Twilight wants to try something new. She joins a racing team. But in the third race something goes horribly wrong which sends Twilight on a very small line between life and death.

Story inspired by the 1994 San Marino GP but it's (some sort of) the good ending of Senna's and Ratzenberger's crash

Good ending?!

Twilight has gotten interested in Motorsports and she decides to try it. She has joined the Wind racing team to compete in the Equestrian Motorsports championship. The first two races resulted in a DNF for Twilight which leaves her without any points so far... Then there is the one race that could start a comeback.
"Get in there Twilight" Applejack cheers.
"you're on Pole Position again" Rainbow Dash cheers.
"uhm... She's on provisional pole" Fluttershy mentions. Suddenly there's a red flag. There was a huge shunt in Turn 11. Orland Ratzenberger has badly crashed and red flags were waved. The session got interrupted and didn't restart because the timer ran out. A few hours later, the announcement was made that Orland Ratzenberger has died.

"are you sure you're going to race Twilight? Ratzenberger has died!!!" Pinkie said in fear.
"I'm absolutely sure" Twilight answered. "What should go wrong?!"
"You could crash and die as well darling" Rarity said.
"it won't happen. I asked Pinkie Pie if she can give me the best gift ever and she agreed" Twilight responded.
Fluttershy started crying. "I can't imagine you being dead in your race car" the yellow Pegasus cried.
"Racing is dangerous. Either you accept the risk or you don't race." Rainbow Dash says in a harsh voice.
"you're right Rainbow" Twilight says. "I haven't become a racing driver just to quit after 3 races..." the Unicorn adds.
"that's the Twilight we know" Applejack said. "we'll see us tomorrow."

it's race day and Twilight just finished the usual routine every race driver does. Good thing she has read a lot about racing and the consequences of a crash. She knows that a crash can kill her but that's the risk...
"ready for the race Twilight?" Rainbow Dash asks.
"I'm absolutely ready" Twilight answers.

At race start there's a huge crash on the grid which causes injury to some Viewers and Marshalls. The safety car had come out. "Can the safety car go faster please? my tyres are cooling down too much!!!" Twilight says.
"the safety car will come in this lap" one of her teammates says through the radio.

Lap 5 has started and Twilight gets hunted down by an Belloni and this fight should last only two laps...
"that Belloni is right on my rear" Twilight says. "unbelievable... I thought we have the best car"
"it's also the driver Twilight..." a teammate says.

In lap 7... Twilight goes straight into the wall at about 210 km/h but the angle is about 45° relative to the wall.

"Are you okay Twilight?" a teammate asks. But there's no response. "Twilight can you hear me?"
No response again. A carriage lands on the track after the race is red flagged.
"Oh no... This is not good..." Applejack says.
Rainbow Dash sees Twilight tilting her head to the left. The Pegasus starts crying.
"Rainbow, what's wrong?!" Fluttershy asks worried.
"Twilight... She-She's... She's dead..." Rainbow Dash answers.
"no... no... not her please... please not her as well..." Pinkie Pie cried.

Twilight was brought into a hospital not far away from the track. The Belloni driver Lightning Schumacher wins the race after the full distance has been completed. A few days later, Applejack noticed a strange behavior in Rainbow Dash." Ah' know Rainbow... It's hard to believe but... We lost her..." Applejack said with a sad voice.
"I don't want to live without Twilight... I can't imagine it..." Rainbow Dash cried.

Suddenly, Pinkie Pie came in rushing towards the two mares. "YOU NEED TO COME TO THE HOSPITAL RIGHT NOW!!!!" Pinkie Pie said in her usual hyperactive voice.
"Pinkie, how in all of Equestria can you deal with this?!" Applejack asks.
"Fluttershy and Rarity are there as well and they talked with the doctors and they said that Twilight could survive but it's unlikely" Pinkie Pie said in a hopeful voice.

The mane 5 rushed over to the hospital and encountered Nurse Redheart near the room where Twilight is. "how are the conditions? Is she going to survive? " Spike asks.
"we aren't sure yet but if we get further information, we will come back to you" Nurse Redheart answers. Hours feel like days but a few weeks later, the unbelievable thing has happened. Orland Ratzenberger has survived the crash. The Monitor had malfunctioned and the doctors declared him falsely for dead. "Ratzenberger's alive!!!" Applejack said in a cheerful voice.
"Let's hope Twilight comes back too..." Fluttershy says sadly.

a few months later in the hospital, Nurse Redheart fights against the death of Twilight Sparkle.

"there we go!!! Now all what we need is to hope" Spike says.
"it must work... Wait..." Nurse Redheart says, noticing that something is wrong with the Monitor. After she fixes the issue, the Monitor works fine and the screen doesn't show a straight line. "Spike, get the others right now!!!" Nurse Redheart says whilst cheering and suddenly starts crying. "EU NÃO ACREDITOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!"

When Spike went to tell the Mane 5, Twilight has already waken up. "where am I? Am I dead?!" the Alicorn says in confusion.
"no you're in the Canterlot Hospital, you're lucky you've survived this" Nurse Redheart said. "you had a big crash in the Appleloosa GP. We assume that the steering column has failed" she adds.
"Who's driving in the next race?! Who's my replacement?!" Twilight asks.
"it's Ailton Senna" Applejack answers.
"wait, did you just say Senna?!" Twilight asks. "I saw Ayrton Senna and he said that I should quit racing and I'm going to do that." she adds.
"besides, I haven't seen Rainbow Dash in a while... Probably because of you Twilight" Fluttershy says.
"I need to see her..." Twilight says worried.

A few weeks later, Twilight was eventually released from the hospital and heads over to Rainbow Dash's house.

"Rainbow Dash, are you in there?" Twilight says with a soft voice. She can hear sobs coming from the inside of the house. Twilight enters the house. Rainbow Dash looks towards the entrance. "Twilight?! You-You're- you're..." Rainbow Dash runs towards her friend and breaks down into tears. Twilight puts her hooves and her wings around Rainbow Dash. "it's okay Rainbow... I'm here..." The Alicorn says.
"I THOUGHT YOU DIED!!!! I REMEMBER THE NEWS WHEN AYRTON DIED!!!!" Rainbow Dash cries. She cries harder. "I'm sorry for wasting your time Twilight... I really am. When Fluttershy, Applejack, Pinkie and Rarity saw me like that, they failed to do their tasks... ALL BECAUSE OF ME!!! WHY DID THEY COME TO CHECK UP ON ME?!" Rainbow hugs Twilight even tighter. "I don't want to lose you" the Pegasus cried. Twilight started to tear up. "It's not your fault... The Steering Column has failed... But I had luck. Also Orlad has survived either. I saw him leaving the hospital" Twilight said Crying. "also they care about you, just like I do. Also I've decided to quit racing. I don't want to die so soon"

A few days later, the Mane 6 met continued their Teaching in the school of Friendship and Orland Ratzenberger has visited the School of Friendship for a all new class subject
