Several years had passed since Twilight Sparkle was born.

One morning at dawn, Twilight ran out of her room onto a balcony, watching as she gazed at the first sign of the rising sun and the city surrounding Canterlot Castle.

Twilight smiled in amazement as she remembered a promise she made with her mother. Very excited, she ran back to the castle and found in the room that Celestia and Luna shared, to wake up her mother

In the room, both Alicorn sisters were sleeping, until Twilight jumped on Celestia's bed, trying to wake her up.

"Mom! Mom!" Twilight said “Come on, we have to go! Wake up!".

But she kept sleeping, despite the shaking her daughter gave her.

"Mom? Mom?" Twilight said, trying to wake her mother up "Mom, mom, mom…"

“Your daughter is already awake, sister…” Luna said, half awake.

“Five more minutes, please…” Celestia said, also half awake.

"Mom, come on, mom" Twilight said.

Then, Twilight yanked on her mother's mane, but she lost control and rolled off the bed. Then, Twilight climbed back onto the bed and gently nudged Celestia with her head, causing her to open one eye, looking at her daughter.

“You promised it!” Twilight said annoyed.

Knowing her daughter wouldn't take no for an answer, Celestia snorted and lifted her head wearily.

"Okay, honey..." Celestia said "I'm awake now..."

"YES!" Twilight said happily.

Once both Alicorn sisters had freshened up and put on their royal attire, they joined Twilight outside. As Luna left to attend to democratic business, Twilight and Celestia climbed some stairs, until they reached the top of a tower.

Dawn was beginning to illuminate the top of Canterlot Castle impressively as the light rose higher. Celestia and Twilight were sitting, looking out over the place from the top of the tower, where it is said that all of Equestria could be seen from above.

"Look, Twilight..." Celestia said, "All the land that the light touches... is our kingdom".

"Wow!" Twilight said, surprised by the sight of the city with sunrise in sight.

"Like the Sun, a queen's reign time has a rise and fall..." Celestia explained, looking at Twilight with a smile "Someday, Twilight, my reign will end like the setting sun... and a new day will dawn with you as the new queen".

"And all this will be mine?" Twilight asked, as she gazed at the kingdom in awe.

“Everything, my daughter” Celestia said.

"Everything that touches the light…" Twilight said, before noticing an area of Equestria that wasn't illuminated by the sun "And what about that dark area?"

"That place is beyond our realm" Celestia said, firmly. "You must never go there, Twilight".

"I thought a queen could do as she pleased" Twilight said.

"Oh, Twilight…" Celestia said with a smile, as she stood up "Being queen entails more than just always getting your way".

"Is there more?" Twilight asked curiously, as she followed her mother.

Later, Twilight and Celestia walked through a nearby meadow together, watching the ponies socialize in harmony with the other Equestrian species.

“Everything you see in Equestria coexists in a delicate balance” Celestia explained “As Queen, you must understand that balance and respect all creatures. From the tiny Parasitres to the great Dragons”.

"But mom, don't dragons eat ponies?" Twilight asked confused.

“That's right, Twilight. But let me explain it to you: when a dragon dies, its body turns into grass and we eat that grass...” Celestia said, while looking towards her subjects lived in peace and happiness “And so we are all connected... by the great Circle of Life".

At that moment, Rarity came galloping up, waving at Celestia.

"Good morning, Your Majesty!" Rarity said.

"Good morning, Rarity," Celestia said, greeting the unicorn.

“I show up with the morning report” Rarity said.

“I'm all ears” Celestia said.

"Well. The rumor from the Parasitres is that the Kirin are tired” Rarity reported “Some yaks are upset at their family gatherings…”

"Seriously?" Celestia said.

However, as Rarity continued to report, Twilight saw a cricket and jumped after it, but she missed, drawing her mother's attention.

"What are you doing, daughter?" Celestia asked, smirking at Twilight as she chased after the cricket.

"Pouncing" Twilight said, disappointed after losing another attempt to catch the cricket.

"Then let an expert teach you..." Celestia whispered, before winking at her daughter, a mischievous smile on her face.

"I've told the dragons to forget about it and..." Rarity continued reporting, exasperated.

"Rarity, would you mind turning around?" Celestia asked, smiling at Rarity's carelessness.

"Yes, your Majesty" Rarity said, turning around and continuing to report her report "Griffons don't thrive..."

What Rarity didn't realize was that Celestia was crouching her daughter in the meadow grass, smiling.

“Now get down on the ground” Celestia whispered, helping her daughter to a crouch.

"Okay, I'm ready" Twilight whispered with a giggle.

That giggle caught Rarity's attention.

"What's going on back there?" said Rarity.

“I teach her pouncing” Celestia replied.

"Oh, very well, pouncing…" Rarity said, before realizing what was happening. "Pouncing!? No, Your Majesty, you will not be serious…”

Scared, Rarity turned quickly, only to see Celestia smiling and making a circular motion with her hoof, telling her to keep her back again.

"Oh, it's so humiliating…" Rarity moaned, turning around again, embarrassed.

"Now don't make a sound..." Celestia whispered to her daughter, who was still camouflaged in the grass.

"What are you telling him, Your Majesty?" Rarity asked, before noticing that Celestia and Twilight were no longer in sight “Your Majesty? Twilight?".

Suddenly, out of nowhere, Twilight pounced on Rarity, who yelped in surprise, as Celestia came out of the grass, laughing nonstop.

"You've done very well, honey" said Celestia, proud of her daughter, who approached her mother.

At that moment, a mole came out of a hole next to Rarity.

"Miss Rarity...?" the mole asked.

"Yes?" Rarity said.

“News from the underground network…” the mole explained.

"Well, this time…" Celestia whispered to her daughter, planning another prank.

But suddenly, they heard Rarity gasp.

“YOUR MAJESTY!” Rarity yelled, alarmed by something the mole told her “Sirens and Changelins! They've been spotted in town! Luna is already there!”

Hearing that, Celestia jumped into action.

"Rarity, take Twilight home" Celestia ordered seriously.

"Can I accompany you, mother?" Twilight supplied.

"No, honey" Celestia said, before taking flight.

After Celestia flew off to deal with the intruders, Twilight began to walk back to Canterlot Castle, accompanied by Rarity.

"I never get to go anywhere..." Twilight complained.

"Don't worry, Twilight. Someday you'll be the queen...” Rarity said, as she followed Twilight, who snorted, “And you'll be able to chase those stupid mangy scavengers all day...”
