Somewhere far into the multiverse

Canterlot High

Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna stood next to Principal Cinch and Dean Candance. All four were on a stage in front of the entire school faculty and students. The Canterlot Principal was nervous about the topic she would bring up, but it had to be done. Her sister refused to take her place, Pinch was undoubtedly not going to talk about it, and Candance flat out said 'No.' This left Celestia with the task, so without any other choice, she grabbed the mic and gave her best smile. "Good morning, everyone; as you already know, we're holding the Friendship games this year!"

She Heard the students cheer, while the staff looked indifferent, which is expected when the school lost every time. "But this year, Another school will be joining us." Everyone stopped cheering and started to murmur amongst themselves. Celestia looked back at her sister nervously, and all she got back was a scowl and a shake of the head. Again she put her mask back on and did her best to stay confident. "That's right; the Velder Academy will be joining us!"

"Now, give it up for Principal Maxwell and Dean Myxine!" She prayed that these two didn't make things awkward. The first to step onto the stage was a woman around Celestia's height. Her skin was a dark grey, and she had short dark aquamarine blue hair, with one side longer than the other. Her eyes were the same color as her hair. She wore a dark navy blue business suit themed around seashells and fish; the woman also wore glasses. Myxine always had her brows furrowed and a piercing gaze; she was approachable. But the man who walked onto the stage was a different story.

Raven Maxwell is the founder and current Principal of the Velder Academy. An Army veteran would later become a mercenary, but he retired soon after losing his left arm and eye. He was formerly married, now a widower after the death of his wife. A father to eight, all of them adopted, even though one of them would be an adult in three years. Another thing, he always had a weapon on him, be it a knife, handgun, pepper spray, taser, and that one time with a sword. He always had a weapon in some way or form, and if he couldn't care for a weapon, he used his one remaining arm. The man wasn't violent, but he wouldn't turn the other cheek if someone attacked him or his family.

The man wore a black double-breasted suit with a red tie and feathers on his right shoulder. He wore a black eye patch that covered his missing eye. Raven folded up the left sleeve of his suit because of the missing arm. He had two scars on his face, one near his cheek, and one near his left eyebrow. The one yellow eye he had, stared through anyone he looked at. Also, did anyone mention how tall he was? Because he towered over one in the room. Overall, he looked intimidating and didn't belong here but on the battlefield.

Luna glared at the man as he walked by her; Maxwell paid her no mind. Celestia never understood what went down between her sister and the veteran, but they refused to tell her. As soon as Raven got closer, she covered the mic with her and whispered to him. "Please keep it family-friendly, Maxwell." She pleaded with him.

"Cut the shit, Celestia, and give me the mic." Ah, there it is, his no-nonsense personality. Ever since she met him, he was always rude towards her, Candance, Luna, and even Pinch. Yes, he was civil whenever he talked with any of them, but this underlying hate and loathing was in his voice. With a defeated sigh, she handed over the mic to Maxwell, and to her surprise, he said, 'thank you.'

"Thank you, Principal Celestia, and Good morning to all of you." He spoke in a stern and commanding voice. "As you already know, Velder Academy will be joining this year's Friendship games. The Wondercolts and the Shadowbolts" Raven always wondered why Canterlot high was themed around horses; it was silly. "will be facing off against the Black Crows." Raven slightly smiled at that; birds is a far better theme and mascot. "I expect the Wondercolts to put their everything when it comes because they'll need it." He gave the crowd a toothy grin and sounded assumed. This sent chills down the students' spines, even some teachers and staff members.

Luna shuffled over to her sister and whispered to her. "Why did you invite him and his school again? He is nothing but trouble; he even adopted that trouble maker Oleander."

Celestia gave her sister a disapproving look and shook her head. " Lulu, I expected better out of you. And we don't talk about former students like that, even if it's Oleander." Letting out another tired sigh, she continued. "As I said before, his school seemed so isolated, And Raven himself seemed so lonely. So why not invite him over and show him the power of friendship."The Principal smiled at her vice Principal.

The woman couldn't help but roll her eyes. "But his Dean was associated with Chrysalis!" she whispered yelled. Celestia frowned at the thought of that dreadful woman and her 'school.' Taking a calming breath, she waved off her sister's concerns. "We can't prove that; even the courts couldn't do it. Don't be a spoiled sport, and let's have some fun!"

"But we always lose." She grumbled out. This earned her a playful hip bump from her sister.

"Ugh! Why did Dad bring us here?" Cozy Glow complained. She wore a pink and white dress.

"Better than being in class!" Amber spoke up while carrying her baby sister Jadel. She wore a bright purple and white dress. In contrast, Jade wore a simple Green dress.

"Speak for yourself; Slackers never get anywhere."Oleander said while reading through her notebook. She wore the Velder Academy female uniform.

"But you're always studying!" "Yeah, you need to have some fun!" Night Twister was the first to speak, then Dew Twister. Both wore their Velder Academy uniform, as both of them, besides Oleander and Moon Charm, were old enough to attend the school.

"I must agree; you spend far too much time studying." Xeuz chuckled when Oleander glared at everyone. He wore a light brown shirt with black stripes and pants that matched.

"Everyone, be quiet; Dad is still talking!" Moon Charm shushed everyone. Like the others, she wore her Velder Academy uniform. The eight of them got lucky when mister Maxwell adopted them. Initially, the group was a bunch of orphaned trouble markers that did some unsavory things. That's until they were caught red-handed by Maxwell and Myxine; the group was trying to steal the muffler from his car. The Dean was about to call the cops on them, but the man said that wouldn't be needed.

Raven didn't see delinquents but children with untapped potential, and as a man who was orphaned at one point in his life, he adopted them. Of course, he was met with some pushback from Oleander and Cozy and even his own Dean, but he went through it regardless. And Moon Charm couldn't be any happier, it was as if they were destined to meet.

Raven got off stage after hearing the applause and cheers, with Mxyine following close behind. "I think that went well."

"If you mean scaring half the school, it did go well." The Dean answered sarcastically. Raven couldn't help but smile; this is why he chose her to be his Dean. Always question his decisions and push him in the right direction. "With this silliness over with, let us return to school grounds; you still have a meeting with Ambrosia and Miasma."

The Principal groaned internally; those two were bearable one at a time, but not together. He needed to find a way to weasel out of this. Then it came to him, his kids. All of them ran up to them and greeted him. This gave him an idea. "Before we head back to school, who wants ice cream?"

Like fireworks, his children exploded into cheers of excitement and glee. All but Amber and Cozy because they knew what he was doing but weren't going to say anything. Meanwhile, Myxine narrowed her eyes at her boss. She was going to get him back for this, and Raven knew it, but that was his future self to worry about. "Alright, calm down." He chuckled as he started walking while everyone else followed.

Then he saw something from the corner of his eye. Raven turned his head and found nothing. That was strange; he swore he saw one with black robes wearing a black mask. He shrugged it off and kept walking.

Glave stood there watching everything play out. "A world that never was." The world faded around him and brought the prisoner to another one. One of many worlds and timelines that Glave could observe but could do nothing to influence and or interact with. Even with the two wayard souls that originally came from Raven’s dying world. One was sent to a world where the magic disappeared, and the other to a harsh world filled with radiation. The latter was a lot more fun to watch.

“Laby and Ara Hann” Glave hummed to himself, he wondered how those two were doing.
