Several days have passed since the failed Siege of Canterlot, and the long process of rebuilding has begun. Twilight has been reunited with her young student, Pearl Rose, and all seems right with the world.

But something is bothering the princess. Something Pearl told her about her escape from Canterlot. And so, the two try and retrace her steps, and discover why Pearl and her family ended up in the Everfree Forest.

What they discover, neither of them expected.
