Pacing the floor of her library, Twilight was busy with books levitated and swirling around her in a three hundred and sixty degree circle in which all the books were open, and they all had the exact same type of title on them. There was The Multiverse Theory and you, How To Teleport To Other Universes, What You Can Do With Yourself, and of course, The Big Book Of Alternate Dimensions. As she skimmed through each one carefully, making sure to catch every detail and memorize it all with efficiency. Her dragon, Spike just rolled his eyes as he came down the stares and asked “Twilight, what are you doing?”
“Researching… do you wanna hear about it?”
Spike knew well enough that when Twilight was researching something like this and wanted to discuss the topic, he needed to stay away from her wild ranting of the same thing he’s heard over a billion times in his shortly lived life. While his giggles almost taunted the mare, he backed up and headed for the door while claiming “I think I’ll just go help Rarity out with her clothing designs.
As the echoes of the slammed door vibrated in Twilight’s ear, she told herself she needed somepony to talk to, and who better this fine morning that her good, talkative, party pony friend, Pinkie Pie? As she took the biggest book she had with her, she wondered if Pinkie would be interested in the multiverse matters.
Sugar Cube Corner was closed on Tuesdays, so today was good for the purple pony to visit. She jollily walked in and noticed the sound of soft clanking coming from the kitchen. As she coyly walked in, she saw her pink friend pouring her morning cereal. Pinkie looked up and smiled.
“Oh, hey Twilight, what’s up?”
Twilight sat the book on the table and asked “You wouldn’t mind if I told you about this, would you? It helps if I have somepony to talk to while I sort all this out in my mind.”
Pinkie giggled as the milk was poured in. Once her food was ready, she said “I’d love to hear about your weird, scientific mumbo jumbo!”
As the purple unicorn smiled, her book opened and she began.
“Okay… you see, for the past week, I’ve been researching the multiverse theory. If you would, imagine this world, and think of all the different outcomes for all the different situations we; as in you, me and our friends have been in. they all could have happened extremely differently. This is just the ice breaker.”
Pinkie chewed her food while smiling. she tried to seem interested in something she just didn’t understand.
“You see, for every possible outcome, there is another universe that could have a different aftereffect happen; an alternate universe. This is known by the scientific community as the multiverse theory. It’s said that there is multiple versions of this world that exist outside of this dimension. What I'm getting at, is I think there might be a way to teleport another me over to this world!”
Pinkie blinked with the spoon hanging out of her mouth, almost ready to drop into the bowl due to her extreme boredom.
“The overall success of this experiment would require a great deal of concentration, as well as magic. I’d need at least fifteen unicorns to pull it off, and I don’t even know if it would work, but the thought of having another me to talk to… I think it would be amazing! Just think, all the conversations we could have; all the enjoyment of having an exact copy of me that could be described as my exact synonym, and don’t get me started about the scientific breakthrough!”
Pinkie now had half opened eyes and wasn’t really listening to the rambling mare.
“I can see it now! The stage is cleared, and as Celestia calls my name, I introduce myself, explain the multiverse theory in detail, and finally, reveal my discovery to the world. As both me and my alternate universe twin stand there, both identical in every way, ponies throughout the crowd wonder who the real one is! It could be me, or it could be the other! Celestia would be so proud of my accomplishment that she’d award me the smartest unicorn in all of Equestria. That would be the title I need, not just strive, but demand for Pinkie!”
Twilight noticed Pinkie nodding her head, telling Twilight she was listening, when really she was falling asleep and her head was bobbing from her tiredness.
“Then, after that, I’d be able to mass produce this wonderful idea, and everypony would have a clone to talk and play with, learn from, and so on! This could be a good thing, or it could be a bad thing. Sure, talking to a replica can get boring, and there would be the problem with permission, as we have to be considerate to our other selves, but to just imagine the thought of being with your own clone, even for one single day is just breath taking. I would have so many conversations with my other self. I’d ask her what her world was like, see how different I am from her, study the way I behave with a third pony perspective, and answer any of her questions as well, of course. Then there would be the possible experiments we could try. With two amazing geniuses like me, the possibilities of other breakthroughs are limitless!”
Pinkie was now staring blankly at Twilight’s moving lips, not really hearing her, but just watching them move as she kept talking about something Pinkie had no interest in any more.
“We might be able to create a spell that would summon food from the sky! There could even be a new, revolutionary way to make every pony in all of Equestria have wings! Maybe even create a new device that can amplify a unicorn’s power, and make her able to perform any spell she wanted! If that happened… Uh Pinkie, are you listening?”
Pinkie Pie blinked, swallowed the bits of cereal, pointed her hoof at the purple unicorn and said “Twilight, STFU.”
