Trauma can be good too.
After Twilight was accepted into the organization she expected a lot of people that like her, but it was nothing like that. Not only was Tadaomi surprisingly warm, the ponies surrounding him felt nothing like the ponies during her kidnapping. No blank stares, no broken bodies. Everyone seemed healthy, if a bit alert. She noticed some ponies hiding knifes even. But she wasn't sure why.
Plenty of ponies were just walking around in an secret underground city, Filled with buildings. However some buildings were devoid of any life signs. Making some buildings totally empty. Of course the more buildings there are, the more this underground city feels unreal. Though Twilight has already experienced her own fair share of underground mayhem during her stay at the underground prison where she received a lot of 'Activities'.
"You might be surprised to find such a large city. But don't worry. Some of these buildings are fake." Tadaomi stated, "They are used as classrooms regarding the several other teachings in this city."
"You said classrooms... is this city one big academy?" Twilight stoically asked.
"Yes. This academy teaches ponies and stallions the ways of killing and stealth. However our school is primarily used in the underground or black market if you will. To kill as a hitman. To assassinate some powerful beings. Which in some cases are trained in our faculty. Me and two others are targets. Of course the faculty is larger, but most aren't test targets." Tadaomi explained.
"Who are?" Twilight asked, she showed no bloodlust. But Tadaomi could tell that she was showing... a little bit of emotion.
"Me, Tadaomi Karasuma. Our professional hitpony, Irena Jelavic. And our headmaster, Koro-sensei. By the way, don't try to assassinate our headmaster just yet. He is technically immortal. And insanely fast." Tadaomi warned.
"Hm. I see. I am sorry. I do not care about him anyways. No amount of bounty matters much anyways." Twilight said, she truly didn't care. She was happy enough to have a home and a job. No need to attempt to kill those she needs.
"Twilight. Are you sure? His bounty is in the billions." Tadaomi asked slightly confused.
"Sir. I am not hired to kill him. I am just a beginner. I doubt I stand much of a chance. Besides..." Twilight said as she gave him... an odd smile. It felt weird, but it has been a while since she last gave a smile, whether fake or real. She wasn't so sure anymore.
"Hm?" Tadaomi said slightly confused.
"Atleast I have no need to worry about my enemies in here." Twilight coldly admits.
"You care more that you are safe, then money?" Tadaomi asked surprised.
"Sir. What would I even be able to do with all that money? I have no hobbies, no other home. No family. All I have is this crossbow and some bolts. Sure I could upgrade it, but a small sum is enough for me." Twilight calmly explained.
"I see. No amount of abuse will remove your humble nature... I like it. Alright. So, what do you wish to learn?" Tadaomi asked.
"Right now I have no wishes. Assign me anything." Twilight simply stated.
"How about sharpshooting and crossbow knowledge? Sharpshooting will teach you how to shoot under a multitude of situations and crossbow knowledge to allow a greater arrangement of attachments and general knowledge." Tadaomi suggested.
"Sure." Twilight calmly said, though its clear there was something else she wanted. But she feared for a punishment if she spoke up. Tadaomi noticed this, but said nothing about it.
Instead, Twilight followed Tadaomi around for a while. He attempted to show Twilight the grounds, but she simply paid no attention to any of it. Instead all she remembered from the tour was the two locations where her lessons would take place. And also the dormitory. She would share it with two other ponies.
"Nice to meet you. My name is Rio Nakamura and this is Rinka Hayami." Rio said introducing herself and her roommate.
"Hello. You are a bit young, but we accept anyone." Rinka said slightly surprised.
"Hm." Twilight nodded, but said otherwise nothing.
"Alright. Twilight your class and Rinka's classes are the same. But to put things simple. Here is the schedule. I wish you the best of luck. And Rio, Rinka, she has gone through some terrible shit. Please be careful what you say." Tadaomi warned before leaving.
"Yes, Sensei!" Rio answered. Before Tadaomi was out of sight.
"So you are Twilight? You are a bit young, may I ask what happened?" Rinka asked with a worried voice.
"To put things simple. Abuse." Twilight coldly admitted.
"How bad?" Rio asked.
"Define bad." Twilight calmly asked while taking a seat at one of the two bunk beds and placing her crossbow suitcase on top of said bed.
"As in torture or blackmail?" Rio asked.
"Torture. Oh and I am still technically being chased." Twilight calmly stated. As soon as she admitted to torture, Rio and Rinka's eyes widen. They both look at each other, before slowly giving Twilight a hug. Much to her displeasure.
"I am sorry for asking. Anyways, we are going to also be classmates huh? How good are ya?" Rinka asked in a slightly competitive tone.
"Fine for a beginner. My desire for escaping my chasers pushed my ability further." Twilight said.
"Beginner?! Tadaomi allowed a beginner in?!" Rinka shouts surprised.
"More like saved her, when he got the opportunity. He still has a contract with her, remember?" Rio simply answered.
"Right. The sun mistress." Rinka rolled her eyes.
"Well I have killed someone silently, at a party with Princess Celestia nearby." Twilight offered.
"Oh? Real job experience? I suppose that makes up for the beginner status." Rinka said sarcastic.
"I am sorry." Twilight drooped. Causing Rinka to sigh. Even she can see the negative emotions behind her calm mask. She may act calm and quiet, but she was far from quiet.
"Sorry about Rinka. She takes her job as sharpshooter very serious. She tries her best to be professional about her job. Which might make her a bit hard to please." Rio offered as condolence.
Twilight sighed, "I know the feeling. I want to be seen as strong... but I am sure even you can see my... less pleasant nature below it. My mask I mean. It's merely a way to protect myself. I am sure you understand." she admitted.
"And I do. Honestly. But its hard for me to suddenly accept new students. Especially with the goal we have." Rinka admitted.
"If you mean your headmaster, then you mustn't worry. I have no interest in your headmaster. I am already glad to have a roof above my head and a place to work at." Twilight said dismissive.
"I see. Regardless our first class starts in two hours. Which is Sharpshooting. Today Koro-Sensei is our teacher. So you might notice students attempting to assassinate him in the middle of class. Also Koro-Sensei isn't a pony, so don't be afraid. Unless angered, he is harmless." Rinka warned.
"What was today's lesson anyways?" Rio asked curious.
"Long distance shooting. And as an added bonus, we can target Koro-Sensei as additional target." Rinka said excited.
"You said that he isn't a pony. What is he?" Twilight asked slightly curious.
"And octopus with supernatural abilities. One of which is, he can only be killed used bb like bullets containing a special liquid that is Anti-Koro. So all our guns may seem like ordinary guns, they can't actually harm us ponies. Lead rounds or bolts don't work on him." Rinka explained.
"Oh! And super speed. He can do something like mach 15. With is about fifteen times faster than the speed of sound." Rio added.
"Is that so? He seems like an interesting fellow." Twilight said.
"Oh and if we don't kill him in time, then he is going to doom the world. Since the form he has is unstable and can eventually destroy the world." Rio added even further.
"Ah. So that is why the bounty is that high. I am sorry to say this, but I couldn't care less." Twilight said after taking a minute soak this information in.
"Why?" Rinka asked slightly surprised.
"Something tells me, that everything is going to be just fine. Without my interference." Twilight simply stated.
"I see. Well you might have noticed ponies and stallions hiding their knife, well they wanted to attempt to assassinate Tadaomi, but well. You were in the way. So nopony actually did anything." Rio explained.
Either Twilight didn't listen, or didn't care. Since she just cut herself off the conversation to clean her crossbow. She slowly disassembled her crossbow, her reassembled it while also removing the dust off it. Rio and Rinka instantly realized that she was ignoring them. Which annoyed Rio. However Rinka realized that this was a way for Twilight to cope with new information.
Rio growled slightly, before dropping it.
"Anyways class is starting in ten minutes. Believe me, you don't want to be late. Are you coming, beginner?" Rinka asked calmly.
Twilight nodded as she quickly reassembled her crossbow, before joining Rinka. As they walked back towards class. Which they reached in give or take, five minutes or so. And by the time they were there, they were the first. Well besides Koro-sensei that is.
"So you must be Twilight, correct?" The yellow octopus named Koro-sensei asked.
"Yes sir." Twilight stated.
"Good. Your stay in the prison hasn't reduced your mannerism. That is good. Truth be told, I have been watching you. Even inside the prison, but chose to merely watch not actually intervene." Koro-sensei admitted.
"I understand. You mustn't act without knowing the full context of the situation, correct?" Twilight deduced as she showed a bit of her own personality.
Koro-sensei smiled at this, "Among other reasons, but yes. That is also a perfectly acceptable reasoning. Other reason was, because of you. I was specifically told not to interfere by one of the princesses." he explained.
"I see. May I ask something of you?" Twilight politely asked.
"Certainly, what is it?" Koro-sensei asked curiously.
"Will you save those other ponies now that I am out of the equation?" Twilight asked hopeful.
Koro-sensei's smile turned sad, "I want to, I really do. But I cannot. That place is under the protection by one of the princesses." he admits.
"Then... Can I one day save them? With your help that is?" Twilight asked hopeful.
"I cannot promise that... but perhaps one day. For now, you need to care for yourself. As you are still not ready to do so." Koro-sensei stated.
"Alright. So now what?" Twilight asked causing her stoic face to return once more.
"Let's wait for the other students. Oh! But before I forget. Take these special bolts. They are going to be your bolts during your use on campus ground. Outside of campus ground, you may use the metal bolts once more." Koro-sensei said as he grabs a piece of paper and wraps it around the bolts, before giving it to Twilight.
"Special anti-Koro bolts I presume?" Twilight asked.
"Yes. But they are harmless against other ponies. Meaning they are safe." Koro-sensei explained.
"Alright. I care little about their purpose, but if they won't accidentally kill another student then that is fine." Twilight stated slightly pleased.
"Twilight I do have a quick question about your stay in that prison. Is there perhaps a reason why you wish to save them as soon as possible?" Koro-sensei asked worried.
"Yes. We staged a massive distraction in the form of a brawl. Giving me precious time to escape. One of the prisoners actually told me to try and make connections with Tadaomi. Said that she is a student." Twilight explained.
Koro-sensei's eyes went wide in shock, "What was his or her's name?" he asked worried.
"Uhm. I think she was lying about being a student. She seemed too old for that. Her name was Aguri Yukimura. She was the only one in the prison that gave me sparkle of hope. I truly hope she is alright." Twilight said. The moment Aguri's name was mentioned, the moment Koro-sensei's color went from yellow to black instantly.
"What was her condition when you left?" Koro-sensei asked in sheer rage.
"Actually better than me. I took a lot of punishments that she would have otherwise received. The prison keepers actually said that my condition was the worst of all the prisoners. So I assume in a lot better condition than me." Twilight stated.
"Thank you. I am going to go and teach that prison a lesson. Fuck the vow, fuck the princess in charge. Time to show who I really am." Koro-sensei said enraged as he took off in a speed faster than mach 15. Causing Twilight to nearly get blown away by the sheer wind pressure.
"..." Twilight blinked for a moment. Only to also dash after Koro-sensei with a lot of speed as well. Not mach 15 perhaps. But a lot of speed regardless. Running past Tadaomi in the blink of an eye.
Tadaomi in turn blinked as he watches Twilight run lightning speed after Koro-sensei. It caused him to pause, before using his magic to tell his agents to follow Koro-sensei and Twilight.
As Twilight was somehow keeping up. Twilight followed Koro-Sensei to the border of the prison. When her sheer instinct of fear hit her like a truck. Causing her to stop dead in her tracks. But she wasn't the only one that was shocked. Koro-Sensei was also dumbstruck at the sight before him.
The whole prison got hit by something. Which absolutely obliterated it. The prison and every building in a ten mile radius was gone. Almost the crater of a meteorite impact. However both Twilight and Koro-Sensei knew that wasn't it. As Twilight was the first to calmly and carefully walked into the crater, she inspected the area carefully.
The first thing that stood out, was that not the entire building was destroyed. This was unusual, since everything else around the building was simply gone. Roads, buildings, signs of life itself. Simply gone. Obliterated by whatever hit the area.
The second thing Twilight noticed was an unusual smell. She looked around and saw something damning. A anti-Koro bullet which appear to have been used. The content of the round itself was gone, all that was left was the empty shell.
"Sir. Take a look at this." Twilight beaconed at Koro-Sensei.
Koro-Sensei looked at Twilight slightly surprised, before carefully walking over to her. Once he had arrived, he looked at the unusual sight. An empty anti-Koro round.
"This is..." Koro-Sensei said as he connected the dots.
"It isn't the only rounds. This odd smell. There might have been a lot of rounds being fired, probably all of them Anti-Koro." Twilight calmly stated.
"It is. I remember this smell... Do you think that she might be dead?" Koro-Sensei asked drooping slightly at the question itself.
Twilight calmly shook her head, "No way. This prison had an emergency escape in case of unusual events. I doubt they let all the prisoners simply die. After going to the trouble of kidnapping all of us."
"That makes sense. Say, Twilight. Did you experience experimentation on you?" Koro-Sensei asked worried.
"Yes." Twilight calmly stated, however Koro-Sensei saw fear behind her eyes. Fear only an experiment could experience.
"Was it... No nevermind. So now what?" Koro-Sensei asked.
"I suggest going back. And perhaps reporting your... mistress about your lapse in promises. Meanwhile I just skipped class on my first day... That isn't a good outlook." Twilight suggested.
Koro-Sensei smiled as he ruffles Twilight hair. "Don't worry. I am sure the faculty understands. I shall personally inform them. If Tadaomi hasn't done so already."
"They are watching... Aren't they?" Twilight said unusually alert.
Koro-Sensei replied by grabbing Twilight and flying in super speed back to the underground city. Twilight meanwhile saw a glimpse of the agents that were following them.
"They had the same suits as Tadaomi... Are they related?" Twilight asked.
"No. Same organization. They are here to monitor me." Koro-sensei simply explained.
"Are you really as dangerous as they say you are? Because... I have seen dangerous. And you aren't one of them." Twilight asked.
"My Koro powers could blow up the world." Koro-sensei warned.
"Perhaps. And yet something tells me, you are lying to yourself." Twilight simply said.
Koro-sensei's eyes widen slightly. "You... are very similar to Aguri."
Twilight smiled, "I was told that... a lot."
"But?" Koro-sensei asked slightly worried.
"I am Aguri... if she was able to endure torture AND being experimented on. Which she isn't, by the way." Twilight simply stated.
"I wanted to ask you this earlier... But what exactly did those experiments entail?" Koro-Sensei asked.
"Well they said that they were trying to make the perfect hitman using cybernetic parts. Apparently the government paid them to do so... Not Equestria's government but... an outside organization. But it kept failing when they tried on adults. So they checked if it would work on children." Twilight explained.
"Did it work?" Koro-Sensei asked slightly worried.
Twilight sighed and looked down. Her ears going on the side in sadness, "Yes."
Author's Note
Oh and if you are wondering. Yes you will experience some of the torture she face in the future. For now, Twilight and Koro-sensei will be seen often together. Another thing, as optimist, writing such a story is... hard. Very hard.
Also this is also giving you some "Gunslinger Girl" anime vibes. It is an inspiration.
So don't expect too many updates. But don't worry. Once one of my other stories is finished. This story will receive a lot more updates. However that might take a while. So expect irregular and slow updates.
