What’s your favourite colour?
Red is my favourite colour.
Although, now I think about it, I love all of them. (Red is just the best one). Colour makes me feel happy and safe, the brighter the better! That’s probably why I am scared of the dark.
There’s orange, which I associate with happiness. When ponies get me down, I find something orange to cheer me up. Yellow is for sweetness, so I get nice flappy feelings in my stomach when I find something yellow. Green’s confidence and blue’s innocence, which I think is the perfect combination.
Pink reminds me of an old friend of mine, who I can’t really see anymore, which is sad. More about her later. And purple is deep and intelligent-sounding, which is always fun.
Red is the colour of strawberries, which is my favourite food. Red is the colour of love: I’ve always enjoyed romance novels. And Red is the colour of bloo-

Anyway, ever since I was a filly, my goal was to be surrounded by as much colour as possible. I come from a very colourful family, my dad working at the rainbow factory and my mum being a painter. That’s something I was always very happy about. I, annoyingly, am all different shades of black, grey, and white, which always makes me feel uncomfortable.
And that’s everypony’s main journey in life, isn’t it? To be happy. Everything that somepony could ever want can be eventually traced back to happiness. That’s why we’re all chasing it all the time. Everypony has a different definition of happiness. So what if my method of being happy is different as well?
The most beautiful colours that I’ve seen in Equestria are from pony hides. So I’ve devoted myself to finding a way to get the colour out. I tried EVERYTHING. Sometimes I needed to do some things my test subjects didn’t really like, but HEY, at least they got to join in with my games! I’m so organised they didn’t even ask why I needed to borrow them!
I tried paint, syringes, flypaper, glue, paper towels... all the things I could think of to get my hand on pony colours. It’s a shame I’m not a pegasus, they seem to automatically know everything about colour. And a unicorn could use a spell to get the it out. But I’m only an earth pony, and I just take whatever I can get.
Then one day, I got a really good idea. I never really cared about getting my cutie mark because I was too wrapped up in my other schemes. So when I got a bit older, all of the foals in my class already had theirs. A couple of them were a bit mean to me, but I didn’t mind. It’s not like they had something PHYSICAL that can save them from their fears and doubts, like I have colour.
That day, however, the foals were all admiring a filly named Pink Pearl’s cutie mark. Pink was new at school, but already knew most of the ponies there. She was instantly popular, and I could see why.
That filly’s coat was a beautiful pink colour, and I suddenly thought, Her. She’s the pony who’s gonna help me get my colours.
At school, I was preoccupied all day because I was thinking about Pink. I had my plan all worked out in my head, and was ready to put it into effect the moment we walked outside at the end.
On the way home, Pink was walking alone. All of her other friends lived on the other side of town, but I didn’t. I walked up to her, with a little dress on so that she wouldn’t be put off by my blank flank.
I acted all starstruck and cute, and Pink bought it. I asked how she became so popular, and managed to steer her onto my street when she was lost in her boastful chatting. When we got to my house, she asked, “Why are we here?” and I told her that it was an accident because I was listening to her so closely.
Pink invited herself in. I showed her around my back garden, and let her look in the shed. For a couple of minutes it was like we were actually friends, and I wasn’t going to do what I was going to in a few minutes. I kind of considered just letting her go, and finding my cutie mark instead. But then the sun caught her pristine pink fur, and I thought: Nah.
While Pink Pearl was looking around, I locked the door behind us. “Why’s the door closed?” Pink asked. I giggled. And hit her on the head with a block of wood.
When Pink woke up, I had tied her hooves to the ground. She asked what was going on, so I told her. My new way of finding colours was to take them away from ponies manually. So I held up a knife, and started slicing the skin away from her muscle.
It worked amazingly. I hid Pink’s body in a little pit I dug underneath the shed, and hid the stink with the strongest-smelling flowers I could find. My parents were happy that I liked gardening , and I’ve done it that way ever since.
That’s how I got my cutie mark. It’s a rainbow-coloured flower, and the bottom of it’s stem is razor sharp. I’m really proud of it. I live in my own house now, and I still put the bodies under my flower garden. It gives the flowers a nice smell, and makes the petals brighter.
The interior of my house has carpets and blankets and furry items all over the place, and it’s like a rainbow threw up. Nopony ever suspects where the rugs and stuff came from. Sometimes my hobby can be a bit messy but I don’t mind, because the mess is almost always all red.
And Red is my favourite colour.

I read Captain Hook The Biker Gorilla, and then this happened. Probably bad since it’s my first time writing something on here.
It took SO DARN LONG to write this, you don’t even KNOW. I had written out the whole thing like three times and it didn’t save and just deleted itself UGH.
This might be unconsciously describing what synesthesia feels like, especially the second paragraph, but I’m too tired right now to care what I was describing with this.
