Scootaloo rolled out of bed and ran to the bathroom. She pulled back the curtains from her shower and hopped in. After half an hour of showering, she got out and dried herself off. Scootaloo picked out a red dress with a rose design from her closet and put it on. She looked in the mirror and saw a young, sexy mare staring back at her. She looked at the desk and saw the Bible Gears gave her for a heartwarming, or at least his equivalent, of it. Scootaloo looked at the make-up bag that was also a gift that was from Rarity.
“Should I? I mean, Gears is fine. If I don’t,... NO, I’m not going to half ass. This is a date with a stallion you love, not a friend you hang out with.” Scootaloo took out some red lipstick and blush and went to work. Once she finished, she heard a knock at her door. She walked up and opened it, seeing her son.
Lightning blitz rarely saw his mother in makeup, but unlike those times, he didn’t know why she was wearing it now. “Mom, why are you wearing makeup?” he asked
“Lightning, I have a date today”
“Oh” he face scrunched up in anger at hearing that “is it Gears again”
“Ah, come on Lightning, I thought you liked Gears”
“I do but it's just he is always with you and I never get to do anything with you.”
“Oh, so you want me to go on a date with you, then?” Scootaloo joked
“MOM!” Scootaloo began laughing to herself. Lightning glared at her a bit before her laughing died down. “Don’t worry, Lightning, I always push things with Gears off so we can do something, but you're always busy. We need to make some time”
“But I love you, mom. I don’t want some stallion to get in the way”
“Well, if you think he gets in the way, maybe you can come with me and him.” Scootaloo lied
“No, I can’t I have a date too, remember” Scootaloo let out a sigh
“A hang out with Dinky, her brother, and his friend.”
“No, mom, it's on a double date,” Lightning stated. Scootaloo rolled her eyes and smiled as she ushered him to his room.

Scootaloo and Lightning walked up to a stallion with two foals next to him. Lightning hugged the unicorn filly. Scootaloo smiled at the sight, then she looked at the stallion and realized that she recognised the stallion. She approached the stallion, who was glaring at Lightning.
“Wardan, is that you?”
“Scootaloo!? Hay, long time, no see”
“Yeah, how Derpy doing”
“She's good. She got a new job, some black ops type of stuff.”
“I thought she was planning on staying home to raise those two” Scootaloo pointed to his foals.
“She was, but now, thanks to doing whatever that thing you two did, she has to make up for it.”
“Damn it, she didn’t mention me, did she?”
“No, I don’t think they got anything on you. So this is Lightning Blitz hu. Well, I’m going to tell you this once kid, if you hurt her, you're going to regret it.”
“Are you threatening my son?” Scootaloo asked in a mock anger
“Na, just making a suggestion” after a brief pass, the two began laughing. Scootaloo gave him a hug. When she got out, they noticed a well-dressed derconic stallion was glaring at Warden. he immediately saluted and stood at attention. The stallion walked up to Scootaloo. She noticed it was Gears, put his foreleg around her and pulled her closer.
“Wardan, you got your wife. I have my Marefriend,” he said sternly
“Y-yes sir.”
“Gears laughed “aw I'm just messing with you I’m here to drop off glittershell with you.”
“Now you two were coming to get you at 8, so Lightning, I want you in bed when you get home.”
“You too Glitter” Gears added
“Got it,” Glitter said with a smile
“Come on,” Lightning said with a frown

The sun was on its way down. Gears and Scootaloo arrived at her home after their date. Scootaloo gave Gears her keys so he could open the door. She was feeling exhausted due to things not going exactly like Gears had planned it. But disputed that she still had a good time, Gears opened the door and held it open for her. She swung her tail back and forth as she walked in, not caring how she looked. Her tail brushed against his chest, making him blush slightly. He followed her in and closed the door behind him. Scootaloo collapsed on the couch, not even attempting to get up.
“Scootaloo, aren't you going to head to your room?”
“Too tired can you carry me there” she asked
Gears blushed, but nodded and trotted over to her. Once he was at her side, he picked her up and carried her to her room. Once he was in the room, he slowly lowered Scootaloo down onto the bed. He shot her a smile and walked to her mirror. Gears looked at his suit. He had white slacks with a red button up and a white coat. He grimaced at how filthy he was, then he looked over to Scootaloo her red dress was covered in dirt.
“Scootaloo, where's the washer?”
“In the bathroom. Why?”
“Well, I need to wash my suit.”
“Can you wash my dress too and my sheets?”
“Okay” Gears began to take off his clothes. He looked up at Scootaloo and saw her slip off her dress. He blushed at the situation. Sure, ponies don’t wear clothes but he was so used to seeing Scootaloo in clothes, he was so used to wearing them in front of her too. Scootaloo hooved over her dress, a blush on her face all the while. Gears then entered the bathroom and closed the door. Scootaloo hopped on the bed and looked at her nightstand. The bible was there. She reached over and grabbed the holy text.
Gears walked out of the bathroom and looked at Scootaloo. She was holding a Bible. her hoof was going all over the lettering. He looked at her with wrapped attention. His eyes ran down her body. He knew she was a looker, but had never seen her like this. She had curves that- he quickly looked away, trying to get nasty thoughts out of his head. He glanced back at her and noticed that she was staring at him with a bit of a blush of her own. She moshing him to come over to her. All the while grabbing a nearby blanket to cover herself. Once he sat down, she snuggled up next to him.
“Gears, I have a question for you”
“What is it Scoots”
“Why did you get me this?” Scootaloo gestured to the bible.
“I thought you might like it”
“What is this though I have never seen anything like it.”
“It's a religious text. It's my faith.”
“No offence Gears, but I think that type of stuff is stupid”
“Why is mercy a good thing?” Gears' question made Scootaloo look at him with confusion.
“What?!”
“Why is mercy a good thing?”
“Because someone's life means something.”
“Why does someone mean something?”
“Because it does, I don’t know. I’m not a philosopher”
“Why does someone mean something?”
“I don’t know Gears what don’t you get”
Gears opened the bible to a verse “Matthew 6:14; for if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly father will also forgive you.”
Scootaloo didn’t know what to say, so she just let him read the verses. He kissed her on the forehead and went to another verse “Romans 3:23; For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in christ Jesus”
“As for life James 1:12; blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial for when he stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.”
“That makes sense, I guess, but what about if you don’t believe in God?”
“Doesn't make sense, does it?”
“So this is what you believe in, but why give it to me?”
“You want another reason?”
“Yes” Gears looked at her lovingly. He grabbed her for a hoof and bright it to he’s lips. He kissed it and she lowered her leg right when Gears embraced her.
“Because I want this to work, Scoots”
“What do you mean?”
“For a relationship to work, the partners need to have the same ideals”
“So you want me to believe in this”
“Yes”
“Why this then?”
“Because it's true, because it's good and what other opinions do you have?” Scootaloo was about to say something but stopped herself. Does she really have anything to rebuke him? She doesn't really have anything to believe in besides her son, but she knows he needs some structure in his life. Scootaloo looked at Gears who was waiting patiently for her to respond. She looked up at him.
“Okay then, but I want you to read it to me. We still got another four hours till we got to pick up Lightning and Glitter.”
Scootaloo lad down on to Gears’ haunches. Gears blushed and put his clawed hoof on her temple and gently massaged it. He then turned to a verse that he loved to read. “John 4:7; Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.
