//-------------------------------------------------------// Cold Fangs -by Connorcooper- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Part 1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Part 1 "We are not the wolves of Fenris but they are our kin, We are not the beasts of Cruorian but we share their ferocity, We are the fangs of the Imperium and this will forever be so,"- The 627th Warbeast Regiment Creed. When the 627th Warbeasts Regiment of the Tempestus Scions were first created they were used to be an experimental unit of stormtroopers for the Inquisition. They couldn't have asked for better troops... Loyal to the emperor, Unflinching in the face of battle, and unyielding to any threat that comes before them. Many of the few Inqusitiors that knew about these loyal guardsmen would seek out and recruit them for their services. Who wouldn't want to have a warbeast bodyguard, even without their wargear the abhuman can rip through a group of traitor guardsmen with their claws and fangs. As Resourceful and reliable they might be... they aren't unkillable. Even with their specially designed armor and weapons, a bolter round from a traitor Astartes or the swift swing of a Xeno's blade can kill them like any other mortal human. Especially during an event where 1,000 of these soldiers were guarding an artifact that was being transported in a ship through the warp. It is unknown how the Gellar field failed but the ship was raided by daemons slaughtering both humans and abhumans, only five of the abhumans and ten of the ship's crew 'survived'. The rest were either killed or lost... yet these five upheld their mission and kept the artifact safe. Like Cadians, these Warbeasts are few in number and are sought out just as much if not more due to their rarity. But with every passing year, their numbers dwindle more and more. More die faster before more can be created and trained. In the 41st millennium, there is only war... and death. The red flash of the emergency light caused the occupant within to stir awake. Hissing at the sharp pain in his neck, the scion rubbed the back of his neck before looking at the machinery before him. "Frak, did I pass out?" Looking out the single window before him in the small space, upon seeing the lunar body high in the air the imperial stormtrooper guessed he had landed on a planet. But what kind of planet was he on? Hell if he should know. Looking at the small screen next to the left of the window, looking at the readings the occupant was surprised to see that the planet he was on had the reading that of a paradise world well except for one thing. This world had a high amount of unknown energy present. It didn't seem to be warp-related which could be a good or bad thing, but knowing his luck it was most likely a bad thing. What else was strange was that the device couldn't pinpoint where he was in the galaxy, but before he could read into any more about where he was the green text on the black screen suddenly cut out. "By the emperor's bones... why does every machine spirit hate me?" Dropping his head back on the seat he took a deep breath before looking out back at the moon. "Screw it," Reaching for the manual release he grabbed the lever at the top of the coffin-shaped hatch he pulled. The explosive bolts fired the hatch off the Lucius pattern escape pod before the abhuman pulled the safety harness off his body before getting up. Looking around at the landing site he was in some open field of... dead grass? Confused at the sight of the brown shriveled up grass and extremely dry soil the scion began to question if the machine spirit was wrong about the state of this world. Getting up he reached down for his backpack that was at his feet before snapping it on his backplate, unattached the power cables to the lasgun he checked for any damage in the cable connectors. Seeing none he stabbed the cables back into the bottom of the energy weapon the imperial whispered a prayer to the machine god while he did so. "Let me remain worthy of these," Looking at his surroundings he looked down at the back at the escape pod one, before shaking himself out of it. 'Focus Frost... shelter first then you can think about that later,' Getting down from the pod the Abhuman walked on the brittle soil that crunched with every step along with the dry grass. (Gaze Town) (Dead horse Tavern) Night Blaze stood mopping up the spilled blood of yet another drunk fight that got out of hand, at least the town guard made it on time for once before it spiraled out of control. Looking around at the patrons who kept on drinking not caring if a stallion was murdered ten minutes ago, with a sigh the bat pony went back to work mopping up the blood. 'I just wish for one day nobody gets killed... at least in this town,' Finishing up with the bloody mess he moved the table back over the spot it was thrown from and the chairs too, the very moment he stepped away that table got filled up with three more patrons that shot dirty glances at him for taking too long to clean up the mess. Passing by the bar his boss spoke to him. "Night can you take out the trash while you head to the back?" The bat pony nodded before walking into the employee area and grabbing the wooden barrel full of food scraps and Faust knows what else. Pushing back against the door he moved forward struggling to keep ahold of the large barrel and the mop full of cleaner mixed with blood. Going to the water bank he poured the waste from both the bucket and barrel into the brown-colored water before noticing something floating in the water. Taking a breath the silver-eyed hybrid re-entered the Tavern before placing back the mop bucket and waste barrel back in their respective places. Grabbing a jug of ale the bat pony entered the main area where one of the mares maids slapped the face of a handsy patron, flinching at the sound he placed the ale on the bar. "Thank Blaze here can you take these to table three?" Placing two ale-filled mugs. "No problem boss," Taking the mugs the bat pony didn't say anything about the body in the water. Placing them on the table Blaze walked over to the bar before looking at the recruitment poster to the queens' army, every time he saw it the bat pony was thinking about joining if that meant leaving this cursed town. Yet from what he heard about the war it didn't sound all that better than where he was now... Snapping out of his thoughts he heard it. The bell. 'Midnight... finally' Taking a breath Night Blaze walked over to the employee area and took off his apron placing it on his hook. Exiting the area he waved to his boss before leaving the Tavern and down the street, looking up at the freshly hanged body of the unicorn who stabbed the earth pony from before Night Blaze flipped the body off. Avoiding alleyways the bat pony rubbed his hands together before blowing into them to keep warm. Before turning his gaze forward down the road to the town's entrance... That was where he saw it. 'Oh no,' (Two hours later) Frost couldn't help but smile at his luck... A road! If there was a road then that would mean there were intelligent lifeforms were on this world! Sure he should celebrate just yet since they could be Xenos but then again they could be humans. Though human or not... the design of the cobblestone road, which told him this wasn't a very advanced world he was on... Probably a Feudal type world. Or possibly a world that has advanced tech but it's not as widespread. He was really hoping for that second one, that might be his only shot at getting off this rock. Inquisitor Alexis if Frost didn't make it his top priority to re-establish contact with her. Walking up the low hill the abhuman finally looked down to see a town of some kind, Frost walked down the road to this village the Scion spotted an old-looking worn road sign. The old sign looked like something was written in low gothic but it was legible from the countless years' worth of weathering, much like of the tech in the imperium the sign has seen better days. Going down the stone road up to the town hoping for information but he soon spotted something on the outside entrance to the town. It looked like a post of some kind, with something on top of it. Didn't take long for Frost to realize what it was. A head on a pike. Dead silver eyes looked forward at nothing but oblivion, clearly, this creature wasn't human from the strange bat and equine features but it gave Frost a sense of dread. From what he could tell this decapitated head wasn't surrounded by other heads or freshly skinned skulls, nor was there any marking of the blood god anywhere to be seen. Thank goodness it wasn't a blood cult or anything, well, for Frost anyway. Just a single head as if it was a warning... or an example. Looking down the entrance to the town Frost noticed some bodies on the street. The Scion then turned to leave not wanting to do with this town when he heard a scream. It sounded like a female along with male voices shouting at one another, Frost's keen hearing could pick up the voices as if he was right next to them. "The bitch bit me!" "Luthor give me the rope," "Please don't do this! That's my daughter!" "Then you should have kept her on a tighter leash old man! Now we'll have to do it for you!" "No please!" "PAPA!" "Pull her up already!" "PLEASE DON'T DO THIS!" "Hurry up and kick the damn stool!" *Snap* Turning his head back to the village Frost heard the faint snap of the young female's neck being snapped, looking back at the road ahead of him the Scion kept moving down the path down to the left of the town. He didn't have time to make enemies in this world, the best thing for him to do was not enter that town whatever the case was going on in there. It didn't matter... He needed to get as far away from whatever was happening here and find a way to contact the inquisitor or at the very least the Imperium. Like the inquisitor once said: 'Don't get in the middle of unnecessary affairs its only a waste of time' Moving down the stone street he came to a crossroads to see a four-way sign with one to on the right was missing, looking at it he could actually read this one unlike the sign from before. 'Razor Valley or Ponyville?' Looking to his left to 'Razor Valley' before looking down the road in front of him to 'Ponyville' he thought for a moment before turning to his left to this 'Razor Valley'. 'When in doubt go left... that's how the old saying goes right?' Moving down away from the town with the moon of this world looming above his head while his helm's green lenses allowed him to see where he was going without the need of his flashlight. Probably for the best to keep a low profile and not draw too much attention to himself. He just needed to find a vox and get off this mudball. This place was giving Frost the uncomfortable feeling... more than his time on Necromunda way back when. Those Van Saar guys were actually pretty chill for a bunch of tech-heads, they did have pretty cool armor. Wish he got one of those fancy undersuits that would have been nice or at the very least one of those spider servo skulls... that would be cool to have one of those that one that KT-3260 had. 'I wonder how Klee is doing,' Author's Note The man finally after what? Nearly a year(-ish) Frost is back and what's this? Actual lore and-! No big already existing furry characters! Say what!!! To be honest, though it was time I got serious with the character since you know I commissioned this: https://camo.fimfiction.net/ij1XBG1qKcNHEVGw8TbDUV4aUKgXR5GzDkuuUF6RWQk?url=https%3A%2F%2Fimages-wixmp-ed30a86b8c4ca887773594c2.wixmp.com%2Ff%2Fc5956089-ecb3-4ee9-8b87-bdaa8d0724e7%2Fdeyry9i-441913ce-4a98-4d67-b2f2-4abd8a35381c.png%2Fv1%2Ffill%2Fw_902%2Ch_886%2Cq_70%2Cstrp%2Fcommission__frost__by_alex_kellar_deyry9i-pre.jpg%3Ftoken%3DeyJ0eXAiOiJKV1QiLCJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJzdWIiOiJ1cm46YXBwOjdlMGQxODg5ODIyNjQzNzNhNWYwZDQxNWVhMGQyNmUwIiwiaXNzIjoidXJuOmFwcDo3ZTBkMTg4OTgyMjY0MzczYTVmMGQ0MTVlYTBkMjZlMCIsIm9iaiI6W1t7ImhlaWdodCI6Ijw9MTI1OCIsInBhdGgiOiJcL2ZcL2M1OTU2MDg5LWVjYjMtNGVlOS04Yjg3LWJkYWE4ZDA3MjRlN1wvZGV5cnk5aS00NDE5MTNjZS00YTk4LTRkNjctYjJmMi00YWJkOGEzNTM4MWMucG5nIiwid2lkdGgiOiI8PTEyODAifV1dLCJhdWQiOlsidXJuOnNlcnZpY2U6aW1hZ2Uub3BlcmF0aW9ucyJdfQ.dNYg4IOOmRw8zhGIIon1Aj7SHHv431qKA0xX89ENv5o Alex did a great job and I'm glad to see Frost in a solid form of some kind! Sure not was I expecting but this is my first comm of an OC of mine! Hopefully, you guys understand why a Panzar-officer is a cover. I based Frost's armor off of Deadzone, Jin-Roh, Resident evil, and 40k of course. Hopefully, in the future, I do another commission with Frost all armored up (though his tail should have been armored but that's alright! Till then. (3/25/2022: Anyone for Editing?) //-------------------------------------------------------// Part 2 //-------------------------------------------------------// Part 2 "STAND GUARDSMAN!" Frost leaned against his chainsword using it to prop himself up, as the heretic traitor stood before him. The red and gold clad traitor smiled with a set of filed pointed teeth. "Stand and show me what you'll do in that corpse's name!" Growling the abhuman pushed himself to his feet, the word bearer gave an amused look at the wounded hybrid before him. "Yessssss that's right stand... come at me... let us fight guardsman... let me send your soul to the gods!" Holding his power maul in both hands the traitor would be lying if he wasn't impressed by the will and furiously of these so-called 'warbeasts'. For a bunch of vat-born mutants made by the dying Imperium, he couldn't help but think back during the heresy when he fought against the Solar Auxilia. He can almost feel a sense of nostalgia come to his mind while his two hearts begin to beat in excitement. He was going to enjoy breaking this literal dog! Kicking off his feet Frost rushed at the heretic astartes who began to laugh raising his maul in the air but felt a sharp snap come from his hand. "WHAT?!" The word bearer's power maul was thrown from his hand while his fingers were shot off. The warbeast only had his chainsword, he had no ranged weapon! Only a second later he felt his left leg buckle from another ranged attack that went through the gap in his armor and destroyed his knee. Falling down the word bear looked up to see scope glint... but that was a mile away! No mortal man can make that shot unless. Another abhuman?! "AHHHHHHH!" Looking down he watched the foe in front of him swinging his blade but it didn't have the strength of a astartes behind it only stopping at the bone of his neck. "C-c-coward... letting others-" Frost pulled the trigger to his chainsword as the teeth began to slice into the neck silencing the Astartes. Pulling his chainsword from the neck he swing to his left this time before swinging it to the undamaged side of the neck while the traitor weakly reached for him. While the flesh of the neck was ripped away only leaving the damaged hardened bone of the spine and threads of red flesh barely holding his head in place. "You wanted to see what I would do in the emperor's name," Grabbing his head the Astartes felt a pull on his sensitive nerve under his spine. "Let me show you then," Pulling at the balled heavily tattooed head of the traitor with barely anything from stopping him Frost ripped the head off of the heavily damaged neck of the fallen astartes. Holding the dripping head of the traitor the warbeast exhaled. 'That was too close,' "I'll be damned, lad, you took your bloody time in killing that traitor," Turning to the rattling who casually resting on some fallen rubble with a freshly lit Lho-Stick in his mouth and hands behind his head. "How in all the hells did you get here so damn fast Praz?" "Trade secret mutt now you done here or what? Boss lady looking for us," The short abhuman stated. "Yeah yeah hold on," Bagging the head of the traitor Frost placed his chain shoulder lightly on his shoulder. "Nice shooting by the way," "Nothing to it... kill one traitor brute, the rest just kinda fall into place," The Rattling got down to join him. "So there is this bar hole in the wall back in the hive that I know about and-" "No Praz..." Frost began to walk while the Rattling quickly caught up. "Aw come on long legs with your body the ladies will fall head over heals over you," "I said no Praz," *Snap* Lifting his sidearm up and pointing it to the source of the sound, the Scion sighed upon seeing a blackbird digging into the ground most likely looking for bugs to eat. Giving a sigh Frost leaned his head back against the hollowed tree he was resting on before looking up at the orange-colored sky. At least it was daytime now... Holstering his precious volkite serpenta, the warbeast rose up from his resting spot and looked up at the sky seeing the planet's star almost in the middle of sky. 'Damn... either this planet's rotation is fast or I slept in... I'm so glad Sargent Beo isn't here.' Holding his lasgun he walked down back to the road and began to follow it once again. For a place called 'Razor valley' he was expecting it to be well... a valley and to have something to do with razors. Honestly, he was kind of glad there wasn't anything sharp trying to stab him. Just a lot of dead dried-up tree husks and barely any grass. Maybe at one point, the grass was so sharp that it could actually cut someone's foot? How should he know? He's not a Genetor of mars... sure he was created by those red-robed tech-priests but he knew nothing when it came to flora than the basics. Going down the cobblestone road till he came across a primitive wagon that lost one of it's wheels. "Oh no no no... why did this happen now?" His sharp hearing picked up the voice of someone behind the wagon. Frost thought for a moment what to do. This wasn't a trap from the looks of it, the trees weren't the best places to take cover and hide plus their branches couldn't hold anything more than a pound without breaking from the looks of it. Plus it might take him a while to get anywhere while only on foot might as well help this person out and get some form of transport to a local area that might have the technology he can use to call for extraction. "Excuse me," Frost spoke causing the person who was under the wagon to bang their head against the wooden frame. "Oh faust! Owwwwww," Pulling out from the underbelly of the wagon the warbeast was slightly taken aback at what he saw. An equine humanoid. Honestly from the thing he saw last night, he wasn't fully surprised at this humanoid being. "Look if you're coming to rob me your too late someone already beat you to it," The light blue female equine spoke rubbing her horned head. "If you are going to rape me don't even try it, I'll cut your dick off," Feeling his legs shift slightly at the sound of that. "I think you have the wrong impression civi- miss... I'm wondering if you need help fixing your wheel," This caused the White-haired equine to stare at him. "Okay... what do you really want tough guy," "Um, transport to any local settlement," "Yeah, yeah. Look pal with that armor and whatever the rest of that stuff I doubt you in it for a ride to town," The equine stated. "I'm not lying miss," Frost said. "I'm willing to help you out in exchange for transport," The Equine blinked almost surprised slightly. "Alright... if you wanna help pick up that side so I can put the new wheel on," Nodding Frost hooked his lasgun to his side before using both hands and picking the wooden wagon up with ease. "Well damn. Hold it there let's just put this on," Frost watched while holding the painted wood in place while the equine humanoid female began to put the replacement wheel on. "So where are you heading to?" The equine asked not looking away from her work. The Scion thought for a moment before coming up with an excuse. "Ponyville," If he could hit himself he would think how stupid that sounds out loud if he... "Oh really? You going to see the mage festival?" The equine asked to pull a tool to tighten the bolts. "Yes," 'DAMN IT FROST WHAT ARE YOU DOING!' "Huh well count yourself lucky I'm heading there myself," Tightening the bolts she got up before picking up the damaged wheel and tools. "I'm actually a part of the festival... I just hope that I make up the money that I was robbed of," Lowering the wagon down he looked at her. "Cutthroats are a big thing around here?" Which the equine nodded. "Gangers, Raiders, Trappers, yeah but at least if you give them what they want they'll leave you alone for the most part," She said putting the tools back. "Where you from stranger?" 'Oh boy ummmm... think of something,' "Terra," 'By the throne Frost! Are you fraking stupid!' "Never heard of it," Frost felt his body relax while the equine got onto the front and grabbed a... steering wheel? "Hope on hotshot were burning daylight," She held out her hand to him before he took it and got onboard sitting next to her. "So got a name?" The warbeast thought for a moment before speaking. "Name's Frost Loken. You?" "Trixie Lulamoon magical performer," Trixie held out her hand for a handshake while the Scion took it and shook her hand. "It's finally nice to meet someone decent for once," She then pulled a lever to the wagon she was on before the wagon rocked before moving forward on its own, surprised to see a wooden device like this move without a visible engine it made him wonder what kind of technology was at work here. It kind of made him relax knowing this world did have some technology maybe even something similar to a vox. "So Mr. Loken what's your story?" "Nothing much just your local drifter," Frost lied which caused Trixie to chuckle slightly. "With that armor? Not many people want to mess with you if I had to take a guess," Frost moved his head slightly. "Most sane people at least," Frost corrected. "Fair enough," "What's your story?" The scion asked. Trixie shrugged. "Had a knack for magic and always been on the road nothing too special about it," Trixie answered. "Go to town to town performing some magic shows... pays for food you know. Girl gotta eat," At the mention of food Frost's stomach growled at him. "As grateful that I am for you helping me this ride doesn't include any food... besides I don't have any," "Fair enough," (Ponyville) Rolling into town the two looked forward at the much lively town of Ponyville, Vendors were selling their goods, and equines in metal armor walked about. "Huh... what an interesting place," Frost said aloud before Trixie nodded. "Ponyville is one of the lesser slums in Equestria the guard here actually do their job and are less corrupt than most towns," Trixie turned the corner in her wagon. "It's famous for the apple farms hard cider... and it's actually made from real healthy apples but expensive as hell," "Is it good?" Trixie nodded. "Had a bottle once not bad stuff but not the price I would pay for it," Moving deeper into town the Scion saw that this area didn't have any vendor but wagons like Trixie's own wagon and performers doing different stunts. "Here we are the mage fenstival," Trixie said. "Best keep your valuables close some of these guys will pickpocket you while you're not looking," Parking the Waggon at an empty spot Trixie before looking at Frost. "Thanks for your help Frost but if you don't mind I need to unpack," "Any time," Getting off the wagon Frost watched while Trixie got down herself and pulled out a long wooden stage from the side of the wagon. Walking forward the Scion looked about the many stalls and performers. If he didn't know better he says he just stepped into a den of witches... yet the closer he looked the more flaws he spotted out. One equine humanoid was spitting something out of his mouth to make it look like he was creating more fire from a torch while another was using the sleight of hand to fool others. He then noticed someone looking at him, they wore a robe around their shoulders and had a hood up but Frost could see the face of a canine looking at him with a slight smile. Slightly baffled at what he saw Frost was about to walk over to but a voice spoke. "Have your future read! The cards can predict your fate!" Turning his head to a vendor Frost turned back to the canine but the spot was empty. Blinking in surprise Frost then looked at the equine who spoke before shrugging walking over to the stall. "Ahhh weary traveler comes close! My eyes aren't what they used to be," The old fortune-teller spoke, Frost did so. "My your armor is a quite menacing traveler but one can never be too prepared these days," "Are you a Tarot reader?" Frost asked seeing the deck of cards in the old mare's hand. "Yes, I am a traveler. so was my grandmother and my mother before me would you like to see what the cards have to say?" The old equine asked. "I don't have any money," "No worries traveler I don't do it for money and besides the cards tell me you have quite a path before you," Spoke the Fortune teller. "Sit let's see what the cards have for you," Frost looked down before sitting down on the small wooden crate placing his lasgun in his lap. The woman read and pulled a card from the deck before flipping it over. On the card was a picture of a jester on a cliff with an instrument of some kind in hand and a white mask on his face. "The fool... it seems your journey is only at its start or maybe you are given a new beginning to start anew," Frost shifted seeing the picture on the card move as the jester took a bow. She then placed a card of crowded masked begin in golden robes over a large black pot upside down. "The king of cauldrons... you have a great respect for an authority figure who was is very ambitious," Seeing the card moved it's hand to scop a red liquid from the large cauldron at his feet. The next card was of a being standing alone in a field not facing outward. "The lone man... there was a great loss in your life and it lingers with you," The fortune-teller looks up at Frost while he looked back but then looked back down to the card, watching them hang his head down low. Putting down the next card the old woman smiled at the sight of the being in a dress while wearing a blank mask while another held them in a velvet robe wearing a similar blank mask. "The lover... seems like you some love in your future perhaps to mend your pain," The fortune-teller stated while the two on the card lovely embraced one another. Picking up the two cards the old woman smiled. "I can see now why the cards were interested with you," The old woman stated before a young equine walked forward. "Grandma please you shouldn't be out here come back inside," The equine stated before looking at Frost slightly aback by his armor. "Sorry, my grandmother isn't all there anymore. Come on Grandma let's get you inside," "Oh, my dear grandson I was only helping out this kind young traveler," "Yeah, yeah, it's not safe out here grandma some can steal our family tarot cards!" Frost stood up watching the Equine take the elder inside the large wagon before Frost got up before walking forward into the crowd again. Author's Note Where here you guys go! Another chapter and Frost has made it to Ponyville! Forgive my Tarot card reading I'm a bit new to it but I always want to do a kind fortune teller thing in one of my stories and I do apologize if I'm incorrect with them. Then again Equestira Tarot cards can be different to our own... heck in 40k there are Tarot cards that the emperor himself made. I am not joking you can look that up. As for that hooded figure well... she'll come back you can count on it. But as a friend? Or Foe. Maybe. What else... ummmm... Right something big will happen next chapter and what else... Ah yeah Frost's armor and stuff... I mean this is a dark fantasy world sure his armor is quite menacing but people wearing armor is kind of the normal. Though I couldn't help but think of Skyrim where you get the daedric armor and people are like; "Whoa what kind of armor is that!" 🤣 Now then hopefully you enjoyed this and be seeing you in the next one, peace.
