April Foals Day
YOU DID THIS!
Previous ChapterYOU DID THIS!
"Spike! Get your adult size purple scaly hide in here this minute!" Rarity's voice hit an octave with an added bite to it.
Spike simply smiled he'd gotten used to Rarity flipping out like this. He had been lying stretched out on the couch in the main area of Carousel Boutique. "Yes, dear." He glanced down at the ring on his left clawed finger. I remember Shining Armor talking about going through this with Cadence. He thought while rolling off the couch and walking to the bedroom on all fours.
"Spike, what is taking so long?" Rarity’s voice echoed off the walls
Spike could feel the glare even though he could see her face yet. He poked his head into the room and found Rarity laying on their large bed. The ring over her horn had caught the sunlight from the window its jewels sparkling. "Yes-" Spike dodge the pillow that sailed past his head. Yup, another mood swing. Spike didn't hide the grin; he had his wings open and managed to catch the pillow. It had bounced off and he caught it in his claw. “Again with the pillows?”
Rarity was laying in the center of their large bed. The bed was practically covered end to end with pillows or as Spike had come to call them projectiles. “You did this to me, it’s all your fault Spike-” The sound of Spike’s laughter had Rarity narrowing her eyes at her husband. "Your laughing! Spike, I don’t believe it.”
Spike took in a breath and dabbed a tear from his eyes. “How is this all my fault? Were you not involved as well? As I recall it takes two too-” He felt a pillow come upside his head with Rarity using her magical aura to turn it into a projectile. “Look, Rare, it shouldn’t be too much longer." Rising on his back legs, he walked up to her carrying both pillows. “So, what’s the crisis of the hour?” He kept a smile on his face.
Rarity raised a hoof and rubbed her now swollen stomach. “Our little darling is in another kicking match.”
Spike felt a cringe run through his body. Without his hard scales, he knew his back would be in far more pain. Rarity liked to sleep right up next to him at night. “Believe me I know she’s most active at night,” Spike replied laying down next to her in bed. He wrapped most of his body around her and laid his head on Rarity’s stomach. Sure enough, he could feel movement. He felt what look like a hoof push up and tap him on the chin. Spike lifted his head and shook it. “Kid got strength, must come from me.” He said puffing out his chest a little.
Rarity couldn’t help but laugh at their child kicking Spike in the chin and what he just said. “The kid will have my magic as well Spikey.”
“To do what? Throw pillows at me?” Spike said and dodged yet another pillow aimed at his face and managed to catch it with his long tail. I’m getting good at this. He flicked his tail and the pillow landed right on top of Rarity’s head. “Uh…I didn’t mean to do that.” Spike said cringing a bit. He’d noticed her magic was now even more powerful that normal. Could be due to the kid’s magic. He managed to get out of bed and a barrage of pillows sailed his way. Ducking and dodging he kept that same warm loving smile. When the last pillow flew off the bed, Spike managed to grab her hooves in his claws. “Rarity.”
She looked into those dark green eyes of his and knew that smile. “No, I’m still mad at you.” She tried to look away yet found herself unable to do so. She could see all her pillows thrown about the room. “…you did this-”
Spike ran a claw along her cheek causing her breath to catch a bit. “Rarity.”
Rarity could feel the heat rushing to her cheeks. “Spikey.” She shot back and found the muscles in her narrowed eyes straining to keep their hold.
“No matter how many pillows you throw, or mood swings you go through. I’m not going to love you any less. If anything it’ll make me love you even more. It’s one of the countless reasons I married you Rarity. Remember?”
Rarity felt herself crack, her narrowed eye softened and a grin came to her lips.
“There’s the Rarity I married,” Spike said kissing her on the lips. Pulling back he smoothed out the tuffs of mane that had fallen over her face while she’d been throwing pillows. “Don’t worry I’ll pick all the pillows up.” He started to move away from her when her hooves came around his neck keeping him in place.
“I should be the one, these mood swings get the better of me, darling.” Rarity said summoning up her now stronger magic. The pillows started to gather above them surrounded by her magical aura. She felt her magic straining a bit from how she’d used it earlier.
The room around them was plunged into darkness as the mass of pillows came crashing down on them.
“Well…of…all….the…” Rarity’s muffled voice came from under the pillows.
Spike stood up taking several pillows with him as they fell like boulders in a rockslide. The movement had uncovered Rarity’s head. She lifted her head and found that Spike was picking up the pillows that had fallen off the bed. He was about to pick up one of the last two pillows when a loud sound came from Rarity.
“Um…darling…I think we have a…”
Spike glanced down at the bed and noticed that some of the pillows had a darker color. His gaze shot back to Rarity. “Did you’re water…”
“I think so darling-”
Spike had her in his arms and was out the window before Rarity could finish what she was saying. He was flying for the nearest hospital.
Author's Note
I might do a part three to this, with even more comedy, having a fire-breathing foal who's half-dragon half unicorn would be quite comical.
