The UnderTale
Toriel’s Guidance
Previous ChapterNext ChapterTwilight walked with Toriel as she soon let go of Toriel's hand looking around at the ruins Twilight noticed it was visually brighter in the next room. Torches lit the walls and the room before Twilight and Toriel. Toriel walked up ahead, going up the stairs. Twilight slowly followed all while looking around. Looking right between the two stairwells Twilight saw a pile of orange red leaves with a shining star above it. Walking toward the star Twilight looked at it confused.
Toriel noticed this reaction and smiled. “Oh you like the leaves? They grow within the ruins.” Toriel explained to Twilight. Twilight looked at Toriel then back to the star hovering above the flowers. Looking back to Toriel, Twilight pointed at the star.
“Can… Can you not see the star?” Twilight asked. Toriel looked over at where Twilight was pointing. From Twilight's view Toriel should have passed or even seen the star right beneath her. Toriel shook her head a bit confused at what she was supposed to look at.
Lookin at Twilight worried Toriel spoke “My child I don't see anything there. Why is there something I should do?” Toriel asked Twilight. The young girl shook her head.
“No… no it must be my imagination... “ Twilight started. Her eyes landed back onto the star's location again. Toriel didn't seem to notice this. Twilight carefully placed her hand on the star. The world seemed to stop as Twilight felt the warmth of the star surrounding her body. Twilight looked up and around the area. The shadow of the ruins looms above, filled her with determination. Her soul had appeared in front of her again.
Looking at her soul there were some words on it. On the top it said “LV 1” Confused for a second Twilight remembered what Flowey said a few minutes ago. “You must be wondering what LV stands for? Why, LOVE, of course” The flowers innocent voice shaking Twilight to the core as she shivered. Under the LV there were two words… “Save” and “Return”
Looking at Toriel Twilight noticed that she seemed to be frozen as if time was all paused. Looking at her soul, Twilight pushed on the “SAVE” Button. The options disappeared as Twilight's heart returned to her. Within a blink of an eye Twilight realized that time seemed to have resumed as Toriel turned toward Twilight. “Are you coming, my child?” Toriel asked the young girl. Twilight looked at her chest where the soul disappeared at and nodded
“Yes, I am now.” Twilight said with a smile. Walking up the stairs Twilight followed Toriel into the next room. Though a bit darker it was still fine for Twilight to see and move through. Toriel walked ahead and turned to Twilight.
Toriel stood to the side of what seemed to be buttons on the ground “Allow me to educate you in the operation of the RUINS.” Toriel said, grabbing Twilights attention. “You see, the Ruins have a lot of puzzles within them. If you're not careful or if you don't do it right you could get hurt.” Toriel explained, Toriel stepped on the bottom left button and went straight for the one across it. Going up to the top right button Toriel turned to the left and pushed one more button as the door behind her opened slowly. Turning toward Twilight , Toriel bowed.
Twilight clapped with excitement. Though this was a simple puzzle compared to Twilight's intelligence she couldn't help but to clap for the person who helped her. Not only that but it seemed Toriel enjoyed the applause and presence of Twilight. “Can I try the next puzzle, Toriel?” Twilight asked Toriel who nodded as she rose.
“Of course my child, the next one is actually a puzzle for you. Come along now.” Toriel said kindly, walking into the next room and waiting for Twilight to follow. Smiling Twilight started to follow Toriel as she couldn't help but giggle. Twilight seemed to be happier than before when she first jumped down. Before exiting the room Twilight saw a sign on the wall to her left. Stopping, she walked up to the sign and proceeded to read it.
The sign hung on the wall carefully. The text written on the sign read “Only the fearless may proceed, Brave ones, foolish ones, Both walk not the middle road.” Confused at first, Twilight looked at the pressure plates Toriel had just walked over and noticed the two in the middle straight line were never pushed. Realizing that the signs give her hints Twilight kept that in mind and walked into the next room.
Toriel was patiently waiting for Twilight as she quietly hummed a tune. Twilight walked up to Toriel and gently pulled her clothes. “Oh my child, I didn't realize you made it.” Toriel said as Twilight smiled, “To make progress here, you will need to trigger several switches. I left you some hints and notes on the sign there if you need help alright?”
Nodding slowey Twilight thought to herself, “Why would I need a sign to pull a lever? Kinda simple to pull one.” Toriel patted Twilight's head and smiled. “I guess it will make her happy so it won't hurt to play along.” Twilight thought to herself
“Do not worry, I have labelled the ones that you need to flip. Just so you don't get confused. Also if you need help I will always be right here.” Toriel said, Twilight nodded. Toriel took this as the sign to step to the side and watch. Twilight looked around the area. At the end of the pathway there was a sign.
Walking up to the sign Twilight slowly read it. “Use your strength to pull a lever down or up!” the sign said. Toriel's hand writing on it. Seeing a sign on the wall hanging Twilight walked over to that one and proceeded to read it. “Stay on the path.” the sign read. “My child this way please.” Toriel asked kindly. Turning around, Twilight had started to walk over the little bridge and toward Toriel.
Seeing a lever on the wall with arrows all around it Twilight looked a bit confused at Toriel. “This is supposed to be a puzzle?” Twilight asked, Toriel nodded. “But… there is only one. Not only that but it's marked. Isn't there a harder one?” Twilight asked, trying to be respectful. Toriel put her hand under her chin and nodded.
“Lets focus on the basics just in case. If you're smart enough to do these puzzles I will let you try one.” Toriel said to Twilight who nodded slowly. “Just try your best alright.” Twilight started to walk to the single lever and pull it down. Though it was a bit harder than Twilight expected she still managed to get it. “Very good, my child came along.” Toriel said while she walked over the bridge. Walking after Toriel Twilight looked at the stream. Her own reflection showed back but someone behind her stood with her arms crossed. Looking around her quickly, Twilight saw no one was there. “Be Careful my child, you don't want to fall in and catch a cold.” Toriel warned Twilight.
Twilight walked up to Toriel a bit confused at the last event. Realizing there were spikes in the way Twilight was a bit confused as to why. Toriel stood between the spikes and Twilight. “Now my child this one might be a bit more difficult, now there are two switches.” Toriel explained slowly raising her arm to point at the two switches. Twilight felt excited that the puzzles would get harder, only to be disappointed as one of the levers was marked with arrows all around it. “Now go on and try it out.” Toriel said encouraging Twilight.
Smiling at Toriel, Twilight nodded. “Alright this should be hard!” Twilight said in an excited tone. Deep down Twilight was sad that the tests were not getting harder as she once expected. Walking up to the levers Twilight was thinking of pulling the one without arrows just to see what would happen. About to reach for it Twilight stopped. “She did say that if I did well on these tests I could have a harder test up ahead. Maybe I should answer.” Twilight thought to herself.
Pulling the right lever Twilight heard a click. Turning toward Toriel Twilight noticed the spikes behind her all went down. Clearing the path Toriel clapped her hands with joy. “Oh good job good job my child. Splendid! I am proud of you, little one.” Toriel said. Twilight stopped in her steps upon hearing the last part. “Let us move to the next room.” Toriel started, she turned around and started to walk out of the room. Twilight stood alone in the room quietly
“She said she was proud of me… for pulling a switch out of all the things.” Twilight thought to herself. Twilight felt her eyes begin to fill with water. “I haven't heard those words in a while. They stopped saying it a while ago...” Twilight wiped her eyes. The tears went from her eyes as she forced a smile. Walking after Toriel Twilight felt her old mood rise again, her determination rising.
Upon entering the next room Twilight saw a dummy and Toriel. Confused at what puzzle this would be, Twilight waited quietly. Toriel didn't seem to notice Twilight's time in the other room. “As a human living in the Underground, monsters may attack you.” Toriel started, Twilight could imagine where this would start going. “You will need to be prepared for this situation. However worry not! The process is simple.” Toriel explained, kneeling on one knee Toriel looked at first, “Fear not, I just wish to show you something.” Toriel explained as Twilight nodded.
Toriel prepared herself as she summoned Twilight's soul, Twilight felt the soul prepare for a fight, worried at the sudden change Twilight looked at Toriel with fearful eyes, Toriel's expression showed Twilight she needn't be afraid. Calming down, Twilight waited for Toriel to explain. “When you encounter a monster, you will enter a fight. They will summon your soul. As you can see on your soul there is a LOVE level it should be as “LV”, a HOPE bar which should be “HP” and your actual number of health which is full. Under that there should be a Magical Powers which is “MP” Though i could only see your bar I assume you can see it all correct?” Toriel started to explain to Twilight who was checking everything.
Everything seemed to be there until Twilight noticed the Magic powers section was nowhere to be found. “Um Miss Toriel. The magic one isn't there. Is that normal?” Twilight asked Toriel who stopped. Thinking on the question, Toriel seemed to have gotten an answer.
“Oh please just call me Toriel. It is normal for humans to have magical abilities even if it is hard. Perhaps you haven't awakened any magical abilities. I think the last I heard on the surface was that few to none surface humans use magic. There must still be some since the barrier is still up. I doubt that spell would have lasted this long if they didn't keep redoing the spell… well back to the subject at hand once you learn some magic abilities you will be able to do any type of magic but you must only use it for good, never to kill or hurt.” Toriel told Twilight who nodded slowly
Looking at her soul Twilight looked at where Toriel said the magic section would be. “So Humans can still do spells and magical things? I wonder why no one does it anymore.” Twilight thought to herself as Toriel continued with her explanation.
“Where was i… Oh yes I remember while you were in a fight, strike up a friendly conversation.” Toriel finished the fight as Twilight's soul returned back to her. “Stall for time. I will come to resolve the conflict now and practice talking to the dummy.” Toriel said. The dummy was staring at the wall, not moving, not saying anything.
Twilight slowly walked up to the dummy, her expression one of worry, “I never had a conversation with a dummy. What should I say? Is he or they even alive? Can I just stare quietly? No, Miss Toriel said ``I have to talk so I will!” Twilight thought to herself. Once getting closer to the dummy Twilight felt her soul being summoned into a fight. “IT'S ALIVE!” Twilight shouted in shock.
“Relax Twilight, it won't hurt you I promise. Just make conversation with it.” Toriel said to Twilight who shook. Turning toward the Dummy Twilight could help but remember what happened last time with flowey. Now starting to breathe heavily Twilight looked around.
“I- um- hello? Nice weather right!” Twilight asked. The dummy stood there just quietly staring at the wall. The dummy is not doing or saying anything. Twilight looked at Toriel who nodded. Taking as a signal to continue Twilight turned back to the Dummy. Remembering Toriel's words of how proud she was at Twilight, Twilight felt her determination start to overgrow the fear. Turning toward the Dummy, Twilight smiled. “I like your buttons and stitches. They look beautiful.” Twilight said.
The Dummy was still for a second as its face turned red. Toriel stepped between Twilight and the Dummy. “Ah, very good! You are very good.” Toriel said to Twilight. Going for a hug Toriel wrapped her arms around Twilight. The young girl shivered for a second, the feeling only feeling familiar for a second. “You are doing amazing.” Toriel whispered to Twilight. Twilight couldn't help but hug tighter, a few tears falling into Toriel's shoulder. Though Twilight was crying silently Toriel didn't seem to notice.
As Toriel let go Twilight rubbed her eyes, Toriel looked at Twilight worried, “My child are you alright? Have I hurt you?” Toriel asked worriedly. Looking at Twilight Toriel looked for any injuries.
Twilight rubbed her eyes and shook her head. “No no it's not that. It's just… Thank you. For helping me Miss Toriel.” Twilight said. Smiling at Toriel. Though the smile was true Toriel could still see the pain behind Twilight's eyes.
“You don’t have to call me Miss, Toriel is just fine. You are quite welcome. Thank you for joining me and trusting me with Twilight.” Toriel said. Kneeling down and hugging Twilight again Twilight held a bit longer than before. The Dummy just stared at the wall.
“Come now Twilight. We still have a long way to go.” Toriel said as she let go of Twilight gently. Twilight nodded and started to follow Toriel. Stopping and staring at the Dummy Twilight looked at the door way Toriel just left through and then at the Dummy
Running toward the dummy she gave it a small hug, “Thank you.” Twilight said to the Dummy. Letting go of the Dummy Twilight chased after Toriel. The Dummy stared at the wall all alone as a single tear left its eye
Twilight entered the next room, ready for whatever is to come next, “There is another puzzle in this room… I wonder if you can solve it?” Toriel said to Twilight, ready for what the puzzle Twilight looked around. Not seeing anything but the walls and paved ground going in a zigzag line Twilight was confused.
“Where is the puzzle exactly?” Twilight asked Toriel, who smiled. Waving her hand to follow her Twilight did as so. Jumping onto the paved path Twilight followed it step by step going within the zigzag motion of the paved ground. Toriel couldn't help but giggle at the childish action.
Walking at the end of the paved pathway Twilight followed Toriel into the hallway. Turning the corner Twilight saw a sign on the wall, before she could read it Twilight felt her soul being summoned. Looking around Twilight I saw a small frog-like creature. “Oh hello.” Twilight said to the Froggit. The Froggit only stared at her.
“Robbit, robbit.” The Froggit said. Thinking fast Twilight got ready to run or dodge. The froggit stared at Twilight with its big eyes.
“Um, why are frogs so happy?” Twilight asked the Froggit who only stared at her. The froggit tilted its head. Taking this as a sign to continue Twilight started to speak though the fear of being attacked made it hard for her to say it out. “Because. Because um. They eat whatever bothers them!” Twilight said to the froggit.
The froggit didn't seem to understand but it croaked twice at Twilight, It seemed to have enjoyed whatever Twilight said. The Froggit prepared to attack until a tall shadow covered the Froggit. As it turned around they only saw the angry eyes of Toriel. Her hand summoned a fireball as she stared down at the Froggit.
Looking down, the froggit quickly hopped away. Twilight sighed with a smile. “You did the right thing, my child. I had never heard that joke before. I must say it was a very great one.” Toriel said trying to not laugh at the joke “Jokes are always a great way to make your enemy stop the fight. When stalling for time just be prepared to run or move away.” Toriel explained to Twilight
“I will Miss- I mean I will be Toriel.” Twilight corrected herself. Toriel's expression softened as Twilight felt warm. Toriel walked ahead again as Twilight walked up to the sign. Reading it Twilight was confused
“The Western room is the eastern room’s blueprint” the sign read, thinking of the message Twilight looked at Toriel. “Does something matter to my child?” Toriel asked Twilight pointed at the sign
“This sign said that the western room is the eastern room's blueprints.” Twilight explained. Toriel seemed to watch carefully. Twilight was thinking carefully. “Lets see the eastern room.” Twilight said as she walked with Toriel toward the eastern room.
Turning the last corner Twilight looked at the next room with shock. A whole bridge with spikes all around the floor. “This is the puzzle, but it could be a bit too dangerous…” Toriel stated. Twilight looked at the spikes and then at Toriel
“Why would you even have a room like this in here!” Twilight asked Toriel. The goat lady turned to Twilight and shrugged. A bit surprised at the response Twilight turned toward the spikes. “So is there a lever or a button?” Twilight asked Toriel
Turning toward the sign and then at Twilight Toriel shook her head. “No, the answer was given to you. Already… Here let me take your hand.” Toriel started, her hand reaching out for Twilight's hand. Twilight stepped away from Toriel much to her surprise.
Stepping away from Toriel Twilight put her hand under her chin she slowly bit on her nails as she thought. “No. I want to try this.” Twilight explained to Toriel who shook her head. Reaching out for Twilight's hand again.
“My child please listen to me for this one. If you step in the wrong place you could hurt yourself.” Toriel explained to Twilight, the young girl still not reaching out for Toriel's hand. “What if I show you it and next time you can try it?” Toriel asked
Twilight shook her head, “If you tell me it won't help me learn or grow it will just make me be more reliant on you. I want to at least be a bit more independent.” Twilight said as she tried to push up her glasses. Her mind forgot there was nothing there to push up since she no longer needed glasses.
Toriel was about to speak as Twilight whispered to herself. “the western room... is the eastern room's blueprints…” Twilight thought to herself.Toriel thought of how she could help Twilight as Twilight snapped her fingers. “As I was walking up the mountain the sun was to my left. That is west. So this way must be easy!” Twilight said as she pointed to the eastern room.
Toriel nodded and tried to say something but Twilight continued. “Then the west is behind us… that means! I GOT IT!” Twilight yelled as she did a 180 and ran back to the room behind her. Toriel quickly chased after Twilight
“Wait, my child, Twilight. Please listen!” Toriel shouted. Chasing the young girl Toriel was turning the corner only to see Twilight on the other side of the room. Twilight seemed to be mapping out the paved path as Toriel had just gotten there. “My child you can’t just run off like that.” Toriel said as Twilight was too busy to hear her.
“So this is why it isn't connected to the doorway! Okay so if i take six steps straight.” Twilight started as she grabbed a stick and started to write it on the ground. Toriel tried to get closer and tried to get Twilight's attention. Twilight just sidestepped her as she then went to the next part of the blueprints. “So if this is correct I need five steps.” Twilight mumbled. Toriel ran over to Twilight
“Twilight please just listen to-” Toriel started only to see she ran to the mapping on the ground and started to write on it. Turning around Toriel started to run toward Twilight. Toriel had gotten to the mapping just as Twilight ran around her and back to the paved floor. “Sweet butterscotch buns, this child is fast,” Toriel thought as she started to stop for a breather.
Twilight started to map out the distance and the scaling for the next part of the paved road. Toriel started to walk toward Twilight not out of calmness but out of breath. Reaching out for Twilight's hand, Toriel just missed as Twilight hopped to the side again. Before Toriel could reach out again Twilight had run away from Toriel. “No!” Twilight said as she got to her mapping and started to write it down.
Toriel put her hands on her knees as she breathed, “J-just, Just please my child. If you won't let me aid you in… oh jeez” Toriel started as Twilight ran to the next part and started to scale it again. Finally getting more air Toriel continued. “You could hurt yourself!”
Twilight had finished writing it down onto the mapping and ran toward the end of the paved path. Toriel thought quickly as she summoned a fireball. Knowing the mapping was at the beginning of the paved road which was behind Toriel, she had gotten an idea. Toriel threw the fire ball onto the ground. Twilight looked up as a line of fire was made right in the middle of the paved floor. It was wall to wall as Twilight was now cut off of her map. “Hmph. I think now you will listen to me.” Toriel stated proudly. Twilight looked at Toriel in silence.
“Well I kinda got it. I just needed this last part.” Twilight stated. Toriel's eyes went wide as Twilight waved at Toriel and ran toward the spike room, “WATCH I WILL GET THIS CORRECT!” Twilight said with full confidence.
Toriel screamed in fear as she ran past the firewall she made only to burn her feet for a second and then chased after Twilight. “TWILIGHT, Twilight! Be reasonable!” Toriel shouted after Twilight.
Getting to the Spike room Toriel looked at the room as Twilight was already in the middle of the room. “Twilight, stay right where you are! I am coming!” Toriel shouted to Twilight. Step by step Twilight seemed to walk with confidence. Toriel had started on the spikes as Twilight started to walk down to the bottom. This time she turned left and continued toward the end.
“Don't mess up, don't mess up!” Toriel thought to herself as she stared at Twilight. Twilight turned up and was walking the correct pathing. Toriel stopped as she stared at the young girl. Twilight had stepped all the way up and then turned right. Finally making it to the end of the spike room.
Turning around Twilight smiled, “TADA! How did I do?” Twilight asked. Leaving Toriel in udder silence Twilight giggled at the expression the goat lady wore. One of shock and fear. Toriel finally snapped out of it as she started to walk toward Twilight. Anger in her mind, not anger for not listening but for doing something so dangerous.
Twilight's expression changed as she saw Toriel's steps and face were one of an angry parent. Twilight stepped back as Toriel looked at her. “Twilight are you hurt?” Toriel asked the young girl. Shaking her head, Twilight was quiet. “What were you thinking! That was reckless and dangerous! You could have gotten hurt or worse! Then what would I do!” Toriel shouted at Twilight.
Twilight winced and shrunken down as Toriel shouted, “B-but…” Twilight started. Though she didn't like it, Twilight could feel her eyes water up. The dam was full of tears threatening to break out as Toriel interrupted her.
“But nothing! I wouldn't have forgiven myself if you got hurt! I can't believe you did that!” Toriel shouted her motherly instincts taken over. “I don't want you to ever do that again!” Toriel shouted. Twilight had started to cry quietly. Toriel looked down. Thinking on her next course of action Toriel kneeled as she got closer to Twilight. Before Toriel could check Twilight's soul to make sure she was fine Twilight had put her hands up as if to defend herself from something that wasn't there.
Toriel looked at Twilight quietly, Twilight waited for a blow but nothing happened. Twilight dared to open her eyes. Seeing Toriel staring at her confused Twilight lowered her hands. Toriel was going to say something, then Twilight started to cry. Toriel was surprised at this reaction, wanting to push Twilight on the topic. Twilight on the other hand could only keep crying “I- I am sorry. I'm sorry I just- I just wanted to make you more proud of me!” Twilight said. Toriel could feel a bit of her heart break at that statement.
Twilight had fallen to her knees. Holding onto herself Twilight started to hear voices from her past, “What a crybaby.” a boy's voice said, “Grow up” a female voice said. Twilight could barely see Toriel's face, the dam holding the tears back long gone as she could barely hear Toriel's voice. Another voice spoke up, “come on girls. Let's leave miss, I know everything alone.“ a girl's voice said. Twilight feeling a flurry of emotions, anger, sadness, regret, alone, scared, even guilty.. “Wait, you actually believed I was your friend? I was messing with you.” a males voice spoke in her mind.“Golly… you really are an idiot. Down here it’s kill or be killed!” Flowey said. Finally one voice boomed louder than all, “I wish you were as successful as your brother shining.” Twilight's father said as it echoed everywhere in her brain. Twilight felt something wrap around her.
Toriel had gotten to Twilight and held her as she cried. At first Twilight tried to run but realized who it was, “Im so sorry…” was all that Toriel said to Twilight, the young girl looking up at Toriel.”I shouldn't have yelled at you… and I want you to know I am super proud of you. No matter what. You must remember that.” Toriel said as she held Twilight close.
Twilight cried into Toriel's shirt, Toriel tried to sooth Twilight by gently running her fingers across Twilight's hair, “It's okay, it's okay I won't hurt you… not again I promise.” Toriel calmly stated to Twilight.
As a few minutes passed Twilight had slowly calmed down as she rubbed her redness puffy eyes. Toriel smiled at Twilight and thought of something to make the mood better and for the next lesson. “Twilight. Would you like to continue along the road?” Toriel asked Twilight, looking up at Toriel Twilight was unsure. “It won’t be a difficult one. After this room you would just need to wait.” Toriel explained
Twilight looked at Toriel confused. A bit unsure at the idea and a bit worried that she will still find a way to mess up Twilight look down “What do i have to do?” Twilight asked quietly as Toriel smiled.
“It may be a hard request but I just need you to just walk to the end of the room by yourself. I am sure you can handle that correctly?” Toriel asked. Twilight looked at Toriel though she was still saddened at the last event Twilight let Toriel say “Please forgive me.” Toriel said quietly as she turned around and started to run. Twilight was surprised at the sudden action.
Running after Toriel, Twilight saw the goat lady up ahead, worried at first Twilight felt as if she would be left to fend for herself in the ruins until she noticed Toriel ran to a nearby pillar and hid right behind it. Relaxing a bit, Twilight wiped her eyes and started to walk up to the pillar. The room was long and quiet, all except Twilight's footsteps and a small giggle as she got closer to the pillar. Waiting for a second to listen, Twilight had jumped on the other side of the pillar. Toriel smiled at Twilight.
Walking out of her hiding spot Toriel saw Twilight's unsure face. “Don't worry my child, you did amazing. Thank you for trusting me. In this exercise.” Toriel said as she kneeled down to Twilight. Twilight couldnt to help but smirk as Toriel continued. “However, there was an important reason for this exercise.”
Twilight waited a bit worried to hear the rest. “You see, though I know you have a hard time, I need to test your independence. I must attend to some business, and you must stay alone for a while.” Toriel started Twilight slowly looking down as her expression became one of worry.
“I'm sorry.” Twilight said to Toriel who was confused at the statement. “But please don't leave me. I can do better!” Twilight started as Toriel slowly grabbed Twilight's hand and held it in her palm.
“I won't leave you forever, my child. I will return to you. I just have some things I must work on before you can travel ahead. As I said , you must attend to some business, and you must stay alone for a while.” Toriel said Twilight slowly nodded, Toriel reached for one of her pockets.
Twilight looked around the room and then to Toriel, “What do I do if I have to run? Do I go to the spikes or ahead?” Twilight asked Toriel. Toriel looked at Twilight and nodded.
“If a threat arrives you hide behind the pillar and contact me as soon as you can. But make sure you are safe first, my child.” Toriel explained. Twilight looked at Toriel confused on how she would contact Toriel, that is when she saw the phone. “I will give you a cell phone. My number is already on the phone. If you have a need for anything, just call. Alright?” Toriel explained to Twilight who took the phone.
“Oh i- I never had a phone back then, What is this model? I have never seen one like this before.” Twilight said as she examined the phone in her hands. Toriel stood up as Twilight looked at her.
“It is what monsters use in the underground or what they used to, I think there is a new version. But for now this will work, remember to be safe and take care of yourself, if you get into a fight remember try to run or persuade them to stop. Be good, alright?” Toriel said
Nodding Twilight thought of something, before Toriel walked away Twilight had hugged Toriel's leg. Surpassing the goat, Lady Toriel put her hands around Twilight and hugged her, “I will return soon my child.” Toriel said as she and Twilight let go of the embrace. Toriel continued on her path as Twilight looked around the room and sat down next to the pillar. Looking at her phone Twilight quietly sighed as she waited. A few minutes passed as Twilight was tinkering with the phone, a bit interested in how the monster's technology worked in the underground.
Trying to open the phone Twilight wanted to see the technology within the cell phone. It was only a few since Toriel had left Twilight alone and she was quickly getting bored. Twilight had played tic tac toe by herself on the ground. She had thought of books and stories she could be reading, now wishing she brought books into the underground. As for now Twilight was interested in the tech the monsters had. With their puzzles and their phones Twilight was very interested. Until…
*RING...RING…* Twilight jumped a bit as she quickly stopped trying to pry the phone open and looked at the caller's id. The name *TORIEL* On the cell phone's mini screen. Pushing the answer button Twilight put the phone to her ear, a bit of her was not expecting to hear anyone since the service underground would cause no calls to go through. The other part of her was excited to hear Toriel again. “Hello?” Twilight asked into the phone.
“ Hello? This is Toriel,” The phone called out as Twilight was surprised at the call. “I am sorry to say but my errands are taking longer than I expected, you must wait five more minutes but if I can ask how things are going?”Toriel asked through the phone as Twilight smiled to herself.
“Everything is fine. I am just waiting for her. I'm a bit bored… B-but that's fine, I mean it's nice here!” Twilight said into the phone, “Everything is fine please take your time.” Twilight said.
“I am sorry for that, just remember please be safe and if anything happens just contact me. I will be back soon.” Toriel said to Twilight. Twilight automatically nodded even though Toriel couldn't see it.
“Mom, don't worry.” Twilight said, before Twilight realized what she just said Twilight looked at the phone. “Why did I say that! Maybe she didn't hear me!” Twilight thought.
“M-mom?” Toriel asked at first. Twilight bit her lip, “Well thank you Twilight. I will be back in five minutes.” Toriel said in her usual mood. Twilight took this opportunity
“Yes! See you. In five! Sorry!” Twilight shouted as she took the opening to stop the call. Putting her face into her hands as she groaned into them “Why did i say that! WHY!” Twilight asked no one in general. Sitting back onto the pillar Twilight closed her eyes. Quietly thinking about the last conversation Twilight shook her head wanting to think of something else.
“How in the world do they get service in the underground? Doesn't the mountain caves stop any signal?” Twilight thought to herself as she looked at the phone all around. Tapping on the keys Twilight smiled at the messages she could type. *RING...RING…* The phone went as Twilight jumped, throwing the phone up. “Oh no!” Twilight said as she quickly got up Twilight looked around and dived for the phone.
“That was close…” Twilight said as her left hand held on the phone a inch away from the ground *RING...RING…* The phone rang again as Twilight was confused at who would call her. Looking at the name on the phone it read *UNKNOWN* Knowing it wasnt Toriel's number that called her Twilight looked around as her thumb hovered over the answer button.
