Rarity could just feel it. Try as she might she wasn’t able to shake the feeling. What it could be had her mind racing with ideas. She stomped her hoof in protest. “This is crazy and so unladylike.” Spike was helping her in the shop, and he’d heard what she said out of the blue. “Problems Rarity? Rarity covered her mouth with a hoof when she realized she’d said that out loud. She glanced over at Spike, he was older now and as tall as any adult pony was. Just a glance at him had her heart beating a bit faster. “Forgive me Spikey.” Spike studied her for a bit and noticed a difference in those sapphire eyes of hers. “For what?” He kept his large wings at his sides. “You look troubled.” “Spike-” He held up a claw cutting her off. “Don’t. I know you better than anypony, remember?” His emerald gaze locked on hers. “Right?” Rarity had to tighten the muscles in her legs to keep them from wanting to give out. Spike watched the white fur on her cheeks start to take on a pink hue. I’ve learned a thing or two from you over the years. He thought to himself while he grinned. “If nothing’s wrong, then why are you blushing?” “You know perfectly well-” Rarity clamped her mouth shut. Spike took a few steps closer to her and he realized that she was right next to a wall. “I’m sorry, what was that?” The redness in Rarity’s cheeks deepened. She took a few more steps back and felt her rump bump against the wall behind her. Spike had taken a few more steps closer to her, those emerald eyes never wavering from her. She could feel the heat of his body reaching out to her. Think Rarity…if you can manage that. It’s just his gaze… “I think I know the problem,” Spike said setting down in front of her. Look at all the times you’ve batted your eyes at him. Rarity thought. So, this is payback? “Do…um…tell Spikey.” “I can tell you already know; it’s written all over your face.” He heard her voice catch while she tried to talk. “It’s…I’m…” She took in a deep breath and let out. “You caught me off guard.” “I could tell,” Spike replied with a smile. “Sorry, Rarity.” “Don’t be darling. Look at all the times I did the same thing with you.” “Yeah, I remember. You’ve taught me well.” Rarity smiled at what he’d said. “I guess I have, a little too well.” She admitted and half-closed her eyes at Spike. She reached out and ran her nose along the side of his neck. Spike’s body instantly froze at the sensation going through his body now. Rarity pulled back and was face to face with a red-cheeked dragon. “Problems dear?” “Ra…” Spike stuttered, with steam floating through the air. “I’m sorry, darling what was that?” Rarity couldn’t help it when a giggle escaped her throat. Glancing down she noticed Spike's claw was holding onto her hoof. Her gaze lifted back up to him and her eyelids were half-closed. Spike had finally found his voice again. “Are you glad you slipped up earlier?” Spike asked keeping his claw where it was. “You’re defiantly not objecting.” Rarity said scooting her body closer to him when a thought struck her. Did I do this on purpose? I had to of. Coming to the realization she felt a weight lift off of her shoulders. “Not when I’ve waited so long for this. I hoped it would eventually happen. I just was never sure how to go about it.” Spike confessed. Rarity lowered her head slightly and muttered something. “What was that, Rarity?” Spike couldn’t quite catch what she said. “I said same here.” She felt the tip of a claw lift her head back up, her gaze fell upon those eyes of his. There’s no going back… “Spikey…” “Yes…” His voice trailed off as he leaned and claimed her lips with his. He felt one of her hooves come up and rest on his shoulder. Rarity found the heat of his lips to be like heaven and she found herself responding to his as she kissed him back. No going back, nor do I want to… Spike pulled back with his head spinning and starts dotting his vision. “So, this is truly heaven. I know because I am beside a beautiful angel.” Rarity felt her cheeks redden at those words. “You’ve always been a romantic.” “Say’s the unicorn who always batted her eyes at me whenever she’d get the chance or call me Spikey-Wikey or precious scales. I know it wasn’t your way of confessing to me back then.” “Right, I wouldn’t allow myself. I knew if I waited, you’d mature...” Rarity said. “And your feelings for me would only deepen over time,” Spike added. “Wow, you really know me.” Both of them said at the exact same time, sounding more like a single voice. At first, their eyes widened, and that caused a laugh from both of them. “I know my slip up wasn’t by accident.” Rarity admitted and added. “I just could tell something must happen today.” “I had a feeling,” Spike said. “It’s drove me crazy for years too.” “Well, we do spend a lot of time together.” Rarity said. “Yeah, and most ponies already thought we were together,” Spike added, knowing she’d heard the mummers as he had. “However, it was always up to us.” Rarity said rubbing her cheek up against his. “Right and our friends are going flip.” Spike smiled at her; he was enjoying the feeling of her soft fur on his scales. “Definitely, darling, saying something like, ‘It’s about time you two.’” Rarity said and then smiled. Spike laughed at that. “I do know as long as we’re happy, they’ll be happy for us.” They both picture what their future would hold. They knew it would be something wonderful and magical.
