Sonic Enters A New Generation: Legend of the Elements
Magic Vs Speed
Previous ChapterTwilight's Castle:
The group of five ponies all left the cutie map room with both Optimism and Confusion. They were optimistic about taking on another villain and bringing peace back to their home, however they were confused from why Twilight was so insistent on Sonic staying behind. Was there something important that only he had to know? Or was it something else? Whatever it was, it made them feel extra anxious about the situation potentially getting worse.
Izzy couldn't take the silence anymore. "Am I the only one who's curious about what's happening with Sonic?" She asked with slight desperation hanging in her voice.
The others immediately faced towards their unicorn friend all showing equal amounts of bewilderment, with Pipp showing the most of it as if she would freak out. "Izzy we're all wanting to know what is happening with both of them, but it's not our place to know. If Twilight feels the need to talk privately with him then so be it." Zipp replied making sure there was no room for further discourse.
"I know." Izzy admitted hanging her head low.
Sunny approached her friend's side giving a friendly side bump. "Hey, don't be like that. Twilight isn't going to hurt him, it's just a little talk. Besides even if does turn ugly, Sonic will find a way out somehow..." She then grimaced, "...even if it's really stupid and dangerous."
Izzy lifted her head again after hearing that. "Yeah you're right Sunny. Afterall it's just one conversation."
Pipp on the other hoof didn't exactly feel the same hope. "A conversation that could be so important, that it may just be life changing."
Zipp looked at her sister with suspicion once more. "And what would make it so life changing? You seem extra concerned Pipp, do you want to talk about it?" she pressed carefully, knowing what her sister truly felt.
Pipp immediately grew red in the face as she shook her head to get rid of it. "Nope. Nothing to speak of!" She then took off ahead of the group as they all stared with wide eyes from the sudden change in tone.
Hitch who'd been silent couldn't think of a proper response and simply said the thing that was on his mind. "Well that's new."
Twilight's Castle: Cutie Map
Both Sonic and Twilight stood in complete silence as the blue hue from the map, bounced off the fur on their bodies. Sonic crossed his arms, staring at the ancient ruler with what seemed at first to be intrigue but it slowly morphed into annoyance as she hadn't spoken giving him a blank stare. He began tapping his left finger on his right arm which was loud enough for the alicorn to hear without problem, it soon got faster and faster with each second eventually stopping all together until it started producing from below. His foot tapped the ground as he tried to respectfully wait for Twilight to speak to him about whatever it was that was important, only for her silence to start actively aggravating him overtime, eventually with him simply groaning loudly for all the castle to hear as his arms dropped to his sides, and his head faced up at the ceiling.
"Is this your version of the silent game?" He asked finally running out of patience.
"Are you always impatient with everypony you meet?" She retorted back immediately, making Sonic raise a brow.
He crossed his arms once more, showing he was clearly not wanting to waste any more time. "No, not really. Just annoyed with how you decided to not say anything for so long." He spoke smugly.
Twilight's face didn't falter from his insult. "It was only to test you." She remarked with a smirk herself.
Sonic however wasn't in the mood, as he waved his hand dismissively trying to get to the next point. "Yeah, yeah, whatever. Let's just get this over with so I can rejoin my friends."
Twilight dropped her smirk as if she had heard him wrong. "You don't seem to treat them as such."
He chuckled at her accusation, placing his right fist on his hip staring at the floor disappointed. "One often tends to confuse banter and jokes, for insults and jabs no matter how small it is..."
He eyed her with the same disappointment he carried, completely fine with what he'd say next, "...especially for those who are... out of place."
His words really stung for Twilight, the literal jab at her existence right now couldn't have been clearer if he had tried to. And the worse part was that she couldn't deny what he said as false, cause truth was layered within them and he was sure to let her know that. "You may want to think before you speak hedgehog, otherwise someone who isn't as stoic as me would rip you apart the moment the chance is available."
He once again pushed it to the side. "Uh huh. Anyway, why did you want me to stay back out of everyone? I figured Sunny would be more important." He said, as he pointed his thumb in the direction of which Sunny and the others had gone.
Twilight regaining her composure sighing. "It's because you're a threat to us all." she stated with a firm tone.
Sonic only stared with a blank face before speaking one word on his mind, that's probably on yours right now. "What?"
Twilight’s face didn’t falter in the slightest as she stared him down, not giving him a moment to think that she was lying. “Your presence alone has too many chaotic factors, that could jeopardize the defeat of Opaline.”
Sonic looked like he just entered a new dimension, as he stared with utter disbelief at the words coming from the alicorn's mouth at the moment. He was a threat. What does that even mean? "Can you be more specific please, because I definitely am not a threat to my friends for your information." He pointed his finger accusingly.
Twilight however ignored it. “It doesn’t matter, your presence here and now is causing major changes to this universe as we speak.”
Sonic was beyond irritated by the nonsense he was hearing, it seemed really weird for someone like Twilight to say especially after all of Sunny’s geek out moments. “You know what? For somepony like you, to gaslight me for something I have no control over while you aren’t consistent on your morals is just laughable.
“I’m going to go after my friends and protect them from getting hurt, smell ya later oh ancient ruler.” He turned away with a mocking salute with his hand, making a quickened pace towards the door so he could get distance away from this psycho.
Suddenly a beam passed right by his head, hitting the wall ahead of him. This forced Sonic to spin on his feet to face the lavender alicorn, who’s horn was glowing brightly as she stood in a steady position ready to face him.
“Let’s see if you’re ready to tackle your lesson.”
Ponyville:
The group had made it back outside and to say they were just standing in a row like soldiers would be an understatement, their faces blank, postures still and rigid, wind blowing pass their fur seeming to have no effect on them as a whole... Yeah they definitely were bored. "Now I understand why he gets impatient so fast." Hitch remarked.
Sunny faced him with a look scrutiny. "You can't be serious Hitch. There's no way you are that bored, after only being outside for two minutes. We just have to wait patiently, like how we were taught to do." She stated getting back into position.
seconds passed as they kept standing in place, the wind still blowing calmly. A tumbleweed bounced on by as the silence was slowly getting to them, even if some didn't want to admit to such a fact as it would only prove Sonic right and as much as they loved him as a friend (Heh-Heh) they certainly didn't approve of his personal views on waiting. But it seemed his energy and attitude were slowly getting to them, as some of their eyes twitched the silence grew stronger and their faces began turning red from waiting so long.
...
"Yeah, I'm bored." Hitch declared officially.
Sunny however couldn't take it anymore. "Ughhhhh!!! Fine you're right Hitch! You're right!" She threw her hooves up into the air, "They've been talking for like five minutes and yet it feels like forever since we saw them last! Is this how he feels every day when he has to wait?" She asked herself.
Zipp stared at her confused. "I think we figured that out already Sunny." she replied bluntly.
Sunny whipped around to face the Pegasus. "It was rhetorical!"
suddenly a new voice came into the fray. "Dash, if that's you again I'll burn that flank of yours into next week!"
All five ponies turned around, and their jaws dropped upon what they saw, as it turned out to be none other than Spike who held a green gem that was the size of his hand. He also stared back at them with a similar look, only it was more collected than theirs. He simply scratched the back of his head with his free hand, tucking the gem away behind his back as he kept staring with the same face.
"You want some coffee?" He asked kindly.
Twilight's Castle: Cutie Map
Without a second to waste Sonic immediately ducked under the next oncoming shot of magic, he only had a second to really click with what was going on before he side-stepped to avoid another one. His eyes narrowed at the alicorn; all of his focus now fully planted on her as she stared back with a glare. Getting into a battle stance, Sonic's straight face shifted into a grin that irritated the alicorn with a quip to boot. "Let's do this horse."
Without a moment left to waste Sonic flew across the room right at Twilight, quickly ducking underneath her sliding with his right hand being placed on the ground for balance. He then stood up upon making it all the way passed her, jumping into the air landing on her back riding the caught off guard pony with his left arm resting on top of her horn. "How's it going?"
Twilight's then regained a look of annoyance, as she used her left wing to grab Sonic's leg and toss him across to the map. He slid across the table stopping in a crouched stance, facing her with the same grin. "Not bad."
He curled up into a ball preparing a spindash, which made Twilight's eyes widen from how he was able to do that. He then sailed towards her coming into contact with her chest, sending the alicorn sliding back a few feet with an audible grunt escaping her mouth. He began rolling around the whole room leaving nothing but blue trails that went in all sorts of directions in an attempt to confuse her, however Twilight managed to keep track before shooting a beam towards a random spot.
Which made contact with Sonic sending him to the floor, which he recovered from quickly by spinning his hand on the ground and using the momentum to propel himself on top of Twilight's seat. 'A fellow adapter of battle I see.' He noted to himself.
He didn't have any more time to think however as he was suddenly picked up by an invisible source, taking notice of the lavender outline around his body. Before he was sent right towards the wall being placed firmly against it, and unable to move from his spot as he tried pushing himself off.
Gritting his teeth from the sudden pain in his back, he looked towards the alicorn who was now, only a few feet away from his face staring with a slight bit of smug of her own believing she had won. "Surrender now hedgehog!"
Sonic however didn't falter in his confidence. "And what? End the warmup? That's too soon, if you ask me!"
With a sudden swing of his lower body, he managed to deliver a two sole sandwich right in her face causing her magic to fade, as he fell to the floor landing on his feet. But upon looking at the alicorn, he took a look of sternness as he prepared for any other oncoming attacks. "Can you at least explain, why my mere existence here causes major problems?" He dodged another beam of magic when he asked.
Twilight held a look of anger once more. "You are the definition of unpredictability; any situation could have completely different chaotic outcomes. Which would lead to disastrous consequences out of our control, something that I can't let pass." She pondered for a second, seeming to have guilt in her eyes before focusing on Sonic once more with a fierce glare. "And if that means having to keep you out of the way! I. Will."
She charged forward at incredible speed ramming into Sonic as they crashed through the doors entering the hallways, Sonic upon getting to his feet as Twilight got to her hooves began running down the long corridor as Twilight flew after him keeping pace.
They both exchanged attacks on each other. A homing attack from Sonic, a blast of magic from Twilight, a punch, a kick, whatever move they could use while in motion they would use. Some landed and some missed as both of them refused to give in to the others assault.
That was until they reached the top of the castle, and Sonic decided to charge towards a window in hopes for an escape. Until Twilight charged tackled him and they both went out flying into the open air shattering the glass, falling right towards a certain nearby building.
Ponyville:
"So, you're the group Twilight mentioned?" Spike asked the mane five.
"Yes! It's so exciting to see you up close!" Sunny giggled happily.
"That's a first." Spike said rather surprised.
Pipp then came forward, "So, can you please tell us why Twilight wanted Sonic to stay behind?"
Spike's eyes widen as his eyes narrowed. "Did she say something along the lines of 'I’d like to discuss something important with you' just to him alone?"
Zipp raised a brow. "Yeah. Exactly like that." She pondered for a second looking at the ground before making eye contact with Spike again. "Why?"
The sound of shattering glass from above caught their attention as they all looked up to see the figures of Sonic and Twilight, tumbling through the air delivering blow after blow to each other's face before crashing through the roof of the School of Friendship. They all winced from how painful that would've been, facing the school once more Spike rolled his eyes groaning annoyed as he stood up ready to head over to the abandoned building.
"She really went with that plan?" He sighed sliding his palm down his face before running right on over to break up the scuffle. The mane five only stared on completely flabbergasted at what they witnessed; Sunny's face shifted into a harsh glare as she began following after the dragon.
Hitch took notice of Sunny's face and gulped heavily receiving looks from the others who'd all followed as well, with Izzy being the one to ask. "What's wrong Hitch?"
Hitch faced her with horror in his eyes. "She's got that look on her face."
Pipp wanted further elaboration. "What do you mean by that specifically?"
"You make Sunny annoyed or mad expect a warning, you make Sunny pissed prepare to write your will." Hitch simplified, which made the others share the same looks of horror. Cause they knew one thing altogether. Sonic. Was. Dead.
School of Friendship:
Crashing through the roof of an old building wasn't exactly pleasant as a few splinters entered their skin, and following closely behind them on the way down was the debris of the wood and roof tiles ready to bury them. Sonic and Twilight both separated from each other landing on different ends of the main lobby room, both recovering from the fall as the debris ceased falling as well.
They both looked up at the very visible hole in the roof which shined a light into the dark building, before locking eyes once more and glaring at each other again. Sonic was already sick of the song and dance they'd been exchanging since the fight began, he wasn't going to bother asking why the alicorn was against him. "Alright I've run out of patience."
He then charged towards the alicorn before she could react, he gave right hook followed by two left hooks, then diving underneath the stunned ruler placing his hands on the ground before launching his feet into her back sending her flying across the room and into a wall.
He then hopped on over to standing right outside the pony shaped hole in the wall cupping his hands over his mouth. "Are you done yet?!"
Suddenly Twilight jumped out from the dark shoulder charging Sonic across the room sending him to the ground, before grabbing hold of him with her magic thrashing him against the walls. Grunts of pain escaped his mouth before she threw him down the hall, and all he could do was slide across the ground coming to a stop on his back.
He slowly got up brushing off the rubble and dirt on his body, to which he set his sights on the alicorn once more who stood on the opposite end of the hall her eyes locked on his again. They both stared each other down seeing that the fight was getting nowhere, they both panted slightly from the beating their bodies took neither side was backing down and they probably weren't going to stop.
Sonic then had an idea. Would it work? probably not, but it wasn't worth a try. "Do you wish to give up hedgehog?" Twilight asked with hope that he would quit fighting.
Sonic flashed a grin. "Wishful thinking isn't going to slow me down!"
He crouched down placing his hands down on the ground caressing the dirt, as he prepared his head on assault on the alicorn. Twilight meanwhile prepared her horn, lighting it up with its usual lavender glow echoing of the walls, confidence reigning within her as she was ready for one last attack.
Sonic began revving his legs, turning them into a figure eight shape of red and white. His speed built up as he was ready to give this another shot, even if it didn't bring results. "Ready?"
Twilight smiled as she whispered under her breath. "Show me your true potential."
Sonic's pupils then flashed blue as he let his arms off the ground. "GO!" He shot down the hall like a bullet dodging the beams of magic that came his way, jumping from wall to wall, diving over another beam, to even sliding underneath one before focusing dead ahead in front of him at his target.
Only then did the sparks ignite on his quills flashing frequently enough for Twilight pick up on it, her eyes opening wide in shock. 'What is this?'
Then the sparks began to grow, with his quills lighting up brightly, his eyes changing from emerald to a glowing blue, electricity appeared over his body flashing violently. His notable grin changed to a focused frown, as he narrowed his eyes on the prize.
Twilight was too stunned to do anything else as her thoughts ran wild. 'This energy radiating off of him, how is it possible? No creature aside from Discord of any caliber can withhold that power without completing destroying the atoms of their bodies!'
She couldn't ponder any longer as the blue hedgehog was now only inches away from her face, fist raised shining ever so bright with blue electricity, speed unlike any she's ever seen, and above all else and unavoidable attack...
Ponyville:
Suddenly the front doors crashed open as Twilight's body flew out with steam rising off her fur, she crashed against the dirt digging up some of the earth below her. She felt weak as the full weight of the striking punch fully register, she slowly tried to stand up managing to place her hooves against the ground, but she then looked up only to see Sonic standing just a few feet in front of her position his arms crossed, a grin plastered on his face, and confidence that could reach the next galaxy.
"You done yet?" He asked with what sounded like triumph and annoyance indicating he wanted her to stop for her own sake, she let a ghost of a smile rest on her lips.
'He's the key to stop her. ' She confidently thought to herself.
She slowly stood up managing to regain her balance facing the hedgehog with neutral face, neither side dared to move as the wind silently brushed against their fur. One of them was guaranteed to make a move first, but who was the big question.
It would be interrupted however by a certain pony who wasn't pleased in the slightest. "Sonic. The. Hedgehog."
Sonic and Twilight both cringed at the venom filled voice coming from right next to them, turning slowly to see not only the mane five and Spike but one very, very pissed off Sunny Starscout who gave a stare that could make anyone disintegrate from all of existence.
Sonic winced realizing he may have messed up a bit. "Hey... Sunny. I know what it looks like, but just try to relax ok?"
Sunny said nothing at first as her face morphed into a smile. "You know what you're right Sonic I should relax." She said weirdly normal.
'Phew, dodged the bullet there.' Sonic thought relieved.
Sunny then immediately glared with icy daggers at Sonic, her eyes lighting on fire as her teeth turned sharp as she screamed at him. "AFTER I BUCKING KICK YOUR FLANK!!!"
Sonic immediately jumped in fright from her sudden rage managing to just barely dodge the missile mare who flew at him, he then immediately began doing everything he could to create distance between him and the bulldozing mare. Cause if he were to admit to himself right now, he was absolutely terrified of what was happening right now, everything had just escalated to a whole bigger level, and he had no way of controlling it despite evidently being capable of handling much bigger threats.
The others watched the cat and mouse chase unfold, some found it very amusing, others found it downright scary but one particular dragon was very much frowning. Not because of the predicament that was happening in front of him, that was hilarious in his eyes, but his disapproval was aimed at a certain alicorn who caught wind of his look seeming to be confused.
"What?' She questioned her assistant's stare.
He crossed his arms still frowning. "You seriously decided to do what Rainbow Dash would do, and directly challenge him to a fight without even thinking about other possible ways to handle the situation?"
She gave a frown of her own. "I needed to be sure if he was capable of being able to match Opaline's power, so that they can have a higher chance of winning."
Spike gave her a deadpanned look, turning away sliding a palm down his face shaking his head annoyed. "You've been around Dash too much."
Twilight pouted with her hooves clawing the ground, before acknowledging his words as truthful. "I know."
Spike then turned back to face the ongoing chase of the blue hedgehog and earth pony mare, and it didn't seem to be stopping anytime soon. And so, with a few more seconds of entertainment to himself he finally cleared his throat. "Pardon me can you stop the chase please!"
Almost immediately the group had frozen in place facing towards the dragon with their attention being fully earned, to which he chuckled silently to himself. 'Finally, somepony listens to me when I ask for their attention. '
He slightly cringed at all the other times in the past when he was ignored but threw that to the side for now. "I know that your friend there fighting Twilight may have looked bad-"
Sunny glared at Sonic upon Spike saying that. "You don't say." She harshly whispered.
Sonic threw his hands up in the air. "Really?! We're doing this schtick now?!" He exclaimed beyond dumbfounded with how poorly the situation was interpretated by the others.
Spike cleared his throat once more regaining their attention. "As I was saying, while it may have looked bad. We can easily clear things up if we just settle down, set up a fire inside the castle and explain everything then. Sound good?" He asked waiting for an objection.
Sunny went to object at first but immediately realized how pointless it would've been. "Fine." She muttered somewhat bitterly.
Spike clapped his hands together smiling that they were able to come to an agreement. "Great well I'll head inside and set things up, you all just wait out here and chill."
He walked a bit away before facing them again with a glare of his own. "I better not hear fighting you understand me."
The others all nodded as Spike then gestured for Twilight to follow him to which she did, the group remained silent as both ancient figures continued walking, up until they entered through the castle doors disappearing from sight. It was now that the five ponies faced Sonic with mixed reactions, which he took a look of confusion for. "What?"
Zipp stormed up to him angrily whispering to him. "You couldn't help yourself, could you?!"
Sonic shot back with a harsh whisper of his own. "It's not like I had a choice!" He argued back.
Hitch then stepped in. "Yeah, but she's a literal ancient ruler of our time!"
Sonic frowned getting even more annoyed by how none of them were understanding his side of things. "You think this isn't the first time I disrespected authority?!
Pipp finally spoke up. "No! But you could've at least not let your tendencies get the better of you! What if you got hurt?!" She added worried.
"Sorry but that's not how I roll! I always play by my own rules and do what I think is best!" He then emphasized his last statement.
"End. Of. Story." He finished trying to stop the argument.
While all this was happening, Izzy then took notice of something to the right and grew wide eyes. "Uh, guys?"
"WHAT?!" They all replied in unison, slightly startling their unicorn friend.
"Sorry." They apologized immediately.
Sunny approached her. "What is it Izzy?"
Izzy could only stare back at what she saw. "I think somepony is watching us."
The others were confused for a moment before they followed where she was looking, and their eyes grew wide as right ahead in a set of bushes was a pair of mint-green eyes staring back at them also growing wide. Twilight and Spike just left, and those eyes didn't belong to either of them, so who was watching them from the bushes?
It was only then that the eyes retreated away as the group then gave chase after their mysterious stalker.
Author's Note
Oh my god. I finally deliver a beefy chapter; I told you I would continue to make more.

I hope it was worth the wait, hopefully I can make more soon though because I love writing these characters and there's so much potential to be found. I mean just look at BronySonicFan and how far he's come with his Sonic stories.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the chapter, and I'll hopefully talk to you all soon. Have a good day.
