Fallout Equestria: Alex
Chapter 1: Hero/Protagonist
Previous ChapterNext ChapterAuthor's Note
I never got past the introduction of Fallout 3. This fanfiction was made purely out of love if Fallout: Equestria. This fanfiction also takes place in the game Ashes Town. Refrences will be made to that game and some places that were not in Fallout: Equestria will also be here (like places made just for the stories sake.) so I reccomend to play the game for a little bit first before reading. It doesn't really matter but it helps understand the context of this story.
Chapter 1: Hero/Protagonist
As the sounds of the outside world raged on, they were soon drowned out by the sounds of the music from the old world. As the record spun, Alex read this old paper over and over again. As if it were a picture of a dead relative he looked in awe of this text. He read it everytime before he went out to do his job as a Scavenger but this time he was more careful with the paper. He folded it and put it on his old, dusty desk. He got up from his chair and put on his mask. The mask smelled like cheap PVC and gasoline, but it kept his face hidden and that was good enough. He then attached his rifle to the gun-mount attached to his torso and walked out the door.
"Alright, Equestria. Let's see what you go for Uncle Alex this time..." he said profoundly. He started his way towards the local settlement. Lots of refugees and old, careless and (most importantly) rich ponies. If you want to make a quick buck as a Scavenger, you go to Ashes Town. Ashes Town in known for Stable 49 which is actually still in operation. It is also known for it's attraction for mares and colts of all walks of life which makes it a prime spot for people like Alex. People are either looking to trade, sell or steal and unfortuanetly Alex is good at all three. As Alex trotted into the town he got strange looks from some other colts. They're looks were almost angry or disgusted by his very presence. Alex brushed them off as some security or just a group of drunks looking to get a little rowdy. Soon after turning his head he heard the group following him.
Rule #4: Don't get involved.
Alex continued to walk, not turning his head despite what he was thinking. Suddenly he felt one of the colts tap on his side and he finally turned his head to look at the group. "What can I do for you, boys?" Alex said to the group. "You've got a lot of nerve showin' yer face 'round here!" excalimed one of them "We've been a-wantin' to pummel yer pretty face for some time now!" shouted another. "Oh, sweet celestia" Alex thought "I remember these saps. They must've been smarter than I thought." Alex remembered that he pickpocketed these guys about 2 or 3 trips ago. Must not have been THAT smart considering how long it took for them to notice.
"Look, fellas. I think you've got the wrong guy!" Alex responded "I was just passing through your community looking for a decent meal or two and maybe a place to sleep tonight before my journey tomorrow. Now I best be going now."
Alex turned away from the group knowing he duped them again. He smirked and chuckled a little bit underneath his gas mask.
"Hey, wait! If you're new here then how do you know we have food?" One of the colts asked.
Alex turned his head to see all of them convinced that he was their guy. Alex knew that they asked a stupid question but nonetheless he knew angering them more-so would cause problems. Alex walked closer to the colt in the front of the group.
"So, you colts think I'm a theif huh?"
The colts stared at him in agreement. Alex sighed, thinking of his next move. He figured it would be best to "throw them a bone" as they call it.
"Alright, look. Let's say I did steal your property. How about the next time I come around I give you all some handmade cider?" Alex suggested. He knew he was bullshitting them. The only question was if he succeeded.
"Did you really think that would work on us? You give us our property NOW!" the colt screamed. At this point Alex knew that this would only end with Alex beating this colt senselessly or Alex could run and hide in one of the buildings or in a crowd of some kind. Alex quickly turned around and ran away. The colts ran after him. Alex turned by a building and hid behind a stack of barrels. The colts stopped and became confused. They stopped to look for him. As one of the colts started to look near the barrels, Alex jumped out of the pile and sucker-punched the colt which slammed him onto the dirt ground. The colts heard the barrels behind them and saw the colt on the ground with a bloody face and at least one one knocked out tooth. The colts ran towards Alex but he was ready for them this time. Alex punched a colt in the stomach and another in the face soon after. The last one snuck behind him and punched him on the back of the head. Alex fell on the ground and grabbed a broken piece of wood from one of the barrels. He grabbed it and swatted at the colt. It sent the colt flying and landing about 12 feet away. Alex got up and looked at the barely concious colts.
"I tried to play ball with you fellas but you wouldn't listen. Now if you don't mind, I'm off to make some trades."
Alex turned away and started his way towards the Drunken Hoof. Here was where most of the other ponies mingled. Alex scanned the ponies he had to pick. He chose a mare on a bench just outside of the bar with a blue coat and a uniquely strange mane that spiked and curled at the very end. No matter. Maybe she just didn't care about she looked. He sat next to the mare and made his introduction.
"Greetings, Miss! I was passing through this community and I was looking to possibly make a trade?"
The mare looked at him with an annoyed look on her face.
"I take it you're one of those scavenger types?"
Alex was surprised! He was never asked this before so he didn't know how to respond. His vocal cords tried to form some kind of sentence through the thick leather of his mask but he couldn't conjour anything rather than a few mumbles. The mare reached out her hoof for a hoof-shake
"The name's Diamond Rose. Now, what're you looking to get, stranger?"
Alex shaked her hoof but was still so shocked. Once he realized she asked him a question he thought of something to say very quickly.
"O-Oh, yes! Well what do you have on you?"
Diamond Rose reached into her saddle bag to look for anything that would interest Alex. She evetually pulled out the rusted barrel of a rifle.
"I found this while passing through an old out-post. Apparently some war raged there between some raiders and just a single mare. I'll sell it to you for... 15 caps? Unless you have something else worth that much..."
Alex stared at the piece. He was struck with confusion by Diamond's story. How can one mare single-handedly take on a whole team of Raiders? Nonetheless, he wanted it whether he knew the full story or not. He knew he had about 5 things in his saddle-bag worth 15 caps but there was no way in hell he'd give them away. He reached into a hidden pocket in the bag and pulled out more or less 20 caps.
"This should be enough for the piece"
Diamond gave Alex the barrel as Alex gave Diamond the caps. Alex put the barrel into his bag and started to walk away until curiosity struck him once more. For whatever reason he was intrigued by this mysterious mare in the wastes who could take on celestia knows how many raiders at one outpost. He walked back over to Diamond.
"Sorry, Diamond was it? I'd like to know more about this item"
Diamond looked up with a very casual, laid back look on her face.
"I already did! Besides, you never even told me your name! How could I have trusted to sell you that?" Diamond questioned
Alex was starting to get a bit frustrated with Diamond Rose. But it's always important to be charming and a quick thinker when you're in situations like these.
"I apologize, Diamond Rose. The name's Alex! Now how about I take you inside buy you a drink or two and we can talk about this?"
Diamond thought about it for a minute. Possibly she knew somepony who could tell him more about this item. And a free drink's a free drink.
"Yeah, ok. I can go into some more detail and maybe tell you about someone who can tell you more about this... thingy."
Diamond got up from the bench and followed Alex into the Drunken Hoof bar.
