The way out.

The darkness was slowly fading as a small light appeared. "The end of the tunnel" A small voice said as the insect-like pony picked up it's pace. It was glad to have fresh-air instead of being in the still air of the dark caves. It slowed down, reminding itself that it had no rush, no time constraint, no orders. It was free now. The pony withdrew into a shivering ball when a drop of water dripped off a nearby stalactite. It opened it's big round eyes and looked up. It's eyes were Aquamarine, different from the other changelings, but it's eyes weren't the only thing different. It shook its head and got up. "It's okay Torn Flitter" The pony said to it's self. Just a few more hours and you will be away from these caves and into the warmth of, Equestrya" It shook it's head. "Equestria."  The changeling started to walk again, thinking of why she must leave her sheltered home, her sheltered family and her sheltered life.

At first she remembered the Hivemind. It was glorious to hear the Queen's clear and straight to the point voice drown out those of the Drones and Sargent's. The Queen loved all of her subjects, making sure that they had the love that they needed. She remembered Chrysalis's words. The rules passed down from Changeling generation to Changling generation, from the earliest of the Changling race's existence. The rules that there were only limited females, and only the best female would survive and take over the Queen's plot. The other female changelings would be tourchered until there was nothing left of them. The life that she had to give up. She sighed, she would miss her mother but it was either be exiled or be dead. She tried to remember the story her mom told her when she was smaller.

Torn Flitter hatched out of an egg surrounded in gooey substance, just like the rest of the changelings. She didn't receive her name until foalhood, due to old Changeling tradition, so that the Hive wouldn't grow attached to her and her unique name, in case of Torn Flitter died before foalhood. She lived most of her hatchling life in peace. When she was about the age of a foal, her wings proved weak, weaker then the rest of the changelings, she was a bit taller and thinner as well. The other changelings loved Princess Torn, and tried to urge her to take more love, because of her skinny, sleek body although she refused. One of Torn Flitters older sisters, Princess Broken Reflection wished to be the next Queen. She had to find away of getting rid of Torn, because most changleings were fond of Torn's personality.  At one dinner, long after Torn Flitter fell asleep, Broken Reflection brought something up to Queen Chrysalis that changed her viewpoint on the smaller princess. Torn Flitter's lack of flight and her soft demeanor. A weak spot for Changeling raids.  Chrysalis thought for minutes, which turned to hours. Princess Broken Reflection did have a point after all. But with everyling's fondness towards Princess Torn Flitter, would it be right to exile her? Chrysalis had to take action. She didn't need Torn Flitter in the army, even though she loved her daughter dearly. It was either look weak or be strong. She summoned up her courage and called a Changeling meeting.

Torn Flitter clearly remembered the meeting. The parts when the older changelings refused and argued among themselves, before getting tackled by magic. She remembered her sister's sinister glare. The worst thing she remembered was getting her connection torn away. Her horn connected her to the Hivemind, and her mother. Without it she would be nothing. She wouldn't be a part of the other changleings lives anymore. She would not be a Changeling princess anymore. Overall, the biggest thing she would miss was her connection with her family, the one who stood beside her and loved her. It was rare to have a changeling love you, Love is just a source of food. The love that Chrysalis gave her daughter was genuine love, it was unmistakable.

Torn Flitter open her eyes again, her small inset-like wings were flapping vigorously. The memory scared her. It made her remember there could be a changeling sent out to kill her. She almost locked down again but realized she was almost at the end of the cave. She felt warmth, the Sun, a warm summer's breeze. This was her new home. She heard a voice from somewhere, then quickly remembered that she had to change into a discuise. She used the last of her magic to change into a pony. She admired her transformation, although it flawed in changing her eyes. Her mane was now a luxurious pink, her coat was a pastel yellow, and her wings. They were the same as any regular pegasi's! She shook her head, remembering that there was another pony around and looked forward. She saw a little village, then saw it. It was a cyan pegasi, heading right towards her! She sidestepped it's path and it crashed right beside her. It dusted itself off and murmured something.

"Shouldn't an egghead like you be in school?"
