A young colt named Midnight Tempest reads into the life of an ancestor, and believes he has found his true meaning in life. This path forces him to leave his home and discover for himself the reasons behind his families many secrets, and what to do with the knowledge that he gains through the many years of secluded study. In the end he will have to decide if his discovery will be a used for the good of all ponykind or if it is too dangerous to fall into the wrong hooves.
