Spike’s Bizarre Adventure
Chapter 13 - Jailbreak part one
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe visit to the hospital had honestly felt incredibly long to Spike, not the visit itself, but the journey to get there did.
The whole time he had been making his way there he was still in his own head about what he’d say to Twilight, besides admitting that she was right, he needed to apologize there was no other way around it, he wouldn’t stop investigating this Stand stuff but he knew better now, he couldn’t and wouldn’t do it alone.
Spike barely registered the feeling of the humid outside air slowly turning into a cool air conditioned one as he stepped through the automatic doors of the hospital, his mind finally focusing back on the real world as he came to the front desk, a pale white Pony could be seen sitting behind the desk and regarded him with a calm look.
“How may i help you?” They asked, Spike barely payed much attention, he just said what he needed.
“I’m here to visit Twilight Sparkle, she’s my…adoptive sister.” Spike calmly said “Is she accepting visitors?” He asked as his voice slightly cracked as he spoke.
The Nurse gave him a sympathetic look, seemingly recognizing the emotional state he was in “Visiting hours are still open but they will end in about an hour.” The nurse told him before lifting up a chart “Twilight Sparkle…third floor and tenth room from the elevator to your right.” The nurse instructed before sliding over a scrap of paper with the room number on it.
Spike numbly nodded and took the paper before slowly walking towards the elevator, he calmly hit the button and stepped into the elevator before sighing and hitting the button for the third floor.
As the doors closed, Spike couldn’t help but think to himself ‘what would he say to her?’ Of course he needed to apologize for being so bull headed but…what then? Just ask her to help him with this entire Stand situation? He couldn’t put that kind of pressure on her, then again Twilight was the smartest person he knew.
“God Dammit…” Spike sighed to himself as he ran a hand down his face in frustration “No matter what I do, I’m against a wall, if I want to learn anything about this Stand stuff or the arrow I’ll need Twilight’s brain…but…I can’t bring my sister into this nightmare, I’ve barely had my Stand a week and I’ve nearly died at least twice.” He leaned back pressing himself against the wall, taking a moment to try and wipe the forming tears in his eyes.
He didn’t have time to dwell in this for long as the elevator dinged, signifying he had reached the desired floor, and with a tired sigh he got off the wall and walked out.
For a moment he could feel DragonHeart try to manifest himself, but he suppressed it, he didn’t need anymore input right now, he just wanted to see his sister.
It didn’t take him long to find her room, but he couldn’t bring himself to open the door, he remembered not long ago he was in this very hospital when he awakened his own Stand.
Silently Spike dug through his pocket and pulled out the arrow head, his eyes darkened as his gloomy expression became one of anger.
This thing. This stupid arrowhead was the cause for all of this, if it didn’t exist, if Stands didn’t exist none of this would be happening.
Spike shut his eyes tight as he took a few calming breaths to keep his temper in check, however as he did so, he didn’t hear the hum of magic as the door opened up and he himself was slowly lifted up and carried into the room.
“Ok, no more beating around the bush, you need to go in and apologize to Twilight, you were an idiot and she deserves an apology, and if she’s not ready to forgive you that’s ok-“ Spike began to tell himself.
“Apology accepted little bro.” A female voice spoke up, one he didn’t recognize right away.
“HUH?!” Spike opened his eyes and looked around, he was in the hospital room, and Twilight was seen sitting up in bed offering him a small smile “Twi…” he spoke as he felt his lower lip quiver, before he quickly made his way over and hugged her “I’m sorry! I’m an asshole!” He shouted, his voice slightly muffled in her shoulder as his Sister was quick to return the hug.
“You’re also my little brother.” Twilight said softly as she gently ran her hand up and down Spike’s back to better console him “We need to…talk.” She spoke before letting out a small groan which cause Spike to part their hug early.
“What’s wrong with your voice?” He asked with a frown.
Twilight held up a finger before she reached over and grabbed a bottle of water, unscrewing the cap and quickly took a swig of the clear liquid before letting out a sigh “The smoke and heated air, kinda damaged my vocal cords slightly, I’ll be fine in…a few days…just hard to talk.” She winced.
Without missing a beat, Spike pulled out his phone and held it up “We can text if it’s easier.” He offered with a concerned look “I can even have it on read mode so I don’t keep looking down.” He added as Twilight slowly nodded.
Twilight calmly pulled out her own phone and began to text her brother who patiently waited before she sent her text.
“We need to talk about this Stand stuff.” Twilight’s text read out as Spike sighed.
“I agree…I got to hotheaded last time.” Spike said as he glanced away for a moment “The fire was started by a Stand user.” He told her as Twilight frowned before texting again.
“I figured as much, a girl flashed me a look as I was being loaded up, it is a long shot but it could have been her.” The text read as Spike nodded.
“There…is something else I should tell you, my roommate wound up getting stabbed by the arrowhead.” Spike said making Twilight frown “It was while I was sleeping and I had the thing in my pocket, my Stand wound up spitting it back after a few days, looks like there is some type of time limit to how long he can keep stuff in his gullet.” Spike sighed as Twilight began texting again.
“What happened after? What are his abilities or did the arrow wind up killing him like that girl?” She had asked through text once again.
“He’s alive, I don’t know the specifics but his Stand seems to let him turn himself into any kinda animal.” Spike admitted before holding up the arrowhead, a look of regret washing over him “Twilight…I am gonna need to be blunt, we need to learn more about this stuff, and not investigating this weird group connected to BlueBlood is no longer an option “ He said as, causing Twilight to frown “I mean it, they went after the school library around the same time you were there doing research, that can’t be a coincidence.” He frowned giving Twilight a look filled with shame and regret “It’s probably cause of me that you have a target on your back now, you might hate it but…we have to be the ones to stop this.”
“We?” Twilight asked after sending another text.
“I want to figure out how this arrow works, same with these Stand things.” Spike said “Just before I came here the thing reacted and acted like it had a mind of its own…I…I think the arrow can pick and choose who is able to get Stand or at least acts like a divining rod of some kind in relation to potential Stand users…but it is just a hunch.” Spike said as Twilight frowned at this before she began texting again.
“I see, who did the arrow wind up pointing you towards?” She asked as Spike rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
“Yeah, funny thing about that, the one it pointed to was…well…Fluttershy.” Spike admitted as Twilight just stared at him wide eyed “I didn’t let it stab her.” He quickly added which seemed to relax Twilight somewhat “But the thing seemed dead set on pulling me towards her, and despite how she is, if there’s one thing about Fluttershy I know is she can be really tough when she puts her hoof down.” He added with a shrug “So I guess that is a sign that she is worthy.” He said as Twilight frowned.
“That’s not really a scientific method.” She texted as Spike sighed.
“I know, but we are kinda pressed for time so, I want your help Twi.” He said as he placed the arrowhead on the table “I hate our situation but there isn’t much I can do about it but this, can you study this thing?” He asked which got Twilight to look at him in surprise “When you get discharged from the hospital I mean, I’m nowhere near as smart as you sis.” He said as Twilight looked at him with concern “It was only thanks to you and mom that I...that I got my grades up enough to get accepted into C.U I’m basically just dumb muscle.” He shrugged as Twilight narrowed her eyes.
“Don’t talk down to yourself like that Spike.” She texted, Spike was about to speak up but she held up a finger telling him to wait “You are NOT dumb, while it is true me and mom helped you study to get better grades but any improvement done on your academics were the result of your hard work, you put in the effort to better yourself, so I will help you, but little bro you need to stop with the self deprecation.” She texted as Spike looked shocked at this.
“Y-you mean it? You’ll help?” He asked with a smile as Twilight nodded in response.
“Yes.” She texted back “But it has been a long day, I think it be best if we call it for now, once I’m discharged I’ll see what I can do about looking into this.” She continued before using her magic to take the arrowhead from her brother “But until then, I’ll teleport this somewhere safe.” She said and before Spike’s eyes, the arrowhead had Vanished.
“You sure about that?” Spike asked nervously as Twilight responded by pulling him into a hug.
“It’s gonna be fine Spike…” Twilight managed to say as she hugged her brother “Today has been way to stressful, tomorrow comeback with the girls and your roommate and we can work on a game plan ok?” She croaked out as Spike returned the hug.
“You’re right Twi, it has been a long day…and…just thank you, for putting up with my shit.” He said as Twilight patted his back.
Today had been hard but as long as the two siblings stuck together they could persevere.
However as the duo hugged, Spike didn’t seemed to notice that the arrowhead had silently react towards his sister before it vanished earlier…but Twilight had.
-Later that night
Canterlot P.D, it had been abuzz the last few days thanks to one of their newest inmates, the infamous Prince BlueBlood, being held there awaiting trial where if found guilty, would be transferred to a more secure prison.
However it was unsurprising that many of the ‘elite’ of Canterlot would be vocal on their opinions about the situation, especially once word got out about the details of the incident.
“This is absurd!” A mare shouted in outrage, by her side were several other ponies of clear noble or uppercrust standing had rallied together “BlueBlood is clearly being framed!” She protested as the guards continued to keep the protesting crowd from trying to get in.
“That damn Dragon is clearly framing him! He should be the one behind bars!” Another noble protested.
“Disguising…” Celtis scowled as he watched from the alleyway at the gathered nobles “You sure we can’t just kill them all? I doubt anyone would miss these pieces of trash.” He growled.
“Tempting, but keep in mind they are providing us a distraction to slip in.” Sunny pointed out as she stepped forward with a spyglass in hand “Let’s see…” she trailed off looking over at the guards stationed around the precinct with the device “Littlebit of him, maybe some of her, a nice splash of the two in the front.” She muttered to herself.
Celtis took a moment to eye the Spyglass, it was unusual to say the least, bronze in color with some odd leather handgrip around the base, the lens itself actually seemed to resemble a functioning eye of some kind, it took him only a moment to realize it was some type of Stand.
“Is that how you’ve been able to mimic appearances?” Celtis asked with a grunt, Sunny taking a moment to stop her actions to shoot him a smirk.
“You are a smart one, I like that, this is indeed how I’ve done it, my Stand 「Grand Facade」” She explained before going back to scoping out the crowed before finally smirking in satisfaction “That should do it.” She said, before her Stand vanished and she placed a hand on Celtis’s shoulder.
The male Buck flinched at her touch and sent her a glare, only to go wide eyed as someone else stood in the Mare’s place.
A Stallion royal guard Pegasus, roughly looking to be a Clydesdale with a mix of brown and white fur and a disheveled mane, however once he spoke, it was clear he was not who he seemed.
“What do you think?” The guard asked in Sunny’s voice with a teasing smirk, this stunned Celtis even further as he moved his hand up in surprise, and froze as he saw his own arm was no longer his own.
A quick once over of his reflection in a nearby window showed that Celtis was now a dark red Earth Pony, after a moment he slowly gave Sunny a dry look.
“You’re despicable.” He said simply as Sunny snickered at his annoyed expression.
“Oh get over yourself, how did you think we were gonna sneak in?” She snorted while examining her currently male physique. “Had to use Grand Facade to copy bits and pieces of the people in the crowd and the guards to create these excellent disguises, so be grateful.” She huffed before walking forward while motioning for Celtis to follow her “We are gonna go around the back just to be safe, chances are of we go through the crowd you’d wind up sucker punching one of those protestors and start a whole new riot.” She pointed out and began to walk away.
Celtis frowned but remained silent as he followed after Sunny, truth is she was mostly right, if they went through that crowd there would be very little stopping him from using his Stand to infect the crowd with his mold purely out of spite.
“One issue with your plan, what if a guard sees us and notices we aren’t normal guards one would see around the precinct?” Celtis asked her as he walked beside her as they had managed to slip past without being detected.
“Officers visit other precincts all the time, if anyone ask who you are, tell them your name is…ugh bollocks what’s a believable earth pony name…Sprout…just say your name is Sprout or something.” Sunny told him as Celtis sighed.
“Let’s just do this, sooner we kill BlueBlood the better.” Celtis muttered with a look of disdain, as he slipped into the alleyway next to the precinct he took a moment to glance back, giving the gathered crowed at the front of the building a look of contempt “He caused a innocent woman’s death, and they insist he’s innocent? Nobles truely are utter filth.” He spat.
“That is something we can agree on.” Sunny said as she walked past him, the two walked only a couple of feet into the ally before they spotted a back door.
“Chances are that locks from the other side.” Celtis pointed out with a frown, before catching Sunny gesturing for him to go ahead “Right.” He said before walking up to the door and calmly wrapped his hand around the knob before pressing his free hand right on the slit between the doorframe and the door itself “Infected Mushroom.” He called the name of his Stand, and mold soon began to grow on the small narrow gap, filling it to the brim with fungus.
After only a moment, the door popped open allowing the duo access into the building.
“So, what are we gonna be walking into? I can’t imagine they would just throw a high status douche like BlueBlood in an ordinary cell.” Celtis frowned as the duo made their way into the building.
“Smart boy, an ally of ours was a former guard at this very precinct, there is a basement level cell block that they put the more…let’s say flight risk inmates.” Sunny said as Celtis gave her an annoyed look.
“If one of your buddies is a former guard, then why are we doing this and not them?” Celtis frowned “Wouldn’t they know this place inside and out?”
“Well, main reason we can’t use them for this little excursion is because this is a test of your loyalty…also because when he quite he left something on the chiefs desk that thoroughly burned that bridge to hell and back.” Sunny revealed as Celtis scrunched up his nose in disgust “It’s not what you think.”
“Oh, oh thank goodness-“ Celtis began before Sunny cut him off.
“It was worse.” She added with a grin as Celtis face palmed at her words.
“Let’s…let’s just find a way to this sub level.” Celtis frowned as he looked around, no one else in the building seemed to pay them any mind, some were just in the middle of processing some other criminals, he found himself rather surprised that there seemed to be more Pony convicts being brought in than any of the non-ponies.
“You two.” A voice calmly spoke up catching their attention, a guard was walking towards them, he was a black furred Earth Pony dressed in the standard guard armor, at his side he was escorting another Earth Pony, this one being pale blue and had their hands cuffed behind their back “You must be the new recruits right?” He asked calmly while Celtis noticed he was keeping a firm grip on his captive who oddly seemed rather calm about his situation.
“Yea.” Sunny spoke, her voice now sounding deeper and more masculine to match her disguise.
“I need you both to bring this guy down to the basement cells, he’s the last of the transfers from the normal Cells.” The guard said as he pushed the Stallion forward, however his words provided ample opportunity for the duo.
“Basement Cells?” Celtis asked with a convincing confused tone.
“Right, you must be real new, just take him to the elevator and hit the basement and first floor buttons at the same time, you will see what I mean.” The guard said as Sunny calmly took hold of the cuffed Stallion.
“Right, we will take care of this sir, just make sure those nut jobs outside don’t cross the line.” Sunny said in passing as she and Celtis walked away with the prisoner.
The two didn’t say much else to each other, but they both did silently share a look as they reached the elevator, however a Celtis soon broke the silence by addressing their captive.
“So, what’s your name?” He asked the old Stallion calmly as Sunny silently hit the buttons as she had been instructed.
For a moment, the Stallion just hummed in thought, not really answering for a moment until the elevator doors closed.
“My name…Is Virgil.” He said with a smile as the doors slid shut, oddly seeming eager to be taken to his inevitable cell.
Little did Celtis or Sunny know, they were not the only ones who wanted to pay BlueBlood a visit, but they would soon find out.
