and up the stairs to the balcony. When she did, she and Celestia greeted each other with a friendly hug, before turning her attention to another alicorn she was carrying something wrapped in a purple blanket, holding in her right front paw. The alicorn had blue-green eyes touched up with pale blue eyeshadow, dark blue fur, a sapphire blue mane outlined in purple that sparkled with stardust to resemble a night sky that also rippled in a non-existent breeze with a similar tail. . A dark black stain with a silver crescent moon graced its flanks. She wore a black tiara, a black necklace with a crescent moon to match the one on her sides, and ornate silver horseshoes that signified royal status. This was Princess Luna, Celestia's younger sister, who was acting as her royal advisor. Celestia and Luna caressed each other affectionately as they approached. Luna then gently removed a flap from the bundle she was holding, revealing a baby alicorn sleeping peacefully. Her fur was lavender purple and her mane had three stripes of navy blue, purple and pink. She was called Twilight Sparkle, and she was Celestia's newborn daughter. Celestia gave the filly a soft, loving kiss, causing her to wake up and open her eyes, which sparkled like amethyst stars. She looked at Zecora curiously as the zebra smiled at her; she lowered her cane gently onto the filly, who was curiously trying to touch him. Then she took a purple rattle out of her saddlebag and shook it in front of the filly, while she caught it with her hooves and laughed as she shook her new toy. Next, Zecora took out a beautiful purple gem from her saddlebag, which was in the shape of a six-pointed star, and moved it over the filly's head, who smiled at the beautiful object. Zecora then sprinkles some magic dust around the gem, creating a small golden tiara. Some of the powder touched the little filly's nose, causing her to let out a small sneeze and her horn to glow a bit of magic. Celestia and Luna couldn't help but laugh a little. Zecora then carefully lifted the filly with her right front hoof, nodding to Celestia and Luna as she headed out to the balcony. When Zecora reached the balcony, with her front hooves, she lifted the new heiress to the throne into the air for the crowd to see the Queen's newborn daughter. Everyone in the crowd cheered as the dragons raised their heads and shot fire into the air as they roared. The parasprites and breezies started blowing their trumpets and howling with joy. And the Earth ponies and yaks pounded the ground with their hooves. At that moment, a ray of sunlight shone through the clouds as they parted, and sunlight shone on Zecora and the Alicorn filly. Seeing that moment, everyone bowed to the new heiress one by one. From ponies, yaks, griffins, hippogriffs, paraspristes and even dragons. Celestia watched with pride as Zecora held her newborn daughter in the air, while everyone welcomed the future ruler of Equestria. THE ALICORN QUEEN Author's Note The legend has begun... Chapter 2: Tempest ShadowA small mouse slips in and drinks water from a puddle. Then the mouse ran, climbed on a small trunk and sniffed. Afterwards, the mouse ran down and pauses momentarily to preen and then climbs up a grass stem and scrambles up some rocks. The mouse crawls over to what looks like a pony bed and sniffs. He then climbs up a stool and finds what appears to be a bowl full of seeds, as if someone had left it there. The mouse began to feed on the seeds. Until, suddenly, a unicorn mare with dark orchid-colored fur appears from the darkness, her mane was a moderate pink with lighter edges and her eyes were a moderate opal color. What was shocking was that this unicorn had a broken horn, was wearing black armor and had a scar across its right eye. This unicorn was Tempest Shadow, Celestia's eldest daughter and Twilight Sparkle's older sister. She had been promised to rule Canterlot when her mother passed away, but all that changed when her younger sister was born. Tempest was upset when the filly was born, and now she has to wait for her to die as well so she can be next in line to the throne. "Life isn't fair...is it, my little friend?" Tempest asked coldly. The mouse turned towards her and quickly jumps off the stool to slide and hide. "While some are born to celebrate..." Tempest said, as the mouse hid behind a book on the floor "Others spend their lives in the dark, begging for leftovers". Tempest then pushes the book away and the mouse runs off again. "The way I see it... you and I are exactly the same" Tempest said, as the mouse hid behind a basket "We both want to find a way out". Then, Tempest swatted the basket away, causing the mouse to run away, but Tempest lunged at it like a lion, and caught it with his magic. "But you, in any case, will never see the light of another day..." Tempest said, as he prepared to vaporize the mouse with his magic "Bye". "Haven't they taught you that it's not nice to torment the weak?" a familiar voice said, stopping Tempest. Tempest turned to see Rarity expressionless and standing close to her. "And now what do you want, Rarity?" Tempest sighed, as he put the mouse under his right hoof. "I'm here to inform you that Queen Celestia is coming here" Rarity said "I hope you have a good excuse not to have attended the ceremony". At that moment, Tempest saw the mouse break free and run away. "Oh, Rarity. You made me lose my toy" Tempest said, in mock hurt. "Ha, you will lose more than that when your mother is here" Rarity said "She is more furious than a yak without snack". "Oooooooooh... I tremble with FEAR!" Tempest rasped, as he crouched down and flashed Rarity a toothy smile. Suddenly, Rarity started to get scared by the way Tempest was looking at her and she started to back away. "Please, Tempest. Don't look at me like that…" Rarity said, before starting to run "HEEEELLLLLLLPPPP!" But Tempest already pounced on her. And then, just as Tempest was about to damage the white unicorn, another voice was heard. "Tempest!" Tempest looked back to see her mother, Celestia, who looked quite angry. "Yes?" Tempest asked, cheerfully. "Drop her" Celestia ordered. "Always so timely, Your Majesty" Rarity said, feeling relieved, before Tempest let her up, huffing annoyed. Tempest then approached Celestia, sarcastically overjoyed. "Wow... my beloved mother comes down from heights to mingle with the commoners" said Tempest. "Luna and I haven't seen you at Twilight's presentation," Celestia said, as she frowned at Tempest. "Oh, that was today?" Tempest gasped, feigning desperation dramatically. "Oh, what a shame…" Tempest then scraped his broken horn against the wall, making a horrible screeching sound that made Rarity flinch. "I hadn't remembered…" Tempest said, as he stopped and examined his broken horn. "Yes, but no matter how clueless you are..." Rarity said as she got close to Tempest's face "As the Queen's daughter, your duty was to have been in the front row!" Then, Tempest snapped her jaw at Rarity and she took cover in Celestia's paws, but glanced sideways to taunt Tempest. "I was front row… until that hairball was born" Tempest said, as he knelt down and looked at Rarity, scaring her again. Suddenly, Celestia lowered her head to look her daughter in the eye with an annoyed expression. "That hairball... is my daughter. Your sister. And your future queen" Celestia stated. Then, Tempest looked bored at her mother, while they both raised their heads again, without taking their eyes off each other. "Oh, I'll have to rehearse my curtsys…" Tempest taunted with a smile, as she turned and walked away from her. "Don't turn your back on me, Tempest!" Celestia said, warning her. "Oh no, mother... It's you who shouldn't turn you back on me..." Tempest said looking back. Celestia was furious and magically teleported in front of Tempest, and she stared at her, as she gritted her teeth and charged her horn with magic towards her daughter for the first time in a long time. "ARE YOU CHALLENGING ME?" Celestia demanded. For once, Tempest flinched, but then she recomposed herself. "Temper, temper..." Tempest said, before caressing her scar "I would never dream of challenging you..." "Shame" Rarity said "Why not?" "In terms of intelligence, I've got that part... But when it comes to brute force..." Tempest said looking at Rarity and then at Celestia, as she began to walk away grimly "I'm afraid, in the genetic inheritance, I have lost..." As they watched Tempest walk away, Rarity walked over to Celestia. "Oh, there is a black sheep in every family" Rarity sighed "In mine there are two... and they always manage to spoil special occasions". "Oh, what am I going to do with her?" Celestia sighed to herself. "It would make a nice rug" said Rarity in a mocking tone. "Rarity" Celestia scolded, with a smile. "And the best thing is that when she gets dirty, you could take her outside and shake her" Rarity said. Celestia couldn't help but laugh at Rarity's joke, and together they began to walk back to Canterlot Castle. (Stop music at minute 0:54) Hours later, at night, there was a huge storm that swept across Equestria. All the resident creatures were in their respective havens and sound asleep. However, a zebra seemed to still be awake inside a cabin in the woods. Inside the cabin, Zecora was completing a drawing of an Alicorn filly. "Hmmm... (laughing)" Zecora laughed, as he added the finishing touch to the painting, drawing a crown on the Alicorn filly's head. "Twilight Sparkle..." Zecora said, with another laugh and admired his painting. Author's Note Introducing, in this chapter, Tempest Shadow, Celestia's eldest daughter, Twilight Sparkle's older sister, and the main antagonist of our story. Chapter 3: The Morning Report (Start music in minute 0:54) Several years had passed since Twilight Sparkle was born. One morning at dawn, Twilight ran out of her room onto a balcony, watching as she gazed at the first sign of the rising sun and the city surrounding Canterlot Castle. Twilight smiled in amazement as she remembered a promise she made with her mother. Very excited, she ran back to the castle and found in the room that Celestia and Luna shared, to wake up her mother In the room, both Alicorn sisters were sleeping, until Twilight jumped on Celestia's bed, trying to wake her up. "Mom! Mom!" Twilight said “Come on, we have to go! Wake up!". But she kept sleeping, despite the shaking her daughter gave her. "Mom? Mom?" Twilight said, trying to wake her mother up "Mom, mom, mom…" “Your daughter is already awake, sister…” Luna said, half awake. “Five more minutes, please…” Celestia said, also half awake. "Mom, come on, mom" Twilight said. Then, Twilight yanked on her mother's mane, but she lost control and rolled off the bed. Then, Twilight climbed back onto the bed and gently nudged Celestia with her head, causing her to open one eye, looking at her daughter. “You promised it!” Twilight said annoyed. Knowing her daughter wouldn't take no for an answer, Celestia snorted and lifted her head wearily. "Okay, honey..." Celestia said "I'm awake now..." "YES!" Twilight said happily. Once both Alicorn sisters had freshened up and put on their royal attire, they joined Twilight outside. As Luna left to attend to democratic business, Twilight and Celestia climbed some stairs, until they reached the top of a tower. Dawn was beginning to illuminate the top of Canterlot Castle impressively as the light rose higher. Celestia and Twilight were sitting, looking out over the place from the top of the tower, where it is said that all of Equestria could be seen from above. "Look, Twilight..." Celestia said, "All the land that the light touches... is our kingdom". "Wow!" Twilight said, surprised by the sight of the city with sunrise in sight. "Like the Sun, a queen's reign time has a rise and fall..." Celestia explained, looking at Twilight with a smile "Someday, Twilight, my reign will end like the setting sun... and a new day will dawn with you as the new queen". "And all this will be mine?" Twilight asked, as she gazed at the kingdom in awe. “Everything, my daughter” Celestia said. "Everything that touches the light…" Twilight said, before noticing an area of Equestria that wasn't illuminated by the sun "And what about that dark area?" "That place is beyond our realm" Celestia said, firmly. "You must never go there, Twilight". "I thought a queen could do as she pleased" Twilight said. "Oh, Twilight…" Celestia said with a smile, as she stood up "Being queen entails more than just always getting your way". "Is there more?" Twilight asked curiously, as she followed her mother. Later, Twilight and Celestia walked through a nearby meadow together, watching the ponies socialize in harmony with the other Equestrian species. “Everything you see in Equestria coexists in a delicate balance” Celestia explained “As Queen, you must understand that balance and respect all creatures. From the tiny Parasitres to the great Dragons”. "But mom, don't dragons eat ponies?" Twilight asked confused. “That's right, Twilight. But let me explain it to you: when a dragon dies, its body turns into grass and we eat that grass...” Celestia said, while looking towards her subjects lived in peace and happiness “And so we are all connected... by the great Circle of Life". At that moment, Rarity came galloping up, waving at Celestia. "Good morning, Your Majesty!" Rarity said. "Good morning, Rarity," Celestia said, greeting the unicorn. “I show up with the morning report” Rarity said. “I'm all ears” Celestia said. "Well. The rumor from the Parasitres is that the Kirin are tired” Rarity reported “Some yaks are upset at their family gatherings…” "Seriously?" Celestia said. However, as Rarity continued to report, Twilight saw a cricket and jumped after it, but she missed, drawing her mother's attention. "What are you doing, daughter?" Celestia asked, smirking at Twilight as she chased after the cricket. "Pouncing" Twilight said, disappointed after losing another attempt to catch the cricket. "Then let an expert teach you..." Celestia whispered, before winking at her daughter, a mischievous smile on her face. "I've told the dragons to forget about it and..." Rarity continued reporting, exasperated. "Rarity, would you mind turning around?" Celestia asked, smiling at Rarity's carelessness. "Yes, your Majesty" Rarity said, turning around and continuing to report her report "Griffons don't thrive..." What Rarity didn't realize was that Celestia was crouching her daughter in the meadow grass, smiling. “Now get down on the ground” Celestia whispered, helping her daughter to a crouch. "Okay, I'm ready" Twilight whispered with a giggle. That giggle caught Rarity's attention. "What's going on back there?" said Rarity. “I teach her pouncing” Celestia replied. "Oh, very well, pouncing…" Rarity said, before realizing what was happening. "Pouncing!? No, Your Majesty, you will not be serious…” Scared, Rarity turned quickly, only to see Celestia smiling and making a circular motion with her hoof, telling her to keep her back again. "Oh, it's so humiliating…" Rarity moaned, turning around again, embarrassed. "Now don't make a sound..." Celestia whispered to her daughter, who was still camouflaged in the grass. "What are you telling him, Your Majesty?" Rarity asked, before noticing that Celestia and Twilight were no longer in sight “Your Majesty? Twilight?". Suddenly, out of nowhere, Twilight pounced on Rarity, who yelped in surprise, as Celestia came out of the grass, laughing nonstop. "You've done very well, honey" said Celestia, proud of her daughter, who approached her mother. At that moment, a mole came out of a hole next to Rarity. "Miss Rarity...?" the mole asked. "Yes?" Rarity said. “News from the underground network…” the mole explained. "Well, this time…" Celestia whispered to her daughter, planning another prank. But suddenly, they heard Rarity gasp. “YOUR MAJESTY!” Rarity yelled, alarmed by something the mole told her “Sirens and Changelins! They've been spotted in town! Luna is already there!” Hearing that, Celestia jumped into action. "Rarity, take Twilight home" Celestia ordered seriously. "Can I accompany you, mother?" Twilight supplied. "No, honey" Celestia said, before taking flight. After Celestia flew off to deal with the intruders, Twilight began to walk back to Canterlot Castle, accompanied by Rarity. "I never get to go anywhere..." Twilight complained. "Don't worry, Twilight. Someday you'll be the queen...” Rarity said, as she followed Twilight, who snorted, “And you'll be able to chase those stupid mangy scavengers all day...” Author's Note What will Twilight do regarding Celestia's order? We'll see... Chapter 4: Our Little SecretMeanwhile, Tempest was strolling through the back gardens of Canterlot Castle, minding her own business, brushing a branch out of the way as she went. At that moment, someone approached Tempest. It was Twilight Sparkle. "Hey sister, guess what?" Twilight said excitedly. Tempest still wasn't used to being called that, but she had to put up with it anyway. "I hate riddles..." she said Tempest, rolling her eyes without paying attention to Twilight. "I'm going to become the Queen" Twilight said. "Oh, what an illusion..." Tempest said, while she frowned sarcastically. Twilight then walked over to an area of the garden, where she could see the entire city. "Mom just showed me the kingdom…" Twilight said, as she smiled proudly, "And I'll reign in it". "Yes... Forgive me if I don't jump for joy, but I have a bad back, you know..." Tempest said, before lying down on the grass. "Sister…" Twilight said, as she approached Tempest and lay down on her sister's neck "When I'm queen, what are you going to be?" "A monkey's sister" Tempest said sarcastically. “How weird you are…” Twilight said with a smile, as she lowered herself from her sister's neck. "You have no idea…" Tempest said with her most convincing smile, before getting up and continuing her stroll through the garden "So… Mom has shown you around the kingdom, hasn't she?" "Everything..." Twilight confirmed, as she followed Tempest. "And I guess she hasn't taught you what's on the Northern Frontier" Tempest said, as she sat up and looked out over the shadowy area of the realm Twilight saw this morning. "Well, no…" Twilight said with a disappointed look, as she sat down too "She says I can't go there". “In that she is absolutely right. It's very dangerous” Tempest said dramatically, looking towards the horizon “Only the brave dare to go”. "I'm brave" Twilight said. "What's in there?" "I'm sorry, Twilight" Tempest said, as she lay down on the ground with her head up "I can't tell you". "Why not?" Twilight asked, jogging over to her sister. "Twilight, Twilight…" Tempest said, as she lovingly rubbed Twilight's mane, pretending to be affectionate "I'm only concerned about the well-being of my favorite little sister". "Yeah, right... I'm your only sister" Twilight snorted sarcastically. "All the more reason for me to protect you..." Tempest said "And a Yaks's Graveyard is no place for a young princess. Oops!" As soon as he said those words, Tempest feigned shock, as he placed his hoof over her mouth and gasped in false surprise. "A graveyard of what?!" Twilight said in amazement "Wow!" “Oh, how clumsy, it got away!” Tempest said, acting dramatically “I guess one day you would have found out. You are such a smart pony”. Then, Tempest pulled Twilight close with her hoof and petted her. "But could you do me a favor?" Tempest asked "Promise me you will never go to that horrible place". "I promise" Twilight said, thinking about it. “Well said” Tempest said with a smile, as she gently pulled the little sister away from her “Now go play. Have fun”. But before Twilight left, Tempest told her one last thing. “And remember: it will be our little secret…” With that, Twilight ran off happily, while Tempest continued her own stroll in the opposite direction… an wicked smile on her face. Her secret plan was now in motion. Author's Note "What are you planning, Tempest Shadow?" We'll see...

Rarity said as she got close to Tempest's face "As the Queen's daughter, your duty was to have been in the front row!" Then, Tempest snapped her jaw at Rarity and she took cover in Celestia's paws, but glanced sideways to taunt Tempest.
