The Night Before Night Mare Night
The Night Before Night Mare
Chapter One: What a Fright
By: TheCrazyAsian A.K.A. Feasttalon
I always liked Night Mare Night. You know there's free candy. What's not to like about free candy? Even though I loved it I stopped going out in a costume a few years ago. I miss the free candy, but the whole thing just seems childish; something for little colts and fillies to do. I don't know whether I stopped because I really wanted to stop or because all my friends started calling me a "Little Baby" for thinking about going. So for ever year since then I've sat in my room trying to sleep, through the sound of little ponies keeps me up most of the night. Eventually I'll go and eat something or read of book. Not exactly my idea of fun but what am I supposed to do?
Today is the day before Night Mare Night and I was gathering some things up, preparing for tomorrow. This year I made preparations to make sure I would be able to get some sleep. I bought ear plugs from the local hardware store and a sleeping potion from my friendly neighborhood alchemist. As I was picking up the potion with my teeth I heard a knock at the door. I wondered who that could be? The glass vial clinked as I set it down on the table, and went to go see who was at the front door.
I opened the door expecting to see a salesmare trying to sell me something I don't need or Derpy asking me to sign for a package, instead I found some of my fellow classmates standing there. Outside the door are Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom. I can understand why Scoots would be here, she comes to my house every now and then to ask me for help with homework, not like I mind. Though I don't know why the other two are here though, I know them from school but we're not friends or anything.
"Hey, what are you guys doing here?" I ask.
"Hey Talon what's up?" Scootaloo says. Did she just block out what I just said? It must be nice to have selective hearing. Might as well answer her question; no use arguing about something this petty.
"You know I'm getting ready for Night Mare Night, finishing up my Bio homework. Same shit, different day" I tell her.
"Sounds fun. In case you don't know these are my two friends; their name's are Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle," she responds.
"Yeah I know them; I buy apples from her and some of my clothes from her," I reply, pointing at Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle so that Scootaloo knows which "her" I'm talking about, though it should be obvious.
"You know I have a name!" Sweetie Belle complains. She whines even more than her sister.
"So I'll ask again, why are you three here? Do you want candy?" I reply.
"Nah, candy's for little foals. What we want is your help," Scootaloo says.
"Help with what? Algebra?"
"No, we need your help with something more mischievous," Sweetie Belle says. What the buck do I have to do to get a straight answer from one of these ponies.
"You want to be anymore specific, or am I just going to have to stand here and play 20 Questions? Because I hate guessing games," I respond impatiently.
"Ya' remember Miss Cheerilee right?" Apple Bloom says.
"Sure, what about her?"
"Well we're thinking about pranking her, nothing much. Just a little thing," Scootaloo says.
"So you want me to help you with a prank? You realize that's a crime right? The last thing I need is Canterlot U finding out I got arrested. Unlike you I'm trying to go to college!" I reply.
"Yeesh. What's your problem. You think your so much better than me just because you're trying to go university," Scootaloo says. I swear I can hear Apple Bloom calling me a pretentious prick under her breath.
"Look all I'm saying is that the last thing I need is the dean of the university knowing that I have a criminal record," I explain, "It'd hard to get into a college when you've been arrested. If you asked me in two years then I would probably say yes."
"Look no one's going to be arrested, we have the whole thing planned out. Just meet us outside of Cheerilee's place at 11," Sweetie Belle tells me.
"Where is Cheerilee's house anyway?" I ask.
"I don't see how you expect to get into Canterlot U if you can't even remember where someone's house is," Scootaloo taunts.
"Unlike you I didn't go to her house everyday asking for help on the homework," I jest.
Scootaloo's eyebrows crease as she stares at me in anger, her teeth barred as if she was reading to take a bite out of my face at any moment. I raise my eyebrow and a smirk creases my face, my facial expression just says, "What are you going to do about it?"
"Look we'll see you later outside of Cheerilee's place," Sweetie Belle says. Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle then turn to leave, dragging Scootaloo by the feathers behind them. I can barely see her tongue sticking out because of the dust being kicked up by her hooves. I'll assume that she realized that this final act of defiance was a bad idea when she begins to have a hacking cough, presumably from inhaling some dust.
She hasn't grown up a bit since when she was just a small filly back in grade school. I remember back when I first met her, it was back in grade school when we had Miss Cheerilee as a teacher. I should stop reminiscing and just get back to getting my homeowkr done so I can go out later. I just hope I don't get arrested.
I've managed to stay out of the muck up until now, but it seems like I'm going to be getting involved this year.
