The Earth is dead. Her land is barren and her people are few. The oceans boiled and the very skies scorched red. Billions have perished in a war that has spanned untold years. Entire generations have passed without the sun, and those who are left know only strife. Every day is a battle to survive, and for many, hope is waning.

Yet, there are still those that rage against the dying of the light. The mighty champions of Earth, the Celestial Guard, fight on protecting those left and fighting for a better tomorrow. When an ancient gateway from a bygone time is rediscovered, a swift decision is made by the Guard's leaders. Four brave warriors must brave the unknown and seek aid in a new world, carrying the last of Earth's hope with them.

Unfortunately for Sunset Shimmer, she happens to be on holiday in Equestria when this whole mess goes down. When she's chosen to play interplanetary diplomat, she can only hope she's the right pony for the job.

(This takes place after the Season 9 Finale, but before the Epilogue. I'm taking into consideration the show, movies, and Equestria Girls, but not the comics because I haven't read them all.)
