(Two weeks later)

The courier nodded his head to the song while he reached for a welding torch and his lenses adjusted to the sudden flash of light darkening his vision so as not to blind him from the light. Welding the two metal panels on the freshly built hangar that Courier six spent the last three days building from the ground up, getting away from the panel the courier couldn't help himself from shuffling slightly from the song.

Putting the tool away in his pip-boy the courier stepped forward but stopped while a large robot rolled past him holding a large military crate over to the first hangar.

"🎵 A little bit of rock a little bit of roll, a itty bitty little bit of rock n roll🎵,"

Walking onto the tarmac the courier walked over to the large device before summoning a cup while going to a faucet on the machine and twisting it. Pure filtered water poured out before he unstrapped his trusty helmet from his head and put the headgear on a pipe that came off the machine before bringing the cup to his lips to drink the clear liquid.

Smiling at the amount of progress that happened over a few short days with all the tech from Mr. House and the big empty had turned this lifeless spot in no-man's land into a self-sustaining settlement. Automated robots buzzed about, sure they were no securitrons but the Sentry bots, Mr. Gutsy, and eye-bot copies buzzed about working hard on the base.

Mr. House did have blueprints for an 'assaultron' but the courier didn't really want to build up his new home up fast as possible before working on anything new, he might have to up a pin it later on. But after all, was done he was going to relax because he desperately need a vacation after fighting literally zombies in a red toxic cloud to batshit former NCR and Legion who loathed him more than the citizens of vegas.

In the next few days the courier's new home would be completed all with the essentials, a Biological research machine copy with Mr. handys working the maizes to turn into Salient or biodiesel for fuel. One of few the tribes of vegas, the Boomers were like his second family like that of Goodsprings, taught him a lot though he might have copied the blueprints for 'the lady' and VR simulation training without them knowing.

Hell, his new home was heavily based on Nelis!

Two hangars one a storage unit while the other was... well a hangar, his actual house was nothing too complex just a nice building that would be where the wrecked air tower was. He was still working on stuff 'under' everything but nothing too major just yet even he had to take his time working on all this.

Like his vault 34 friends, he had the same idea of how to deal with unwanted guests.

Differently, of course, some minor artillery nothing over a 155 shell...

Two warning shots, one to tell them to get the fuck back, the other to scare, but the third?

Well... his pip-boy did say he was prone to making a 'bloody mess' of threats.

Plus a minefield around the area if they get too close but not close enough to the chainlink fence with razor wire and about 10,000 volts running through it.

That is if they don't read the literal signs that ED-E used from the solid sand bricks that were used for warning signs so anyone can leave him alone!

This world wasn't his own, best not get involved in any politics or anything.

"*BEEP!*" ED-E caused the Courier to jump while turning to his metal friend.

"What?"

"*Angry beeping*"

"Oh, that's..." The courier lifted his pip-boy before seeing the time. "SHIT I FORGOT WHAT TIME IT WAS!'

Stopping the music and grabbing his helmet ED-E and the courier bolted towards the 'house' next to the first hangar.

(Meanwhile, not far away)

"Are you insane?" The Giant catfish shouted at the sly red-coated Abyssinian who was none other than Capper, and back to his old tricks again. "That's No-man's land! We'll never make it across there without dying of thirst!"

"Come on now whiskers you worry too much... I got everything covered this isn't my first time crossing no-man's land. the Abyssian lands are just a hop skip away," The cat lied, this was his first time crossing the hardened sand wasteland but they didn't know that.

"Bullshit,"

"Really you don't believe me... well I guess you'll have to find another way to the Abyssian lands... oh wait Equestria has already set up board portals," Capper reminded the walking Catfish. "look pal there is only one way to get either to the Zebra lands or my homeland without any ponies shaking you down for all your hard-earned savings. Going through No-man's land is your best bet,"

"Your one to talk... we barely have any money left for ourselves," The Catfish said.

"Hey, A cat got to make a living somehow and besides I accounted for everything... including water," Capper smirked with his hands in his pockets.

"Really? You that tiny bottle doesn't look like it can help any of us," The Catfish pointed to the metal bottle on Capper's belt.

"Whiskers... you really need to understand... Capper's got everything covered," The Abyssinian pulled out a water stone.

All of the small group had their eyes glued on the apple size blue gem in Capper's hand.

"Where did you get that?" The catfish asked.

"A friend..." He slipped it back into his coat. "So if any of you cats get thirsty come to old Capper... this stone is charged and ready to sate your thirst for no extra fee on me but showers are going to cost you extra,"

The group of former residents of Klugetown who were on edge about the whole idea knew with a rare magical item like that they could make it across with no problem. Sure enough, the fish took a bite of Capper's bait and they were off to the land of cats with him leading the way with the biggest smile on his face.

'This is going to be the easiest gig ever,'

(Back with the courier and ED-E hours later)

"*Victory Trumpet*" ED-E cheered while the courier cursed throwing his cards down on the table while ED-E gave what sound like chirping but was actually the Eyebot's version of a laugh as he yet again beat the courier at a game of Tragic.

Pointing his hand at the metal ball he was pissed.

"I swear your cheating!"

"*Mocking beeping*"

"That's still cheating! I don't have the entire rule book downloaded into my brain!" The courier leaned back in his chair. "God, why do I even bother playing with you anymore..."

"*Beeping*"

At ED-E's beeping the courier his head turned to the other table with a bunch of plastic figures waiting on a desk with small jars of paint and brushes waiting ever since he pulled him from his pip-boy.

"Eh... I'll do those later,"

Getting up Six walked over to the Nuka-cola Fridge before pulling out a root beer, popping the cap off he lifted the bottle up and began to chug down the homemade soda. ED-E played a light tune while cleaning up the cards of pre-war game but then stopped when the courier began to cough.

"*Worried beeping*"

The courier smiled holding his hand up.

"Sorry ED-E it went down the wrong pipe! There see perfectly I'm-" He then began to cough harder but to the point where he drop to his knees.

ED-E rushed over to the courier's side worried for his friend.

"*Even more worrying beeping*" ED-E didn't know what to do before his friend coughed one last time ending his coughing fit.

Six groaned before looking at his hand and flinching at the sight before him.

"Is that... my tooth?" Confused the courier rose up seeing his tooth had come out along with some blood but only from his tooth. "The hell,"

"*confused beeping*"

"Yeah... you can say that again,"

Walking over to the table again where they were just playing their game the courier stared at his tooth, confused at how it shot out of his mouth.

"It doesn't have a root," Looking at his lost canine tooth the courier turned to his pip-boy in confusion checking to see if it could show what was happening to him.

But nothing?

It said he was perfectly healthy... The two then turned to the homemade soda spilled on the floor.

"*Beep*"

"Yeah... probably a bad mix,"

"*Beep?*"

"No, I'll lay off soda today,"

Standing up the courier walked over to his desk putting the lost tooth on his nightstand while moving his tongue to the gap between his teeth having lost one of his canines. Pulling off his duster the floating robot then spoke up.

"*Commanding beeping*"

"Okay, dad! Jeez, I was going to take a shower anyways... it's not like-"

*BOOM!*

The two flinched at the sound of one of the artillery cannons firing.

"WHAT THE FUCK!"

(Outside)
(10:31 pm)

"WHAT WAS THAT!" One of the refugees shouted in a panic hearing the loud boom.

"Was that thunder?"

"No, you idiot! Were in No-Man's land! It doesn't rain out here,"

"But..."

"Shhhhhh!" Capper held out a hand confused at what he heard too while looking in the star-filled sky, there wasn't a single cloud in the sky but then his eyes turned down to what seemed to be...

Lights?

They were dim but you could clearly see light not too far away from where they were.

Confused Capper narrowed his eyes trying to get a better look.

That looked like some kind of settlement... but that was impossible.

The sand was way too thick to dig down to the water below.

"Guys! Check it! Lights there is a town out here!" A Landshark shouted noticing the lights that Capper saw too.

Before the Abyssianin could say anything the refugees bolted to the lights before he could say anything, but before he could join them his cat-like eyes spotted something. Walking over to the strange object, it looked like some kind of small pillar, but having to lift his lantern Capper's eyes widen.

It was a sign...

A warning sign.

"GUYS WAIT DON'T GO ANY FURTHER!" But Capper's words were barely heard as the second loud boom of thunder was heard, the group did stop again but not before hearing something.

It sounded like something was falling from the-

Capper was thrown back as from a few dozen feet away from him a blast of bright orange and yellow roared from an empty spot of sand. His ears ringing Capper pushed himself up off the ground seeing that the group in a panic make a run for the settlement.

Pushing himself up Capper tried to speak to them but more storm-less thunder roared out followed by flaming explosions where many of the former Klugers were standing. Those that were faster than the rest ran but no thunder... yet that didn't save them from a similar fate.

The moment they step forward on some patches of sand the ground under them rocketed them forward into the air followed by small blasts of fire tearing them up. In a few seconds, the entire group he was to escort to the Abyssinian lands were dead, torn to pieces by thunder and fire.

Getting up Capper bolted away from the settlement running as fast as his little legs could carry him not wishing to become the piles of blood and cooked gore that the group had become. Not caring if he left his lantern behind that was slowly burning out and broken from the first explosion.

Lighting the words on the small pillar of packed sand that read.

'Private property: Trespassers will be dealt with accordingly'

Along with the clear image of a skull and cross bones...

But the skull wasn't that of any creature Capper knew but he didn't care he knew what it meant.

Author's Note

Here you guys go... ehhhh just realized the number of words...

2020... damn it all that was a shit year.

Still 2,000+ words?

Sorry, if it was shorter than the first chapter.

Still either way hoped you enjoyed the little humor I threw in...

As to why the courier just lost a tooth?

Well... being in a radioactive wasteland plus the fact he was experimented on by a bunch of brains in jars then experimenting on himself with implants and who knows what else?

Before you say: "Is he turning into a deathclaw?"

No, as awesome as that sounds no...

Just side effects of the stuff from the big empty and radiation from searchlight and vault 34.

Also no Assaultron GF.

As much as the assaultron would make for the perfect companion (Since they are for any wastelander for a few reasons- like combat, seriously other 'personal' reasons aside) Courier six has already got ED-E and he is like the courier's version of Sox.

If you got any more questions feel free to ask away.
