Chapters The Syknoian War: Part Two
Three months ago...
Princess Cadence had declared war against the carnivorous Syknoians, an alien race that had killed Twilight Sparkle and her friends during an exploratory mission. Circumstances had also forced her daughter, Flurry Heart, to abandon ship. The war has progressed very well and the Equestrian fleet has just obliterated two squadrons on their way to the home planet. The second squadron battle was won with help from a new set of allies that had a missile that could destroy stars. This missile allowed the planet's sun to be destroyed and resulted in the planet itself being ripped apart by the shockwave. The fleet is now getting closer to being able to destroy the race completely, but they have one last defense squadron to eliminate. Can the fleet take them out with the assistance of Mickey Mouse and his friends, or is this the end?
The Syknoian War: Part Two
After the second battle was won, Cadence began supplying Mickey and his friends with some of the extra weapons that the Equestrian fleet had in storage. As the injured soldiers were being treated, Ocellus radioed in to speak with Cadence.
"Your Majesty, my sister, Coccyx, has located the third squadron's base. It is not a planet. The third squadron is based inside a Dyson sphere. This is a giant metal shell constructed around a star that harnesses all of the star's energy to power the systems."
Everyone was shocked to hear this, even Mickey and his friends were floored. Regardless of the surprising news, they warped to the sphere and deployed more pilots than they had used for the previous two battles. A scan over the sphere indicated that there was a heat shield to protect the interior surface from the star's heat. This find gave both Silverstream and Gallus an idea.
"If we find the main circuitry for the heat shield and disable it, the heat will cause the sphere to blow up and the Syknoians will die in the vacuum of space."
Cadence approved the plan and the battle began. There were at least six million Syknoians on board the Dyson sphere, and half of them came out on ships to defend the structure.
"OPEN FIRE!", Cadence screamed over the radio.
Blasts erupted from every single ship. Mickey had even split up the Disneystar and he and his friends took a more direct attack run to help the fleet. This was the perfect time to test out their new armaments. They were about to have their minds blown.
"I am shocked at how powerful these frozen bullets are. They freeze the enemy ships in the blink of an eye.", Toodles said in amazement as Mickey fired them.
"I have never seen blades that can be shot like bullets from a rifle. These cut through the hulls like a hot knife through butter.", screeched Minnie excitedly.
"I love these laser lances. Each one fires six blasts at the same time, meaning I can shoot twelve shots altogether.", laughed Goofy.
"These acid globes are incredible. They melt through the enemy ships with ease.", quacked Donald.
"These smash waves are amazing. They are enough to shear the enemy ships in half.", said Daisy.
Once the Syknoians protecting the Dyson Sphere had been taken out, it was high time for the sphere to be destroyed. One of Smolder's soldiers was unable to fly back and decided to make a sacrifice.
"Commander, My ship does not have enough stability to safely make it back to the main ship. I am above the main circuitry for the heat shield right now and will dive down into it."
"Understood, Agent Onyx.", replied Smolder.
Onyx grabbed her yoke and tipped her ship into a steep dive towards the cover that protected the sensitive components in the circuitry. Laser shots broke out to slow her down, but Mickey and his friends intervened to give Onyx her chance. When she impacted, the explosion blew the cover wide open. Exposed to the vacuum of space, the capacitors and resistors shattered and the circuitry shorted out. Without the heat shield working to protect the interior, the Dyson Sphere began to overheat and it soon exploded away from the star. The Syknoians' screams of pain could be heard even though they were in a vacuum and the ships had all of their hatches closed. The third squadron had been bested and it was time to end the war once and for all. As the Disneystar was reassembled, Cadence radioed Minnie.
"You said that you were trained to fire a weapon that could be useful in the final stage of this war. Am I right?"
"You heard me correctly.", Minnie replied.
"What's the easiest way to demonstrate how it works?", Cadence inquired.
"Brandon had installed transporters on the ships when they were built. I can beam over with a recorded simulation of how this weapon works."
Cadence said that would be great and had all of the main commanders meet in her quarters.
The Syknoian War: Part Two
As Minnie got ready to beam over, Mickey gave her some advice.
"Since you don't have the strongest skills in public speaking, Toodles will accompany you and give the description of how the weapon functions."
Minnie accepted what he had told her and Toodles followed her into the transporter room. She carried the simulation on a compact disc that was protected by a case in her backpack. Mickey also went with her to engage the transporter.
"Energize.", said Toodles when both of them were ready.
Beams of light engulfed Minnie and Toodles and they disappeared from the Disneystar . They reappeared on board the E-6 , which was the command ship for the ponies. Minnie walked up to a map board and tapped on Cadence's cabin. A message appeared, telling her and Toodles to follow the blue light streaks on the walls to reach the door. When they arrived, Minnie rang the tone to let Cadence know they had come. Sandbar opened the door and let them in.
"What type of weapon is this that you have been trained to fire?", Cadence asked.
Minnie pulled out the disc and inserted it into a projector. What showed up was impressive. It was a projection of Minnie's ship. Two large laser cannon barrels extended from the front when Minnie pressed a button to proceed.
"This is an "M D D".", she said.
"What does that mean?", Silverstream asked out of confusion.
"M D D is an acronym for Molecular Detachment Device.", said Toodles.
"This simulation will show how it works.", added Minnie as she proceeded.
She brought up a zoomed out view of the laser cannon. Toodles took the floor to explain the process.
"Particle beams accelerate from these twin barrels. At the focus point, they reach critical effective mass. The reaction inside the resulting orb bursts free and spreads outward, shattering molecular bonds. If fired at a group of ships that are in close proximity, there will be nothing left at all. What will happen to a planet when hit by this weapon is unknown. The reason why the projection only shows Minnie's ship is because that is the safest way to fire the weapon. She either has to have only her ship separated from the others, or all five ships have to be split up."
“What happens if Minnie’s ship is not separated?”, asked Smolder.
“Good question, Smolder. Here’s what would happen if I was not separate.”, Minnie answered as she switched to another simulation.
This simulation showed the Disneystar as one piece, and Minnie proceeded to show what would happen. The cannon looked like it was ready, but then an energy burst shot backwards after the cannon fired. This burst of energy struck the Disneystar's main engines and caused them to blow up, taking the ship out with them.
“The reason for this result is as follows. The reactor that powers the cannon would be overloaded if the cannon is fired while Minnie’s ship is connected. The backfire would then destroy the engines and we would all die.”, explained Toodles.
Everybody in the room was speechless when Toodles finished speaking.
"I don't know how to respond to that.", Yona finally said after a minute of silence.
"Nor do any of us.", said everyone else simultaneously.
Cadence eventually said that if this cannon was fired at the right time, any ships and individual Syknoians would be completely destroyed. Minnie had the same opinion and returned to the Disneystar . After the other commanders had returned to their posts, Cadence issued the order to lock in on the coordinates of the Syknoians' home planet.
The Syknoian War: Part Two
During the flight to the final area, the injured soldiers finished recovering and everyone started priming every single weapon they had at their disposal. Arriving at Syknoia, the Equestrian fleet deployed all of its soldiers and the commanders boarded personal ships alongside Cadence. Mickey and his friends prepared to split up their ship so Minnie could fire her weapon safely when ready.
"Syknoians are approaching now.", reported Gallus as he picked up a signal on his radar.
“Begin separation sequence.”, Mickey instructed to his friends.
He and his friends split up and the ships started disconnecting from each other. Once they were all cleared, Minnie activated her cannon and started charging it up.
“M D D is charging.”, Minnie reported.
Everyone raised their shields and opened fire. While Minnie waited for full charge, she began shooting at the enemies with some of her other weapons. Several ships were taken out in both fleets, but the advanced weapons used by the Equestrian fleet along with Mickey and his friends gave a massive advantage. The Equestrian fleet only lost six ships and suffered minor damage, whereas the Syknoian ships were completely destroyed.
"Ten seconds until I have full charge.", said Minnie as she disengaged the safety and extended the cannon's barrels to the firing position.
She relayed her display to Cadence, who quickly responded.
"At full charge, I will count down to firing on your mark."
She didn't have long to wait. Soon, the charge indicator read 100%. At this point, it was either now or never.
"Mark!", said Minnie.
"Counting down. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.", said Cadence over the radio.
"FIRE NOW!", cried Toodles.
Minnie pulled the trigger and the cannon fired. Two bright white beams flew out and gradually got closer together as they reached the planet's surface. Prior to beginning the final battle, Mickey had sent goggles to all of the soldiers.
"GOGGLES ON, NOW!", he yelled.
Everyone put on their goggles in the nick of time. Right as Cadence put hers on, the beams were combined and had reached critical mass. The reaction burst free and spread over the surface of Syknoia, burning up everything it touched until nothing remained. Eventually, the planet was only a mass of ashes that slowly drifted apart after the reaction ended. Everyone was rendered speechless by what they were seeing. During the reaction, all of the ships were coming back together. Even Mickey was startled by the resulting effect.
"WE DID IT! YES!", Cadence finally cheered.
Everyone began cheering and clapping wildly at their victory. Once the excitement had died down, Cadence radioed the Disneystar .
"Would you all like to come to Eqqus for the final celebration of our tremendous victory?"
"Yes please.", said all of the friends at the same time.
The Syknoian War: Part Two
All of the ships set a course for Equus and set their warp drives to maximum power. The ships left the battlefield and zoomed through space many times faster than a bullet from a gun. Even at the highest amount of thrust, this journey would take a while. To compensate, the soldiers opted to go into stasis and be awakened when they arrived in orbit.

Three months later, the ships arrived in orbit around Equus and the soldiers were woken up. They entered Eqqus' atmosphere and landed safely. As the soldiers were exiting their ships, photographers and reporters from all of the newspapers were gathered and taking pictures. Cadence returned to the throne and the celebration began the following week. Fireworks lit up the night for three days straight and the Wonderbolts performed several times a day.
After the celebration was finished, Ocellus spotted something falling from the sky near the Changeling Kingdom. It was a capsule of some sort. She made arrangements to show the contents to Cadence at once and boarded a chariot to Canterlot. Arriving at the palace, she bowed before Cadence on the carpet.
"You may rise.", said Cadence.
"This capsule came streaking down from the sky. I have examined the contents and I think it has a video journal from Flurry Heart."
Upon hearing her daughter's name mentioned, Cadence took the capsule and pulled out the disc that was inside. She then called the other five of the Young Six to meet her and Ocellus to view the journal. They were about to find out where Flurry had ended up and how well she was doing in the way of her survival.
